Re: UK Sales Charts: Lost Judgment the Latest Game to Sell Best on PS5

KayOL77

@NEStalgia For the record I'm not attacking you for wanting to buy on digital only Xbox third party games. I've bought tons of games on PSN and I've never felt any level of the piss being took out of me. My digital collection is alive and well and I buy stuff I like and I won't want to return. And now all ps4s can play physical and digital games without a CMOS battery OR internet connection/validation.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Lost Judgment the Latest Game to Sell Best on PS5

KayOL77

@Sakisa Hmmm. What about rocket league and fall guys? Hugely successful metrics on ps plus helped sell those games across all formats. But in general I would agree that Sony should concentrate some more on Indies. But then they do use playstation promotional videos where only show indie games. There is always room for improvement.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Lost Judgment the Latest Game to Sell Best on PS5

KayOL77

@Sakisa With the data that available to us so far, it does not look like games are selling as much on Xbox. I'm assuming most people on Xbox have gamepass which is not unreasonable. So I am linking the two. Also Microsoft is not posting figures, and those on gamepass seem to be NDAd to the hilt. Does this mean that there is preferential treatment if you are a higher status publisher? Is ea going to get more of each person's £120 per year per download of a game than say a smaller publisher who is just as prolific? If not, why isn't this information available?

Re: UK Sales Charts: Lost Judgment the Latest Game to Sell Best on PS5

KayOL77

@NEStalgia I think we can't assume Xbox digital sales are greater than digital ps sales because their is next to no data, and Xbox isn't as popular as ps. Nor is it likely to really ever sell as much. And ps has those launch physical games dominating. Launch sales are good because they show the immediate flash of popularity of a title, and this shows the potential reverbations of future sales. There are games that start slow and then speed up but they are not numerable.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Lost Judgment the Latest Game to Sell Best on PS5

KayOL77

@Voltan I too am not bashing Xbox. I'm not convinced gamepass is good for the industry. In regards to physical Vs digital, I would ask what is the amount of unique posters on this site over say the last two months? And then I would ask, are they a good demographic to scale up and make that assumption? Anecdotal evidence:. I bought quake on ps5. It has crossplay and most of my friends managed to get xboxes on launch. They gamepassed the game briefly for crossplay multiplayer. They stopped playing after it. I am 80+ hours in and 64% trophies. They didn't buy quake. None of them. 1 ps owner, 4 series X owners. Anecdotal yes. But just as relevent as your own anecdotal evidence(NEStalgia).

Re: UK Sales Charts: Lost Judgment the Latest Game to Sell Best on PS5

KayOL77

@NEStalgia Your implying a lot of ps owners are not only digital. I am only digital. Where are the statistics from Microsoft? Even the NPD counts digital AND physical, and ps games were vastly outselling Xbox equivelents. I can't agree with your viewpoint because there is no backup evidence. 20% extra gp purchases? Fine. Where? Show me the numbers. Have the balls. Otherwise it's not very believable your 'You don't need to see my identification.' reply.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Lost Judgment the Latest Game to Sell Best on PS5

KayOL77

@Voltan This would be a good time for Sony to update their third party game release timings contract. If ms is going to try and hold the industry ransom for putting games on gamepass, then Sony need to remind the industry that the lion share of the profits are because of Sony's platform. A nice little 'If you want to put a game on our platform, fine, but there will be complications if you choose to release said game on rival format on subscription at launch.'

Re: UK Sales Charts: Lost Judgment the Latest Game to Sell Best on PS5

KayOL77

@Voltan If you go all out advertising a console from a subscription service, the result it seems is that your games sales pretty much die. If we assume Xbox is making up in digital sales, we have to assume ps is doing the same. I don't see how the industry can just ignore this alarming statistic. UK was a good territory for Xbox, one of the better ones in the world.

Re: Reaction: Messy Ghost of Tsushima Upgrade Makes PS5 for the Payers

KayOL77

@yellowdog05 MS spent 7.5bn on a company that has nothing to show for a considerable time yet recouped that money in about 2 months. Microsoft don't make losses. Not at this stage of development. Ther is no fun, no excitement, no romance in watching a Goliath stomp David into the ground. Not for most of us anyways.

Re: Reaction: Messy Ghost of Tsushima Upgrade Makes PS5 for the Payers

KayOL77

@Omnistalgic Absolutely agree mate. Microsoft is about 20 times the size of Sony and cannot spend it's money faster than it recoups it. What we are seeing here is Microsoft attempting to grab a major influencial role in every piece of interactive media on the planet. They just want all competitors out of the market. They are not interested in competition. Having choice in this world is a mark of freedom. Sony who want to spend lots to make exceptionally well made games and sell them to make money and repeat are not the bad guys in this dynamic. Not in the slightest. Microsoft pretending Sony are the Goliath's is an absolute perversion and people celebrating Microsoft coming out on top in this "fair" struggle are unconsciously bringing in a world without choice and hurting humanity beyond words. This is totalitarianism in the making.

Re: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Has 60FPS, Ray Tracing Mode at Launch

KayOL77

@Alpha_Pulse I agree. The definitive versions of first party games on PS4 are on the ps5. I think Sony said they made 5% revenue from ps5 as compared to like 80-90 on PS4, and they see the ps5 jump to about 30% in a year(my figures might be a bit off here). The PS4 was actually a vastly underestimated wildcard at the start of this gen. The more Sony are making, the more they are also investing in new games. Ethically, and also for gamers the PlayStation platform is win-win. They WANT to make good games that sell well, and we WANT good games. Symbiosis. 🤣

Re: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Has 60FPS, Ray Tracing Mode at Launch

KayOL77

@Loftimus In the uk we often pay more...I understand that it is not logical for digital goods to cost more...unless we also pay VAT on digital, I haven’t checked this. I suppose what I’m trying to say is that I paid £70 for it, and it still hasn’t let me go. I’d kind of be a fool to decry it’s worth at a personal subjective level. I feel I AM getting my money’s worth.

Re: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Has 60FPS, Ray Tracing Mode at Launch

KayOL77

@blinx01 If you made the ps4pro do exactly the same game as the ps5 version of Spider-Man, it would absolutely crawl. 5-10fps? But if you let it take the time it needed it could and would generate image quality similar to ps5. Except the ps5 belts it along at 60fps. With newly added ML suit/body interaction. The crowd density was cut a little. The streets are still heaving. I don’t understand your not appreciating the new formats capabilities.

Re: Biomutant (PS4) - The Classic Case of What Could Have Been

KayOL77

@KundaliniRising333 I agree. It maybe easier to get that result on one console. But that proves the other needs tlc. Especially as you’ll be selling more probably on that format. I know the ps5 has tremendous capabilities. It might not quite be at the level of xsx, but it’s not THAT big a difference. Not even 1800p? Not even checkerboard 4k? No thanks. Not good enough for my money.

Re: Biomutant (PS4) - The Classic Case of What Could Have Been

KayOL77

@KundaliniRising333 The difference in resolution killed it for me. I don’t mind 1080p. But when the xsx version hits 4k I can see the priority level at pushing the xsx hardware. If you are going to visibly favour one system then no sale for me. I don’t want an xsx either. So it’s a loss for the company. Which is a shame because the lions share of console sales are playstation sales.

Re: Hades Could Finally Be Coming to PlayStation

KayOL77

@nessisonett If a company decides to invest a lot of money in a game to differentiate itself from the competition, it’s not unreasonable to expect a good return. Fair enough regarding the bugs. I’m very happy with returnal. About 30 hours in. 4th biome. It’s like crack. I’ve just got to have another shot. As long as Sony is willing to make good games(and they are) I’ll reward that. I want more you see.
