Following a significant shakeup of its overall business and production pipelines, Ubisoft has revealed that three franchise veterans will be responsible for Assassin's Creed going forward, under its new Vantage Studios umbrella.
Given that this news has been broken by Variety magazine of all things (alongside Ubisoft's own official blog), we're guessing that it's all part of a big PR move from the embattled publisher — but the appointments do at least seem like a step in the right direction.
Perhaps most pertinent to fans of the historical series, Jean Guesdon has been made head of content for the franchise as a whole, which basically means that he'll decide its direction from a creative standpoint.
Guesdon was the creative director on both Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag and Assassin's Creed Origins — two of the most well received games in the series.
Meanwhile, Martin Schelling is going to be in charge of the overall brand. He's going to be the guy overseeing things from a business point of view, having previously been a chief production officer at Ubisoft, and having worked on a number of Assassin's Creed releases, such as Revelations, Black Flag, Origins, and Valhalla.
And last but not least, we've got François de Billy, who's been appointed head of production excellence — which is a fancy way of saying he's responsible for making sure that development timelines stay on track.
de Billy managed the production of both Origins and Valhalla.
Given that Ubisoft has "several" Assassin's Creed projects currently in the works, these guys are going to have a lot of stuff to get through over the coming months.
