Re: Reaction: Sony's Decision to Skip E3 2019 Is Confounding, But One We Can't Judge Yet

JasonBeckerFan

It would be more damaging to the brand to show up with no really big announcements than to skip it altogether. They could have something up their sleeve as Sony have shown time and time again. But ultimately they are forcing the hand of the other big two, they have to "show me what you got" with the focus being squarely on them.

Sony can sit back and see I guess. It's not like they're the ones under pressure to please their customers.

Re: Review: TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge (PS4)

JasonBeckerFan

Whilst I agree the A.I. can be really infuriating sometimes the game is more than a 5/10. To put it into perspective Ride2 and MotoGP both have horrific A.I. and can't compete with this in graphics and the sheer sense of speed. There is no hand holding either, you need to learn where the lumps and bumps are, where you have adverse camber, where and when you can push a little harder.

Yeah, it's niche. But the TT course isn't for arcade track scrubs and you need to be 100% at all times or you're going head first into someone's barbeque. Just learning sections of the course will take many attempts let alone the whole thing. Each bike will have you thinking differently about lines and braking, speed and lean angles. It's a lot deeper mechanically than any bike racer I've played.

The other courses are a mixed bag ranging between meh and fast fun. But they are just there as a distraction to the main event.

Throw in the upcoming sidecar inclusion and this will be one of the better "sim-like" bike games out there. The aim is to 'git gud, son' and the game will soon put you in a hedge if you aren't. If you don't like the more realistic racers stick with Milestones offerings.

Re: Video: Have a Gander at PS4 Firmware Update 4.00's Features

JasonBeckerFan

Folders! Finally, I can now unclutter my XMB.All that leaves now is external hard drive support and I'm a happy bunny.

Edit: Actually scratch that. I've just had another crash since update 3.55. If I were to count them I'd need to take my socks off and have an abacus handy too. It's been a lot. So fix that first please, the rest can wait.

Edit2: 2 more crashes with CE-34878-0 since last edit. Is anyone else having this problem?

Re: So, Dead or Alive 5: Last Round Is Flaunting a Second Season Pass

JasonBeckerFan

To each their own.

Whilst some people will no doubt welcome this, others won't. Sure, you don't have to buy it, and that's the bottom line. What lurks beneath it all however is a continuing trend within the industry that shows publishers/devs feel it's fine to monetize every last pixel to within an inch of its life. It's sad that we as consumers have actually not only allowed it to be this way, but actually perpetuated the cycle by handing over our money without question.

Business is business, and they will forever work on the notion that a fool and his money are easily parted. Soon you'll have to buy a Season Pass in order to pre-order the Season Pass with which you can buy all the DLC to unlock the actual game.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops III's Beta Blasts Exclusively onto PS4 Next Month

JasonBeckerFan

Not for me. I played up until Blops II, but I've always been a Battlefield player. My mate brought Ghosts round and I hated it. It felt like the game was aiming for me and pulling a lot. I hate shooters that hold your hand, and my first port of call is Options/Aim Assist/Off. I think they make COD games that way to make players feel more skilled than they are. Even my beloved BF is getting that way, as after BFBC2 they slung noob assisting gadgets at every entry in the franchise. If you asked half the BF players around now to dart an Apache spawn killing your team (remember Pablo? I loved tagging and bagging that idiot) they just simply wouldn't be able to hit it.

Sorry for the rant, but nope, not buying another COD Skinner box.

Re: Rumour: Rise of the Tomb Raider to Clamber onto PS4 in Late 2016

JasonBeckerFan

@BAMozzy I'm so terribly sorry. How dare I have my opinion.

I've been gaming for just over 30 years, in which I've seen massive changes to practices and the scene as a whole. I love that it (gaming) has woven it's way into the mainstream, and is up there on a par with Hollywood in terms of entertainment. I've played thousands of games, on all platforms, and have been entertained, shocked, moved, thrilled .......and disappointed. I've also felt cheated. This is where I draw the line, because along with the success, there comes the corrupt.

I'm fortunate enough in life that I can buy anything I want. I won't, however, support things I see as unhealthy, and deals like this are unhealthy. They serve to divide. I detest the notion of 'console wars', and whilst competition is a normal business practice, this sort of deal does nothing but harm and serves to segregate. Two minutes on the internet will reveal a world of gamers who are fast becoming fed up with being taken for a ride. Read the Eurogamer interview with The Taken King lead at Bungie, and the SubReddit that resulted. This is what I'm talking about. Underhanded, shady, manipulative practices that are not the doings of artists who wish to create an experience for those who support them by buying that work, but the doings of suits, shareholders and money men who couldn't care less about what crap you buy, as long as you buy it. I can elaborate, but this is long enough to get my point across.

I won't buy Fallout 4 because it will be a buggy mess (I've played all previous entries), but I may pick it up later on when the issues are ironed out. I won't buy The Division because Ubisoft are just plain terrible in supporting their games, and why should they, they've already got your money by then.

The moral is yes, I can buy what I want, but I won't when I feel I'm filling the bank account of a company whose practices I don't agree with. This is one of those situations.

Re: Rumour: Rise of the Tomb Raider to Clamber onto PS4 in Late 2016

JasonBeckerFan

Yeah......but no. I refuse to support this title now.

With Bungie pulling a double whammy this week and various others selling out and cashing in, I'd rather support the last 'true' few. CDPR get my vote. DICE have kind of turned it around to what they used to be like, and those that still realize that gamers pay their wage on the promise of a good job. Not shady money grubbers who've become a shadow, a spectre left after their parasitic hosts have drained them of all morals, honesty and decency.

Gamers have become sheep. Just ask the executive from Bethesda who couldn't believe the whole Fallout 4/Pip-Boy fiasco. Even he gasped at a whole new level of stupid.

Re: Not All of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's DLC Is Free

JasonBeckerFan

If this was any other developer I would have my doubts, especially after feeling scammed with the Watch Dogs season pass. But CDPR have a fantastic record, and a sterling reputation with Witcher fans. They are giving 16 free pieces of DLC away, and have made clear the average timescale for each expansion. I'd say it's down to the individual to decide if it's for them or not.

Season passes are usually terrible, but the only one I've got after the Watch Dogs fiasco was for DriveClub. That one was totally worth it, and a bit of a bargain considering. Still, I'm not a fan of passes, but for the Witcher I'll no doubt take the plunge.

Re: MotoGP 15 Returns to the Saddle on PS4, PS3 This Spring

JasonBeckerFan

I've played the MotoGP games since PS2, but with the PS3 and PS4 versions I lost interest in a game I used to love. The AI was terrrible, and every race seemed like a destruction derby for the first lap. I commented to the devs that this was something they needed to work on, but as far as I can recall they are terrible with product support/patches. The only downloads made were roster updates and add ons.

I vowed never to buy another after this generations first offering which had last gen graphics (the RIDE demo was also graphically average) and the same lunatic AI.

If you buy it, then enjoy it, but don't expect too much by way of support.

Re: What a Load of Rubbish: BioWare Can't Say When PS4, PS3 will Get the Dragon Age: Inquisiton DLC

JasonBeckerFan

I don't care. I just won't buy it.

A literal gagging order on other platform release dates is lower than low. Timed exclusivity is something that is becoming infuriatingly normal, and whilst it sucks, I can cope. But this stipulation is a joke.

The solution is simple. Sony/Microsoft bought your favourite games DLC on a timed exclusive, but on the platform you don't own? Tell the devs to enjoy the deal they took and don't pay them for it when it hits your platform. This is another practice alongside the pre-order rubbish like Evolve that needs to go away, and only we as paying customers can stop it. Vote with your wallets folks.

Re: Store Update: 24th February 2015 (North America)

JasonBeckerFan

Rugby 15 received a total bashing from Euro reviewers. So they're releasing it in a country that cares little for the sport? I'd love to be a fly on the wall at the shareholders meeting....."We got panned in Europe so we sent it to the spiritual home if the Madden franchise.....who said the words professional and financial suicide? Speak up dammit!"

Shame. A decent rugby game would be a definite purchase for me, but this isn't even decent.

Re: Next PS4 Firmware Update Is Not Too Far Out, Says Sony

JasonBeckerFan

External HD support. BF4 takes up 65.5 gees on my hard drive alone, and coupled with Warframe updates just those two games use up a good quarter of available space (factoring in the space left after the OS has its say). Today's games are hungry, and the original drive is inadequate.

Re: DriveClub's February Update Is Free to Download on PS4 Now

JasonBeckerFan

The ugly duckling turned into a swan. The A.I. Is still a bit annoying but overall Evolution turned out a hell of a racer. For those complaining about PS+ version, the base game is dirt cheap now and worth every penny. Buy it rather than wait for the glorified demo. Plus you get a host of free content as well as the full game.

Re: What the Heck's Going on with PlayStation Store Pre-Orders in Europe?

JasonBeckerFan

@get2sammyb Your educated guess is as good as mine, Sammy.

This was a much touted (and in many ways highlighted) feature in the new generation console marketing push. Yet somehow it remains to be seen on the scale it was promised. I can't speculate as to why Sony haven't made greater use of this feature, or why publishers haven't pushed to have their titles make use of it to help sales or even to calculate revenue data. Surely it's as beneficial to them as it is the customer, right? I just don't know. Sony, as usual, are tight lipped about it too.

Re: What the Heck's Going on with PlayStation Store Pre-Orders in Europe?

JasonBeckerFan

The fact that people are still interested in pre-order bonuses in the first place completely baffles me.

It used to be that pre-orders were made by a customer to make sure they could ensure a copy of a major title at their local store on release day. But greedy publishers have totally hijacked that in order to monetize a previously wholesome consumer action/choice.

Digital 'copies' of games are the biggest offense to this former choice. The PS Store is rife with it. I still prefer physical. I like opening a new game and maybe having a little trinket I've found worth paying extra for. I like having my purchase protected by consumer rights. I like that once I'm finished I can sell it to someone who may not have the good fortune to afford the game at retail, they get the game, I get a few quid towards my next.

I think my point is that for me the Store sucks for many reasons. Unless it's circumstantial to have to use it, or you know what you're paying for in the first place, I would actively avoid digital on the whole.

Re: PSN Down for Some Another Day as High Volume Prompts Connection Problems

JasonBeckerFan

@PoisonDwarf I'm in Belfast and things have been 'periodic'. Yesterday was fine, but I had a drop tonight when logging into Warframe.

It'll be resolved, but it is a bit frustrating for the end users when we're kept in the dark for long periods. Oh, and adjusting MTU values is a bit more than a one shot fix. Check out some articles on how it works as results can be different for everyone and adjusting values is a science in itself.

Hope it works out for you anyway.

Re: Sony Engineers Investigating as PS4 Goes Offline Again

JasonBeckerFan

The lack of communication irks me most. Sony really need to talk to their customers more. I'm glad to see that 99% of Push Square users are reasonable people though, as some of the things I've seen written everywhere else is full of highly volatile comments from morons with an over inflated sense of entitlement.

We got over £1, 600 of games on PS+ this year, and an otherwise reasonably stable network to game on. Seriously, for £40 I for one have few complaints other than the communication issue.

Oh, Kim Dotcom is an idiot. He has now shown this society of morons that their stupidity can now be used to garner reward. Why didn't he just offer the same thing or a similar reward for people in the loop to out them? You only need to squeeze one hard enough and before you know it they all start squealing on each other. Cowards that they are.

Re: Good News, PS4 Exclusive DriveClub Almost Works Now

JasonBeckerFan

If anyone wants to join a top 700 club with one active member, and one who doesn't bother so much, add me on PSN....gilbertoconcerto. I'm in the top 200 drivers, when it works. Active players welcome to help stay up there.
Part of me wants Evolution to make this work, but another part doesn't and it's sad. It's fun when it does work. It is, but the frustration has outweighed the fun.

With Project Cars delayed its all we got for now on the driving side of things.

Re: You'll Be Getting Tons of Free DLC with PS4 Exclusive DriveClub

JasonBeckerFan

@AD-80 Destiny looks like one of the prettiest shooters ever, but that doesn't cover the bigger issues. Will I care about beautifully rendered trees when hurtling into a corner at 120mph, only to find they sacrificed physics and handling to make it look better? Definitely not.

We've learned a lot recently about style over substance in the gaming market. A driving game needs to be a driving game. I personally think Project Cars will appeal to me more for this reason. As I said, I've preordered both and I have no reservations about giving DriveClub some attention, I just feel it will not be as competent a racer.

Re: You'll Be Getting Tons of Free DLC with PS4 Exclusive DriveClub

JasonBeckerFan

Good luck with the free demo.....http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=4&ved=0CCkQFjAD&url=http%3A%2F%2Fblog.eu.playstation.com%2F2014%2F05%2F07%2Fwhats-included-driveclub-playstation-plus-edition%2F&rct=j&q=driveclub%20free%20vs%20paid&ei=r6kRVM6VMa_y7AaE2oEY&usg=AFQjCNH4bPjsrUjnW7oPVxzWVEXxBw8nuQ&sig2=J_BxoEzEPPOzt5tNOdnRdw&bvm=bv.74894050,d.ZGU

My point is that some devs appreciate their fan base, and some are content to charge for a disc locked car or track. Of which there will be many. Joining friends who bought the full game plus extras will require you to open your wallet, a lot....Remember when DICE said they'd never charge for maps so everyone could play on them?

Hello, Premium!

I've preordered both, but I'm willing to bet that Project Cars will be the game that makes me forget about a 30fps pretender.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 36

JasonBeckerFan

PlantsVZombies:Garden Warfare on PS4, because I really, really, REALLY love rubber banding and constant disconnects. Also going to finish season 2 of The Walking Dead on PS3. You can only have so many zombies in a weekend so I'll also be banging in the last trophy for platinum in the very underrated Remember Me. Oh, and BF4 too.
