As a complete newbie in terms of Souls, I made two important lessons early on in BB: 1.Don't worry about the axe-fella hiding in an alley until later, just leave him be; and 2. running past enemies is a very viable option.
I gave both Heavy Raina and Two Souls a go last year and thought they were terrible. Cage does not have a clue about how to write believable characters and too much of the stories feels contrived. Credit for helping promote the interactive story genre, and I would normally root for the "small" studio – but I am not at all impressed by their response to the current allegations.
Definitely PR speak, but part of that is also taking into account the current market reality, which is that MTX etc. is extremely unpopular. He won't change his ways out of the good of his heart, but in lieu of earnings? Sure, I can believe that.
I decided to give Injustice 2 a go (Tekken having always been my fighting game of choice), and it was surprisingly good. Some of the actual melee animations are a bit stiff, and the character design is extremely hammy. But levelling, depth and environments make up for it. A pleasant surprise. (Easy to agree with the rest of the list).
I didn't Like Unfinished Swan at all, but What Remains is currently my favourite for 2017! Fantastic. Haven't tried Pyre (probably because I enjoyed but was also somewhat disappointed in both Bastion and Transistor), but otherwise agree with this list.
I am a big LC fan, but as others have the said, the writing has been pretty bad. Rise was pretty much a rehash of all the first game's storybeats. And Lara turning increasingly in to Daddy's Little Girl – urgh. So here's hoping there's some improvements on that front.
I only came in after Unity was patched, and IMO it is far better than Syndicate with its flat characters, flashy but brainless fights and mediocore story (on par with Unity, to be fair). But I look forward to Origins.
Glad to hear it. Don't know when I'll have the time to play this, but I will definitely spend some money on it just to support their effort and ideas in terms of subject matter and games publishing.
@Wesker Spot on. Except, I do hope the side missions will be more worthwhile this time around. But my first meeting with AC was Black Flag, and it was great, in large part because all the extra "content" seemed too opaque to bother with so I just focused on the story (and sinking some ships).

Re: PS4 Golden Week Sales Knock Up to 60 Per Cent Off Japanese Games
Yakuza Zero, and probably Nier (and maybe Tekken 7 and Last Guardian as well) – these have been on my wishlist for a while. Wuhu!
Re: God of War Details Difficulty Levels and Immersion Mode Ahead of Release
@Retro88 Yeah, God of Constantly Getting His Ass Kicked doesn't have quite the same ring to it.
Re: Acclaimed RPG Divinity: Original Sin 2 Adventures to PS4 This August
Wife is currently playing it on PC (having finished the first on PS4), and is now excited to replay it on the Playstation.
Re: Future Updates to Middle-earth: Shadow of War Will Remove Microtransactions
Skipped it on release largely because of the stupid ‘buy an orc’ system, so yeah, I might pick it up in a sale now. Mordor was dumb fun.
Re: Hands On: WipEout PSVR Will Absolutely Melt Your Mind
Just got the update and it really is that good.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 212
Finally got around to Horizon Zero Dawn – man, that is a fun game. I'll probably end up going plat.
Re: Afterparty Is a Drunken Adventure from the Makers of Oxenfree
Oxenfree easily exceeded my expectations. I am definitely up for this.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 209
Down with the flu, so I wanted something that wouldn't hurt me … so, pleasantly surprised by Rime.
Re: Sony Surveying Users on Potential PSN Name Changes
I don't think they would ask if it wasn't already decided. Good thing, too.
Re: Donnie Yen Announces Sleeping Dogs Movie Role
Oh, look, the game at a discount! [sticks it in the pile] And I'll take pretty much anything with Donnie Yen.
Re: Lengthy Atlus Survey Asks About Persona 6
For now, just P4 for PS4, please. Then, more.

Re: Ubisoft Details Assassin's Creed Origins DLC Release Dates
There are some nice pictures in the "Atlas" as well, of Sinai and Valley of Kings.

Re: What Happens When You Show Shadow of the Colossus to a Kid?
Playing this year for the first time as well. Wonder if there'll be VR, similar to Last Guardian … because that demo was really good.
Re: New Deals Join the Enormous PS4 January Sale Today
Got HZD Complete Ed.

Re: Guide: Upcoming PSVR Games in 2018
Rumour has it, L. A. Noire VR Case Files as well. I'd buy that.

Re: Game of the Year 2017: #7 - Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice
I realise I haven't played all the 2017 games I should, but of the ones I managed, this one really stood out. A great piece work from Ninja Theory.
Re: Guide: Upcoming PSVR Games in 2018
Oh, and WipEout VR?
Re: Guide: Upcoming PSVR Games in 2018
Got VR for Christmas! Nice to have even more to look forward to.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 199
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice – which is surprisingly grim, even with what I knew going in.
Re: In the Valley of Gods Is the New Game from Campo Santo
Wow. Too long to wait.

Re: Assassin's Creed Rogue HD Almost Certainly Setting Sail for PS4
Yep, that's probably a buy – if at a reasonable cost.
Re: Persona 5 Sneaks Up on 2 Million Sales Worldwide
Got it on Black Friday – now my son won't let me have the PS, he's so into it.
(Do these sales figures still not include digital?)
Re: Creative Assembly Embarks on Its Biggest Ever Multiformat Project
It's the LV 426 sim, including socialising, tricycle challenges and terraforming. Sans aliens.
Re: US PS Store Rolls Out Tons of Black Friday PS4 Deals
Persona 5, Wolfenstein, Lost Legacy and GTAV. Maybe HZD, but I think I'll be holding out for the GotY edition. Maybe AC: Origins.

I love these little games. Playing it.
Re: Rumour: Ni no Kuni II Delayed into March on PS4
Holding out for a remaster for the first game anyway.
Re: Hands On: Shadow of the Colossus, One of the All-Time Gaming Greats, Stuns on PS4
I've been pretty much out of the loop since PS1, so for me, all these remakes and remasters are very welcome.
Re: Review: Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (PS4)
Loved New Order – looking forward to this one!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 192
Just began Until Dawn, with some WipEout in between.

Re: Assassin's Creed Origins Embraces Its Fantasy Side with DLC
I have to admit … I actually quite like the look of the two DLCs.
