Resident Evil 0 PS5

Suggestions of a Resident Evil 0 remake are doing the rounds again after a newly published report claims to have found casting details and a project codename.

Gaming outlet MP1ST starts by corroborating the claims from May 2024, when IGN and VGC reported that Capcom has remakes of Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica in the works. In the case of the former, the website claims the project goes under the codename "Chamber", in reference to one of the game's leads, Rebecca Chambers.

It has then been noticed that Jon McLaren, an actor who has lent his voice to Far Cry 5 and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, lists himself as a "lead" for Project Chamber, an "upcoming AAA video game". This would suggest McLaren is playing Billy Coen in the remake, replacing James Kee from the original.

The website then suggests the project will expand on certain plot details and areas seen in the Nintendo GameCube effort. Without wanting to give away spoilers, MP1ST simply teases the train conductor at the start of the game shall play a bigger role.

Less reliable reporting from other sources online suggests the Resident Evil 0 remake project is still a number of years away from releasing. It could be as far as out as 2028, with the Code Veronica remake coming in 2027, and Resident Evil Requiem in February next year.

Based on the ending to the Resident Evil 4 remake DLC, Separate Ways, it was thought Capcom would be working on a remake of Resident Evil 5 next. However, all rumours and speculation have pointed towards the publisher going back to its earlier GameCube and PS2 titles.

For now, it's got Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 all remade with current-gen visuals. While Resident Evil 0 first started out as a Nintendo GameCube exclusive in 2002, it was later ported to PS3 and PS4, making it easily accessible on PS5 via backwards compatibility.
