Re: Splash Water on Your Favourite Waifus in the New Dead or Alive Game for PS5, PS4

Oh please.

"This is why I am reluctant to tell people to watch movies." Since there are tons of pornographic videos.

"This is why I am reluctant to tell people to listen to music." Since there are tons of songs with truly awful and disgusting lyrics.

Your take makes no sense.

If it wasn't for Pushsquare I wouldn't even know this game existed. it is not even CLOSE to being representative of the gaming selection out there.

Re: Naughty Dog Turns Off Intergalactic PS5 Trailer's Comments As Discourse Turns Nasty

@DennisReynolds

There will ALWAYS be someone out there that is not satisfied with something.

What matters is in the aggregate and putting things in perspective.

Online media loves to amplify the far and few between weirdos that send death threats or make inflammatory remarks because it's good for clicks which means it's good for business.

People who you probably dislike very much (like certain politicians) also get death threats. That's doesn't mean they are the majority or that you condone them just because you are on the same side policy wise.

Same goes for gaming. This article didn't even need to exist; it was based on a false premise. The comments were never on to begin with.

A lot of people have a simplistic view on things, things are always more complex than people want them to be.

There is a vast ocean of characters between Stellar Blade characters and the character from this trailer. Most of us are somewhere in the middle.

The people who designed the characters in Stellar Blade had just as much of an agenda as the designers of the character from the Naughty Dog trailer.

Re: Naughty Dog's New PS5 Game Is Finally Announced, Sci-Fi Action Title Intergalactic

As for the trailer and what I think, I think the game character design is ugly and has an attitude problem. I see zero appeal for me.

That's my personal opinion that I think we're all entitled to.

The aesthetic doesn't look that good either to me, and I liked both parts of The Last Of Us, so this isn't just a random Naughty Dog dunk.

It looks a bit too stylized? I'm not sure if that's the correct term. I liked No Man's Sky but that game had the same type of stylized look that I see in this trailer and I wasn't a big fan of it in that game either.

An easy reference for what I'm referring to is looking at the ship. It just looks too shiny and smooth.

Both my grandfathers literally fought against ACTUAL Nazis in WW2 but if you read up a few posts some people are calling others Nazis just for not perfectly fitting in to their carefully tailored beliefs.

Hyperbole is such a tired, overused tactic.

Go to Bluesky if you like it more, that's fine. And a smart company joins every platform so I'm not shocked that Sony made an account.

Re: PlayStation Joins Social Media Shift as Bluesky Rockets in Popularity

@get2sammyb

Bluesky at the end of the day is another platform trying to make money.

These platforms don't just sprout up out of the goodness of the creators' hearts, they think there is a market/opportunity to exploit.

I am confused as to why certain people assign benevolence to what is in essence a business because they don't like the competition's owner's politics.

@Major_Player

I don't follow that stuff. I'm actually a conservative (how dare I haha) but I don't engage or participate in any of the online nonsense back and forth. I don't even post on Twitter or any social media, I just read.

(Btw I don't consider posting here social media.)

I actually listen to a lot of and like Cenk Uygur, I know contradictory, but people don't fit neatly in the boxes society likes to create.

Regarding bots, when a platform reaches critical mass, bots are inevitable. If Blue Sky ever gets big they'll be flooded with annoying crap too.

Re: PlayStation Has Swiftly Solved Its Profitability Problem

PS5 Pro is most definitely a luxury item, my god people.

If a millionaire buys a Porsche, does that not still make it objectively a luxury item for them? The income of the person doesn't matter with regards to the categorization of the product.

While the PS5 Pro is a good deal for what you get, it's still a luxury item.

The same way getting a yacht for 500k instead of the regular million is a good deal yes, but still a luxury item.

Re: PlayStation Has Swiftly Solved Its Profitability Problem

GreatAuk

If the PS5 Pro is being sold at a very large profit, I can imagine how large those profit margins must be on individual PC components, because there's no chance in hell you'd be able to build a system like a PS5 Pro (don't forget controller) for anywhere near that

Re: PS5 Pro was a '5-Year Project', In Development Before PS5's Launch

GreatAuk

@tameshiyaku

It looks the PS5 disk version sold at a loss a bit longer than the PS4 according to the article, so there's no difference there at least from the previous generation.

Probably the disk version made it to profitability faster than the digital version because the disk drive is like 20 bucks and they sell it for 100 dollars more.

And that's at 499, I bet the current 449 is now cutting it real close. Digital at 349 is a steal man, come on. Just the very high quality controller included in the system third party would be 100+ dollars.

You're looking at a PS5 digital system that costs 249 (sans controller.) For those graphics? Incredible deal.

I'll agree with you that not having disk available opens up doors in the future of the likes you mentioned, like games vanishing.

At least we can still buy the attachment.

Re: PS5 Pro was a '5-Year Project', In Development Before PS5's Launch

GreatAuk

@tameshiyaku

You can get a PS5 digital for $349. That is a remarkablly good value.

There's no way that's not being sold at a loss.

And the PS4 Pro still had a platter drive. Eww. How is the jump from the PS4 Pro to the PS5 not a big one?

I think we're just hitting diminishing returns in terms of graphical upgrades.

The days of the jumps in graphics from the Genesis to the PS1 are over.

Now we're just upping resolution, frame rate, lighting, etc. These changes don't look as dramatic when comparing generation to generation.

Maybe that's having a psychological effect.

I think the PS5 was a good deal.
