Sony has the most direct marketing ever. They already have our email addresses and probably a ton of credit card info too. All they had to do was send a notification through the PS4... asking anyone if they wanted to be reserved for a PS5. Then once the release happens, everyone that’s already playing a Sony could upgrade. Instead they sold it as product on a shelf and scalpers snagged them all. That’s fine, I can wait. Still have a backlog of old games to finish... but, had they come to me first, I would’ve upgraded. Not like there’s a debate between PS5 and Xbox.
I understand what he’s saying. I started on the Atari... played countless hours of Pac Man... not even the fancy color one with the fruits... I’m talking the old black and white. Decades later, the PS2 had a Namco disc with all the old classics. I played it for a day, remembered what it was like... then never opened that box again. Fast forward to now, my mom came to visit for Mother’s Day, I popped in Miles Morales and she was blown away. So yeah, I see where the dude is coming from when he looks back and wonders why... having said that, after shelving Avengers, I dove deep into ME1-3 and found Arkham for $12. Here I am playing old games, albeit slightly upgraded, and enjoying them all once again. Although this was my first glimpse at the original Mass Effect, and it was amazing.
It’s like I wrote this article. Same thing... never played before, didn’t understand the history or storyline up to that point. Hated it for 5 hours until I realized... it’s not so much a game, as an anime with cut scene action fighting sprinkled in. The pacing took me out of the game several times. The cut scenes could be way shorter and walking and talking is a thing... right? At 14 hours I almost quit... but, after a few hours, went back. Ended up finishing the game, or at least part 1 of the Remake. The combat was fun, but it takes a long time to get used to switching characters and popping their spells and building up ATB (and why wouldn’t you go into battle fully charged???) and doing special moves etc. All in all, solid game, enjoyed it. I’d give it 85/100, will buy part 2 when it comes and am eagerly awaiting the arrival of XV that I already purchased.
Why not just finish 1313 and release that? Battlefront 3, the original GOOD Battlefront not the ea ones, was canned as well before completion. Upscale it for next generation and release it, then if you absolutely have to... add in the sequel junk for DLC. That’s 2 right there ready to get finished.
Granted, I’m sure, there’s tons of legalese to Wade through with rights and whatnot.
I will agree the Greek Gods are hardly sympathetic and would be hard to be true to them and then empathize with their tribulations. And, after playing the latest God of War, I can see the Nordic Gods going down that same route too since we already blitzed Thor’s (in that game) kids, I doubt he’d be friendly and understanding. I was, more or less, referring to the adulation that Marvel’s version of Thor gets. I say that as I have a replica of Mjölnir six feet away from me, so I’m a little biased. The ancient gods were often depicted as cruel sometimes and abusing humanity for sport, modern reinterpretations can go either way with them, as either benevolent or just plain dicks. Just depends on what the story needs from them. Either way, I look forward to the next God of War, bring on the Thunder.
I’ll be honest, none of these tickle my fancy, but that’s why I have the Avengers for now and Valhalla coming next week. Maybe down the road if I’m bored I’ll check them out. Just my opinion.
For those Avenging and working on leveling up a faction, you can disconnect your internet and manually change the date to reset the faction clocks, crank out more points in a day and get more Polychoron for the major artifact.
I would’ve released the game at the end of this month. By the time the Avengers starts to lose interest, AC Valhalla would’ve been ripe for plucking. Well before Cyberpunk drops...
@W0rl0ck Part of one is a sabotage and my IronMan is 14/44 and I never did the Harm training and now it’s sooooo hard. I’ve spent the last however long it’s been just trying to get past that 3rd wave. Smh...
Very well written article, shares about the same sentiments as I have... but... I’ll add one more con.
CON: Can’t replay campaign missions. Warning for those who haven’t finished the Titan mission. FIND THE BOX that gives you a DNA unlock key, you’ll need it later. I don’t know how I missed it, probably because Jarvis kept screaming to hurry up and probably some timer or something... but so far, have had to leave several other boxes locked and unopened because I missed that one key.
@ohhaime I’m gonna let you in a little fun part. Once you get to the last mission and Tony gives out Starktech outfits... pay close attention. Kamala has the absolute best line in the whole game and it had me rolling. I won’t spoil it, but just pay extra attention to the cut scene.
@RBMango Not just cosmetics, but also hard to acquire resources that help upgrade gear. THAT part is annoying... I can leave the dress up roleplaying to the kids, I just wanted the resources that are locked behind a paywall.
@Cutmastavictory If they just use the game as a base, keep adding more characters and storylines, I’ll like it more. I’m about to delete the game and go back and restart the campaign again... because I apparently missed a DNA key on the Titan level... and as of yet, you can’t go back to replay them. That’s a bit annoying. Especially after getting Kamala and Tony up 15/45 with some epic gear. I’ve also opted not to buy the battle pass, as spending another $60 after spending $60 to buy the game seems ridiculous, especially for cosmetics that don’t affect the game. Other than those complaints, I did enjoy the game.
@Cutmastavictory oh yeah, sure... for 20 levels... then it’s lather, rinse and repeat for the ‘grind’... I beat the game in 3 days and I wasn’t even trying, I expected a nice long campaign full of fun storylines... don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate the game, just a little disappointed. I don’t do online multiplayer, nor do I ‘grind’ out the same level over and over and over and over... if I liked that type of work, I’d be in a factory.
@Dominatso Next time someone calls you an Uncle Tom, you should mention to them that he was the hero of the book and a great man. How it became a negative connotation is beyond me, he survived hardship after hardship, helped a ton of people along the way and when he was killed, laying there dying... dude forgave his killers, who then bettered themselves. How is that an insult..?
Check out YoungRippa on YouTube, he has similar opinions on what he calls the tokenization of comics. Personally, I can see both sides of the argument, but there’s only so far you can take a character before you run out of stories and gender/race swapping is an easy out. And while I love Spidey, Batman, etc... I like to take each case independently... sometimes I end up enjoying the stories, others it’s a one and done. Done right it shouldn’t feel forced, but be more of an organic transition for both old and new characters.
@Dominatso Can’t speak for the peanut gallery, but I’d totally love to play a Black Panther game set in Wakanda and other locales. Or, a Moon Knight game... Blade would make an excellent game too, though I’m a Snipes fan through and through, no opinion on the upcoming one yet. Luke Cage would be a fun game if they brought in Iron Fist and made it a 2 player co-op game. Heroes for Hire, cleaning up NYC one block at a time...
But yeah... there’s not a lot to choose from for those of higher melanin content. They did swap Hawkeye for Kamala Khan in the upcoming Marvel game.
Personally, I don’t care gender/color/whatever the character is the game, as long as it’s fun. I have the same amount of fun regardless, most recently being a ‘samurai’ with Ghost of Tsushima.
Neat little gift for the employees, I wouldn’t mind one of those myself. As far as the whole ‘platinum’ thing goes, out of the 80 or so ps4 games and uncountable numbers of 3, 2 & 1’s... (I don’t know when trophies became a thing), this is the first game I did 100% on. Sure, it was easy enough, but wow was it fun. Visually stunning the story was top tier, even a bit emotional at times.
My only real gripe, too short. I spent the last month replaying Witcher 3 & and it’s respective DLCs and finally got all the happy endings... on my 3rd playthrough with the help of the interwebs. Only time I used for this game was trying to finish off trophies for silly things... yeah, talking to you Legendary Thief trophy.
I hope for more adventures with Jin Sakai... or... maybe a sequel on Tomoe, since she’s based off a real person with extraordinary achievements.

@TheFrenchiestFry , that’s why I just use Spidey. I do, however, know there is supposed to be a hyphen.
Re: Poll: Who's Your Favourite Mass Effect Legendary Edition Squadmate?
@Juanalf one part intergalactic Indiana Jones, one part Star Wars, add a dash of Shadow Broker and let the fun begin. I’d play that.

Loved it so much I beat it twice. Top 5 all time fave for me.

Ok. Face meet palm... under Objectives, under Missions... ok... got it. I’m blaming Spidey’s girlfriend for that one. 😜🔥🌿💨
