The share holders requested more profits so Sony is increasing prices, again, but they will all end up pricing 80% of the market out!!!.. Seriously how many will pay 800 or more for a console next gen and 80 or more for a standard game edition? Seeing as many say GTA6 will cost that much at least. I'll say this, if the next Xbox DOES allow you to install Steam then Sony will find it very difficult to demand high game prices.

@Oram77 I can think of 10 Switch 2 exclusive first party games out or announced off the top of my head! Please when it comes to first party and new gen exclusive titles Nintendo utterly embarrasses PlayStation and anyone else. The Switch 2 is just a year old now.

Think Sony needs to fix its crap account security if it wants to charge 900 dollars for a console........ 2011 didn't teach them anything.

Sony used to offer online play for free, then it saw Microsoft charging for it and thought hey we want a piece of that money pie..

@twitchtvpat Hurman is one of the reasons Sony is IN it's mess... I will never defend that guy for his actions. He should be fired IMO.

And stories can say what ever they like, facts are the Xbox CEO, the one who says what is actually going to happen is using language against putting their games on other platforms. We will see but I fully expect Xbox to go exclusive to PC and Xbox market next gen with some games, there is a more than large enough audience to do so there for them.

This is also why I am dead against the whole age verification BS. The company Sony uses, and a lot of others do, has been sued by the Spanish government in fines as it was found guilty of holding onto peoples data and information longer then it should have, they were using it to train their Ai algorithms apparently. But imagine millions of passports, driving licenses, photos, all sat in one data storage pool literally begging to be hacked, it WILL happen.

So what is the problem point of using passkeys then? Sony has not learnt any lessons has it, it's why I still refuse to have any bank card details or address saved on my PS account. Don't trust them. About time Sony spent some of its huge profits to close obvious security holes in their processes and systems.

To this day Sony are the only company that has forced me to cancel and change bank cards because of the record breaking hack they allowed to happen due to their extremely weak security. They of all companies should be taking it seriously, if they have another mega hack I doubt the authorities will be lenient on them nor the users.

@IOI I think the very fact Sony promoted him to share leadership of PlayStation only to then demote him again almost instantly says it all.. I wish they would fire him but I don't think they will.

@twitchtvpat The language being used by their new CEO is suggesting they will be looking to keep games exclusive to Xbox and PC. We shall see but the new Gears game has not been announced for PS5.

@rjejr Well.... considering people spend 600 or 700 to only play COD or Fortnite or Minecraft I think it is pretty safe to state the market will also pay 999 to play Sony's library of exclusive single player games too. Although PS6 won't cost 999, no where near it.

GOOD! Best thing Sony has done in years now... although this has Hideaki Nishino name all over it. You can tell the Japanese are back in control of PlayStation after Ryan did his best to reck it, although he did oversee the successful PS5 launch during Covid so I'll give him that.

I think next gen will be all about exclusives, Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft will all play the exclusive game apart from the usual suspects being cross gen. But then I think next gen we will see Nintendo doing it's thing, which they turned totally in it's head last gen with the Switch, Sony will follow the same old PlayStation console path, and Microsoft will chase the average Steam PC player and the enthusiast console players.

Or just buy it from Loaded and get it discounted. Save money anyway you can on these subscriptions. And buy a years sub in one, not monthly as that's how they get you.

I am not surprised by these results in the slightest, these games have 'actually' dominated the charts for years now. And it will take a literal miracle for a competitor to come in and take the players.

Also numbers 2, 4 and 7 are not live service games, you gotta buy those to play in the first place, and a premium price if it's COD. People just want to on masse chill out and shoot others with their friends at the end of the day, and have fun, not get deep into a story driven action adventure game.

Sony has had ONE game close to these others, and its no where near the top 10 in number of players. It is a total waste of time trying to compete unless you are gong to pay hundreds of millions and hire those making these games in the top 10 in the first place. I mean Bungies Destiny isn't even in the top 10. It's a joke Sony has forced nearly ALL its studios to even attempt to compete with these goliaths, wasting their time instead of making what they are good at. It is why Microsoft bought Activision, because they damn well know they have no chance of making a game that will even approach it's level of success very year.

I don't know if it's peak. But it is the end of the best game franchise on PlayStation IMO. Considering their hasn't been any new game or news of one being developed for 10 years and counting...

Two game series I absolutely love, Uncharted and Gears Of War, and only one of those is still going..

That does NOT sound good at all, basically either charge 1300 or more for it, sell it in 2029 or 2030 praying the Ai bubble bursts by then, which I doubt, or vastly reduce it's specs, or sell it on a subscription model.....

this is what you get for having the current global economy and those contracts of previous RAM and component costs expiring. Trump along with Ai and other factors globally have all contributed to the ***** show we are now in.

Sammy, do yourself a favour and lay off the PS5 Pro koolaide hyperbole for a while eh?.. it isn't a good look for you or this website. Basically labling the OG PS5 as *****. A PC with full path tracing and DLSS upscaling will stomp on the PS5 Pro, but no one outside of pubescent fanboys and girls care... people are buying this game on the Switch 2 even if they own a PS5 or gaming PC and still having a blast.

The OG PS5 version looks very good and runs very smooth.

This is the problem with Sony now, they release a lower spec console at the start of a gen then release a higher spec one with inflated price tag mid gen, and suddenly the OG console is crap..

GOOD! The more the prise rises flatline sales, the more it'll put them off charging 900 for the PS6. Let's hope they reduce the prices soon enough when RAM and storage comes back down.

@ElkinFencer10 nope, hence why I said the PS5 will be Sonys dominant console next gen, the PS6 is going to cost 750 at least maybe even higher. And no guarantee its price won't increase from there either.

They are basically ignoring all other orders to only concentrate on all the Ai crap because they are paying them the most money, they are causing global price increases across the board whilst lining there own pockets, but that it pure capitalism for you.

No matter what Sony thinks, the PS6 going to cost from 650 to 750 easy. And the next gen just will not be as popular, simple as. The PS5 will remain the dominant console for several years now due to this. All because of Ai. I won’t be surprised even if the PS6 starts at 850 and Xbox’s new thing starts at 1200…

But hey I am more than sure NVIDIA will be only too happy to sell you a subscription to their games service…….. whist pricing you out of other games markets of course.

Meh I picked up a Legion Go 2 in December with a discount, before its price was increased, and next on my list I think will be a Switch 2 Lite when they make one for Luigi’s Mansion 4.

I have been trying to avoid all spoilers for Requiem as I am playing through it, all I have done is grabbed a guide to ensure I don’t miss any raccoons. Game is excellent though!

Nah, but I do think it is still on track for a 2027 / 28 launch. They will have been working with AMD on it for some time you can be sure of that. And it will be cheaper the the new Xbox that is basically a none upgradable PC.

Meh I’ll get a PS6 at some point, not sure if at launch or a year or two later after some iterations to its design have been made internally as usual.

Still if it wasn’t for Covid for last gen and it’s now Ai for this gen…

Nothing for me personally, just remakes almost and games I have no interest in. I played the OG GOW games when they came out. Nice to see remakes but not for me. Didn’t watch all of it though so may need to and see if any games do interest me.

It is ALL Slop, he is slop, and Ai is a bubble that will burst and whilst these CEO’s get very rich as do the share holders the consumers will be screwed over left paying the price as usual. Nvidia doesn’t want any of us to own a PC or console, they only want us to pay them a subscription fee to rent a PC from them and stream games…

Sony would do well to dump Naughty Dog.. there time has LONG gone now, and it is very disgusting they are crunching with mandatory overtime during Christmas… they are heartless and only care about the share holder and share price. From the leaked plot line it sounds just like Last Of us 2, get the gamer to have an emotional relationship to the characters then use shock and awe by killing them. Boring and unimaginative. And with branding product and galore too judging by the trailer.

AAA gaming is long dead. Smaller indies are where it is at now, Expedition 33 and Black Myth Wukon have shown that.

You keep bringing those titles to Sony Microsoft, and we will keep buying PlayStations to play them. I am hoping State Of Decay 3 comes to PlayStation also. I am now thinking that is why it was delayed?

Basically Microsoft are setting it up for them to sell you (or try to) a locks down PC, at a very premium price. I bet it's 1 grand or more. Meanwhile rumours are Sony are working on cheaper and more efficient console for next gen. But I bet it won't be less than PS5. So maybe we end up with a 550 PS6 and a 1000 Xbox Next. Microsoft have really lost the plot IMO.

Haven't played it for a while now. But I dabble now and then. I prefer it to Battlefield anyway. I hope Microsoft do not ruin it but I won't hold my hopes up...

Great top see a new gen, about time! It is the usual 7 year gap too, can't believe idiots claiming it won't be coming in 2027.. yeah sure not like every single other console generation has been 7 years long... it will also be a SIGNIFICANT upgrade this time due to AMD's work, looking forward to the big Ai push too. But PS6 WILL be weaker then the next Xbox however nay say it WILL also be cheaper. Next Xbox will literally be a Windows PC.

Yeah hope you all feel bad now cause she was 100% RIGHT! I was upset at the time of the acquisition that it made me sell my Xbox and move back to PlayStation. Because I also knew it would only lead to where Xbox and gaming is today. You wait till ads start to become prevalent in games and Sony will follow that too if they can make money from it.

For me I have to say the one so far that has impressed me the most, and I was VERY surprised it did considering it is on PS4 as well, is God Of War Ragnarok. Very impressive looking game.

Well I get tired of is the fact ALL Sony games practically are over the shoulder third person action adventure games. I remember when they also made first person shooter action games like Resistance etc..

Thankfully Sony does get a lot of third poster support so I can ignore most of its games anyway bar the ones I want, I do like Uncharted.

As for the story themselves? Meh they are alright, district writers but let’s ALL be honest, it is not like films are original is it…….

@LordVile The leaks and rumours are that the next gen Xbox will be significantly more powerful then the PS6 BUT also significantly MORE expensive, apparently it will literally just be a Windows PC so you can install Steam etc.. Meanwhile Valve will be launching it’s own home console soon based on Steam OS and the Steam store, and will most likely cost a LOT less then Microsoft’s new box, MS have literally lost the plot!
