So excited for this game. I really loved what I played at Gamescom, and especially enjoyed the art direction. Little things like the journal really appealed to me.

Hopefully they can clean up those performance issues.

@TimeDelayedGamer Not sure if attack patterns change; I'd need to do side-by-side comparisons. But for sure attacks hit harder and I feel like shields recharge slower, so can't "tank" as many hits as you can on Easy.

@nomither6 I want the SEGA guests personally. Post-release updates is the best way to do it because there's a huge Sonic roster in here at launch, so they can market the game around that and add the other characters later.

Great review, Stephen! Super excited for this game and I think it's great to have such a quality Mario Kart alternative on PS5.

I'm really hopeful this gets a LOT of DLC support over the years; would love to see some of the more niche SEGA mascots from Racing Transformed to get added to the mix.

I don't know... The games it lists don't really look like Horizon in the same way as Light of Motiram does.

I'm not a lawyer so absolutely no idea if they can prove this in court.

@Zeke68 I think it's fine in this case. They've been iterating on this game behind-the-scenes for years. Now they're just going to continue iterating on it in public.

It's a live service game so whatever you play today will have changed quite a bit next year anyway.

This looks great, I'm interested. There's just too many games coming out this year, so I may have to wait until next year before I play it.

@UltimateOtaku91 Fiscal Year 2024 goes up to the end of March 2025, so doesn't include Helldivers 2. But yes, includes all the residuals from PC games released up to that point. (And LEGO Horizon on Switch, which to be fair wasn't a big selling game.)

@PuppetMaster Well, they should be better I suppose across all platforms.

But I think it's natural to see a decline with each entry because you're basically required to play the one before it.

I also think it'll split the sales between platforms, so while the PS5 share may decrease, the total number may not be dramatically larger.

Sony marketed the hell out of Rebirth for them, so Square Enix may have to foot the bill on that too.

But overall, more platforms should result in larger sales. Whether it's what Square Enix want remains to be seen.

The re-remake. I think streamlined makes sense personally, it's SO long. They can cut some of the fat for sure.

@LogicStrikesAgain A big problem with Destiny 2 is, while it may look cool to you, it's basically impenetrable for newcomers now.

I mean, of course you could try, but I think you're going to really struggle to understand anything at this point.

@Fartingale I think the problem with the sports games is they get replaced every year. So they probably don't have enough time to really rack up the sales.

(I know that's also true of Call of Duty, but there's still a shelf life for Modern Warfare once Black Ops comes out, etc)

@rjejr The leaked gameplay showed a third-person action game. I'd expect a more violent Spider-Man.

Looking at the release calendar, I'm pretty sure this was true at a dozen developers. Not sure they're really helping themselves dropping everything at the same time, though.

We can only hope they've taken the feedback on board.

@PuppetMaster I'm sure a new crop of creators will emerge, but I also know what you mean. Gotta enjoy these games while these legends are still making them.

On the frame rate stuff, I think there's no real excuse for this being 30fps anyway.

I understand game development is hard etc etc and this is definitely a good looking game — but it's not SO good looking that 60fps seems impossible.
