Below is everything you need to know about Gizmo in MultiVersus.
Gizmo: Biography and Overview
Before we begin to learn about all unlockables, moves, and how to win with Gizmo, we should get to know a little more about the character courtesy of his official biography and overview.
Name | First Appearance | Character Class | Voiced By |
---|---|---|---|
Gizmo | Gremlins (1984) | Support | Daniel Ross |
Gizmo made his debut in the movie Gremlins, a comedy horror about cuddly creatures that have the potential to turn nasty. He's what's known as a mogwai, a species that undergoes an unpleasant transformation if they eat after midnight. Other important notes are to never expose mogwai to sunlight, as it'll kill them, and to never get them wet, as they'll rapidly multiply. The film is a cult classic, and Gizmo's appearance in MultiVersus features many references to the source material.

Specials
Move Name |
Description |
Input |
---|---|---|
Song of the Mogwai |
Gizmo sings, spawning musical note projectiles that damage enemies hit and apply Music. The musical notes will fly towards nearby allies giving Music buff. They will also follow friendly projectiles and apply hitstun. Hold input to keep singing | Neutral Triangle |
Beep Beep! |
Gizmo hops in and drives a toy car around, ramming it into enemies. He can exit by jumping or dodging, sending the car forward. Allies can drive the car around if no one is already driving. If Gizmo enters the car using his Up Special, it will overheat and launch forward. The car will explode shortly thereafter or if it crashes. Once the car is destroyed, cooldown applies | Side Triangle |
Gizmo-a-Go-Go |
Gizmo leaps upward. If an ally is nearby and in front of him, he will leap towards them and attach himself and Cleanse them. While attached, Gizmo can still perform attacks but will take a percentage of the damage his ally takes. Gizmo can jump to detach himself. If Gizmo hits an enemy with his dash, he will bounce upward off them. Gizmo can also dash to the car summoned by his Grounded Side Special | Up Triangle |
Corrugated Camouflage | Gizmo hops in a toy chest, which blocks projectiles. Hold input to stay in the chest. While attached to an ally he will hold out an umbrella for a similar effect on his ally | Down Triangle |
Song of the (Flying) Mogwai |
Similar to ground, but the musical notes shoot forward | Air Neutral Triangle |
Umbrella Bash |
Gizmo dashes forward holding an umbrella in front of him, blocking projectiles. Hold input to have Gizmo unfurl the umbrella and glide |
Air Side Triangle |
Gizmo-a-Go-Go (Flying) |
Same as ground | Air Up Triangle |
Falling Furball | Gizmo does a butt slam downward and bounces back up if he hits enemies | Air Down Triangle |
Passive Abilities
Time to Listen: Some of Gizmo's attacks apply a Music buff. Affected enemies are Silenced if they reach the max stack count, stopping them from using cooldown abilities. Affected allies will create a musical note when they evade, hitting overlapping enemies and applying Music to them.
How to Win as Gizmo
As a Support character, Gizmo is best suited to supplementing his allies with some interesting setups.
One of the simplest examples is the combination of his arrows and his popcorn projectile. Send out the popcorn with his Up attack and then shoot it with an arrow to explode it, dealing damage. However, if you shoot it with a fire arrow, the popcorn will explode with more force and in the direction away from you, which can be great for knockouts. Gizmo is all about these interplays between his various moves.
Another example: the popcorn will magnetise to Gizmo's toy car. The car is a great way to move quickly around the arena, and it'll "pick up" any popcorn. If you then hop out and shoot an arrow at the car, the popcorn will explode, making it a sort of mobile bomb.
Something important to note is his moves that build Music. The Music effect builds towards Silenced, which is a state that means an enemy temporarily cannot use any moves with a cooldown meter. It's good to work this into your playstyle, using the Down attack and Neutral Special to spit out musical notes.
Gizmo can directly interface with an ally too by latching on like a backpack. While in this state, you have access to most of your moves, so you can add more punch to your teammate's offence.
Gizmo also has great recovery with his umbrella, on Side Air Special. Hold it down and he'll perform a generous glide, so you can get back to the stage easily.
