@themightyant Yeah I agree it's a tricky one because I can see how they need to keep the customer service actually useful and as seamless as possible for those who genuinely need it.

But I wonder, for example, should you be able to change your email or disable 2FA without further steps?

There definitely are gaping holes here which I think could (and should) feasibly be closed.

@bazchillin From PlayStation's perspective the ecosystem is their business.

The business model collapses if they aren't getting people through the door on the PS Store.

Exclusives aren't the only reason, but they do help provide a compelling entry point for their console.

Metrics are a bit different for Microsoft because their poor hardware sales, Game Pass, and the fact they bought two historically multiformat publishers.

@AdamNovice Well because… Now they’re in this situation with 800 devs, an extraction shooter no one’s playing, and a “flagship” franchise they’ve just told the world will be dead next month.

I genuinely don’t understand. Even if D3 got greenlit tomorrow — which I agree is unlikely because of how much it would cost, itself an insane thing to say — then it wouldn’t be finished until, what, 2031? 2032?

It’s madness lol.

@RBMango I think it's as simple as: the game cost a fortune to make and there's no margin for error anymore. They have to be successful.

I think one factor here is that the sequels take so long to make. I think people were more accepting of "iterative" sequels when they took two years to come out on the PS3; now you're waiting five to six years for the same results.

Don't know what the solution is; I'm not sure there is one.
