Re: Sci-Fi Survival Game Forever Skies Is a PS5 Console Exclusive

Breekhead

@MFTWrecks I think where you’re going wrong is thinking NMS is a survival game. Unfortunately I had the same problem with NMS, there was no surviving or risk involved.. you could literally just stand around and nothing would happen to you.

If you want to know if you enjoy survival games you have to play something like The Forest, The Long Dark, Subnautica, Stranded Deep, Green Hell etc. The appeal of these is you have to take risks to survive, food and water need to be gathered or else you die, and generally you’re trying to reach a goal (eg. escape the island or whatever).

Re: Reaction: Has Sony Put Together the Worst PS Plus Month Ever?

Breekhead

What are you going on about? Generation Zero is a really good game, but now because of your bad scoring everyone who hasn’t played it has the opinion that it’s not worth playing…

…to anyone reading this, grab a friend or two and give Generation Zero a shot. It’s a beautiful game with fun gameplay and bucket loads of atmosphere.

Re: Kickstarter Demands Proof of Humanity, Requires New Projects to Disclose AI Use

Breekhead

@KaijuKaiser I agree that AI has the potential to help in so many areas. I don’t know how it should be regulated or if that’s even possible though. There are many inherent negative implications and although automating mundane jobs sounds great, a lot of people rely on those jobs. I think the other big issue is AI is now being used heavily in the creative sphere. When you say it would hopefully allow people to give up their mundane job and instead focus on their passion… if your passion is creative, AI has that covered too.

It is definitely a tool and like any tool it’s how you use it. I think strict transparency about how and when it’s used is important. As humans we connect through how we express ourselves and our human experience, having a computer create an algorithmic interpretation of that feels empty in my opinion. Would you read a new “Stephen King” novel if it was generated from a prompt and then watch an AI generated movie based on that in the style of a Spielberg film… or would you care more if it was created by those actual humans.

What if you found out all the comments that you’re responding to online are just bots..

Re: Diablo 4 PS5, PS4 Early Launch Faces Invalid License Issues

Breekhead

@FatalBubbles Might have found a workaround on Reddit. Looks like you have to sign in as console 1 user, join as console 2 (couch co op), promote console 2 to party leader, console 1 signs out and leaves, now console 1 can sign in as normal and join up.

Hopefully this works, I’ll try it later.

Re: Insider Says Silent Hill 2 Remake, Townfall, and Ascension Trailers Incoming

Breekhead

@nessisonett I get what you’re saying, but remember that creating a remake with updated visuals and controls opens the game up to a whole new generation of gamers that wouldn’t have otherwise experienced it. Think of the RE2 remake (or many of the RE remakes). I don’t know if you’ve gone back to tank controls recently but it’s quite horrible after not playing them for years. I for one am excited for the new Silent Hill 2 remake, let’s hope they deliver a great experience for old and new gamers alike.

Re: Promising PS5 Shooter ARC Raiders Just Changed Its Entire Genre

Breekhead

I think something people seem to forget is that this is a free to play title so the looting extraction aspect makes complete sense in terms of long term engagement and monetisation.

Most commenters here so far seem to prefer single player or coop experiences, so hopefully there’s a non PvP mode as well so as many people can enjoy as possible.

Re: Promising PS5 Shooter ARC Raiders Just Changed Its Entire Genre

Breekhead

@SmiggleMcJiggle That’s disappointing. DMZ ticks a lot of boxes and the gunplay and gameplay loop are addictive, but I didn’t like how the guns handled in Battlefield 2042 so if it doesn’t bring something else to the table I might just give it a skip.

Obviously Tarkov isn’t out on console (yet) but I’m waiting for a more tactical extraction looter shooter. If Insurgency made a PvPvE extraction mode that would be amazing.

Re: Call of Duty Warzone 2 Players are Calling Season 3 DMZ Bundle 'Pay-to-Win'

Breekhead

It is “pay to win” in a way but not as big a deal as people make it out to be.. as usual tend to ramp one another up to an extreme level.

I play DMZ every day and I bought the new bundle so I could run a 4th operator to add more variety. Although starting with a medium backpack (or future perks like 2 plate or UAV) is nice, it doesn’t impact the chances of your survival by that much. You can generally find better loot quite quickly.

The UAV addition isn’t a huge deal either since Ashika Island has so many of them and most people know the spawn points and generally rush you if they’re wanting to team wipe straight away. The spawn points are a bigger issue as well as people exploiting the 6 man team mechanic.

The people that will generally benefit from this are the solos and teams that are bulldozed easily by PVP chads. The 6 man teams hunting other teams already have 3 plates and UAVs etc. so it doesn’t make much of a difference. It’s just a slight benefit once you die.

Re: Diablo 4 Details Its Many Endgame Activities

Breekhead

@kyleforrester87 my bad it looks like that’s true. In any case I’ll eat my hat if both players need a PS+ sub, it’ll be the first game I know of to do that. Only one PS+ subscription is needed on a console and every other account on that same console can play online games no problem so the same should apply here.

Re: Diablo 4 Details Its Many Endgame Activities

Breekhead

@kyleforrester87 I played both betas with my wife and we only have one PS+ subscription between us. We just had to create a battle.net account and it was smooth sailing from there (apart from the queue times in the beta lol).

Re: U.S. Senator Says Sony Has 'Monopoly' on High-End Japanese Game Market

Breekhead

And for everyone that says it’s as simple as making a better first person shooter than COD that’s easier said than done. Whether COD is your type of game or not, nothing comes close to the gameplay and responsiveness of COD, not Battlefield, not Destiny.. maybe Doom comes close but that works best as a single player experience. COD isn’t my favorite shooter when it comes to immersion, story or world building, but the gameplay is like butter and I think that’s where they come out on top.

Re: U.S. Senator Says Sony Has 'Monopoly' on High-End Japanese Game Market

Breekhead

@cragis0001 Nintendo has big licenses like Mario, Zelda, and Pokémon (the biggest franchise on the planet). If those were ported to other consoles there would be no reason to buy Nintendo so I guess it’s like that with big titles like COD for Sony. And I have heard mention of COD coming to Nintendo’s next console (remember they were quick to sign an agreement with Microsoft about the deal).

Re: Sons of the Forest Success Rockets Predecessor to Top of European PS4 Charts

Breekhead

@Kiefer-Sutherland If you haven’t played Rust I’d suggest that. My wife, my sister and I have played over 1000 hours of it. It’s brutal because of the always online element (like in Ark) but securing your base and loot while you’re offline is a big part of the fun.

I’d also recommend DayZ. It’s an even more hardcore experience since there are a lot of complicated mechanics that take a while to learn and navigation is done mostly by stars, road signs and position of the sun etc. But because it’s more realistic it can feel quite satisfying if you’re into a hardcore experience.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 on PSVR2 Is the Full Game, Except for Split-Screen Play

Breekhead

@Titntin Sorry to hear man, that’s rough! I’d say all hope isn’t lost though and don’t feel like it’s not for you.. I see a lot of people get discouraged when they jump in, end up feeling nauseous and then completely dismiss VR as something either they can’t handle or something that needs to be “fixed to reduce nausea”. The reality is that yes some people have stronger stomachs than others but in truth VR needs to be eased into, to get your “VR legs” as they call it. And I’m not talking a few days, I’m talking weeks of playing in short bursts, starting with more stationary games and easing very slowly into games with full locomotion or extreme movements. Think of it like training your body for anything else (you wouldn’t suddenly jump into a rocket without acclimation or training and then blame the equipment for making you feel ill). The second you feel even a slight bit nauseous, stop immediately, take a long break or come back tomorrow. It’s really not the tech, but something your brain needs to get used to. I eased myself into it over a long while and there were times when I thought I’ve fully gotten my VR legs and either played too long or jumped ahead and played something like Ace Combat and felt super sick for over a day. VR is a really magical experience and I hate to see people turn away from it coz they think it’s not for them. You can do it my dude, just ease into it that’s all.

Re: Activision Removes Plagiarized Call of Duty Loyal Samoyed Skin, Apologises

Breekhead

@Flaming_Kaiser No need to be rude. Do you think the artist made up that breed of dog… no… and the military outfit… no… the gun… also exists. So he just combined 2 things, it’s not something completely made up out of his head, if it was then I’d have no doubt it was ripped off.

I do this for a living so I’m providing some perspective as to how this might have happened. You’re entitled to your opinion.

Re: Activision Removes Plagiarized Call of Duty Loyal Samoyed Skin, Apologises

Breekhead

As a professional artist myself I’d generally want to side with the artist in this situation, but there are a few grey areas that don’t seem to add up.

I doubt a big company would be stupid enough to make artwork that could be accused of direct plagiarism. It’s far easier to make something just different enough that it’s an original creation. Which leads me to how this kind of artwork is created. Reference plays a big role here and it’s not impossible that both the independent artist and one of the company’s studio artists used similar if not the same reference. As an earlier comment said, it’s just a dog’s head on a soldiers body. So if the idea is a winter soldier.. look for a dog breed that comes from cold snowy regions, then find an appropriate snow military outfit.. put those two together and you probably only have so many combinations. People have the same idea all the time.

Had the image been a direct copy I would have said that it’s more likely that they plagiarised the artist, but it’s a different angle completely so I think it’s more than likely just an unfortunate coincidence (more unfortunate for Activision since they now can’t use the content they created because of the similarities… more fortunate for the artist since he’s gotten a lot of exposure)

Apologies to the artist if I’m wrong and there is some shmuck at Activision that stole your idea. I have had my work blatantly stolen and used but I know that because it was the actual image, not a similar one.

Re: Random: This Crappy God of War Knock Off for Xbox Does Not Look Legal

Breekhead

@IonMagi lol I was just thinking about those dumb jumping games that appear everyday! It really makes browsing the latest releases an awful experience.

Not to be mean to the developer of this trash but I wish Sony was more strict about what they released on the store. These games wouldn’t sell on mobile, I doubt anyone would buy any of these (on purpose) on PlayStation. Does Sony think publishing more games on the store equals more sales, coz I would argue these kind of games stop people from buying other titles coz browsing becomes unpleasant.

Re: Sony Discontinuing PS5 Accolades As No One Used Them

Breekhead

I think it’s a shame, encouraging positivity and good sportsmanship is a great idea but I think they didn’t implement it in enough games (at least ones that I play).

Perhaps if there was some incentive or reward attached to receiving accolades (like a small voucher or store credits) it would have gotten more traction and encouraged more comradery.
