Still love to hate Metal Gear Survive? IGN has just released a new video containing five more minutes of footage for your perusal, and honestly, it's still looking pretty decent. Sure, the subject matter feels like fitting a square peg into a round hole, but let's not forget the foundation of this game is based on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, a title widely lauded for its tight gameplay.
The video shows off plenty of crafting, sneaking, base building, and zombie-killing action, and from where we're sitting, it could look far worse than it does. It'll be interesting to hear people's thoughts once they've had a chance to play the beta, which runs from 18th to 21st January. We'd wager a lot of players will catch themselves inadvertently having fun with this.
But what do you think? Does this new gameplay pique your interest, or are you still aboard the hate train? Craft your thoughts in the comments below.

" Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, a title widely lauded for its tight gameplay."
This baffles me ... I played the first chapter or something (escape from the hospital I think) and it was horrible (got it 'free' with PS+). All gameplay, visuals, direction and logic was just south of every other title recently played (in 2016/17). Can't imagine playing throught it to be honest.
my issue isn't that this is a Metal Gear game but that's it's another Zombie game, the kind of game a publisher pushes into a series that doesn't need it because they have ran out of ideas
it might just be best to let Metal Gear die
@gamer_since_83 To be fair, the opening hospital act is meant to be more cinematic than anything. It's not really reflective of the open world gameplay that follows, which is honestly really, really good.
@gamer_since_83 Admittedly TPP does take a while to warm up gameplay wise, but once you get to the open world missions it’s great. The depth of how you can approach each mission is quite good (stealth vs guns blazing vs set traps vs call in a helicopter strike vs use your buddies, etc). But I agree with the comment that I fear Metal Gear minus Kojima is going to be subpar.
For all the hate and moaning it looks like a decent game and for £20 it looks worth a go.
When the beta comes out, anybody know if it'll be a open beta?
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi You could wait for GTFO, a four player FPS zombie game from the folks that made Payday. Not a fan of the devs practices but it does look decent.
If they can't make another mgs without Kojima, why not just remake the entire series in the fantastic fox engine. Most fans would enjoy it and konami wouldn't have to run into the "danger" of making something original.

I agree with you. I tried the opening mission a couple of times and it took so long and was so boring that I gave up. I really should give it another go as I have heard good things about the open world. Just have to finish Horizon and it's expansion first!!
I find it hard to hate this game anymore. Yeah, Konami is a s***ty company who treats a lot of their employees poorly (shame most didn't care before MGSV) but I've gotten bored of the whole cult of personality surrounding Kojima, he's a good developer but not Asian Jesus for crying out loud.
I'm not saying if Survive will be good or not yet but it's negative reception is way overblown.
@gamer_since_83 In all fairness it sounds like you only played the first 40-50 minutes of a 30-50 hour game, before you even got to the first real mission. I'd say give it another shot and if you aren't liking it by Mission 6 then drop it.
@Orpheus79V
Is there a huge change or something at mission 6??
I think I'm at mission 5 and I find even turning the game on to be a chore. I thought I would be really into this game but I for some reason find it boring. I loved mgs 1-3...
I re-added this to my wishlist, but will most likely wait for it to hit $15-$20 New during BF 2018/2019 sales.
@NYJetsfan123 not really, I just meant that the hospital prologue is basically a different game and you need to play a few main missions to get an idea of whether or not you'll like it. I get what you mean though, the game can be repetitive and gets worse when you unlock Quiet, DD and some tranq weapons - the game becomes a lot easier and missions feel the same everytime. Let Quiet or DD mark all the enemies, rush through tranqing some to fulton so you you grind for resources, rinse repeat. It's a shame since Ground Zeroes showed plenty of potential.
@Orpheus79V OK. Maybe I will give it another go
Three betas happening around the same time - this, MHW and Dragon Ball FighterZ.
@FullbringIchigo They tried to let it die.....
But they didn't destroy the brain........
@Gremio108 no they just sacked him instead ^_^
actually that makes sense, a Zombie is an undead creature that has lost all that it was and become an empty shell
just like Metal gear is now
That slipping up trap is hilarious lol
Anyway I will get this on a DEEEEEEEEEP sale only
