Re: Horizon Forbidden West Is the UK's Fourth Best-Selling Physical Game of 2022

@JustPlainLoco I don't care if it was bundled, but it should matter if you are counting sales and comparing it to other games.

I haven't even played Elden Ring, but I did buy Horizon (separately) and finished the game, so I have no bias regarding this topic. I imagine that if Elden Ring was bundled with the PS5 it would have crushed other games more. So if we are to rank sales figures, it most definitely matters if a game was bundled or not.

Pushsquare even reported a few months ago that half of Horizon sales were coming from the bundles. Since this is a ranking of physical copies sales it most definitely matters if it's bundled.

BTW it's not like the PS5 was still 500 when they bundled Horizon. It cost 550. So you got a small, little discount. It's not like they were giving it away for free.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West DLC Takes Aloy to the Burning Shores Only on PS5

How many children are whining in here about not getting a DLC for the PS4? Life must be good if you're crying about a game extension.

This is the way it worked with every new console generation. Frankly HFW had no business being released for the PS4 at all. That in itself was a gift to the PS4 people.

Buy a PS5, they're available easily now.

@Sqush-Pare I never interpreted anyone's disapproval of the casting choice for Ellie as not "eye candy."

I like the actress and she was great in GOT. But I just don't get Ellie vibes from her. I don't get Joel vibes from Oberyn/Mandalorian either. I know the latter is a less popular opinion.

Re: Brand New The Last of Us HBO Trailer Revealed

@Eldritch Are you not going to watch it because you don't want it to spoil your experience with the game?

For me to this day I never watched any of the Narnia movies because I didn't want them to ruin my imagination and the visuals my mind created while reading the books.

Re: Brand New The Last of Us HBO Trailer Revealed

It looks really good but I have a different perspective. I personally feel like we are past peak of "The Last Of Us" at this point; I feel like I've been saturated with too much of the same thing.

I think the remake of the game should have been released toward the end of the show's season.

Re: Hogwarts Legacy Looks Like Another Magical PS5, PS4 Open World

GreatAuk

@somnambulance PS5 sales are running almost parallel to PS4 sales over the first two years of the console's life and that's despite the severe constraints that were places on supply for most of those two years of the PS5.

But now you have Sony releasing their games on PC so it's not exactly shocking that the PS5 is not being exclusively designed for by developers. It's still sad and annoying though.

Games are still being designed for a console that comes with a 5400 RPM platter drive. Think about how absurd that is.

Re: Sony: PS5 Price Increase Hasn't Affected High Demand

GreatAuk

And once again let us remind everyone that US taxes are NOT included in the cost, where in every other country's price, it is.

So the cost is actually between 540 and 550 depending on state. I'm pretty sure we (US) still pay more than any other location just based on currency value and general cost despite not getting a cost increase.

Maybe some countries should reduce the 20% VAT they have built into the price of the PS5?

If anything, SONY is giving most places outside the US a discount!

Re: Sony: PS5 Price Increase Hasn't Affected High Demand

Of course it's still selling well, it's a luxury item.

No one that could dump 500 on a gaming console is otherwise food insecure or can't pay their utility bills.

An extra 50 was never going to stop their consumer base from still purchasing it.

Of course if you raised it enough you might lose customers based on value vs cost.

Re: Poll: Do You Care About 60fps on PS5?

GreatAuk

@StylesT it's fine that you can't tell the difference. I don't think you're lying.

There are people who have told me they can't see the difference between DVD quality 480p and 1080p. My wife says she can't hear the difference between compressed to hell audio and CD quality sound.

But if you can't tell the difference in visuals and gameplay between 30 and 60fps it doesn't mean it's not there and not obvious to most other people. You most definitely have some type of sensory issue.

I'm not saying that with malice. It has to be some type of sensory/processing issue that doesn't allow you to see and notice what the vast majority of people do notice and feel when they play between the two different modes.

Re: Poll: Do You Care About 60fps on PS5?

GreatAuk

I went from playing RE8 at 60 fps to Forbidden West at 30 fps and I said I can't go back again. I stuck with performance mode until the balanced option was released, those few extra frames made a world of difference.

Re: Poll: Do You Care About 60fps on PS5?

GreatAuk

@AstraeaV you can see AND feel the difference between 30 and 60fps.

I'm saying this with sincerity, if someone can't tell the difference in any way between 30 and 60 fps they have a sensory issue. The difference is immediately noticeable.

Would someone claim they can't see the difference between cinema's 24 fps and the soap opera effect? And that's only seeing, with games you can also feel the difference in gameplay.
