This is how Sony does business, always has been. MS has been holding the timed exclusive card since the 360 came out and it never once swayed me to buy a 360 multiplatform title over a PS3 version. Mainly because I hardly ever buy any DLC anyways but also because I don't want to support that type of business practice...
It just seems wrong to put out a game and support one group over another based on the platform they choose to play your game on. They have every right to do it but that doesn't mean it isn't shady IMHO. And so far from the presale numbers on Amazon and Best Buy there are a lot of folks this gen who agree with me as most of the multiplatform games (including versions of BF4 and CoD) are selling better for the PS4. It's a good sign for the future.
Considering you can get any of those sizes in an SD card for 1/3 of the price I'd say they are still VERY expensive. Come on Sony, either drop the price or drop the proprietary cards...
If I could buy one today I would. But the wife would kill me. I already have my PS4 on order. I'm gonna have to wait until next year sometime. Hopefully by the time I can get one a newer model will have been launched.
Sony is riding the good PR waves at this point. That's okay because with TGS just around the corner there will be more to come...
Even if they don't let a whole lot out there I think they have seen the writing on the wall at this point. There will be a shortage of consoles so those who have a preorder secured won't be switching and risk not getting a console on day one.
The big AAA titles are coming of that we have no doubt but heck there are so many good games already available who cares?
As much as the Black Ops version sucked getting CoD games are GOOD for the Vita. A price drop, CoD Ghosts, KZ, and cross play/cross buy will make Vita all the more appealing and we will see an uptick in Vita sales.
While I fully expect a lot of PS3 and Vita stuff they NEED to drop some games we have yet to hear about for PS4. With the PS4s release date being announced I expect some of the UI and other features to be further explained as well.
@Squiggle55 Remember the disaster of the Saturn's now available reveal? Yeah that wouldn't happen to the PS4. I'd be waiting in line at the Best Buy I preordered at that afternoon. I do hope the release date is Oct 29th...
Even with them remaining mum on a PS4 port I am going to wait for that version. Especially with rumors of a PC release coming you just know that the ease of porting from PC to PS4 it's a foregone conclusion that there will be a PS4 version.
@buickmackane Well, you're a right friendly bloke now aren't you? So glad to know you were spurred by your lack of caring to post such a heartfelt post decrying your lack of concern for others' purchasing habits. Not sure where anyone insinuated you would be affected. However, there are people affected by the news since they have already preordered an XBone and now have to wait until some later date in 2014. Do you care? Apparently just enough to post a screed on how fortunate you are to have ordered both. Thank you for your time sunshine!
@buickmackane It means those who DID preorder an XB One is any of those territories will now have to wait until next year to get one which might spur them to buy a different console as in a PS4. How does it affect you? Not in the slightest but that wasn't his point now was it?
@Scollurio If they release EQ Next on PS4 I might end up having to get two (one for me and one for the wife) unless they integrate them with the PC community.
Some new IPs or at least stuff they have not showed yet... They need to show the games. A Vita/PS4 bundle would be epic! A Vita price drop is definitely in order and of course.... PS4s release date 21st-29th of OCT!
@Lelouch Well let's hope that doesn't happen. But even if some people do see it that way as long as it increases sales for the device there will be room for both camps. I just don't see it becoming shoehorned given its capability to play full fledged portable titles.
While I agree that many publishers might pass up development of unique or separate versions for titles on the PS4 I don't think that is necessarily a problem at least in the long term. There will be plenty of indie titles on the platform AND just being able to play the console version of games on your Vita is worth $199, which is where I think the price will be very soon. And if the rumors of a $500 PS4/Vita bundle are true the Vita will skyrocket.
This is good for the ecosystem Sony is trying to create. Once there are more Vitas are in players' hands developers will HAVE to make original titles for it especially with the crazy good attach rates of the Vita. Games will sell for it.
For the record....There is NO lack of games for the Vita. It has a library of over 200 games already and the remote play function will only serve to make the Vita even better. In the long run.
@moomoo Well you need only look at the top selling preorders on both Amazon and Best buy to know that the PS4 is more popular than the other consoles at this time. Polls online can be self selecting but the large margins between the systems in just about every poll is at the very least a decent barometer of consumer excitement and engagement. Both spell good news for Sony and the PS4.
I do have to admit it was cool putting a Spiderman t-shirt and some mickey mouse ears on my XBOX avatar or throwing big head Deadpool mask on, but...
It looked to me like the updated PSN profiles have the ability to use your own custom photos (most likely available to friends only)... Then I can used my avatar you see to the left of my post.... That would be enough for me.
@get2sammyb While I do agree that it is a shame we don't know a lot about those who make some of our favorite games it can be a double edged sword as with the recent Phil Fish fiasco...
But Barlog is a great developer and I too am looking forward to seeing what they are cooking up over there at Sony SM.
@rjejr The scratch off lottery ticket would be a neat little idea for games like GTA. Made me chuckle at first but honestly it would be a neat little mini game...
@Kenshin0104 That's great news... One less person to compete with over the likely limited number of bundles should they go ahead and do this.... Man I will jump all over this... I might even keep the PS4 I already have preordered should this drop.
@ztpayne7 Apologies but I must have read your post wrong (its after 1230am) I thought you meant the HDMI in port the XB1 is sporting... That is the "lackluster" feature I was referring to. As for a standard RCA jack video out, it is about time that the consoles move away from that... HDTVs can be had for cheap these days and there are more console owners with HDTVs than without...if the reverse were true I'd say yeah they needed to include one but that is not the case. Also but correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the XB1 without a old school RCA hookup as well?
@ztpayne7 Having to develop features around that HDMI in would have added to cost for sure not to mention the added parts. Besides its a lackluster feature IMHO. I'm more excited to get the X1 from Comcast which has two HDMI in ports etc.. I can do all the TV watching and input switching I want through that.
I REALLY want to play this game... alas I will have to wait for it to hit Gaikai on the PS4 some time down the road (if Gaikai ever really pans out). Have my PS4 preordered and I will be selling my PS3 to help pay for it. So many good games at the end of this generation.... Puppeteer does look amazing though.
So far I'm actually more excited for third party titles at launch (infamous though is my most anticipated) in Destiny and Watch Dogs.... I'll probably end up playing KZ and Knack though.... Of course since Drive Club is PS+ I'll be playing that as well. Hurry up and be PS4 release date already!
I really can't wait to play this with my kids. Castle of Illusion was one of my favorite games as a young buck. I Used my summer job money to buy a TV a Genesis and a hekuva lot of games. Castle of Illusion was among them and I played the heck out it. Can't wait.
@get2sammyb It's okay I can always multiply your kg by 2.2 and easily get the lbs. I wish we would just go metric here already.... it really is a better standard. But in no way would I like to have to convert C to F.... I can never remember off the top of my head the formula (C x 9/5 + 32 = F) for that.
10/29 would be perfect!!!! I start my clinical rotations on the 30th so I'd be able to stand in line on the 28th and grab mine at midnight on launch day!!!! Come on Sony do me a solid here and make it the 29th!
