Not spending £54 for a 10-15 hour game with the type of reviews coming in. Will wait for a good sale and player base reviews before considering purchase.
People will likely disagree with me but for a £50 + game no matter how good it is, I refuse to pay so much for such a short game that I can complete in one day over the weekend.
Looks good, didn’t expect any new innovations or ideas being it’s not a new game, rather a dlc. 33 hours is a good length and will make my playtime for Valhalla almost 400 hours when I’m done!
Good if you like anime/JRPG, retro or mobile type looking games. Rubbish if you like good quality single player RPG’s which Sony is usually known for. Not sure what’s happened since the PS5 launch state of play two years ago because since then there has been barely anything good since then. What wolverine and spiderman2 only major ones of interest to me since what was already announced back then.
I was interested in this, but have decided to wait for Steam Deck 2 which is rumoured to be in development and being more powerful etc.
The biggest gripe I have with version one is the weak battery life for the more demanding games and when you are on the move, one and a half hours is not enough battery life.
I’m hoping they will address that in the future model along with other improvements (Hopefully size and fan noise) but for now, that why it’s a big no from me.
I loved it, others on this forum don’t. I particularly enjoy Viking’s era history and tv shows etc, so this game particularly appealed to me. I played this well over 300 hours and can’t wait for the expansion next month.
I did however enjoy Odyssey a little bit more but that was because I loved playing Kassandra.
I imagine Valhalla did so well based on the success of Odyssey as well as lockdowns forcing people to be at home looking for things to do.
The trouble is over the past year there has been hype for games like Outriders and Back 4 Blood all similar to this game to the extent of being live service 4 player co op games. None have done well and have few players left playing them, yet here comes another AAA 4 player co op live service sigh…..
I have difficulty outside of MMO’s and FPS like some CoD to think of any 4 person live service game that has done that well and have players crying out for more.
Hardly surprised, I mean we had a SOP for Horizon last year and up till now no event for one of Sony’s biggest IP’s Gran T. Looking forward to watching it!
Already preordered. As you say it’s a shame it’s not released in time, but I like collecting these big must have game release strategy guides as keep sakes.
@ScottyG well you can pick up new PS5’s off the shelf in the Uk if you are willing to pay CEX’s prices which are the same as scalpers but hey it’s a national store lol.
I remember the old days where game stores used to tell customers who didn’t know which console to get, do they prefer Halo or Socom.
Now Sony doesn’t do a FPS first party of that calibre anymore I can understand why people are saying do you like Halo and Cod like games so as to future proof them in the long run cause who knows how long it will be multi platform for.
I made the decision to just buy first party games on PS from now on and all other third party on PC cause if you can afford it, it makes the most future proof sense in my situation as I also like pc only Strategy games as well. (So buying an Xbox for me won’t solve the problem)
As a consumer I hate all these acquisitions which is why I’ve slightly altered my third part gaming purchases to PC now as who knows who Microsoft will get next and beyond.
I love PS and their first party titles and will continue to buy and love them. But I am someone who wants 90% of all their games on one platform and not here there and everywhere.
I just don’t like having to use multiple platforms, I’d rather have 90% all in one place and with the way things are going, the safest place for someone like me is PC.
I’m out. I bought a load of new pc components to upgrade my pc today.
I no longer want to partake in these exclusivity wars and I have determined the best path for me now is to buy all games on PC and PS can be used solely for PlayStation exclusives from now on.
Microsoft is being very anti consumer and as someone who likes to have all their gaming in one platform like me, it’s a pain in the bum, which is why I’m making the move.
Yes it will be more expensive in the long run due to upgrading components etc every few years, but the games are cheaper on day one and it should be less susceptible to all these acquisitions unless someone with enough financial clout takes on MS like apple deciding to take on the gaming world.
Good luck all and hope things work out for all of you.
Only square Enix, rockstar and Ubisoft left of the major players I’m interested in.If either of those go to Microsoft it’s all over for me on PS. I think I’ll be going back to pc gaming and using my ps5 for exclusives only. It’s the only safe haven I can think of now that bidding wars keep happening.
Well if this is true. I guess I’m buying all future games that are not PS exclusive on Xbox or Pc. Activision for that amount of money is insane but I play a few of their games each year.
If Microsoft buy Ubisoft next or something like that PS is going to be relegated to just an exclusives machine which is sad.
@themightyant game had them available to order on their website for several days before Christmas had 3 work colleagues order on game on seperate days.
At least here in the Uk it’s fairly easy to get a ps5 last couple months. I mean BT have stock of PS5’s all morning (If you are a BT broadband customer)and still not sold out on their website. Smiths and Very are due a drop very soon as well after having a large drop before Christmas. I feel sorry for those that don’t live in Uk and still can’t get a PS5 who want one
Always worth checking your local game Twitter several stores saying they have stock in store today also for sale.
Considering this is a Uk site, it’s awfully woeful at keeping tabs on PS5 stock levels on their tracker page.
Linear games I’m fine with 20-40 hours GotG for example. Big open world rpg I’m happy with 100’s as long as it warrants it such as Witcher 3 RDR2 as examples.
A lot of games that can take 100’s of hours to complete are only that way because it gives people who love the game more activities to fill their time, but are in no way Mandatory to complete the story ie last 3 AC games for example. Those stories can be completed well within 60 hours, but those who enjoy them can sink 100’s of hours into them seeing and collecting everything.
Ac Valhalla took me 350 hours to complete including all DLC and the bonus Kassandra DLC. With the upcoming major DLC for it in March it’s still 100 hours less than 500 hours lol. I wonder what they have that would take someone 500 hours to complete if it’s true?
Can’t say I’m surprised, it’s different tech after all. If this is true it’s even more realistic to wait for some good games to be released before buying rather than just purchasing for horizons if that is the likely first game. Can’t see the sense in buying for one game, hopefully though they will have more game announcements before launch to justify purchasing at release if the rumor is true that there is no backward compatibility.
I would pay £350 max at release. If it’s more than that then I will only get it when/if there are a lot of great releases games specifically made for psvr2. It looks great, but I’m not going to pay 100’s of £ just to play Horizons.
Not interested in these coop focused games. I would have a second look if it were a single player story driven RPG which it’s not. From what I’ve seen they would do better to delay to polish, market the game better and pick a better release date that doesn’t conflict with so many releases in Feb and March on both PS and Pc.
Dying light 2 then HZFW for me both preordered and ready to go in Feb! Don’t think I’ll personally get Elden Ring as I don’t enjoy “hard” melee type games like that even though it looks good.
Meh no mention for GotG? I was singing along for most of the game. Can’t remember a game where I was singing along for most of it and enjoying the game at the same time!
MGotG is definitely my game of the year and the story was great. Really a throwback for me to the 80’s with the music lol. Definitely the biggest surprise for me this year and my favorite.
You’ve mentioned that it’s unlikely to get a PS5 on Boxing Day, yet my local Game UK store has tweeted on the 23rd and 24th December that they had stock of PS5’s. I would recommend looking at your local Game store tweets or phoning them if you were after one from a physical shop.
Secondly you have been able for several days now on Game UK to preorder PS5 consoles on their website for delivery late January.
It’s has pretty easy to buy or pre order a PS5 in the Uk over the past few days in the Uk same with series x consoles.
Sad cause I’ve done everything the game has to offer at the moment unless the rumours of the new dlc turn out true, I would love to dig into this game again.
Battle passes are purely optional, there usually is nothing apart from skins, blueprints and other cosmetics. If you don’t want to pay extra don’t, I’m not sure what the issue some people have on this forum.
Aside from that I’m loving the new carbine rifle, it feels so op atm lol
Be good if this is true, I sinked almost 300 hours into it and completed both DLC’s so another meaty DLC while I wait for the next iteration of AC is welcome from me at least.
I pick up COD every year and I’m not casual. I enjoy the change of scenery each year. BF2042 tried to be different and it’s not even in top 10 anymore.
I play many different type of games but COD always seems to make me come back each year cause I enjoy it.
I’ll give the demo a shot to see if it’s better than the last, but I’m unlikely to purchase if release is Feb with Dying light2 , HFW and then Gran Turismo at start of March lol
@Subsided Farming Sim is not an annual game like FIFA or COD. The last one was released in 2018 so it’s usually every three years. Farm Sim 2022 is such a huge upgrade in both simulation but also gameplay over its predecessor for anyone who is into this series.
Supply chains, new maps, better graphics and sounds, new crops etc etc it’s a lot more in gameplay and other changes than “if it were a typical annual game” as you are suggesting.

Ciri Witcher!
Just no live service and don’t release a year too early like Cyberpunk.

It was going to be this or ghostwire. Think given reviews etc I’ll pick this one up and wait for a deep sale on ghostwire at new year.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Sony's Latest State of Play?
@PhhhCough can if they want, but I didn’t say anything racist, derogatory or factually incorrect. I mean PlayStation Twitter posted it themselves.
Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Sony's Latest State of Play?
I think Sony pulling the plug on Hardware, Software and PS store sales in Russia moments before the State of Play is bigger news than the SoP itself.
Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Sony's Latest State of Play?

I bought it digitally so no postman for me. However cause of the storm I have no power! So no playing for me today too.

I’ll go with the experts recommendation. If I want better fps I can play again on my pc in 3 years time or whenever it’s ported over eventually.
