Also, Sony have been like this since ps5 launch. Stealth dropping features. I remember the hullabaloo regarding PS4 back-compat. Cerny said the top 100 games will all work. Turns out within like a week or two pretty much 4000+ worked. The joy at finding all this out is the other side of the coin of not communicating. 😋

Some games it will be very easy to add trophies to depending if the save game in question is tracking specific events in-game. But unusual trophies may be harder to do.

Guys when you actually think about this...Extra is phenomenal value for money.

It has pretty much EVERYTHING Plus and Now has and a boatload more including now year old ps5 games.

I feel this is a powerful move to also win over Xbox players. They have argued that a good quality subscription service with great games is a win-win. Well with extra you get pretty much ALL PS4 and year old ps5 games bundled. This is Plus Collection and new games not on yet. This will bring non-ps players into the fold of playing the great ps games the rest of us all have been playing and also getting those same players to expect more from ms studios.

There are probably MANY more announcements to come before next month as well.

Can't wait!

Ps:. It can't hurt that the phenomenal demon's souls remake is now on there too, to mop up new Elden ring fans.

@nomither6 ...and I have the freedom to take part in a managed online environment. Not to mention all the PSplus discounts that come with that small fee. Oh and switching off pc crossplay. What about the free PSplus games too? The cloud save stuff? The psplus collection on ps5? See all the freedom I have in using that service?

@nomither6 Regarding paywall for online. Your dealing with a ring-fenced system. That takes resources to manage. Try playing in the wild-west of free pc online play. You don't know if your dealing with an outright cheater or trying to hack your personal details.

@TooBarFoo ...but your right regarding the more abstract trophies. If the code on original hardware for instance isn't checking for obscure events then it also won't be logging them so adding trophies for those would be difficult. Maybe the actual emulator would have a profile per game for the emulator to keep check on these events? But I don't think it's simple to do that...not impossible mind if you have a dedicated fanbase of ROM hackers and emulation purists who have already plunged into these icy depths.

@TooBarFoo if I'm not mistaken, pc emulators have trophies for PS1 and PS2 games so somebody somewhere has done this work...it's a matter of Sony finding the people and reimbursing them.

@jrt87 Plus the updated versions of each game seem to be custom built based on Christian Whitehead's painstakingly made engine derived from systematic observation of the originals. This is not just ROMs.

Also, if this collection is perfect it would be the definitive sonic one. No need to buy in the future on differing devices(assuming all consoles now being made at least emulate PS4+xbo era)

@Rural-Bandit I think one of the biggest draws for me is (hopefully) finally allowing the sonic 3 knuckles combo to work as fully intended. I might be wrong but I'm sure the Saturn sonic collection game had the feature...I'm even remembering the graphics of the sonic3 inserting smoothly with s+k cartridge? Maybe this is why we don't have a Saturn emulator on consoles 🧐🙈

@ChromaticDracula I understand the principle totally. And the time when stuff is unavailable IS annoying. I but mostly digital these days, but a server outage usually means licences can't be authenticated which is a pain. As long as the downtime isn't too severe or sporadic I'll allow it. Is it right that you can play gt7 offline but your race scores will not be counted? If not they should allow personal bests offline but only online races count in leaderboards and things. That might be a nice balance if it's not like that already.
