Kinetic Games’ uber-popular co-operative paranormal investigation outing Phasmophobia is coming to PS5, with full PSVR2 support, in Early Access in August. The release will feature full crossplay with all other platforms, and is promising a steady schedule of post-launch content updates.
“Phasmophobia is a four-player, online cooperative, psychological horror game,” the blurb reads. “You and your team of paranormal investigators will enter haunted locations filled with paranormal activity and try to gather as much evidence as you can. Use your ghost-hunting equipment to find and record evidence to sell on to a ghost removal team.”

Good lord. Day one for me this. Why on earth was this stuff not in the showcase!
Enjoyed the Eurogamer streams of this. Full PSVR2 support is brilliant news! Great year for horror this!
My birthday is coming up so looks like I’ll end up getting the VR2. I’ll definitely have to play this with it!
Very excited for the full PSVR2 support!
Sold due to PSVR2 support
Super excited, day one purchase!!
@get2sammyb hi Sammy, does this game have a single player mode do you know? thanks
Cannot wait for this.
Online co-op game? Yikes!
I played this quite a bit in VR with a friend on PC. It's fun and super terrifying.
@MoorePs5 You could play it solo on PC or with up to 3 other people so I'm sure it'll be the same on PSVR2.
I feel this may be a bit late, since the Twitch streamers have all moved on. When I say moved on, I really mean they've moved back to Fortnite. Originality in a streamer be damned.
@BeerIsAwesome people who just want to play the game don’t care weather streamers are playing it or not.
@LazyLombax But I choose my games based on people streaming them!
(so I know which ones to avoid)
Also, @lolwhatno is mostly right. Streamers may generally be terrible people, but they are usually following the trends. Among Us was big for a while, then the devs announced it for consoles, and it's hardly sold gangbusters since.
i've been waiting for this , amazing game for psvr2 , will be 100% worth getting if u have one.
@Deadlyblack thanks, I dont mind co-op but like the option to play single player, I think I'll get it, looks good
@LazyLombax That was mostly just me being sarcastic, but I know there do exist people out there who do buy their games based on the latest trends, and those who buy a console for a single game. Point is, for a while Among Us was huge for a month or so because of the streamers, so the devs figured it would be fine to make more money by bringing it to more platforms. Phasmophobia is similar. Big on Twitch, but it's peak has passed. So it may get a revival, but more likely it will be "just another game".
As for me? I like to think I have such a unique library of both good and awful that nobody would want to follow up my choices anyway. 😅
@BeerIsAwesome There were people playing Among Us long before streamers made it popular and there’s still people playing Among Us today. Just because streamers aren’t playing it doesn’t mean people aren’t. The “peak” of player base on Steam has no affect on a different platform, especially when the game doesn’t support cross-play. A game can be “dead” on PC and do great on another platform because it’s new to that audience.
Im guessing we dont have details about what the early access entails?
@LazyLombax Completely fair point.
@BeerIsAwesome Not trying to say you’re wrong or anything like that. Just trying to give some perspective. If a game looks fun, play it, no one cares, but in a good way! 😄
@LazyLombax I realised that after your last one, so I didn't offer a rebuttal. I suppose my perspective was one of risk vs reward for the developer. Why port when blah blah blah. 🙃
