PlatinumGames is making a PlayStation 4 exclusive based on Japanese smartphone sensation Granblue Fantasy and it looks amazing. The problem is: no one’s really paying attention to it. There was a video showcased late last year, but it was marred by abysmal quality, so while this clip is identical, it’s nice being able to watch it in 1080p as opposed to potato cam quality.
The footage spans two parts of gameplay: exploration of a serene village-type environment and intense character action combat. Both portions look outrageously attractive, and we can already sense the hype swirling in the depths of resident Push Square weeb Robert Ramsey’s mind. The title was originally due in 2018, but new press material lists its launch window as “undecided”.

I LOVe the graphics! Can't wait ot learn more about it.
I could've sworn you guys reported on this already. I certainly haven't forgotten about this. This shiny footage surfaced over a month ago and it's still fantastic! Looking forward to a firm date.
Platinum games + big budget : great games
Bayonetta 2 comes to mind, the graphics in that game is better than some of ps4 games, I was amazed the first time I see noatun city in chapter 1.
And grandblue fantasy owner company is rich as heck, so maybe they're not cheap with money for platinum budget. Unlike some other corporation that like to cancel games.
This is what next-gen japanese big budget games should looks like.
It is P*, of course I am paying attention. But not sure that it will be localized.
Love the art style will keep an eye on this one.
@sinalefa This game is exclusive to ps4 in japan, of course it will be localized, most japanese publisher know most ps4 audience is in english speaking country / worldwide.
@OGGamer Yeah, this is just higher quality footage.
Oh man Granblue fantasy animation season 2 coming out then high budget game anime must have sold a lot and plus that mobile game.
one of the most impressing.gameplay ever.this game ain't gold.it's platinum playa.can't wait word up son
Yeah this looks amazing, Platinum never disappoint.
My mind... the hype! It's swirling!
I initially thought the character designs were by Akihiko Yoshida when the game was first announced but later found out that it's not. Still, the game looks pretty amazing and I'm really looking forward to it.
The combat looks really fun (not surprising, given it's Platinum, but still). I'll have to keep my eye on this.
I was keeping an eye on this one but damn this looks stunning!
NieR Automata gameplay in a medieval fantasy setting... 😮 Be still my beating heart!
It looks awesome & I've been paying attention to it, but it's very hard to get excited for a game that might not even make it over here.
Damn this looks good! Won't be getting my hopes up to be playing it any time soon though.
It may not be Bayonetta but it works I suppose
Wow, looks fun. Noted.
It does look gorgeous. Looking forward to hearing a bit more about it.
after just finishing nier automata this year, and loving it so much, i see this.
damn platinum take my money already, just do it!
First time I've heard of this it's definitely on my rader now
Looks great, thanks for the higher quality video.
This looks really good. Nice to see a properly clad female character wearing actual armour!
0:38-0:42 those are some adorable little plushie children 😄
Finally an RPG on the ps4 that I can get excited about. Watching gameplay of this kinda gave me the same vibes I got when the Last Story and Xenoblade Chronicles released on the Wii. Witcher 3 was okay, but this is my idea of a true action rpg.
The author is wrong about one thing, this game did not go unnoticed. Only true ARPG fans were talking about this game since it was first mentioned a couple years ago. The problem is too many sites spend too much time focusing on the crap being spewed out by western triple A publishers rather than focusing on all games equally, just like how right now not a single major gaming site is even looking into what's happening now with Atlus' Project Re Fantasy.
@Jake3103 She has belly button armour though
@Octane At least it isn't bat nipples. Even to this very day I can't get that image out my headX{
Pfffft. I knew about this waaay before it was cool to know about this. Pfft.
HOLY COW THAT LOOKS AWESOME
it's going on my watch list that's for sure
Looks ok, a bit too cutesy fantasy for me maybe, was wondering when the Care Bears might arrive... but a solid entertaining narrative and interesting characters could definitely sway me.
This looks great!
Damn.
Watched the anime, had this game under my radar. It does look really good, makes me kinda sad that the people at Bandai-Namco can't (or won't) make a Tales of game looking this good.
@Octane Haha. Yeah, I hadn't noticed that!
It's fascinating just how popular Japanese software has become over the last few years compared to last gen, there really are some fabulous games coming out of that region on PS4....I cannot get enough of them!
looks like Tales of Berseria
Okay so apparently this is based off of an anime? I hope I don't have to watch that to play this, because this just shot up my must buy list!
Like it. Has a bit of a Fable vibe to it.
I really, really want this. What are the odds of this making an arrival in the west?
Nice!
And most people will never hear of it since Platinum doesn’t want to throw a bone to their Western fans. Personally, I’d buy this twice and let all my friends know about this.
That gameplay is slick, it reminds of kingdom hearts and dark souls!
It looks great, can't wait for it.
Im not normally one for jrpg but this looks amazing! Give me a character creater and im all in!
Looks very nice and it appears to be targetting 60fps to boot.
Looks top notch. Hope Sony helps advertise this game! Need a little bit more gameplay info before I buy though.
