Last night’s Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties broadcast didn’t include a whole lot of new information, as we’ve already reported extensively on protagonist Kazuma Kiryu’s new orphanage and motorcycle gang minigames.
But the very end of the latest trailer does tease one very interesting detail: Emergency Call Ambulance, the 1999 arcade game from SEGA, will be emulated on console for the first time and fully playable within the remake.
This title had been touted for the Dreamcast decades ago, as part of a 3-in-1 pack supposedly alongside Jambo! Safari and Brave Firefighters. But that bundle never materialised, and while the former did eventually launch on the Wii and DS, this will mark the first time the aforementioned paramedic game has ever been playable on console.

The game’s set in Chicago and sees you assuming the role of an ambulance driver as you attempt to transport a variety of different people back to hospital.
Reckless driving causes your patient’s heart rate to spike, but unsurprisingly you’ll have to deal with all kinds of unexpected incidents on the road.
This is SEGA at its pomp, as many of the scenarios are utterly ridiculous, like one mission where you have to transport the president to hospital after his private plane is struck by lightning.
If all that wasn’t enough, it looks like Kiryu will have a Game Gear in Yakuza Kiwami 3 as well, with one brief part of the embedded trailer showing Sonic the Hedgehog running on the classic 90s handheld.
We assume you’ll be able to unlock various different games to play on this, all of which will be emulated within the remake – no AA batteries required.
Other activities glimpsed in the trailer include darts, the driving range, and pool – all Yakuza staples at this point. You can also wear various different outfits, and even customise your smartphone.
