Trying to finish the excellent Cult of the Lamb now my month of PS Plus runs out. Was hoping to score a platinum trophy, but beating all bosses without getting hit seems a bit too much 😬
@AK4tywill Same. I even had two consoles, both with insurmountable backlogs and it made me so stressed. I sold both my PS5 and Series X, bought a Pro and enjoying it so much more now. Games I bought that seem like a drag (complete Mass Effect and Stalker trilogies) I deleted and may or may not play them in the future. Instead I’m just enjoying some recent AAA games now.
And even now I know this works best for me, I’m still constantly tempted to buy all sorts of games. That’s just life of a HSP-HSS I guess 😅
@LunarFlame17 Good to hear! I think most people don’t realize you actually need to see it on your 4k tv. And not via a video on your phone. Before I got my 65 inch neo qled I never even saw the difference between 30 and 60 fps. Now it’s a whole new experience.
@kevinm360 I know, but that’s not relevant for my case. They were first introduced when I was already playing on PS5, so they’re this generation for me.
@LifeGirl It holds the most games that made a lasting impression on me. Death Stranding, Returnal and Elden Ring are all in my top 5. And lots of really great games just behind, such as Gran Turismo 7. But also PS VR2 opening up a whole new world of gaming for me. I never gamed as intensively as the last four years.
Edit: This was just on the games side. But overall I also really enjoy this generation because of the hardware. Almost non-existent loading times, the amazing dualsense with haptic feedback, 3D audio and great styling of the console itself.
Lots of people are missing out, although I can imagine the price makes it less appealing. I was baffled by how good it looks and feels. I was expecting a small upgrade and feel like I’m in a whole new generation. Trading in my base PS5 and Series X was the best decision I made in a while.
Already finished TLOU Chapter 1 on my new Pro. Never could get into it before but this time it blew me away; fantastic game! Started GOW Ragnarok now, hope to finish it before my Extra runs out in 3 weeks.
The PS5 Pro rules! Never expected such a drastic increase in engagement from my part, since I’m normally blind to stuff like fps. In combination with my relatively new Neo Qled 65 inch it makes all the difference though.
Now I just have to find a disc drive for a normal price…
@PuppetMaster Is this confirmed or your prediction? I’m currently playing/finishing TLOU 1 and it could be a while before I play the second game. Can I watch season 1 without being spoiled but not season 2?
I wished I could contribute something positive, but I just subscribed to Extra because I haven’t found a disc drive for my PS5 Pro yet, but I’m quite shocked by the AAA catalogue compared to its first years. I hope to finish TLOU and GOW Ragnarok before the end of the month so I can stop my subscription again.
@dBackLash I thought it was very rewarding. There was so much to discover regarding the benefits of specific weapon upgrades, artifacts, story elements and ways to beat specific opponents. It kept me hooked constantly.
@Throb To be honest it’s just a matter of understanding the mechanics and being patient. I definitely wouldn’t describe myself as a talented gamer (far from it), but I platinumed this game by following the right tactics.
Sorry, but this list is just all over the place. Call of the Mountain in the top 10? Even Horizon fans agree it’s nothing but a tech demo. And Astro Bot on top of a sci-fi list?
@Rich33 Thanks a lot! I actually have some of those games on disc, but the disc drive currently isn’t available for retail price, so I have to wait a bit longer. I’ll dive into PS Plus Extra until then.
I took some drastic measures yesterday when I found myself being annoyed with my never ending backlog: I sold both my Series X (despite having 1,5 years of GP left) and PS5 and used the money to buy a PS5 Pro so I can focus on only a handful of quality games at a time.
I was tossing and turning about it for months, because a lot of people say it’s a minor upgrade. All I can say while playing TLOU Part 1 on my (also quite new) Neo Qled 65” is: WOW. This is what next gen looks like. I actually never could get into this game on PS4, but it’s so breathtaking and immersive now that it has me gripped.
Since I don’t have a disc drive yet I subscribed to PS Plus Extra for now. GOW Ragnarok is next on my list, since it also has a Pro patch. Any other recommendations to witness the power of this beast?
Just sold my Series X. My backlogs for both consoles were getting ridiculous and with this new Xbox strategy of not having exclusives anymore there’s no reason to own a separate console next to my PS5.
I certainly won’t miss those clicking controller buttons. PS5 controllers seem to be 10 years ahead in time.
@carlos82 Good to know, FF7 Rebirth is on my wishlist, just as Stellar Blade, Elden Ring (dlc), Cyberpunk incl dlc, Callisto Protocol and a bunch of VR2 games such as RE 4&8 and Gran Turismo 7.
If those games have a big gain on Pro I might dive into it.
@Oram77 Is it night and day if you’d see the images (PS5 and Pro) side to side? Or is the overall experience in itself a big difference. As in: does it truly feel like you have a new console if you come from base PS5?
I can play it “for free” on GP but can’t get bothered. I love more realistic games such as GT7 and WRC, but this feels like the handling of cars in GTA5 and quickly gets boring.
@somnambulance That’s definitely not a statement you can make this easily. FH5 and GT7 are completely different games. For me, I already spend more than 100 hours with GT7 since I love sim racers, while I was bored with FH7 after one day. You’re not only comparing completely different games, but different genres (sim vs arcade racers) altogether.
Really love this game, it’s so engaging to step in your spaceship and visit this endless list of planets. Feels a bit sour though if it comes to PS5, since it’s the one reason I bought a Series X next to my PS5.
@twitchtvpat I’m not sure we’re talking about the same thing here. My point is that the additions don’t have the quality of the games that are leaving, so that the platform slowly loses its value.
This reminds me that I bought the ME Legendary Edition trilogy during the BF sale. I really hope these games still have the impact everyone says they have, since I never played them before and they might feel old and clunky now.
PS Plus has become such a joke. The good games are slowly but surely leaving the service and the additions are just not worth the money. Glad I unsubscribed last year.
I don’t get the criticism. I bought it two months ago and it’s such a fantastic piece of hardware. Really made me rediscover gaming. Also, there’s loads of fun games to play on it, including games you can keep on playing long after you beat them (Puzzling Places, Pistol Whip, etc.).
@gollumb82 I have to say I didn’t play the original. Maybe that’s also the problem: for me it’s just a game with old fashioned level design without feeling any nostalgia.

Re: Poll: What Was Your PS5 Game of the Month for February 2025?
Game of last month…? I’m slowly but steadily arriving at the point where my backlog is small enough to start considering to buy some 2024 games.
Re: Free PS Plus Compensation for Recent PSN Downtime Is Being Issued Now
I don’t see the extra days yet. But otherwise my sub was running out this Friday anyway, so I won’t start with a new game anymore.

Re: God of War Remasters Could Be Coming to PS5 as Series Celebrates 20th Anniversary
These games never were for me. I can see there’s quality in them, but I quickly get bored with the one-sided combat and all the alpha male grunting.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 569
Tried God of War Ragnarok for a few days. Great graphics, but boring game. Started Cult of the Lamb now, very addictive and fun so far!
In between I’ll try to finish Call of the Mountain. Good tech demo, but the game drags on for too long without offering anything substantial.
Re: Sony's Pricey PS5 Pro Is Now Being Outpaced by PS4 Pro Launch Aligned in the US
@LifeGirl That makes no sense. You could also call them PS5 games that can be played on a PS4

NieR should definitely be on top. It’s emotional on so many levels. I don’t think any other game has hit me this hard.
Also just started Mass Effect LE for the first time. I hope it still has impact in 2025, even though I hold no nostalgic feelings.
