CD Projekt Red has released four new Cyberpunk 2077 screenshots. They're supposedly in-engine and representative of what the the finish game will look like. They're also from a first-person perspective, so this is basically what you're going to see while playing, minus any HUD elements.
It's unclear whether this is all that CD Projekt Red will have to show at Gamescom 2018, but obviously, we'll keep you in the loop.
So... Are we the only ones who think this definitely doesn't look current-gen? Prepare for PS5 in the comments section below.

This is probably running on a super high end pc to be fair.
PS5 or not, it looks cool either way.
i would not be so fast to say it's captured on a next gen system
ghost of tsushima looks unlike anything else before aswell and we know that is a ps4 game.
tbh these screenshot look great but don't scream next gen for me.
Was hoping to see more then this cause it doesn't convey much of the scale that the game's going to have.
Or, call it a hunch given their pedigree....using RTX cards on PC, their main platform.
@zimbogamer Exactly. So it will be a PS5 game, then.
I really wish this was third person, but it still looks great.
I'd argue that whatever platform it comes out on is dependent on when it comes out. CDPR said they were still targeting current gen hardware. So if it comes out late 2019, or 2020, it's still a PS4 game. If it's a 2021 game (and I don't think it is considering how long this has been in development), it's a PS5 game for sure. How good it looks is irrelevant in this game, since all screenshots and gameplay are captured on a high-end PC.
@get2sammyb or we just get the pixelated version. Cyberpunk: Minecraft
To me, it certainly doesn't look 'next' gen - and by that I mean it doesn't look like something we couldn't expect from this generation. I am not saying that it looks 'bad' but a lot of the backgrounds are quite basic in terms of polygons and draw distances. Compared to the Witcher 3 (for example) which has long draw distances with much more 'complex' backgrounds with trees, bushes etc that are lot more complex than buildings with relatively low polygons, means that CD Project can put more detail and polygons into the characters or even have more characters on screen.
Characters don't look particularly better than we have seen in games like Uncharted 4, Lost Legacy etc. Having seen the latest Tomb Raider video's running at native 4k on Xbox One X with much more complex 'jungles' and mud deformation - something that urban scenes don't need because roads are quite flat with little/no fluid dynamics and quite 'simple' textures compared to things like wet mud and the deformation of footprints, trees and the bark, complex leaves with movement due to wind, much more materialistic lighting as light is diffused through those leaves etc.
Its understandable as to why some aspects of Cyberpunk look better but also why its able to use more resources on these aspects because its not using as much on the environment as others too...
@zimbogamer Agreed. I'm getting it on console either way tho...
Bummed this is a first person game. Looks good though.
It'll get graphically downgraded though, look at witcher.
I certainly hope it isn't PS5 - cos that means we have a very, very long wait. Personally I don't think it is though. It's always been the case that the further you get into a console's life cycle the better the games generally look as devs find more ways to squeeze every bit of power out of it - just looks at GTAV on the Xbox 360, or The Last of Us on PS3. So Cyberpunk 2077 coming out towards the end of PS4's life should mean we can expect it to look amazing.
I'm guessing that screens 2 & 3 are the playable character, which looks like cover might be in 3rd person and also switches to that view whilst getting inked or some kind of new cybernetics. Screenshot 4 is obviously a female character.
It does look good but I wouldn't say it looks next gen.
It'll be the PC version won't it?
I think it'll be out on PS4, dunno how close to that the PS4 Pro can make it though.
I'd expect a PS5 port of the game down the line if it's received well
@ApostateMage I think the guy in screenshots 2 and 3 is one of your allies in the game. CD Projekt Red already said that on some missions you'd have a partner.
In the last screenshot you can see the same guy holding guns up to the enemies.
It'll come out on PS4/XBOX but 100% it's being developed with next gen in mind and would put good money on it coming to PS5.
@ShogunRok Oh aye yeah. Good spot, eagle eye Rok.
I'm screaming like a little girl!!
Obviously these are your typical bullshots....hellloooooo! If I had to bet, I'd say the actual game will look a step down from this, and will release on the PS4 before the end of 2019.
that footage is obviously from a high end pc... we will get highly compromised version on ps4 i believe, but the best way to play the game will be on ps5. it is a cross gen game — at least that is my guess.
Oh dear, the future is here.
No seriously, screenshots many times tend to look somehow better than the actual thing. This looks amazing though and I'm afraid it will indeed be a PS5 title. Maybe a delay first and an "announcement" later. You know, the "unfortunately current tech isn't enough" announcement.
There'll be a definite visual downgrade once they start showing off the consolized version we'll actually be getting.
I do expect it to be a cross-gen release, though, with higher resolution textures for the PS5/PC version.
the screenshots looks amazing but come one dog.i seen better graphics.and ps4 pro can. make this game beautiful.word up son
They’ve said that it’s coming to Xbox One and PS4 a million times now 😂
Is this not a kick to the guts for fans that know actual gameplay was shown back in June?
While the graphics look great, but I don't think it's better than tlou 2 or ghost of tsushima. Of course, that depend on the how big the city is, not only in size, but also scope.
Still no gameplay footage for us plebs? These days I don't generally get excited about a new game until I've seen gameplay, and the current disconnect between me and journalists saying the footage looks brilliant is off-putting.
I just hope they are transparent about its future plans cuz if i buy it for ps4 and then it releases a bit later for ps5 id be pissed. Id rather just wait.
@johncalmc @NinjaWaddleDee Same here about it not being first person.
I'll probably still end up buying and playing the game eventually though, and loving it despite all of that.
Idc if it releases on it's own cyberconsole, CD Projekt can take all my money 😍
@zimbogamer The demo that some people got to see during E3 was running on PC. Which is why I thought console players needed to lower their expectations a bit from a visual standpoint.
Just show us gameplay already.
I don't think there is any chance of this not coming out for PS4 and Xbox One. With the time and money they are putting into this game I can't see them skipping over 100 million potential customers. Yes it will probably have to have some visuals turned down in order to run but it will be on there.
I think it will be out late 2019/early 2020 and do a GTA V with upgraded version a year or so later for PS5.
Last Of Us and Beyond : Two Souls also looked gorgeous on Ps3, I don't necessarily think this is next gen
Early screenshots for a game that's also coming to PC looking amazing is hardly proof that this game is targeting next gen hardware. I mean, there probably is a good chance it will come to PS5 along with PS4, but to say that at this point is pure speculation.
I just want a modern reimagining of Shadowrun from the SNES, chummer.
