Re: Access a Huge Vault of PS5, PS4 Games for £3.99/$4.99 with EA Play

redcorpuscle

@Kopite they cost even less than £60 on digital unless you're dumb enough to not buy discounted credit.

If you use the right outlets you can save up to 20%, so that £70 game becomes £56 (paid that for my GT7 pre-order)

But back on topic, if I bought this I'd only play ME and It Takes Two, and with my current backlog I just cba with it!

Re: These Are Dying Light 2's Graphical Options on PS5

redcorpuscle

@Nightcrawler71 Just too much power needed for that this gen.

Look on the bright side... we now have pretty much guaranteed 60fps on PS5, combined with more detail, higher base resolutions and decent upscaling solutions. All with fast loading.

PS6 will get there

Re: We're Sure Everyone Will Be Calm About SEGA NFT Trademark

redcorpuscle

As someone who's made a significant sum of money from blockchain, specifically bitcoin, by acquiring a number of coins years ago when smart people liked to mock and deride it, and selling small portions of it at ever higher prices ever since, I witness the same anger towards NFTs.

Everyone criticising them, knowing what they know now with regards to price appreciation and market adoption, would quite happily go back a year or two and buy some apes or similar at the price they were then.

They're quite pointless imo, same as I think bitcoin is pointless actually, but let's not kid ourselves - a lot of the faux rage is borne out of good old human bitterness and jealousy.

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Realistically Expect from PS5, PS4's Game Pass Inspired PS Plus Reboot?

redcorpuscle

First party PS4/PS5 games after a certain period (a year...perhaps even nine months) for the top tier would definitely interest me...I rarely buy day one anyway, but the option is still there for those who can't wait or don't want to subscribe, and the value is there for those who can.

But maybe more realistic is an expanded now with more recent or even new third party games included. Would be tempted if the price is right.

Re: PS5 Hardware Has Second Biggest Month in UK on Back of 28% Bounce

@Th3solution for me, going multiconsole is less about the quantity of games exceeding available time (I too have plenty of to-be-played stuff on PS4/5) and more about removing a barrier of access and potential frustration regarding platform specific titles now and further into the gen.

I also agree with an earlier point about Gamepass saving money on enough AA and indie games to go towards the occasional PS exclusive.

Re: PS Store January Sale Refresh Adds More PS5, PS4 Discounts

redcorpuscle

@Titntin I know...I don't get it either.

Gaming is not like food or household bills - it's a hobby, and not a particularly cheap one, but no-one is forcing anyone to buy anything. From the comments on here and similar articles, you'd almost not think that was the case.

Same with the weird hatred for digital, and those who buy it. Why get upset over something that doesn't affect your life at all??!! Plenty of us prefer digital, and are perfectly fine paying whatever we choose to pay in sales, with cheap credit, or at full price, but most of us don't rush to articles proclaiming how much we hate discs!

Very funny tbh, and in both haha and peculiar.

Re: PS Plus Games for January 2022 Are Available to Download Now

redcorpuscle

Gave Dirt 5 a chance but even on PS5 I was bored after an hour.

Graphics are nice but it's all a bit meh and the vibration on the dualsense is piss poor - sounds like someone has put a buzzer in the controller. Triggers not so bad though.

I like racing games but this disappointed as much as any other numbered dirt game has. Will stick to NFS hot pursuit, GT Sport and Dirt Rally 2.0

Oh, and don't get me started on the truly embarrassing 'bro banter' in the voiceovers. Haven't we left this cringeworthy stuff behind yet?!

Perfect Plus game though tbh, cash saved and curiosity satisfied.

Re: Best PS5 SSD 2022: Boost Your PS5 Storage Capacity

redcorpuscle

@themightyant £125 for 1TB (£105 for an SSD and max of £20 for that lovely Sabrent heatsink) is not that bad and about the most I'd pay if/when I need that extra space.

May well set up an alert on HotUKDeals as you suggest. Using an external SSD and keeping less games at once on the internal drive is the less lazy and more economical option for all of us though at this stage of the gen!

Re: Game of the Year: Robert's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2021

redcorpuscle

OK....due to the relentless praise on this (and other) pages for Disco Elysium Final Cut, along with more than a little curiosity to try something different, I finally gave in and purchased it for £17 thanks to the PSN sale combined with discounted credit.

Can finally take it off the wishlist

Re: Game of the Year: Stuart's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2021

@Dr-M Yes! You'll get all the extra content and improvements made to it over 10+ years.

BoI is not so much complex as obtuse, especially when new to it all. It may seem very basic and crude, hard to play, and confusing, all at the same time. Initially you might wonder what all the fuss is about. But experience and/or online guides are your friend, depending how much or how little information you want.

I still occasionally have to look up what an item or pill does because there's so damn many.

BoI is my second most played game ever, second only to Stardew Valley. And with Repentance and the time I'm putting in I'm pretty sure those two will flip around sooner or later.

Re: Game of the Year: Stuart's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2021

redcorpuscle

After not playing BoI much since Afterbirth dlc (didn't buy ab+ as read enough bad things to put me off) I bought Repentance and it's hooked me hard again!

I'm not by any means good enough to understand the intricacies of how all the changes have affected the game as a whole, but I do know I'm loving it to the extent that even newly acquired stuff such as Ghost of Tsushima on the PS5 is being left unplayed.

Rare game imo that is enjoyable, endlessly replayable and addictive whatever level you're at.

Re: PS5 Upgrade for Final Fantasy VII Remake Now Available with PS Plus

redcorpuscle

@B_Lindz No, I finally sorted it thanks to some advice earlier in the comments from @Ward_ting - it's a real weird way you have to go to get it! Could only do it from the PS5 itself in my case. Sony sure haven't made it user friendly:

Download the PS+ version if you don't already have it.

Go to the three dots by the game on your PS5, select 'View Product'

On the next page, go to the three dots again and select 'Final Fantasy VII Remake upgrade for PS4 owners'

On the next page go to the three dots one more time and you'll see 'Game' twice with a tick on the top one - that's the PS4 version. Select the bottom one (which is the PS5 version) and the 'add to library' and 'download' boxes will FINALLY appear. Then you can download the PS5 version and you get the 'choose version' option on the dashboard then too.

This was the only way I could get it to work - couldn't do it via the mobile app or the store directly in my case.
