Do people think this one is gonna last?
I remember hearing it had a decent beta, both in terms of engagement and quality. But it still feels like one of those fast burners; it'll have a nice initial start, slowly peter out between slow content drops and general player disinterest, and will shut down within the next two years leaving behind a legendary legacy for the 10000 players that keep with it throughout.
That, or it'll just barely skirt by with enough players to keep the lights on, but never enough buzz to be remembered.
R in Thursday i was reading Tuesday and went check calendar
The moment they went premium, they killed the game.
@RoomWithaMoose don’t see why it shouldn’t.
There’s an awful lot of excitement for the game on Reddit from what I’ve seen.
Time will tell
@RoomWithaMoose most probably nobody is going to care in less than 6 months.
@RoomWithaMoose It will lose players quickly and then maintain a small devoted following for the rest of its life, with peaks during the first few days of a new season. No wipes/resets or anything means it doesn’t really have a lot of continuous engagement potential. Most players will reach their endpoint and rarely come back.
@Hurblyburbly While I don't frequent Reddit enough to understand or interpret its trends, it does feel like saying the esoteric social media platform that's segregated by interests and sub-groups housing all the excitement is a bit damning in and of itself.
The server slam only had 10% of release day content. This game will do well for a long time. I feel this might be the first extraction shooter that gains a casual audience. This game will do what Marathon was hoping to do.
@Boxmonkey Where does the 10% come from? It had 25% of the day one maps.
@SeaDaVie I watched an interview with one of the devs. He actually said it was 10-15% of day one content.

@Nnfyrbsnss what makes you say that? I'm not really into extraction shooters, so I'm wondering why making it free would have been any different
@Nnfyrbsnss
They did not kill the game the moment they went 'premium'. You all complain about live service games with the pay to win extra's i.e. loot boxes and supply crates etc, but when a developer decides against that and charges a one time payment you still complain.
Then you claim nobody will care less in 6 months. Have you actually seen the hype for this game?
The game itself is fantastic, hype very much deserved.
@SeaDavie
You are confused, the Tech Test 2 had 25%, the server slam had less.
@JustX There's 4 maps at launch. 10% would be 0.4 of a map.
This won't compete with BF6 or CoD. I hope it does well as it does actually look as though it could be a good game but there's no way it's going to be able to go toe to toe with BF6 or CoD.a
So crazy hyped for this one. Absolutely incredible game of what I’ve played over different tests. Day one!
I haven’t felt this hyped about a release in a long time.
Played the recent server slam and wasn’t bowled over by the gameplay: it’s solid enough.
But each of the mechanics scratches a specific itch in a meaningful way, from progression and cooperation to loot jeopardy. Nothing astonished, but everything was exactly what it needed to be.
Why the excitement, then?
Because in a world of AAA titles that dazzle for a handful of hours but lack a compelling loop, this sort of experience is surprisingly rare: a game that chooses its demographic carefully and caters competently to their needs.
Indie titles do this very well, but it’s not often you see a title achieve it at this scale. And it might just catch a wave.
TLDR: if you like extraction shooters, you’re probably going to play this for a very long time. With a little luck and ongoing developer support, this might be the game that elevates the genre out of its niche.
