I have not played either and will gladly download them. I am buried in large, open world games and smaller titles offer a refreshing change. Thank you PSN!
I intially liked Days Gone. After 10 hours of gameplay, I'm beginning to love it. Bend Studios is patching things up quickly and the free updates/dlc ahead strengthens my impressions
There are two major gripes about Days Gone: The bugs and glitches, and the unoriginal gameplay. I have been fortunate to not experience too many hiccups in my 10 hours of playtime, but it is encouraging to hear that Bend Studios are devoted to improving the game. Skyrim was released with many more issues, yet that game is view as an all time great. Regarding the cookie cutter design, do other franchises receive the same criticisms when warranted? Think COD, or Assassin's Creed or Madden. A review is by nature an opinion, but Days Gone deserves more praise than a 5 or a 6. I hope the gamers respond appropriately with their wallets. It looks like that's what's happening, at least in the UK.
After a few hours into Days Gone, the score of 7 seems fair. The game shines at some moments, falls flat during others. Maybe some Monster Hunter World Spring festival sprinkled in as well.
@get2sammyb Thanks for the review. Can a player get plenty of enjoyment from simply exploring the environment? Is there plenty of collectables, wildlife and natural landmarks to keep them engaged? I expected the story to be cheese, but hoping for some quality exploration off of the main path.
My main concern is the performance of the game. I hope they can patch up the glitches and stabilize the frame rate. Other than that, this looks like a fun "guilty pleasure " type of game. The studio appears to be prepared to support the game quite a bit after launch so hopefully it will improve over time.
I bought a PS4 to play Monster Hunter World. I keep playing the console for all of its amazing exclusives. I always proclaimed that Nintendo has the best exclusive games lineup. That label belongs to Sony this generation.
I'm curious to see which Castlevania games will be added. If the GBA games are included, it's a no brainer purchase for me. The more Castlevania the better.
I'm not much of a ranked list guy but Hollow Knight would likely be in my top ten of favorite games ever. I already bought it digitally and am not interested in collecting more stuff so I'm passing here. But as far as special editions go, this set is , um, special.
I haven't played Witness yet but agree with the reviewer that a "10"" does not reflect perfection, but a game that belongs in the cream of the crop, sort of speak. The grading scale is there to measure a game against others and without "10's", there would be no "9's" with anything greater to judge it against. So therefore a 9( or 9.9 I suppose) would be the new 10 and that's just silly sauce.
@doctommaso typically I would agree 100% but the MLB doesn't have a salary cap and landing a star would have been nice, or at the very least, interesting.
A battle royale tourney at a retirement community would be fire. I'll be playing as long as my mind and body allows it. My back already has taken away my other passions of basketball and distance running. I'll be damned to lose gaming as well.
MHW is my most played game of 2018, and very likely 2019. Thankful to beat the Ancient Leshen this morning, with the help of three quailty hunters. That bugger had me raging for 3 days.
@playstation1995 That's a nice list. I prefer East Coast rappers also. My list is similar to yours. Rakim, Nas and Wu Tang... Redman, Tribe Called Quest are up there too.
Why would a person buy a PS5 to play PS4 and older games? I agree with the context of this question. I personally believe there would be little to none backlash if the new console was not BC. As the article notes, the PS store can serve as that service. If someone complains about the need to buy the same game twice, then dust off your old console. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but BC has always been an overrated service IMO.
I strongly prefer single player games but if a multiplayer component would be added separately, without diluting the experience, then the more gameplay the better.
I hardly ever buy a game at full price. For my PS4, for example, I bought Monster Hunter World and Spider-Man at $60. There are too many great games on sale, and the backlog is tremendous. Yet, as Days Gone approaches, I become more eager to traverse the Cascade Mountains in the PNW, taking on the undead and pesky humans alike. Bend is my home and I will gladly support this development team, at the full price of their game.
I actually just tried Wipeout VR yesterday. It was very impressive although I did experience motion sickness. But it was an impressive implementation indeed.
I recently bought the Wipeout Omega collection. It's on sale for $6 and I absolutely love it. It fills the void of a fresh F Zero game. Aside from that, Monster Hunter and Spiderman still get my attention.
This games has it's flaws. The good news is that the Icebourne expansion will likely be the remedy of most of them. World convinced me to buy a PS4. And I am thoroughly impressed by both. 9/10
I was not impressed by this DLC package. It felt disjointed from the main game, simply padding content with lame collectables and challenges. Screwball is annoying. The Cyborg suit is pretty cool though.
