The poll results are truly melting my mind. Almost as many people want a PS6 FIVE or more years from now as they do next year.

That's freaking bonkers to me. Absolutely bonkers.

@Scottyy Just because the console exists doesn't mean you're obligated to buy it. If a superior version exists and you want to play it then clearly you're in the market for a new system more than you think.

It's like if PS5 was delayed God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West would have still come out, you just would have played them on PS4.

How is this situation any different if the PS6 gets delayed? Whatever they've got planned is still coming out and will still be cross-gen.

@Aniscape There will be no exclusives and in fact I’m of the opinion that if PS5 persists until 2030 or beyond like some have suggested it makes the probability of exclusives even less.

Assuming Sony CAN keep momentum for another four or so years (I don’t think they can) you’re looking at leaving behind ~175 million systems as opposed to the ~115 million in 2027.

@UltimateOtaku91 Kinda my point, yeah. If you don’t want it in 2027, just don’t buy it.

Obviously I appreciate Sony does have to hit a price target and if that’s just not feasible right now they’ll need to delay.

But how do we know things will improve?

@ATaco I disagree, actually. I think Arc Raiders helped popularise extraction shooters and help more "casuals" understand them.

To me this sounds like they’d almost be throwing out all the work they’ve done and pretty much starting over.

What the PS6 was going to be in 2027 will look completely different by 2029.

I understand people feel we haven’t extracted maximum value from PS5 yet but 2029 is a LONG way away.

I don’t know how they keep PS5 feeling interesting for that long. It’s going to seem pretty tired come 2029.

Speaking personally from the editor of a website’s perspective, this is kind of a nightmare haha.

You want that forward momentum of the new shiny exciting thing to keep people engaged.

2028 or 2029 seems crazy to me personally.

I really love how it looks. Kinda reminds me of Shadow of the Beast. It has a turbocharged Amiga/Genesis flavour to it.

@LeeBB_Art They didn't specify but it's almost certainly due to the license expiring. I've added a sentence to reflect that.

@nomither6 No they didn't. Helldivers 2, Marvel Rivals, Arc Raiders, etc have all been excellent.

And long-running games like Fortnite et al have all gotten better.

I've even really enjoyed stuff that didn't find a big enough audience like Knockout City and Rumbleverse.

@PuppetMaster Yeah, while Resident Evil did of course feature, I think they probably saved the concept art and stuff from that for its own exhibition.

@somnambulance They had some cool merch but actually I didn’t end up buying anything.

There was a lot of stuff I’m assuming exclusive to the exhibition using some of the artwork.

The thing I wanted most and which you can probably get online was a big hardback book documenting all Capcom’s key art.

Unfortunately it was like 4kg and I just couldn’t transport it.

@RobN There's also an ethical issue with generative AI. It's scraping the work of others, without permission, to train itself.

Obviously what we do here at Push Square is not all that important in the grand scheme of things, but our work is also feeding the various AI models without recompense.

In fact, all your comments are contributing to it as well.

I think it will sell just fine on PS5, but I think the hype for this game has long passed — even with the improvements they have planned. It strikes me they just need to get this wrapped up and move on.

In fact many of those games are considered beloved today.

I don't see why they're not allowed to make multiplayer games anymore.

@scoobdoo Agreed, all these gachas have some of the worst writing I've ever experienced. Drives me nuts.

It's a particular shame in Honkai: Star Rail because I think they have a nice universe and overall concept.

@Boxmonkey Well, it was a 10 minute video with context, including interviews, a trailer, and gameplay.

Even though people have still freaked out, I think it was better to present it that way than maybe just a trailer in a State of Play without context.

It's unfortunate that PlayStation's fanbase is so aggressive that they feel they can't show anything that's not single player anymore, though.

And not only that, they have to caveat everything with 'WE'RE STILL MAKING SINGLE PLAYER'.

@the_everything_gamer It’s true. I don’t know how we reached a point where Sony “fans” have a meltdown every time the company announces something that’s not a third-person single player action game.

I don’t know how these people coped during the PS3 era.

Also, it looks absolutely nothing like Fortnite. What a lazy comparison.
