Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's Single Player Campaign Is Being Torn Apart

BrotherFilmriss

CoD campaigns are a guilty pleasure of mine and except for Advanced Warfare I honestly liked 'em all. This time around I won't buy the game, got myself gamepass for a month to test out the campaign and it's an utter disgrace tbh. This whole thing plays like a limited Far Cry or some lootershooter live service crap. Enemies have health bars and way too high ttk, every level ends with an "endboss". Enemies don't lose their weapons (so I can test 'em out on them), there are no checkpoints, no pause option and every now and then some live servicy blingbling like level ups and sh*t appears. The art style is horrendous and the game looks like the earlier iterations pre MW reboot. Gone is every notion of the gritty more realistic style of the latest games which I really liked.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Ninja Gaiden 4?

BrotherFilmriss

I'm in chapter 4 and the encounters feel like a chore already. Also the gameplay doesn't feel like Ninja Gaiden. I dunno what it is exactly, something with the camera I guess? Standard Ninja enemies are boring in design imho and the levels stretched out too long. Also the story seems to be very very stupid (thats no news for the series, but the decisions of the main character in the beginning are strange to say the least?). I want to like it, but I'm not feeling it atm. 6/10.

Re: Remedy Knuckling Down on Control 2, Max Payne Remakes

BrotherFilmriss

They should seriously fire some of their management and/or advisors when they really expected another extraction shooter (from a niche franchise) to perform well. I wanted to love this game, but it was too buggy in the beginning stage and after losing hours in progress through regular disconnects in matches I gave up on it.

Re: Death Stranding 2 Is Causing Some PS5s to Overheat

BrotherFilmriss

1st things 1st, place your PS5 horizontal. There seems to be a widely acknowledged construction error (not by Sony mind you...) with the liquid cooling metal stuff, which causes overheating.
I had constant shutdown issues with Rise of Ronin. When I figured out that it was overheating, I cleaned out the console (where I could reach without taking the thing totally apart), placed it horizontally and got some extra fans on the backside. I always had the console in an open place. After that crashes and shut downs were reduced significantly.

Re: After Messy First Beta, Gears of War: Reloaded's Second Beta Weekend Extended on PS5

BrotherFilmriss

As owner of the previous remaster I got a free code for Xbox and it seems this counts as preorder, so a I'm eligable for beta access.
I'm a little bit disappointed that it basically looks exactly the same than GoW:Ultimate, so I think I'll skip it initially and maybe get it on sale for the trophies later. Still weird times that one is able to play an Xbox flagship on PS5 though.

Re: FBC: Firebreak (PS5) - PS Plus Shooter Proves Remedy Should Have Stayed in Its Lane

BrotherFilmriss

I think this is a no frills coop multiplayer game. Nothing special, but still entertaining. Like it so far except for the expectable server issues (and some other bugs) at launch.
It lends basically the "service" systems of Helldivers 2 in providing extra cosmetics passes, judging from the deluxe edition content. Fine by me
40 bucks is too much though. Wouldn't have got it, if it wasn't for PS Extra.

Re: PS5, PC Live Service Fairgames Is a 'Super Clunky' Cross Between Fortnite and The Division

BrotherFilmriss

To this day I can not understand, how they could've messed up Factions. I mean they just could've remastered the original factions maps into the new engine (I'm pretty sure Bungie would've been superhelpful as they're really experienced in recycling content πŸ™„) and added tlou2's gameplay and weapons and e voila... and I'm pretty sure that creating two or three additional maps in the style of the "old" faction maps wouldn't be that hard.
Regarding Fairgames. Not.Interested. At. All.
Stop it. Let it die and burn it with fire.
If they want to do life service, maybe do it right? Mix it up with your single player games the right way, like in Doom: Eternal or GT?

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 573

BrotherFilmriss

I just platinumed Dragon Age: The Veilguard some days ago. It was slightly better then expected, but still a huge letdown from previous entries and the writing was just hilarious. But since then I yearn to experience more of the DA universe again, so I started a new playthrough on DA:Origins again via gamepass. It's also fps boosted which is pretty cool.
Also will try out Madjack Mullet and return to my inferno playthrough on Lords of the Fallen.

Not that straight forward that I hoped for... I think there are some interesting challenges there (i.e. not getting hit by Kain in the first boss fight or touch no water while climbing the cathedral).
Soul Reaver 2 is just a DLC list for Soul Reaver 1 which is quite a bummer.

Re: PS Store 30th Anniversary Sale Offers 2,000+ PS5, PS4 Game Deals

BrotherFilmriss

Got myself some Indies: Butcher Special Edition, Squad 51 vs Flying Saucers, 9 Monkeys of Shaolin, Postal: Brain Damaged and Exo One (pld this on gamepass already and absolutely loved it).
Gonna say it again and again (and again 😜), when you're into psychological horror and a little bit walking simulator/re 7 style gameplay (yes, it has shooting), do yourself a favor and get 'In Sound Mind'. The 4 bucks are very well worth it.
Also some great offerings for retroshooter fans: 'Exhumed' and 'Rise of the Triad' available. Both are great remasters.
If you like old school arcady beat em up (sort of Street of Rage, but from top down view) you want to look into 'Redeemer', thats pretty cool too.

Re: Don't Believe Your Eyes in The Thing: Remastered PS5, PS4 Gameplay

BrotherFilmriss

Well it was a PS2 game ;] I remember playing it back in the day on PC and it was somewhat frustrating, never completed it though. I think there would be better alternatives from this era to be remastered, which still hold up or are fun today like Psi Ops, Area 51 or The Suffering. I dunno getting The Thing strongly depends on its asking price, max 20 €...

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Silent Hill 2?

BrotherFilmriss

I snagged it pretty cheap on amazon.fr, downside is that delivery will take a week longer then usual. Was sceptical at first from the first preview videos, but after the latest gameplay reveals was pretty convinced that it'll be good. Also have no high stakes in it. I played it in the past on PS2 and PC but it wasn't my cup of tea then (unlike part1). So I'm really looking forward playing it with a fresh twenty year later perspective

Re: Black Myth: Wukong Is Blowing Up Big Time on PS5, PC

BrotherFilmriss

Since my budget is a little thin for games this month, I decided to go for Bleak Faith instead, which is a very cool game this far (gameplay a little rough, but oh my god the atmosphere, music and world is awesome). What would you compare Wukong too? Stellar Blade with Ape? Or more like Enslaved?
