Is this a patch for the PS4 game or a native PS5 version? If the latter, is it free for those of us who already the game on PS4?

I lucked into a long upgrade to premium and am really pleased with what's there for day one. Two things going forward that would help:

1) the UI and navigation needs tightening. So many menus that have overlapping functionality, layout as a whole not the most intuitive. Guess it will improve with server side updates.

2) With all the additional games we now have on our consoles, some of them leaving the sub service on different dates, some unplayed, some owned, some not, etc etc, we really need Sony to give us that magic word - FOLDERS. Hoping this will come in the next feature update firmware because it would be a big help.

Overall though, I'm pretty happy and although it's too early to say what I'll do when my sub finally expires in a few years time, I'd probably stick with Extra. For anyone new to Playstation or those on tight budgets, it's a no-brainer.

Thanks to Extra and my existing backlog, I don't even need to look at sales anytime soon.

One thing that having all these additional games downloaded has reminded me of:

@Shepherd_Tallon I think you go to the three dots top right and down to account or membership iirc.

@starnivore it's only the base game of Graveyard Keeper on PS+ and at least one of the subsequently released DLCs is pretty essential and transformative, but it's a good way for people to see if the game is for them.

@rjc-32 yes it's quite something that due to frame pacing issues, the PAL games are going to be even worse than they were originally 🤣

@Valgore Stray is a third party release coming to it on day one so that's a decent start imo.

@B80 at the moment, best way to save is to get the PSN credit itself as cheap as you can and do it that way.

@add286 So your logic goes: because people got what were unquestionably worse PAL versions 25+ years ago, they should be fine playing them now, even when the tech renders it unnecessary. Got it.

In any case, it seems as though this is moot because Sony are already caving on it. And double moot for me because I have no interest in replaying stuff from that long ago - I just inherited four years of Premium thanks to the PS Now loophole. Extra is my go to for this device and I'm loving it!

@add286 I was there, and I can tell you that PAL was so crap compared to NTSC that I imported a Japanese PS1 to avoid dealing with it. So yeah, it was just as bad back then.

@billynotsilly bought my SN850 about three months ago, and touch wood haven't had any issues with it since installation. PS5 recognised it, formatted it, speed tested it and it all went smoothly. Can only think you might have a dodgy one might be worth exchanging it if it's possible.

@starnivore Graveyard Keeper is on console too. It's even on the new PS+ Extra.

@get2sammyb for someone who's never had Gamepass or anything like it. It's pretty overwhelming. Mostly in a good way, although I predict many more unfinished and barely played games ahead for me!

@Grumblevolcano not into the retro stuff myself so not directly affected, but sucks that they've lumbered UK with the crappy PAL versions! Makes no sense either with today's TVs.

I don't usually leave my PS5 in rest mode, but it's gonna be a busy machine tonight while I sleep - queued up a load of stuff off Extra. Glad I bought that SN850 now 👍

For day one, I think Sony have done a decent job. Enjoy, everyone.

Evil Genius 2 seems to be missing for us - was present for US catalogue.

That apart, I'm a bit overwhelmed and that's with having a backlog before I even looked at this. I think they've done a decent job here. Not interested in retro, but shame if people are lumbered with the PAl versions.

It'll probably end up on ps+ extra, but been waiting for Chicory to go on a decent sale for ages and £6.50 is good enough for me. It doesn't appear to have even been on Gamepass so probably not going to be 'free' any time soon.

Other than that, I'll content myself with the new PS+ until F1 manager 2022 in August.

I got bored of this one sooner than any of the previous games. It was, for me, a rare day one purchase too.

@albertodsd I don't think they'll announce very far in advance - they don't want the FOMO of any potential subscribers tempered by knowing game 'X' isn't being removed any time soon.

Probably just get a couple weeks notice like the 'leaving Game Pass this month' announcements.

I don't remember seeing Evil Genius 2 on the Asia lists - definitely looking forward to that one.

More interested in the upcoming F1 Manager game this year.

It reinforces my belief that Pushsquare is an outlier - sadly, it's all too often an angry, negative echo chamber regarding PS+ games, digital pricing, Sony failing Vs Microsoft and Gamepass etc

Meanwhile, the vast majority of gamers carry on enjoying their hobby, happy and entirely satisfied. (I'm one of them!) 😃👍

@IAmAshCohen17 Yeah good idea, I'm a big GT fan right across all the generations so it was a rare day one buy for me on PS5, but soon realised it wasn't worth what I paid for it (£56) and tbh it hasn't even been loaded up recently.

I already have GT7, HFW I'm really not bothered with until it comes to Premium, however long that takes.

I won't be buying hardly anything in light of the new PS Premium. For however much some people here knock it (staff and readers) I think it's fine, and combined with my existing backlog and the monthly PS Essential games, I don't need to buy stuff at even these kinds of prices anymore.

Maybe one or two games a generation exceptions, but otherwise, nope.

So long as it's fun to play, it's fine with me.

To contrast, Red Dead Redemption 2 was a technical marvel but a monumental bore.

@Th3solution Best help for my backlog would be for Sony to roll out folders in the next big PS5 firmware.

Chuck the unplayed in one, the never want to play again in another, currently playing in a third etc. Have really missed that on PS5.

So many people who clearly aren't the target market for this (for example, they spend a fortune buying every big release day 1, they have Gamepass, perhaps big pc libraries, or old consoles/emulators for retro) calling it crap is hilarious.

Guess what? There are LOADS of us who are going to do very nicely out of it, both from a gaming point of view, and a financial one!

@Cikajovazmaj Most outlets are positive, but yeah there are a few who are making themselves look very silly by slating it.

I read one that wrote along the lines of 'with only Ghosts of Tsushima, Spiderman, Returnal, Demons Souls, AC Valhalla and Guardians of the Galaxy plus a few others, this already looks like a failure for Sony'

I actually lol'ed because it was so ridiculous.

@supergurr as you said, it's a partial list. I'm already happy with what's been revealed so I'm good whatever, but you really need to wait and see the complete library I think.

@BartoxTharglod Yeah that is a very odd statement isn't it (but perhaps to be expected from Pushsquare recently) because for anyone new to PS or Xbox this would be a no-brainer recommendation over Gamepass from my perspective.

Heck, I have a chunk of those announced games (including a barely touched Death Stranding and Miles Morales - yay backlogs) but even for myself I'd take this over GP any day, and that's only what's been announced so far.

Sony have come through, and deserve credit rather than sniping!

@Ooccoo_Jr yeah, Extra seems the sweet spot for me too. I've got Premium via the upgrade but when it does run out (2026) I'll drop to Extra.

I think it's a decent list. Wasn't expecting the likes of GoT Directors Cut, Demon's Souls or AC Valhalla.

And alongside Returnal, Death Stranding, Spiderman and the complete set of Uncharted games I don't know how anyone can really knock it unless they're just being stupid about it. And it's not even the full list.

OK, so Sony have cheaped out on a few games - not giving Spiderman Remastered for PS5 is a shame as it's the best of the series. And stuff like Cities Skylines, Dead Cells will doubtless be the base versions without all the lovely (almost essential in many cases) dlc. But overall I'm very content with this 👍

Pushsquare is 100% the most negative platform-exclusive site out there. And it's a shame. Why stir up and make your own readership angry/sad/bitter.

lol some of us don't give a fig about physical - I wouldn't use discs whatever the price, so arguments based on that are dead to me.

Convenience trumps disc swapping every time - guess I'm glad I'm not poor enough to worry about disc prices and trade-ins.

Graveyard Keeper Ultimate edition is £19. And even if that game goes on PS+, they'll just put the base version on, and you really need the dlc for this one.

@zhoont apparently not.

I agree with @jgrangervikings1 though - the controlling multiple characters angle becomes annoying quite quickly and I never felt the connection you get when you have your own character.

Looks great but it's more frustrating than anything, really. 8/10 is being very generous, even during this game drought.

Royal is amazing, big improvement over original.

Did I make it to the end? Did I *****! Game is so long, and I was fatigued before I got near the end. Didn't reduce my enjoyment while I was playing though.

Thank goodness. More of this strategy please.
