Re: It's an Interesting Time to Be Posting The Last of Us: Part II Reaction Trailers

@get2sammyb I would agree that it is a lot more dynamic, but I’d say that was down to AI improvements, which is a massive overall.

I dunno, I just can’t get excited for another game where I throw bottles at the ground and stab, rinse and repeat. They are giving you more space in the levels now, but how are they going to allow us to use this space?

Every time I watch it I just can’t help but think that’s it’s more TLOU as far as gameplay goes, I think the fact the sound cue for an enemy being close is the same, is annoying me most 😂

Oh well I’ll wait and see more, I’ll be getting it 100% for the story anyway!

I think we’ll see something at TGA tbh. Hopefully some more gameplay clips, as although I’m not keen on being a Debbie downer, E3s gameplay didn’t seem to make any bigger changes to the original. Even the HUD and sound cues seem like they were taken straight out of the first.

I understand it’s a sequel set in the same world etc etc, but I do feel that devs should innovate and evolve a lot more than just adding a deeper melee system along with the ability to hide under a car or squeeze between tight spaces.

I can’t help watching the demo and feeling like it is very much the same again SO FAR in gameplay, and that doesn’t excite me.

Re: Round Up: The Heist DLC for Spider-Man PS4 Gets Solid Reviews

STLamy

Exactly as I expected (and worried about) and posted on here when these expansions were announced. Nothing substantial, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing....... but also not what I look for in DLC, which is more meaty, worthwhile content to dig into.

I’ll wait until next year to decide on picking these up or not.

Re: Review: Marvel's Spider-Man (PS4)

Seems what I worried about (Open world repetitiveness) came to fruition. Day 1, but since the moment I heard about collectibles etc it sounded like it fell for the open world trap.

Re: Feature: Spider-Man 2 - Does It Still Hold Up Today?

STLamy

Spider-Man PS4 does have major potential, but i think it’s overall critical reception will rely on its side quest and content design.

They’ve mentioned tonnes of collectibles, citizen helping/saving quests and Crime stopping quests, but it could fall into that ‘open world trap’ of feeling repetitive and tedious.

I’m 100% day 1, but Im interested in how they’ve handled that stuff. The combat, web-slinging and writing so far are on point!

Re: New Licensed Pro PS4 Controller Announced - Why Doesn't Sony Just Make One?

STLamy

@FullbringIchigo their leaving money on the table because of the current Pro Controller market on PlayStation. You have XBX Elite controllers selling for around £115, vs this current SCUF which will be priced at £200.

The added cost comes from the “SCUF” name (which granted, seems to be something of question this gen), the markup due to licensing and the current ‘no competition’ situation with Pro controllers on PlayStation.

Development costs isn’t a story argument for backing off imo, due to the current proof of success on competing platforms. If it was a gamble, I’d agree. But this isn’t a gamble, this is a guarantee (XBX Elite Controllers were and still are struggling with stock issues and the Nintendo Pro Controller is always a big seller).

Sony could create this Controller, ship it at the £100 - £120 mark, and laugh. Licensing fees are nothing compared to the profits received for these controllers, and with the current crop of Battle Royale games, I’d say yes, they are leaving money on the table.

Re: Guide: The Best PS4 RPGs

Can’t argue with this list. The Witcher 3 is perhaps the best game I’ve ever played. Great to see Ni No Kuni 2 placing on the list, I’m only 6 hours in but have fallen in love with it.

Re: Soapbox: Don't Dismiss Bloodborne Because of Its Difficulty

STLamy

@Hengist doesn’t sound like you gave it much of a chance 😂.

I feel like this is where the bad perception of the games kick in. If this was any other game, would you have just given up immediately and deleted it? Maybe but I’m not so sure that would be the case for most.

Re: 'People Ask for Story-Based Games, But Don't Necessarily Buy Them'

STLamy

I feel like the “we need more single player games” are the vocal minority here, and I’m sure that’s been proven over the last year. I’m apart of that group, and I haven’t played Multiplayer in a game for years, but I’m also not blind to the fact that they are where the money is for Publishers. The general Gamer (who picks up FIFA and COD every year) doesn’t care enough to post about this on an online forum, but they are the majority. Less vocal, but definitely the customer that the publishers prefer.

Re: Quantic Dream 'Surprised' by Allegations About Studio Culture

STLamy

I don’t fully understand why denying these allegations is considered a terrible response, according to replies to this tweet. Is that what a certain group of people want? For everyone accused to apologise and throw their name under the bus, for something that could actually be false.

Why should you apologise and supposedly fix, when there is nothing to apologise for or fix in the first place.
