Re: Talking Point: Has Sony's Dithering Turned Off PS Vita TV's Chances?

-CraZed-

Honestly I didn't see what chance VitaTV had even before the latest Amazon announcement.

Even though consoles and "dedicated' gaming devices are becoming more robust in terms of their functionality I still think they have a long way to go before they are going to be looked at for their streaming capabilities by the masses.
Vita TV would be a niche for sure while Amazon's Fire TV is right up there with Roku or Apple TV in terms of how it is perceived. Vita TV was DOA IMHO. A cool device for sure but just doesn't have the mindshare that Amazon can muster behind its products ATM.

Re: Would You Like to Change Your PSN Username?

-CraZed-

I really, really, really would like to change my PSN ID. I wish they would just make it work like Steam's ID system. You can change your display name to ANYTHING even if it is the same as another user but you have a single account name that doesn't change.

Re: Talking Point: Are We Starting to Expect Too Much from PlayStation Plus?

-CraZed-

PS+ is the best value in gaming today. SO far I haven't heard or seen many complaints on the web after the PS4 launched and if I did I'd be sure to remind them of how unheard of this type of program is in the industry.
If you own all three of Sony's hardware offerings then you should have a cornucopia of software to keep you busy throughout the entire year!
If you only own one or two you would still have plenty to do on it outside the games you already purchased.
Can't wait to get my new Vita at the end of the month then I will have such a huge backlog of games to play I just know I won't have the time. All thanks to PS+!

Re: Rumour: Is the PS4 About to Become the Primary Platform for Call of Duty?

-CraZed-

I don't normally buy my FPS games on console (though I did get BF4 on my PS4 this time) as I prefer a M+KB scheme on my PC but this would most definitely be a giant coup for Sony.
It will also cement PS4 as the lead platform this gen. And with the XB1 having issues with its APIs and MS's choice of eSRAM over a unified pool of memory (making it harder to work with in much the same vein as the PS3 last gen) PS4 stands to be the top dog for some time to come.

Re: Review: Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition (PlayStation 4)

-CraZed-

Sammy I have to say I usually agree with your reviews but this time I think may have taken a powershot to the dome m8. This game is at least an 8/10. The core gameplay is brilliant and in no way forces you to just use the main rifle.
Sure, mastering the powershot and aiming ( it works really well for me) gives you the best weapon in the game but there are plenty of situations where using another weapon works as well or better.
It's the zombie apocalypse Sammy! Ammo would be tight and you can buy enough to get through ANY of the stages. Just few of the many nitpicks of the review. Let's just say...

I loved this game on PS3 and I am loving it on PS4 just as much. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go play my 6/10 zombie apocalypse, twin stick, survival horror, shooter game.

Re: Rumour: Sony Will Strap on Its Virtual Reality Headset Next Month

-CraZed-

@get2sammyb Agreed. $250 would be a maximum price point for my household. That said I have my doubts about this head set unless they are incorporating some processing hardware within the VR headset as I just don't see the PS4 being able to deliver a convincing experience on par with the OR without some extra help.
That would most likely raise the cost of the device. It'll all depend on whether this is being sold as a peripheral or complimentary hardware. I'll remain cautiously optimistic about the headset until we know more.

Re: Who Would Win Wednesdays: Dante vs. Kratos

-CraZed-

@tabris95 Agree two demure characters would be more even. Dante isn't even in the same league of who's-more-badass as Kratos. Dante is great if you have a few demons to kill. But fill up the screen with demons (many of the low level enemies in any GoW are more or less demons) and throw in a whole bunch of Gods and Titans and you need a Kratos. Not even close in my book.

Re: Opinion: EA Found Its Call of Duty Killer, and Committed a Titanic Mistake

-CraZed-

@Bliquid

There is some truth to that as I know there will be more weapons, a few more mech types and from recent rumours some type of map specific, AI controlled, gigantic monsters or aliens or something (which actually sounded pretty interesting) but the AI is there to stay. I suppose they could iterate upon it and improve it over time but killing bots during a multiplayer match is just not my idea of fun.

It'll be interesting to see what else they have in store for the game beyond what the beta had to offer. But at this moment I personally won't be getting the game on any platform.

Just not my cup of tea I guess.

Re: Opinion: EA Found Its Call of Duty Killer, and Committed a Titanic Mistake

-CraZed-

I have played the beta on PC and was not overly impressed. It is a fun game mind you it just has a few glaring issues and I think those are being overlooked and explained away. I guess I am in the minority when I say loading the maps up with dead brained AI bots makes for a very deflating experience after a few rounds.
I kept harkening the game (which is the full game mind you) to CoD's combat training. Except the bots were even dumber. I would not have bought it on PS4 anyways as I usually reserve my competitive multiplayer FPS games to PC. But I do think EA made a huge mistake. One which they will correct post haste.

Re: January NPD: PS4 Reclaims Lead in Console War by Almost Doubling Sales of Xbox One

-CraZed-

All valid concerns. Just realize they are busy ramping up for a Japan launch in just over a week and remember that when we all got our launch PS3s it took quite a while for the system to get where it is today. I am sure it'll all start coming together by the holidays this year but there are bound to be bumps and delays throughout. I just hope they, as I am sure you do, stay on task and deliver even if they need to delay some things once in a while.
A lot going on for PS right now. So I think we have to cut em some slack

Re: January NPD: PS4 Reclaims Lead in Console War by Almost Doubling Sales of Xbox One

-CraZed-

@Gamer83 We could look at it that way but I am trying to be optimistic. I want Sony to capitalize on this success and keep the good stuff coming. Shu Yoshida promised us a few things with regards to features and I just hope they don't end up forgetting to make those a reality now that they seem to have garnered so much goodwill this gen. They started out right this gen so the momentum is propelling the PS brand ahead but if they start forgetting what it was that catalyzed the PS4's success (listening to their consumers) it could end up really hurting the future of the console and any that come after it.

Re: PS Vita's Memory Cards May Cost a Bomb, But Digital Purchases Are on the Rise

-CraZed-

@Paranoimia I think you are overstating your argument just a tad. There are more than just retro indie type games out there so the nihilism of your statement is kind of disingenuous.
There is plenty of room in the Vita library and the gaming scene as a while for both AAA and indie titles. And because they are usually developed by different developers it isn't a situation where big name devs are opting for Indies over AAAs.
Granted there may be less of a rush to get those big games out due to the deluge of indie content but that is a good thing IMHO as it serves to allow AAA devs more time to release games of quality.

Besides, if a game is fun who cares if it has pumped up graphics or 8 bit sprites? I say why can't we have both.

Re: PS Vita Slim Ventures Stateside in Borderlands 2 Bundle

-CraZed-

This is the one I am going to get. I wanted to stick with getting an original Vita but this BL2 bundle sold me. I love that damned game and I will play it all over again just to get trophies (I played it on PC originally) and this has convinced me to finally jump on the Vita band wagon. With BL2 and the entire catalogue of PS+ plus games I have amassed AND remote play I might not even have time to turn my PS4 on.

Re: Pachter: PlayStation Now Doesn't Have a Prayer of Maintaining Subscribers

-CraZed-

Once again Pachter pulls out his dunce cap and shows the world how little he actually knows.
Has he heard of a little service called Netflix? Does he not realize that with the deluge of developers shuttering their companies or cutting back on staffing or projects and that many are looking to diversify their revenue streams? Does he even know that Sony has a heap of FIRST PARTY content that alone would make the service worth while? Has he even felt the pulse of the community who are actually very interested in the service?
How the heck am I not getting paid to speak about it and yet I could come up with a much better analysis of the PS Now service than a so-called industry insider/analyst.
Pathetic.

Re: This Clever PS4 Platformer Makes a Strong Case for the PlayStation Camera

-CraZed-

I have to take issue with your thesis statement there Sammy. You highlight the nefarious side of streaming but fail to mention anything about the LEGITIMATE streams which are mostly likely the cause for the much higher than expected sales of the PS4's camera peripheral. I would say that integrating Twitch and UStream functionality is a very compelling case for the PS4's camera.

OT: The game's concept looks rather interesting. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for it in the future.

Re: Video: Shining a Light on Lara Croft's Light Bar Torch in Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

-CraZed-

All the whining over the LED is too damned funny. I have played AC4, Marvel, NBA2k, Resogun, Knack for hours on end without battery issues. The battery life is fine especially with the ability to charge while the PS4 is in standby.
I would much rather Sony focus on other fixes and upgraded firmware/features than worry about the option to turn off the light bar which has more uses than just the nifty little lighting tricks like camera integration, move functionality and makes it rather easy to identify controllers during local multiplayer. I get that some people have a beef with the lightbar but I find it rather silly.

Re: Blimey, PS Plus Subscriptions Have Tripled Since the PS4's Launch

-CraZed-

@rjejr You are assuming that ALL of those increases are just attributed to PS4. I think it is more appropriate to postulate that a majority of PS4 owners subscribed to PS + AND there has been a significant rise in PS3 and Vita owner subscriptions. The benefits of PS+ is more evident on those systems anyways.

Re: Weirdness: Here's a Novel Way to Dim the PS4 Controller's Light Bar

-CraZed-

@Savino Yeah it is. Which is why it is actually useful for developers to put in those little lighting changes etc.
While I personally like the light bar as I use the camera with it and I like those little touches it brings to gaming in a darkened room. I can see others not liking it and these are a nifty little idea that could help those folks out.
I'll parrot the article's main question though, Why didn't I think of that?
Great idea.

Re: Feature: Three Reasons Why You Should Skip the PS Vita Slim and Snag the Original

-CraZed-

Is Sony even listening? It is the high price of the cards that is killing the Vita. There was no need for a revision on the hardware, except for one that ditches the proprietary Sony memory cards in favor of a cheaper, more open format namely Secure Digital cards, or price their cards in line with others'. The prohibitively high cost of the memory cards is one of the main reasons I haven't jumped on a Vita yet. I can't fathom having to buy a 32GB or a 64GB card o hold all those PS+ games I have saved up.
The OG Vita's price point is fine now and I expect it to drop even further this year so why even do this to be honest? Unless they mean to completely phase out the original. I guess on that level it makes sense but the price for THAT version is too high.

Re: Investment Firm Encourages You to Steer Clear of Sony's Stock

-CraZed-

Sony is a troubled company. I really hope that their One Sony campaign means that they will bring their pricing in line across the board as a lot of their stuff the pricing is just too high.
Sony is a victim of it's own R&D as well. They sink a LOT of money into R&D and yet other companies continue to beat them to market with similar and many times better tech. This is true for TVs, camcorders, cameras, phones etc. The only device I can even name that is cheaper than a competing device is the PS4. Plus they are always creating new stuff that never even makes it to market.
Lastly they are always trying to push proprietary tech on consumers again the one exception is the PS consoles. PS1 did CDs, PS2 did DVDs PS3 did BR but it also used common HDD and multiple flash memory cards etc. But for everything else they try t use their magic gate cards and the like and it stinks. The Vita for instance needs to open up to less expensive SD cards etc. for it to be more successful.
Not sure about any of their other devices but my Sony handicam only used mini DVD-rs and their expensive memory cards. Plus it was a PITA to transfer recorded movies to PC.
I just hope this year Sony gets their act together.

Re: A 'Well-Known DRM Solution' May Be Coming to Your PlayStation Multimedia Apps

-CraZed-

@Shellybird27 For sure.
Most likely this is to help them address the issue of HDCP for video as they drop it for gaming to ensure the transition goes according to plan. Heck, it could even be they just lost an employee and need short term help for the current team, because you know DRM is a full time job, and it could be a nothing burger all together.

The interwebs are gonna go crazy (especially over at IGN) with those saying "see we told you Sony was gonna do the same thing," etc.
There is no way Sony is going to drop some crazy DRM scheme akin to Microsoft's original policies so people need to relax. Though I know they won't.

Re: Talking Point: Do the December NPD Results Flag a Flaw in PS4's Strategy?

-CraZed-

The only thing the December NPD numbers reveal is that Microsoft had the inventory to sell here while Sony did not. Sony has a MAJOR launch to get ready for in February on a little archipelago named Japan.

I would say, that despite NOT having the available stock that Microsoft had, Sony had a great month and it signals nothing but positives for the PS brand here in the States

Re: PlayStation Now Is Not the PS4 Backward Compatibility Fix You're Craving

-CraZed-

So no subscription or rental for owning a title on a Blu-Ray disc but how about a PSN title? If you own it digitally would that allow you to play via PS Now without having to rebuy a title? That would be much more feasible I would think. Or maybe at least a major discount.
I mean, if it works well enough I will definitely use it to play those games I missed in previous gens but I would also like to see my PSN titles made available without having to pay for them.

Re: December NPD: Xbox One Hits Back at PS4 in Next-Gen Console War

-CraZed-

@Gamer83 While I agree that the Xbox brand is strong here in the states I have to disagree with your assertion that "Sony is never going to be the top dog here again," and "Too much damage was done to the PS brand's rep in the early days of last-gen."
RIght now Sony is Top Dog and while they were slightly outsold for the month of December their Early launch success is keeping them ahead of the XB1 even here in the States where the PS4 stock levels are still pretty low. Also, the very fact that the PS4 has enjoyed the biggest launch in console history would also suggest that any damage done by the PS3 launch debacle has since eroded.
PS4 isn't just keeping pace with its competition it is out ahead ATM despite the lack of consoles available here.
