@rpg2000 I know right? How many clicks of download this game on gamepass does it take to financially equal one purchase of the game full price? And what other lovely small print is in the way to stop a mere 'download this game' click from actually paying out in any meaningful way?
@Serialsid I'm sure Sony must have some clout when it comes to Xbox deciding if they want a third party release on gamepass. Contracts Sony can update regarding third party releases to favour Sony platforms. And all this sales differential will help their case. If Sony decides to throw up a hurdle with a clause like "Don't sell your game to our players full price and allow Microsoft first day gamepass or else you forfeit your game being on our platform full stop.'. Actual third party exclusives don't seem like a good idea on Xbox as they aren't selling and you don't want to put it on gamepass as it will sabotage sales on ps. This is an interesting emerging dynamic.
@Fiendish-Beaver Xbox might have hundreds of games to play on gamepass but ps owners are not short on games. And if a ps owner wants to have access to over 800 games then a simple subscription to psnow fixes that. I think Microsoft have did a very good job of psychologically halting new game hype on their platform. This is good for Microsoft, not good for ANYBODY else.
@J2theEzzo Is it anything like Kena? I'm just about to platinum that and love it. I do admit the rabbit hero does look quite intriguing. Also, does it go at 60fps? No ps5 patch is a point against it.
@Fiendish-Beaver There are other games that are bucking the trend too. Psychonauts 2 sold better on ps and there has not been a physical release at all. Psychonauts was tied to OG Xbox marketing and sold not great. Later ps ports also sold not great.
Regarding psychonauts, I have a real bugbear here. Microsoft have obviously made more money on psychonauts 2 on ps than Xbox and they haven't realeased a simple patch to let ps5 play at a higher spec. Even though a few months ago PS4 devkits received an update to allow better access to ps5 resources using backwards compat. We often hear about Sony regarding unethical ps5 from ps4 practices(in reality, a small handful of games) and yet Microsoft just made money out of ps owners and has not fixed psych2.
If they have fixed psychonauts 2 on ps5 I stand corrected.
@Residentsteven Maybe your just fatigued at open world games? It happens. What keeps my interest in these games is playing at a higher difficulty than normal. If I'm recieving no kickback from a game I lose interest too. There's something to be said about getting your ass handed to you routinely π
@Crowley22g Enjoy. There are even certain combinations of smaller enemies that are like 'Oh COME ON!!!'. And there are certain cursed chests I am NOT looking forward to. Flying moth enemies on hard mode took 1 charged arrow to kill. Now it's like 2.3. π€
@Odium Those bosses though. They just keep getting harder. And on master mode if you take damage you lose courage and thus rot charges. Going through it faster than 1st play though because I now know the map and rot locations.
@Integrity Exactly. What games company will stick with non streaming? I don't want to stream games I'd rather console but there will prob be a big push starting with Xbox prioritising Xbox chipsets for virtual console gating. So we'll be buying access to a console that's not ours over the internet. I cannot fathom buying a digital game for play on a virtual console online.
@lolwhatno I don't know about that, but does vrr automatically unlock the frame rate of games? Ie they'll always be above 60 or below 60 but never really locked to 60?
What a lovely, unexpected little feature π. But please remove download time from play time. Otherwise this is great. Bear in mind, the inevitable backlash against download time being involved will be great free marketing. I bet richreviewtech will be drooling as we speak π
@Spiders The new world order statement is in relation to the term 'poverty management' which I think Bill gates coined. You make everything cheaper and too good to be true, then you help lower the economics strength of the globe. 'You will own NOTHING and be HAPPY'
Im sorry, the last thing I see is Microsoft being benevolent. That's a very convenient face and I do not buy it.
The point regarding the merger, if another big company allows more financial freedom for Sony Playstation division that could be a boon for both in a world of interactive entertainment in which it looks like Microsoft is want to dominate if not outright own. The point here is competition is best. Sony are doing a remarkable job of keeping a company 25x their size on their toes. But we can't kid ourselves. Microsoft have unlimited lives in this world, and it looks like if Microsoft were to dominate a gen at this stage there would be no Sony Playstation.
We know that Amazon, Google, Netflix, tencent, Disney at least all megahuge companies(maybe with the exception of Netflix) want a presence in interactive entertainment. With ps5 flying and vr2 coming out next year, I think it would be highly encumbent of any these companies to merge with Sony. Also as Sony keeps snapping up talent and producing great games this can't have gone unnoticed while Microsoft try to rupture the entire industry with their new world order. Thoughts?
This is maybe the reason Barlog didn't come on his stream...? Also, what part did he play in creating God of War? Weren't there 3 creators? I don't know.
@4kgk2 Those games have sold very well considering the size of the install base. The ratio is very impressive, which some don't seem to take into account. It's not an exact science the scaling over install base but I bet there is relative safety in the assumptions π€
It would be AWESOME if during the chat he casually dropped that PS1 and PS2 emulation us coming to the ps5, before dropping the mic into the fire while apologising profusely while the production crew try to fish it out; smoke and sparks everywhere.
@Ralizah Also relatively, multiplayer on pc is usually a free for all for all such crazy behaviour. Including hacking, cheating, piracy to name a few. If I play multiplayer I want roughly a stable playing field. Ps plus always includes free games.
@Ralizah How many games (first party) are requiring extra money to play in upgraded form on ps5? The PS5 runs all 4,500 PS4 games. I don't imagine they will ignore PS1 and 2 games. I see it coming soon. PS3 is a bit more complex, I don't see that happening properly for a few years. I think the PS3 threw the simplicity of the whole process out the window. But the adoption of x86 probably means there won't be any move to change away from it. All coming gens will probably inherit the last gens now.
@NEStalgia I don't know if I can say the BC system on the ps5 is half hearted. I mean at a hardware level the ps5 is running the ps4 code! Half hearted would be a crappy emulator. Now I agree on PS1/PS2 emulation. There's been a lot of fan cooperation in bringing a great emulation scene for these 2...I think even the PS2 emulation offers trophy like features. Sony needs to step in and use this already existant tech and get the PS2 at least integrated into ps5. The PS3 is a different beast at this point. Even the most powerful pcs aren't running the best first party software through emulators properly. So I think PS3 emulation is a bit off, maybe ps5pro or ps6. Now it's interesting you are assuming ps8 won't run PS4 games. Sony is now firmly on x86 ground and that's going to be a huge plus for future emulation of older systems. The difference is that PS1/PS2/PS3 all used fundamentally different architecture from each other. And the PS3 could blitz the older CPU code because of its immense speed. I'd love PS1/PS2 games with trophies. Sony would make a lot of money out of me π

@JJ2 the DRM was solved literally weeks ago, and the stats have painted the same picture since these machines launched though.

@Ward_ting Yeah demos rarely start from the start. This is a good idea. Also they should sort out the kinks.

So I can download this as Guest, then play it full time with my own profile?
Re: Biomutant on PS4 Part of Sony's Free Game Trial Service This Month
@J2theEzzo Ok. It's 60fps, at 1080p which I can live with. So I might try it after all.
