I would radically mark down the last section. It was bland, boring and utterly (and for the worse) contrasted with the rest of the game that had gotten everything so right.
It became a corridor shooter for the whole final section. Wasn’t scary. The final boss was all wrong. Umbrella had been really cleverly and subtlety understated all the way through so you knew why what was going on, was happening, only to completely override the ending and take away from the horror you’d survived all game long. The end game would have been better to return to the house and face the family en masse, having to out smart and out metal then all in some horror/puzzle face off like something out of Saw. The only stand out part of the final section was the clever reveal of Eveline. Everything else was run of the mill and standard. Huge let down after the rest of the game had been perfect.
They had gotten so much right in the main game that it was so wrong and ultimatelyna failure to try and change the game entirely for the end game.
I honestly and absolutely was blown away by this game. The final sections were an utter deflating let down though.
@kyleforrester87 @get2sammyb I got Red Evil 7 last week and it is a huge bitter sweet pill to take.
Up to the “survivor selection” point? This was pure 10/10 material. Can not say a negative thing about this game and it felt like the first real Resident Evil game that felt I tune with the original more than any other. Managing to do reboot such an archaic formula, in a way that works and create a constant atmosphere of dread and environments ripped straight from Saw, Hills Have Eyes and Texas Chainsaw is a real impressive feat to have achieved. This game alone made me want to try VR for the first time. At £350? Still a huge a no.
However, after the “survivor section” point? The boat and mine sections were a real change of pace in everyway and let the game down massively. It didn’t fit the game. Didn’t fit the pace, didn’t fit the feel and sought only to undo the stellar work achieved prior to those sections. It got boring, lost all intesntiy and seemingly totally lost its direction.
It almost felt like a different development team made the final sections using only a few notes from the first section as pointers.
The main body of the game: 10/10. Boat to end of game?: 3/10 Overall. 7/10
This had everything to give a 10/10 game but it got sloppy right at the end. Absolute shame as I was loving this all the way through. Would still recommend people play it as it is worth playing, 80% of the game is 10/10.
@get2sammyb not sure which point you think you’ve made that you believe stands?
But the predicament isn’t as simple as do or do not as a vital piece of modern gaming is now locked behind a subscription service, and they know that which is why that aspect is now part of the service where in the past it wasn’t. Clever on their part but blatantly money grubbing.
However as a consumer having invested my cash into a product is is wholey my right to endorse it or slam it for the rip-off guised in fake “benefits” that it really is.
@Flaming_Kaiser justbfind it annoying that the system prioritises everything else over my games collection. Bad layout and not customisable enough for me.
For me, while it doesn’t look as fancy, the 3DS has the best main menu interface and gives full scope to the user. The PS4 seems to suffer more from the strategy from when on PS3 we were forced to see the Singstar app before anything else.
For me the WORST mason menu interface is the XBox One. Is till get lost trying to find anything beyond what I played last.
@FullbringIchigo totally agree with you over @get2sammyb only played the demo so far and didn’t buy the full game as it just didn’t feel like a resident evil game at all.
Since reading reviews and comments I want to give it a try, but not with my resident evil fan eyes on, but just play it for what it is and see how it goes.
@get2sammyb gaming online you have no choice but to pay for it, so that’s a pointless to say in the first place as THAT is the sole and main reason everyone with a Playstation buys PS+. It has been modified so 50% if your console is pointless if you don’t have it.
The very fact that PSN used to be free makes that version infinitely better than its current form. To current version is the same software with the minor integral developments you expect with any software over the course of a 10 year lifespan. Any technical comparison between PSN on PS3 and PS4, you’re just being facetious when you blatantly know and understand the basic point being made.
@get2sammyb can appreciate what you’re saying but the negative feedback on these games offered as “free” are negatively fed back on as Sony insist this is a good reason to now pay £50 a year for something no better than the service we already had for £0 a year on PS3.
Took me ages to stomach the fact Sony wanted paying for something that was included for with every console for free to the money whore’s at Microsoft waded in. The sweetener is that Sony give you “free” (perpetual rental of a licence that expires if you fail to maintain your paid subscription - definitely not free) games every month. When these “free” games are crap.... bit of a slap in the face, particularly coming strait after a massive 25% price hike for that subscription.
@Lonejester well let me cry myself to sleep and retract my opinion haha.
Honestly couldn’t care less about PS4 this year, I’ve cancelled more pre orders than I’ve actually purchased. I want originality and to be impressed not an Uber graphics attempt at a tired format
@MadAussieBloke @MaHe How does objectively recognising any success make me a fanboy??
I’ve owned and played PS4 a lot longer than Switch. My opinion is objective as an owner and gamer of all three formats.
If you choose to ignore a blatant and credible success of what you’d call a rival format then the only actual fanboys in this conversation are you two Sony Fanboys
@Mahe what’s that got to do with anything, that’s just basic maths.
The current installed user base is huge. If anything the whole top ten should be all PlayStation just based on current market share alone.
The fact the Switch has put a dent in that clean sweep after only 9 months of being on the market is an undeniably huge deal. Hence Sony now changing tune entirely from “Nintendo are lovely and fine and no threat” to “wait, maybe we need to pay attention to this”
Not slamming Sony at all, I own and play all formats, but PS4 has been the most disappointing fron Sony yet with their success this gen coming down to giant mid steps by Nintendo (pre-Switch) and Microsoft with the XBox One.
It’s nice to see some competition starting a slow build again in the Market. Means Sony will up a gear instead of resting on winning by default and delivering little New since PS3.
When the user base of PS4 exceeds the total of switch and Wii U out together anyway, a game outselling and making it onto the NPD is something quite impressive in its own right too.
@1ManAndHisDroid you mis-read the hahahaha and then resorted to insulting me? No class.
The hahahaha was at Sony for being so full of their own crap and condescending to other formats thinking nothing else was remotely going to compete, have been caught napping and now reply with “ooooo maybe we should have kept an eye on that?”
Tortoise and hare come to mind with their arrogant attitude.
PS4 adopters also bought PS4 as here was no alternative. 360 and PS3 development all by stopped, the XBox One was a joke before it even launched. So if you gamed, you had to buy PS4 and then were lovingly fed ports and rehashs for the first two years that you willingly bought while you think it’s not investable on switch? Odd that.
I play PS4 and Switch but since Switch came out I’m playing NHL on PS4 and everything else is on switch.
Doom on switch is also a far better iteration. When running and playing it, can barely tell the difference unless you purposely sit there looking for it. Which is astounding when you think you’re playing something nearer in size to your smartphone than your PS4 and that includes the screen and controls. Not only that, I can play it wherever I want.
If I can be building my team and levelling up on my break rather than only at home on an evening, I’ll be on switch 10 times out of 10 on multi-format releases
@ExsMacaroni it comes with a dock?? If you take it at far value your actual next gen hybrid console just dropped to £130 too.
Not sure how you mean the joycons beingg flimsy. They are solid and made to a ridiculous high quality. The sheer level of tech inside each one is ridiculous compared to PS4 and XBox one controllers.
Agree with you on VC.m as if live VC being released on it. But maybe they don’t want accusing of recycling same old retro titles and charging people all over again, as opposed to building a reputable library of new titles first?
Seems to be going great software wise at the moment.
@1ManAndHisDroid ha shelf quality games????? Which games are you looking at? Hahaha
If the hardware is running games at a performance in excess of the PS3 and Wii U and can realise both on the home tv and mobile, then this is not a handheld console. This is a new, waaaay more accessible form factor that can be played in a multitude of way including full home gaming.
£300 also get you a full hybrid console with all the controllers you need, enough memory to get going and a game.
Where are you shopping to get a PS4 Pro and XBox One s for that price?
Everything else is options, everything you need to play, download, game, go online, game online, is all there in one box for £280. Not to mention the “controller” is actually 2 controllers costing £80 so your hardware is actually only £200.
@wiiware since when can’t video games be social. I’m also not telling you how to play games, I’m saying the opportunity to and accessibility of video games has just evolved massively. Playstation and Xbox are now behind creatively
Only an utter idiot would spend actual cash on ultimate team.
You’re paying for virtual “cards” that have no value and are ultimately redundant by the time the next years game is released, as they don’t transfer.
The games are fixed like an arcade coin slot to lead you into buying card packs. And then keep going back for more.
Why would EA stop doing this huge con when so many mindless prats keep handing over ridiculous amounts of money for nothing!
A £4 pack gets you 20 cards in a “blind pack” this pack could easily hold nothing, and the best player being worse than the worst player you already have. £4 for nothing. Not only that, you already paid £60 for the honour of playing the low quality unfinished game, now you are paying for virtual cards of players in a game you already own!!!!!!
Utter losers that need to get a grip on how much money they are ultimately wasting (or spending on unwitting parents credit cards)
There’s no two ways about it, blind packs in a video game is educating people and encouraging them to gamble. EA are disgusting.
@Derpie1 even more so then. the difference between them is virtually none existent, unless you purposely sit there playing spot the difference. nothing is taken away from the experience of the game, if anything it is added to
@wiiware it';s not the lack of time, it's the pure accessibility meaning that instead of logging in every evening to trade cards, unlock weapons are level up on death matches I can now do that whenever I like. My break at Uni and work? can now be spent gaming on the same game I play at home, not the portable version of.
It is an entirely missed concept at the moment but does seem to be slowly picking up.
The difference in graphics, while notciable, isn't actually that huge, with the Switch looking way more like a PS4 than a PS3. and when it's mobile, even more so due to the screen size.
Add to that you can play ANY game anywhere you are, anytime, the pure accessibility of all your multiplayer games.
PS4 may be marketed as for the players, but the switch hardware truly is the first machine ever that is purely for the gamers. Now if the software keeps coming and all AA titles see light on the Switch, more millions of people will slowly realise that this is the greatest gaming hardware ever put out by any manufacturer in terms of pure gaming, it just needs the games.
@wiiware I bought Doom on Switch for exactly portability and I play it WAY more than I play Doom on PS4 as it way more accessible and overall is just better in every way.
Why is it inferior? All the content is there and I can play it literally whenever I want. the FPS and resolution may be lower, but compared to the 0FPS and 0p resolution I get when I try play Doom away from my house on the PS4, it stands head and shoulders above the PS4 port.
Seriously everybody should just not buy ANY EA game for the next 12 months, hell even for 2 months would see them probably shut down.
EA has gotten so big and is no longer about "The Game". they develop garbage after garbage, spend millions on marketing it and then harass you for endless money after.
Do you remember when a £60 game lasted you as long as you wanted it to and all you ever paid was £60 and that was expensive? Games like Goldeneye, FIFA 08, NHL 99, Desert Strike, Medal of Honour. All EA games.
Today EA make the same games but you pay £60+ to get the game, then another £40+ for the DLC and then if ( and how hard)you get sucked into the microtransactions you could be paying somewhere between another £30-£1,000 ontop of that.
The game you used to enjoy for £60 is now the bane of your life as it turns you into a gamber/addict and drains you of £100-£1500 per year!!!! as they intend on re-releasing the same crap every 12-24months.
A poll on opinion of graphical power on a site dedicated to a platform who's entire selling point is graphical power??? Hmmmmm??? Wonder which way that went? Hahaha
How much little difference the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X actually bring to the table is laughable and shows graphical prowess has hit a ceiling for at least ten years.
Making genuine innovative advancements is now what the industry needs. Sony learning yet another lesson from Nintendo isn't a bad thing, especially if I meant next gen I could play, Battlefront 3, Battlefield 5, NHL 19, Uncharted 5, Tekken 8, online anywhere, anytime.
It's a no brained, huge step forward to give everyone more access to the games they love. Remote play is a feeble attempt and still is not anywhere near actuall portability.
I'd say one buy this on Switch as it's now the console of residence for awesome street fighter games in my house, and indeed anywhere else I feel like playing street fighter online
@Mahe hahahaha nice one. already dead hahah classic comedy there.
To be fair, the price drop on PS4 will have helped as well.
I own and play both and the Switch is an overall far superior piece of hardware for the foreseeable future, but my house purchase 2 PS4 slims in the last month as an upgrade for the god awful version 1 of PS4 and the PS3 as Game saw to sell the PS4 with Tekken 7 for £205!!!! couldn't pass that up.
The Switch is gaining some phenomenal momentum, this will see production increase leading up to Christmas as some real big numbers. The userbase of PS4 is fine and dandy, but you could see Switch catch PS4 up in it's lifespan, and what's wrong with that?? I couldn't recommend owning both pieces of hardware enough.
You've got your high powered graphical overtures on PS4 and you've got your ultimate online multiplayer format in the Switch. Play anyone anywhere anytime has never been so amazing. Break time at work yesterday saw me playing Ultra Street Fighter II and Arms in full HD online against people around the world. Throw Call of Duty and EA Sports into that online arena and you've got a true online gaming platform, no waiting till I get home, I can play whenever I like, hot-spotted to my mobile phone.
No worries, I'm not looking for you to agree with me. I'm just stating as a PlayStation, I'm getting increasingly bored and irritated by their slack and arrogant approach to the video game market. They are once again, bad for video games.
While you may not agree and think I'm discussing a point wildly out of the blue, if you look around you'll notice I am by far away not the only person saying it.
@dark_knightmare2 haha, I didn't say that, I'm saying that awards no mean anything.
The movie Revenant won an astounding number of awards at the Oscars, BAFTAs and Golden Globes. You ever watched it, or should I say seen watched Leo DiCaprio crawl around on the floor moaning and screaming for over an hour??
Apparently, awesome film!!!!! but, no it wasn't.
Titanic won an even bigger number of awards. That is not a good film. Coincidentally both starring DiCaprio, Sorry to him for that, wasn't his fault they weren't good films. But Awarding bodies would have you believe those were totally worthy of attention.
Same for games, but games awards hold literally no weight. I could set a website and start delivering annual awards, that would also mean......... naff all.
Video games awards are literally people like you and I simply passing an opinion. They are not from an overseeing all powerful panel of regulatory members who all should pay heed.
By all rights, Zelda: Breath of the Wild is simply the greatest game to be released in the last 10 years. Do you own it and also think it is as awesome as everyone else says?
I'm not talking yester-year, I'm talking over the last 3 years.
No bee, no bonnet either. I play PS4 and Switch and I'm noticing a hell of a difference between the two formats in terms of playability. I'd written the switch off and bought it out of curiosity, but it's making the PS4 look a joke.
Pre E3 I was really looking forward to Spider-Man, then saw it running in-game and thought.... of dear.
Similarly, but inversely, I'd written off Arms thinking it looked crap. Till I played the demo and was utterly surprised and blown away by it.
The Spider-Man pitch was all about QTE garbage and preset battle animations and it looked lame to play. Rather it looked amazing to play, till the repetition kicked in after 30 minutes and then becomes insanely boring.
Contrastingly, a game like Arms not solely pitched on how stunning it looks is utterly addictive and unbelievably deep for such a simple game.
Sony need to develop more with that mind-set, rather than something that makes a TV sizzle reel look appealing.
@JoeBlogs the point you just made is entirely pointless and irrelevant toward anything I've said. I never said old games were better.
Only a small percentage of retro games are still enjoyable today for the very reasons you just said. But those that are playable today are still undeniably awesome today.
I've also said the are good games on PS4, what I'm saying is that Sony are wholly marketing biased and the quality of gaming on PS4 is declining as they push and focus on graphics as a centre piece.
Example, Spider-Man looks garbage. graphically it looks very pretty, but playability looks dull and repetitive. Case in point is that Spider-Man is being lauded as a show stealing awesome game.
You strip the pretty graphics back, you've got a game that would not have made page 10 of an E3 report. Pull the graphics back in.... oh my god!!!! look at this amazing Spider-Man game!!!!!!!!
The "GAME" looks dull as hell. The visuals look very very nice.
Visuals should be the icing on the gaming cake, not it's only selling point.
@dark_knightmare2 yeah cause all awards are awarded fairly and wholly on merit around the world hahaha.
Don't get me wrong, there are some great games on PS4. But every year is notably worse on quality and better on graphics and it's sad.
Zero originality on PS4 whatsoever.
We'l be party to Final Fantasy 20, God of War 8, Uncharted 7, Tekken 12, FIFA blah blah blah before we see an original and inspired game on PS4.
So are clever, they have found a huge niche in the people that love the Fast and Furious films and they LOVE their graphics in games, so no need for originality if you wanna make some cash. It's just sad for the video games industry as a whole
@JoeBlogs Experiences have felt more watered down the more time goes on. Worst of all on PlayStation. It's rare you get a strong gaming experience, and it almost feels more common place in the indie sector over the multi million dollar productions.
God of War looks and Spider-Man look boring to play.
I'm not calling it on ripping anything, every game borrows from another game at some point. Any 3D environment game cannot be declared entirely original without owing a huge debt to Zelda: Ocarina of Time for example.
I'm calling Spider-Man on the fact, yes it does look visually impressive; but it looks like yet another experience that I'll tire of after the first half an hour once the novelty of the stunning pre-animated set-pieces has worn off and all you are left with is another generic wandering beat-em-up.
Even Batman copying Batman got boring. Arkham Knight was the worst one. While Arkham Asylum was a stunning game! (yes I just praised a PlayStation game)
There is too much reliance on repackaging an existing game with a face lift and calling it a sequel these days. EA are THE worst company for this, but even in-house at Sony they do it. Naughty Dog know they do it at Sony's request, even though they are striving to break out of Uncharted, there's only so much you can do. They did and gave us The Last of Us. The quickly got dragged back to do another 2 Uncharted games. Uncharted peaked, while 4 was a good game, with Uncharted 2. " was Naughty Dog's master piece, with the experience being repeated again and again till we get Uncharted 6 less and less people will care.
Let developer's develop, without the emphasis on graphics.
@JoeBlogs Not trying to make myself sound clever, I just am haha.
Nobody said graphics aren't important. Graphics do matter, of course they, but they play a percentage role in the overall video game pie, not 80% of the development time and funds like PlayStation games are slowly moving toward.
My beef is when the primary focus of a game development's time, money and resources has blatantly gone into the graphics, but the gameplay and story are diabolical, or have not advanced in the last several iterations of a franchise's dynasty; which is happening with more and more with PlayStation games and it's saddening.
My pet hate are those that pose graphics do matter; that they matter so much to the detriment of a more interactive and rewarding gaming experience, and that those who claim graphics don't matter say so only because they game on inferior hardware. People who pose graphics and they associated visual medium are incredibly important, just to try and sound clever.
The size of the playstation install base is skewing what is truly a quality game today. A particularly poor game today can now hit million+ sales just because the number of users making a market for that game on PlayStation. if you saw the same game released on Xbox or Wii U; it would sell nowhere near the same numbers, and not earn any Game Of The Year awards, but it is exactly the same game yes?
Sony are winning by marketing and advertising, that is it. The danger of such a dominant position is that they will slowly move to monopolise at the detriment of the software quality. It has happened time and again in the past and it's happening again. Sony are most definitely NOT for the players, but are solely for the players wallets
Awards based on sales figures and marketing all based on selling graphics.
Some great games have been released on PS4, don't get me wrong, I have played playstation for 20 years. But that 20 years experience of playing playstation is showing more and more that the actual content of their video games is declining and getting more repetitive whilst the focus on pushing how "lush" the graphics engines are, has become the stronger and stronger focus.

Genuinely was unimpressed with Sony in 2017 and cannot think of 10 titles that were “ 😮 I need to Pre order and buy this day one.”
The 2018 currently announced titles are sequels to franchises I got bored of 1-3 titles ago.
Getting quite bored of nothing new coming from Sony. Bit like the PS4 over the PS3. I miss how good Sony were 10 years ago.

@YummyHappyPills pretty sure Zelda is a single platform game as well.
While it’s on Wii U and Switch that is hardly the same as multi-platform as the Wii U and Switch are not competing consoles.

Looks 40% smaller but 400% more crap. Poor trade off. The PS4 controller is poor enough as it is, shouldnt they be working on improving on that?
Re: Sony: We Can't Ignore the Nintendo Switch
Re: Sony: We Can't Ignore the Nintendo Switch
Re: Sony: We Can't Ignore the Nintendo Switch
Re: Sony: We Can't Ignore the Nintendo Switch
@wakkawakka totally agree with you.
Re: Sony: We Can't Ignore the Nintendo Switch
@ExsMacaroni like?

Re: UK Sales Charts: Battlefront 2 Sales Slump 60%, Skyrim VR Outsells Switch Version
@wiiware since when can’t video games be social. I’m also not telling you how to play games, I’m saying the opportunity to and accessibility of video games has just evolved massively. Playstation and Xbox are now behind creatively
Re: UK Sales Charts: Battlefront 2 Sales Slump 60%, Skyrim VR Outsells Switch Version
@FredBiletnikoff not the original, the “redux” that was poor.
Re: Around 35% of FIFA Players Spend Real Money in Ultimate Team
Re: UK Sales Charts: Battlefront 2 Sales Slump 60%, Skyrim VR Outsells Switch Version
@Derpie1 even more so then. the difference between them is virtually none existent, unless you purposely sit there playing spot the difference. nothing is taken away from the experience of the game, if anything it is added to
Re: UK Sales Charts: Battlefront 2 Sales Slump 60%, Skyrim VR Outsells Switch Version
Re: UK Sales Charts: Battlefront 2 Sales Slump 60%, Skyrim VR Outsells Switch Version
Re: UK Sales Charts: Battlefront 2 Sales Slump 60%, Skyrim VR Outsells Switch Version
Good about Battlefront slumping.
This needs to stop.
Re: Poll: Do You Want Another Portable PlayStation?
I want more power!!!! It's ruining video games.
Re: Rumour: Street Fighter Anniversary Collection Flying to PS4
I'd say one buy this on Switch as it's now the console of residence for awesome street fighter games in my house, and indeed anywhere else I feel like playing street fighter online

Re: May 2017 NPD: Nintendo Switch Stock Shortages Open the Door for PS4
@Mahe hahahaha
Brain fart.... clueless child
Re: May 2017 NPD: Nintendo Switch Stock Shortages Open the Door for PS4
Re: Feature: E3 2017 Game of the Show - Spider-Man
@JoeBlogs
Re: Feature: E3 2017 Game of the Show - Spider-Man
@dark_knightmare2 haha, I didn't say that, I'm saying that awards no mean anything.
Re: Feature: E3 2017 Game of the Show - Spider-Man
@JoeBlogs
Re: Feature: E3 2017 Game of the Show - Spider-Man
@dark_knightmare2 It is not a facts based table of figures discussion. stating awards it has won does not qualify it as a great game.
You could list 100's of games and the 1000's of collective awards they have, doesn't mean you have 100 great games.
Re: Feature: E3 2017 Game of the Show - Spider-Man
@JoeBlogs the point you just made is entirely pointless and irrelevant toward anything I've said.
Re: Gallery: God of War PS4 Screenshots Show the Most Impressive Graphics at E3 2017
Re: Feature: E3 2017 Game of the Show - Spider-Man
@JoeBlogs Experiences have felt more watered down the more time goes on.
Re: Feature: E3 2017 Game of the Show - Spider-Man
@JoeBlogs Not trying to make myself sound clever, I just am haha.
Re: Gallery: God of War PS4 Screenshots Show the Most Impressive Graphics at E3 2017
@dark_knightmare2
Awards based on sales figures and marketing all based on selling graphics.
Some great games have been released on PS4, don't get me wrong, I have played playstation for 20 years. But that 20 years experience of playing playstation is showing more and more that the actual content of their video games is declining and getting more repetitive whilst the focus on pushing how "lush" the graphics
engines are, has become the stronger and stronger focus.
Re: Feature: E3 2017 Game of the Show - Spider-Man
@dark_knightmare2
You are wrong, it is just selling graphics.
I'm assuming you are quite young.
