We’re not confident enough to say Project: The Perceiver will be a must have just yet, but it certainly looks promising. After an impressive debut earlier in the year, Chinese developer Papergames and its subsidiary 17ZHE Studio have showcased a whopping 45 minutes of footage from a prototype build of the upcoming PS5 and PS4 character action game.

Considering its length, this isn’t the most engaging gameplay video you’re likely to see – in fact, it largely centres on a series of combat gauntlets in largely samey environments. However, there’s clear promise here: the game looks like a mix of Ghost of Tsushima and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and that’s great inspiration from our perspective.

Clearly this is still somewhat early, and we’re unlikely to get our mitts on it for quite some time. After the jaw-dropping reveal trailer, though, it’s reassuring to see some substance here – it’ll be interesting to see whether Sony picks up this project, as it’s done with a number of the higher-profile Chinese games announced over the past few years.
