@Hyper_Hippy_Gaming the frame rate alone is better and in VR, that can make a huge difference to some people who might otherwise get motion sickness from playing (thankfully not a problem I have. I can play for hours).
It's a real shame how the Pro's positive impact on the PSVR2's performance continues to be ignored by nearly every outlet. I don't regret either day one purchase, but the combo is great and often overlooked.
@Sketti you do realize there are permanent upgrades? Plus several items you can pick up that will save you from death, etc? Not being snarky, I’m legitimately asking.
Returnal gets easier the more you progress and play. You just have to crack the gameplay loop.
It’s perfectly fine if you don’t like it, different strokes and all that, I’m just curious.
I guess it’s crazy to me because I am, by most accounts, a pretty casual gamer. I don’t really play souls games, either. I did beat Elden Ring before my friends, but I never finished Demon’s Souls (one of my first PS5 games). I got very frustrated with it. For some reason, I just get into a groove with Returnal that I guess a lot of other players don’t. Maybe the fast pace suits me more than Demon’s Souls, which I found to be a slog. A beautiful slog, but a slog, nonetheless.
Returnal is one of only a few games I've bothered to Platinum (still only 1.5% of players have, which is crazy). If we get more quality games like it, I'll be there to check them out.
I've been playing experimentally on my iPad at work during lunch hours for a few months now, and it's worked really well, so I was already planning to ask for a Portal for the holidays, but now I'm definitely going to.
I've been planning on asking for one for the holidays. For the past two months or so, I've been remote playing on my breaks at work with my iPad and a controller. It's been great, but it'd be nice to not have to lug those two things around, especially with how expensive the iPad was. A dedicated device sounds good and it's relatively cheap.
Personally I've been loving the collection. Heck, I think that the documentary is worth the price of admission alone. As far as the games themselves, yeah, they're difficult, but they've always been difficult. I can still beat them in the collection, just like I could beat them as a kid. Any offline lag hasn't bothered me on the Pro, if there even is any. I've even remote played with no issues. The original games were always kind of clunky, IMO. I love them, anyway. I can't speak to online because I have no intention to play online.
I've been really happy with it so far. It's worth noting that I have zero desire to play this with anyone who isn't sitting on the couch next to me, so I couldn't care less about online. I just wish I could remap the rewind button because I keep triggering it on accident.
@rat-paradise It depends on how you play it. I detest survival games, but this game gives you a ton of freedom in customizing it to how you personally want to play. I play a completely stress-free version where I get to just explore with no real consequences. I play it to relax.
Destiny was the most "over promised, under delivered" game I played last generation. I still put a year or more into it (I think it's still one of my most-played games ever, other than Skyrim), but that disappointment never really washed away for me.
This was my GOTY when it released because I'm a huge RoboCop fan. Got the Plat (when I really don't care about trophies) and I think I'm somewhere on my fifth playthrough.
@Liamsufc1 "People on the internet" are... you know... actual people... just people outside of the bubble of your friend group. The world is pretty big.
@LiamCroft Would you say playing the first game is a requirement to know what's going on? I never had much interest in the first, but this one seems interesting to me for some reason.
I've had just the basic PS+ for... I don't even know how many years, but I canceled it last month. I can't remember the last monthly game I actually played and I don't play multiplayer. Ever. I didn't see the point in keeping it.
I've played most, if not all, of the GTA games as they released (yes, even the top down first one) and I can't say with certainty that I've ever actually finished a campaign.
Heck, I never even finished the John section of RDR2.
That said, I sure do enjoy the sandbox Rockstar gives us.
Playing on Pro in "Enhanced" mode. Game looks great, but it always did anyway. Personally, I really prefer the new lighting. Night looks so much darker and more realistic. If one prefers the old lighting, there's always the old version, almost like the Director's Cut vs Theatrical version of a film.
I'm not someone who cares about trophies so Returnal being one of only 3 Platinums I have over hundreds of games should say a lot for how much I enjoyed it.
I love Days Gone. Have since Day 1. I've completed it several times and enjoy it more than the Last of Us series (though I like them, too), not because I think it's a better written game, but because it's more fun as an action-oriented video game, and I like my games to be fun. This "cash grab" (I spent more on my McDonald's breakfast this morning, but whatever) is a welcome one for me and I've been loving it with the Dualsense upgrades, etc.
If you don't like it, don't buy it, but don't be daft, it DOES have a fan base. It just had a "late to the party" one and we're still hoping for a sequel. If playing this helps show interest in that, all the better.
I legit gasped out loud when I saw the trailer for this on my YouTube feed. I'm hyped! It also sounds like a RoboCop-ified version of the story from the Dredd film, which is awesome.

I played it a bit on my lunch break yesterday and love it so far.

I've been chomping at the bit for Cosmic Invasion for months.

Re: Returnal's Influence Expands with PS5 Roguelite Shooter ARMATUS
@Sketti I think it’s safe to say you’re in the minority on that opinion. It’s plenty of progression if you’re good enough at the game.

Re: Returnal's Influence Expands with PS5 Roguelite Shooter ARMATUS
@Brundleflies21 I finished doing everything there is to do in it four years ago, and I still fire it up from time to time. Gameplay is peak.

I could say a lot about a heavily AI assisted live service game but I think I can sum it up with, "Eew. No."

I honestly haven’t gotten around to it yet.

MORTAL KOMBAT!!!!!!!!

Not soon enough 😆 I want this yesterday.

Re: Ghost of Yotei (PS5) - The Greatest Sucker Punch Game Ever
Once I got used to the combat, I loved "Lethal" mode in the first game. I hope this game has that setting.
Re: RoboCop Collection Bundles Rogue City and Unfinished Business, Out Next Month on PS5
@koverby I doubt you're the only one, but I can't join you. I completed RC at least five times and UB twice.

@maybemaybemaybe indeed! And I was wrong, it's enabled automatically (my update finally downloaded).
Re: No Man's Sky Voyagers Reinvents Player Ships in Latest Free Mega-Update on PS5, PS4
It also adds PSSR to the Pro version (you have to enable it, though). The clarity is unreal.

Yes, please! Huge MOTU fan, here, as my avatar shows.
Re: RoboCop: Rogue City - Unfinished Business (PS5) - Standalone Mini-Sequel Just Misses the Mark
Mine downloaded days ago and I'm pretty sure a "before day one" patch downloaded too, so maybe they fixed a few things.

Of course I'm getting this.

Re: RoboCop: Rogue City's Expansion Gameplay Is All Action, and We Ain't Complaining
I'm stoked for this one. Rogue City was one of my rare Platinums, and then I kept playing.

I just expect games to be delayed these days. No biggie.

Re: Days Gone Remastered (PS5) - The Definitive Version of a True Fan-Favourite
@Elodin not Liam, but yes. You can import a save, even a NG+ save, though if you want to start a NEW NG+, you'll have to import a regular save.
Re: Days Gone Remastered (PS5) - The Definitive Version of a True Fan-Favourite
@MrPeanutbutterz technically?
Mutants.
They aren't made of decaying flesh.
They don't look like classic undead.
You don't turn into one from being bitten.
You don't have to shoot them in the head to kill them.
There are multiple varieties and classes, each with different powers and behaviors.
They act like animals by moving in herds, hibernating in caves, etc.
There are also mutated bears and wolves.
Not zombies.
Re: Days Gone Remastered (PS5) - The Definitive Version of a True Fan-Favourite
One of my favorite PS4 era games. Played it a few times and again on PS5. Now playing this version on the Pro. Still loads of fun.
Re: Site News: Where's Our Days Gone Remastered PS5 Review?
I love Days Gone. Have since Day 1. I've completed it several times and enjoy it more than the Last of Us series (though I like them, too), not because I think it's a better written game, but because it's more fun as an action-oriented video game, and I like my games to be fun. Re: PSVR2 Gets Enormous Price Reduction Starting March 2025
I've had mine since it launched and I love it. Would recommend if you're interested.
Re: PS5 Fans Are Pondering the Point of Days Gone Remastered After Graphics Comparison Emerges
I love Days Gone. I've completed it a few times. For $10 I'm in, but I may not play through the entire game again. Depends on the Pro support and what gameplay is like.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2?
I didn't vote because I've been too busy working to play it (I don't even have my horse back yet), but I'm liking it better than the first so far. I gave up on that one (mostly because I was just bad at it).
Re: Shuhei Yoshida on PSVR2: 'I'm Sorry'
I've had mine since launch and still play it every few days. The price was obviously the biggest hurdle, though.
Re: Do You Put Your PS5 in Rest Mode or Shut It Down?
It depends. Will I play again in a few hours? Rest mode. If not? Shut down.
Mostly because we tend to lose power on occasion where I live.
Re: Game of the Year: #4 - Stellar Blade
This is the only game this year that I finished and then immediately started the NG+. It’s just fun.
Some of the other games on this list, I’ve never even heard of and I certainly have no interest in FF7 or whatever that poker game is.
Tastes are an interesting thing 😆
Most of the other games I’ve enjoyed this year have been VR.
Re: Game of the Year: #8 - Dragon's Dogma 2
I played this for a number of hours and enjoyed it, but I got distracted by other games that are more fun. I'll get back to it eventually.
Re: Elden Ring: Nightreign Explained, Can Be Played in Single Player and Offline
This kind of sounds like Elden Ring and the Tower of Sisyphus from Returnal mashed up to me. Hmm.... 🤔
Re: Behemoth (PSVR2) - Great Concept, Poor Execution
@AaronBayne OK, cool. I'll just chalk it up to different tastes/expectations because I've really enjoyed the game.
