Re: EA Sports Skipping Standalone F1 Game in 2026, Will Return 'Reimagined' in 2027

BlaizeV

@Slideaway1983 At least Saudi are quite invested in F1 so in theory they should care about the game enough to keep it being made.

Personally I fell off of the F1 games years ago, they became very stale. I wish they would add a bunch more open wheel series to the game with F1 being the main draw. Something similar to Toca Race Driver back in the day which had so much content and felt more fleshed out.

Re: Sony Cracks Down on Fake PS5 Gear, Sues eBay Seller for $2 Million

BlaizeV

What always confuses me with the vast amount of bootlegs etc on eBay is how the company themselves get away with it?

eBay's entire business model is fees from sales. Which obviously means they profit from illegal counterfeit products.

While it is a huge marketplace to regulate and there are tools in place to report items and sellers the truth is eBay don't do alot to counteract these sales.

It's always amazed me how they aren't being sued all of the time by companies who have obvious cases against them for loss of potential revenue. And those losses being to eBay's benefit, not just individual sellers

Re: Sony Stands with Japan's Creators in AI Copyright Crackdown

BlaizeV

Best AI news in ages.

I want to live in an actual reality, enjoy creativity that is authentic and made from the human experience.

AI has no place in the world of human expression. It's a tool to crunch numbers and simulations not to replace art and the human expressions therein..

Re: Now Devs Are Politely Asking Their PS4 Players to Upgrade to PS5

BlaizeV

Dual sense is the most uncomfortable controller I've used in decades.

The PS5 is ugly as sin and overpriced. Price hiking and record profits huh? On a console that has only now crept past the worst selling home console for Playstation ever? Hmmmm

I want to upgrade and I'm getting closer but the truth is that many haven't because what the PS5 offers isn't that appealing to them. That is a truth and the active ps4 base proves that.

Re: Arcade Archives 2 Receives a Big Price Hike with Ridge Racer on PS5

BlaizeV

Problem with waiting for a sale is arcade archives releases rarely ever do go on sale. And when they do the prices don't drop too much.

I remain interested but these price increases are getting too much. Doubling the price of a normal AA release even for the base version is hard to swallow.

Remember when Daytona USA got a HD remaster for just £6? Those were the days.

Re: Opinion: If You're on the Fence, Consider Buying a PS5 Now Before the Prices Inevitably Rise

BlaizeV

Not bothering with this gen. PS5 is an ugly console, that is overpriced and overvalued in regards to the amount of software on it. This generation has pushed me away from Playstation. I have my PS4 and I'm happy with it.

I don't value high end graphic fidelity. I've bought a Switch 2, I'll get to play at least an entire generation of fun Nintendo games I missed and hopefully the best of what Nintendo has to offer. Not that the current news coming out on that system feels me with much optimism either.

Prices should always go down on tech, not up. Nothing manufactured 5 years ago in the tech world should be more expensive now than then. At least that should be how it works.

Re: Dodgy List of Most Influential Games Ever Puts 2-Month-Old RPG in the Top 10

BlaizeV

@DonJorginho I platinumed both Shenmue 1 and 2 having barely played the original on DC back in the day.

They are fun but also complete trash games. Agreed that beyond QTE's nothing about them is that influential really. They aren't open world in the way people say, the clockwork nature of them wasn't new either. Very dated and clunky.

Also what is the one thing Shenmue defenders like to say? "There is nothing quite like Shenmue" and while I agree isn't that also the complete opposite of Influential lol

Re: Kids Aren't Dreaming of Owning a PS6, Says Netflix Games Boss

BlaizeV

my 10yr old nephew does 50% games on his phone that look like utter trash. The other 50% is on consoles mostly playing Minecraft or Fortnite. The latter of which he'd probably destroy most of you in lol.

He did just play through all of Luigi's Mansion 3 recently. I think they still value consoles to some extent because most children of that age are the children of Millennials who grew up with Consoles.

PC is the real competition to consoles for mainstream gaming. Phones are the competition in terms of sheer time spent. Streaming is non existent in comparison.

Re: Sony Is Betting Big on the Global Growth of Anime

BlaizeV

Since the Crunchyroll/Funimation merger the physical media side of Anime has been really bad. Closing Rightstuf for the vastly inferior Crunchyroll store being the worst of it. Along with a huge drop in what is getting released on Blu Ray.

Don't really welcome a further monopoly from Sony, late stage capitalism is slowly ruining everything I love in life.

Re: Fantasian Neo Dimension (PS5) - Delightful JRPG Comfort Food Let Down by Uneven Combat

BlaizeV

@johncalmc

this is why a 10 point scale is flawed, a 7 weirdly feels low to many people.

If the rating scale was just 5 points it gives less wriggle room but it feels more consistent. A 7/10 is suddenly a 4/5 which reads more positively. The downside is previous 9/10's get 5 stars and will be unfairly deemed as perfect.

Still for me 5 stars is better as a scale.

1 = Don't Play
2 = Should probably avoid
3 = Flawed experience but give it a try if you want
4 = Good experience and worth playing
5 = Great experience and shouldn't be missed

So much simpler for consumers and reviewers.

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Sequel's Platinum Trophy Won't Make You Want to Jump into a Mako Reactor

BlaizeV

I think the JRPG genre could reward more trophies for playing through the story. For many that's all they are likely going to do (if that even) and too often the trophies for doing that equate to less than a third of the actual trophies on offer.

I've also always been of the opinion that the most grindy and difficult trophies should be bronze only, because those doing them care more about 100% really.

For example I recently got the the Platinum in Tales of Xillia. Completing the story was around 30ish percent of the trophies. 40% was levelling each character to max, each getting a silver.

I don't know that doesn't seem balanced to me. I was going for the 100% either way but those that don't get left with just 30% for playing through the entire story which is often anywhere between 30-70hrs in a JRPG.

Re: The Story of Shenmue Is Far from Over, Says ININ

BlaizeV

I like the idea of more DLC for Shenmue 3 to get the ball rolling.

I like the idea some have of going back to the low res clunky look of the dreamcast games and cranking out the rest of the story on a shoestring budget while feeding graphics nostalgia more.

Re: SEGA Heaps Praise on Atlus Following Strong Metaphor: ReFantazio Sales

BlaizeV

Amazing what buying a celebrated developer with a niche audience that could only grow can do.

It's strange how purchases like this don't happen more often, though so often even when they do the studios are mishandled.

Like Sega ever heard of supergiant? Seems like an easy win. Though of course remaining independent is totally fine, just using them as an example.
