Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn Sweeps Nominations at DICE Awards 2018

Shinobi1Kenoby

@Wesker those games are as viable as anything else mentioned for 2018.
Donkey Kong country is one of the best platforming game franchises around and always has been both critically and sales figures, if you don’t rate them you either haven’t got a clue or you’ve never played one.

Those games are onkyna long way off as you’re calling a years worth of games in early January. Same as most of the games on all formats are a long way off.

You’ve also obviously not got a switch and never even used one so good experience to pool your opinions from.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn Sweeps Nominations at DICE Awards 2018

Shinobi1Kenoby

@Wesker “amazing, every word of what you just was wrong”

Friend codes are gone.

There would be no power trade off. That’s the point.
The next gen of consoles, the graphical leap will be even smaller than it was from PS3 to PS4 that it won’t really bring anything new to the table. If you can take the power of the PS4 fully mobile next gen however, then that’s a whole new ball game.

As for stating in January that nothing special is coming this year on Switch? That’s just... well... ??? ..... anyone?? I think you’d be safer with a cup and ball.

Bayonetta 3
Metroid Prime 4
Shin Megami Tensei
Pokemon RPG (alone will outsell anything this year if it releases this year, 3 generations of gamers have been waiting for this game to be made, I think Nintendo were waiting for their main platform to be fully mobile before finally making it)
Re-releasing the best game on Wii u is a clever move as it will bring it to millions of gamers who never got to play it - Donkey Kong Country: Jungle Freeze - the best platforming game ever made, played by about 10 people.
That’s just console exclusives known by second week in January, not to mention they’ve rumoured a new 1080.
Multi format you can add Street Fighter collection mega Man 11, mega Man x collection, Bloodstained, Valkyrie Chronicles,

I’ve lost £100’s to Switch preorders half way through January.

Re: Half of BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle's Character Roster Is DLC, Fans Are Raging

Shinobi1Kenoby

This isn’t games companies fault; it’s the consumers.

Publishers saw the pay to play work for mobile gaming and it paid in bunches, so why wouldn’t you try it for consoles?

The problem was, spend happy sad gamers/youtubers who HAVE have to have everything on day one, bit their hands off and voted with their wallets in enough numbers that this sh*t is now here to stay.

Very much a case of the few ruining it for the many. Telling publishes to stop taking this strategy is the same as telling them to stop aiming to make a profit. When people stop investing in this kind of thing, only then will you see publishes start targeting volume of content as opposed to monetising a fractured game

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn Sweeps Nominations at DICE Awards 2018

Shinobi1Kenoby

The PSP did nowhere near what the Switch is doing right now. It was also an awful console.

What the Swirch actually is, is a home console that has the capability of being fully mobile. Or a handheld that is as powerful as a home console. Or basically it is the future form factor of video gaming.

Should PS5 be a more powerful PS4 pro?? I wouldn’t be interested even 1%. If PS5 was a PS4 that was instantly transferable from the TV to being globally mobile? I’d buy one day one.

2-3 years from now, chipsets will be cheaper for Tegra style hardware and being able to play Persona 6 any time anywhere or dip into a Battle Royale on PUBG/Battlefield/CoD/FIFA anywhere in the world anytime rather than having to wait till everyone is home in front of their TV’s? That’s where PlayStation needs to go next.

Nintendo just evolved gaming and everybody needs to copy this next gen, and the know it.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn Sweeps Nominations at DICE Awards 2018

Shinobi1Kenoby

@Flaming_Kaiser not the question I asked. I whole heartedly believe the Switch is a new gaming format altogether. Various people labelling it a handheld kind of is evidenced here that it is indeed not a handheld. Thanks for supporting the point I was making.

I think you mis read the sub-text of what I was saying. Apologies for not giving you a yes/no answer, but you didn’t really ask a yes/no question

Re: PlayStation Fans Are Gaming's Biggest W*nkers

Shinobi1Kenoby

@jrmorgan this isn’t a court of law so why would I census the PS4 user base for something as mundane but yet so blatantly obvious?

Arguing the point just makes you sound:

  • Defensive as you feel included and singled out.
  • arguing for arguing sake.

Logic, common sense and the utterly obvious dictate that thatvisbwhats happening because that is what young lads would, do, and always will do.

Every lad always has; the risk and danger is that today, the ease of accessibility and the sheer extreme nature of content is so vastly skewed into the negative that it isn’t as innocent as it used to be and waaaaaaay more monitoring, security and education of parents is needed.

When I hear about all the current cases of underage teenage with genuine addiction problems to PornHub type services and utterly deprived things that they get up to at such young ages; it’s shocking.

This content should not be accessible so readily through what uneducated parents perceive as an innocent toy.

Re: Poll: Ultimate PlayStation Character Tournament: Round 1 - Matches 45-48

Shinobi1Kenoby

@Fight_Teza_Fight wouldn’t say Bayonetta is a Nintendo character at all no. Neither is it a Playstation character.

There’s no connection to be drawn in that respect. If I played street fighter II on the SNES or on the Mega Drive, you don’t sit there saying Ryu is a Sega character do you? But I I asked you to name some sega characters you’d instantly rattle off names such as Sonic, Alex Kidd, Billy Hatcher, Ai-Ai, Ecco etc etc.

It’s just a real tenuous grasp at trying to get a bit of identity for a games console that isn’t from a games company. There’s only character out of 10 today that I couldn’t have completely experienced on another format.

And I agree, Ezio should be winning flat out. Best character in that franchise and ultimately has way more depth to the game, world and character than Dante. I think bithvganes are great but in terms of character? Ezio baby!!!

Re: Poll: Ultimate PlayStation Character Tournament: Round 1 - Matches 45-48

Shinobi1Kenoby

@get2sammyb not really.

You say Playstation characters, you think: Cole, Kratos, Nathan Drake, Aloy.... not much else really.

You say Video game characters; you think most of the characters on that list. “Playstation characters” sort of implies brand exclusivity to Playstation.

Fair do’s though, as an exclusive list would be too short to warrant weeks worth of polling 😜

Re: PlayStation Fans Are Gaming's Biggest W*nkers

Shinobi1Kenoby

@Tasuki yes. But those who bother to fuddle using the web browser will not be adults as it is the worst, slowest and most inconvenient web browser available. It would only being used for that purpose by people who had no better alternative.

You are viciously defending that “teenage boys don’t do that!!!!!” You must not be old enough yet.

Fact remains that unfortunately that the majority of PS4 users watching PornHub are teenage lads. Fact. You are kidding ourself or trying to kid others if you think otherwise.

Re: PlayStation Fans Are Gaming's Biggest W*nkers

Shinobi1Kenoby

@Tasuki it is statutory law to challenge potential customers when purchasing a BBFC 18 rated game if you suspect it was being purchased for a minor.

As for attempting to knock the stuffing out of me when I was 21? That would have give me the biggest laugh for my weekend that week 😂

Re: PlayStation Fans Are Gaming's Biggest W*nkers

Shinobi1Kenoby

@themcnoisy it’s was 15 years ago I worked in game. Not sure I could hook you up with any help here.

Education is needed definitely bit of the parents; more so than the kids.

The web browsing on consoles is being done by kids 100% it is the slowest way to use the web. Any adult or owner of there own unrestricted smartphone will web browse on a smart device, not a phone.

Nevermind streaming on the TV.

Streaming on a console is being used by people who that is their only or mainly accessible point to the web - underage lads. There maybe minor percentages in other demographics but the VAST majority will Be teenage lads. Any argument against isnjust denial/cluelessness/mis-direction out of being a guilty party haha.

Re: PlayStation Fans Are Gaming's Biggest W*nkers

Shinobi1Kenoby

@themcnoisy I’m good for advice on technology thanks. At no point have I said I’m worried about my house, I’m talking about the millions of consoles in most houses where kids are watching porn because over the years in my experience where parents just don’t care.

I worked in Game when Vice City launches on PS2.
Middle aged woman approaches the counter “can I buy this please”
I look at her and think, “you don’t look like the person with an interest of Tommy Vercetti’s adventures” “could I ask who you’re buying this for please?”
Woman - “my son wants it for his birthday”
Me - “how old is he?”
Woman - “12”
Me - “are you aware of the violence, running people over and such in this game?”
Woman - “yeah, it’s fine, his mates play it”
Me - “are you also aware that you can pick up a prostitute in the car, have her in the car, pay her, let her out, murder her and then take your money back!”
Woman - “REALLY!!?”
Me - “Yes”
She pauses for a few seconds....
Woman - “it’ll be fine, I’ll take it please”

Re: PlayStation Fans Are Gaming's Biggest W*nkers

Shinobi1Kenoby

@themcnoisy “amazing. Every word of what you just said is wrong.”

The LEAST convenient web browser in existence is the games console. An adult, somebody old enough to own their own smartphone/tablet/PC/Laptop will use the web browser on a games console close to never.

On the other hand, a games console in a teenagers bedroom, yet to gain electronic independence, will use it 10/10 to slyly watch porn late at night... Mum comes in!? Home button!!!! BOOM!!! I was just playing Crash Bandicoot Merm!!! Haha.

Also not sure what nerve you think you’ve touched, I’m emotionally sound. If you’re on about your ex however, that was a just a side note of utter astonishment at your decision over the particular situation.

Re: PlayStation Fans Are Gaming's Biggest W*nkers

Shinobi1Kenoby

@get2sammyb you’ll know more when you have kids. Yes you can restrict everything, in the house.

Having 24 hours access through a console secreted in a kids bedroom is infinitely more damaging than watching something on a mates phone at school. All tech that kids own is bought by parents. If they hand it over without taking proper precautions then the parents are to blame.

Best format for this is the Switch. Absolutely awesome control, kids miss out on nothing relevant to them, I know what the machine is being used for at all times without being invasive to their gaming experience and I can remotely tailor the restrictions as they get older. Equally if I just handed it over, it would be as open as a PS4/Xbox.

The onus is totally on the parents. Giving a teenage lad unrestricted access to porn and then being shocked that they use it is like letting a monkey live on your house and then getting angry when it throws its turd up the walls.

Educating kids about sex and adult content is one thing, but giving them unrestricted and unmonitored access to all the porn in the world and leaving them alone with it is just dangerous.

Re: PlayStation Fans Are Gaming's Biggest W*nkers

Shinobi1Kenoby

@themcnoisy not really an assumption though is it. Unrestricted access to any porn at all at the whim of a 12-17 year old boy????? That is a 99.9% chance if that happening.

As for dumping a girl for watching porn??? Because you wanted to play a video game??????...... Jesus.

Re: PlayStation Fans Are Gaming's Biggest W*nkers

Shinobi1Kenoby

Of course it, as it will be full of underage lads looking at porn as parents are generally clueless on how and why to safeguard the internet access in their home.

All lads will have done that if heir consoles had that kind of access. Difference is that today’s smut is waaaaaaaaaay beyond what was available in early days of internet and even more so with pre internet. The type of content that kids can access through their console is beyond alarming and is seriously damaging to their view of women and relationships as a whole.

If you buy a console for your kids? Do not hand it over to them until YOU have set up the parental controls on it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 201

Shinobi1Kenoby

Battlefront II believe it or not. I originally Pre-ordered after thinking the Beta was great.....

I then had flashbacks to buying the first one and it dropping to half price within a month.....

Then the ensuing hate and revelation of how money grubbing EA were, are and always will Be came about and saw cancelling my PSN pre-order.

Two months later and it sounds like the bugs have been fixed, EA relented and have opened the game up more, then a new sealed copy on Ebay at only £28 saw me thinking, “go on then” especially after watching the Last Jedi saw my 3 decade old fandom for Star Wars reignited a little.

One evening in.... doesn’t seem too bad if I’m honest. Now there’s a glowing review. Not a single bug yet so far anyway.

Re: Round Up: Push Square's Favourite PS4 Games of 2017

Shinobi1Kenoby

@NathanUC Fair do's, as all it was is a point for discussion. Everyone will have a slightly different personal top ten. I'd just have thought a reviewing website would aim to cover the whole format fairly and objectively, with a less personal opinion.

After all, I imagine quite a lot of people on here will try games recommended on here by the seasoned few that write for our entertainment.

I personally rubbished CoD off for years and lumped it in with FIFA/Need for Speed etc. But returning to it out of curiosity I found it quite a breath of fresh air and far more even when compared to how annoying and frustrating Battlefield 4 has gotten. It surprised me. Then again, it suffers the EA rape-o-thon in that if you buy every iteration of CoD, it is highly unlikely you'll see any change from game to game.

Re: PUBG PS4 Planned as Bluehole Targets All Platforms

Shinobi1Kenoby

@Flaming_Kaiser ????

How can it not???
Have you seen PUBG running???
I think it’s more a question of When than How.
Is there some illusion that the Switch is running a similar spec to the Wii???

PUBG in terms of graphics and scale is an easy port on the Switch.

Even if, for arguments sake, the graphical fidelity was an issue, it’s irrelevant. Online gaming doesn’t demand graphical parity, it is merely the exchange of command inputs being exchanged over a network.

Simple example:
Street Fighter V runs on PS4 and a HUGE range of PC hardware with varying performance. Doesn’t change the online aspect one bit.
In addition, all PC games run online with high end running with low end seemlessly in the online experience.

The Seitch is selling as fast as the PS4 did and a developer adding another 10 million (and rapidly growing) user base to their potential pool of consumers and gamers would certainly be in their interest and serve only to make one of the biggest and most inclusive online multiplayer’s ever.

Re: Round Up: Push Square's Favourite PS4 Games of 2017

Shinobi1Kenoby

@PaperyWhiteBoy @NathanUC

Is that despite resident evil only scoring 1 point higher than CoD WWII in the first place.

A game overall needs rating on all its merits: originality, design, controls, visuals, sound, execution, longevity (retention - not just pure hours to finish it),

Every game will have strengths and weakness across that matrix to turkey discern which had the most on offer. If the result leans more to one category then the other, then you have a bias result, unless each category is fairly weighted with the relative impact on the final game. While resident evil 7 gives you an on/off amazing experience for 20 hours tops, games such has CoD have millions of gamers around the world enjoying 100+ hours of gameplay. (Not me, don’t confuse my question as a fanboy Defense of CoD, as I ain’t)

While McDonalds burgers may not be the highest quality beef, I would bet everyone in the world that consumes burgers would be guilty of admitting they have consumed more McDonalds burgers than any other, and would gladly do so again, because it is far cooler to be seen sinking £10 at a Five Guys for premium burger than it is to £1 at a McDonald’s, even though you genuinely like both.

Analogy only stands to a point, as on reflection, the production value going into a Five Guys over McDonalds over CoD is not the same difference as that expended at Capcom and Activision, infact I’d suspect maybe more production went into CoD than Res Evil.

My main bugbear is that res evil is deemed so high in everything on offer last year, but I found it totally disappointing by the end and it let itself down massively after being so awesome up to a certain point.

Re: Round Up: Push Square's Favourite PS4 Games of 2017

Shinobi1Kenoby

I was more questioning it not even featuring in the top ten.

Suppose it depends on the definition on what somebody is looking for in a “GOTY”. While resident evil had elements that showed quality well and above WWII, the replay value and longevity of WWII will vastly overshadow that of resident evil; which managed to place 6.

I’d have thought a full assessment of THE best games of the year would involve a Matrix including all major scoring categories and then systematically producing a list, as opposed to trying to select a stand out date-to-be-different-for-the-sake-of-being different.

Personally I have never rated CoD as it’s just not my sort of game, but my opinion is clearly in the minority of the gaming world as literally millions of more people have gone for that game over what I would stake in the top ten.

Re: PUBG PS4 Planned as Bluehole Targets All Platforms

Shinobi1Kenoby

@YummyHappyPills very bold statement but it’s one Sony need to wake up and see that it’s what the gaming world is wanting and they ostracsing themselves in the long term.

The ridiculously rapid growth in install base of the Switch, plus considering the hardware is more than capable of running PUBG; it would be folly to not include a release for it.

They can’t get a game running well on the XBox One as it’s their first real venture into it, but they’ll get there. PUBG has the potential to be the “Minecraft” of the online FPS genre. If they go full multiformat it could be huge. And if Sony don’t grow up, it’s a potnetial dint in their current position.

Re: Game of the Year 2017: #1 - Persona 5

Shinobi1Kenoby

Watched this and didn’t fancy it at all. Also didn’t realise it was part of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise.

Reviews seem to look so will definitely pick up the Switch port that will inevitably be released not long after Shin Megami Tensei V. Not a slight on my PS4, will just get played more on my Switch and 80 hours is a lot o’ hours!!!

Re: Round Up: Push Square's Favourite PS4 Games of 2017

Shinobi1Kenoby

I’ve not played it, but how has the biggest selling game on PS4, not made it onto that list? Everyone slags CoD off but clearly the some/all of the writers have/bought/played/reviewed it as well as a high percentage of readers of this site have bought it, otherwise how could it be the biggest selling game???

Or is this a case of everyone plays CoD but you’re not allowed to admit it?? Haha.
