Re: Star Wars Battlefront Free with PlayStation Plus If You're New

dkxcalibur

As a former subscriber to Gold and a current subscriber to Plus, I can honestly say that in my opinion, Gold is superior.

No one has stated the most obvious reason and that's because once you download those Gold games they are yours no matter if you have a current Gold Subscription or not. Once my subscription runs out for Plus, I'll loose access to every game I downloaded.

Re: Soapbox: Gamers Are Sleeping on Sony's E3, And That's a Good Thing

dkxcalibur

I think it's going to be an epic E3 in general. There are so many big games that were briefly shown last year that should be another year into development and that much closer to release. I'm looking forward to the big 3's press conference/presentations. They are all in completely different positions. Sony seems to have the most games to show updates for and some of those are huge games. Nintendo with the recent release of the Switch must show that games are coming to support their good sales. Microsoft needs to get back in the game! I feel that Microsoft is going to surprise everyone. I think people are sleeping on them.

Re: Opinion: Why Sony Is Zagging While the Industry Zigs

dkxcalibur

I've always approached DLC with an open mind. Sometimes we're clearly getting ripped off and the content is stuff that should have been in the game. Other times, it's clearly new content and it's worth every single penny. In fact, DLC isn't always at a cost to the consumer. The last two Monster Hunter titles on the 3DS offered free content every single month at no cost.

Re: May 2017 PlayStation Plus Games Announced

Great games for both sides. I would have been happy with either game. I never heard of Aliennation but after taking a look at it, it looks really cool. I'll settle for ABZU and maybe pickup Aliennation at a later date.

Re: Everybody's Golf Ditches Hot Shots Moniker for Western Release

dkxcalibur

I think that the new character designs are atrocious and the new name is uninspired. It makes the entire series sound and look like a shovelware game for the Wii!

However, I have great memories of playing Hot Shots Golf 3 with my friends and family on the PS2. One of the best features was the characters. Also, I really enjoyed how you could talk trash on your opponents while they were mid-swing.

....but the courses look beautiful!

Re: Hundreds of PS4 Games Are Discounted in EU Easter Sale

dkxcalibur

@rjejr I'm hoping for a big sale in the NA too. Like you, I'm new to the PS4 party too and there are many games that I missed out on that I would like to own. If NA does get a similar sale, I hope it's not like the "essentials" sale which both NA and EU had. In that sale, NA was clearly missing a lot of games that EU had on sale.

Re: Review: PaRappa the Rapper Remastered (PS4)

dkxcalibur

I never saw the appeal back in the PS days but I gave the demo a try back in January because of the hype I heard about this game. My first impression was, "this is a remastered game?". I kind of thought I mistakenly downloaded the demo for the original.

My second impression was that the demo level of the diner/restaurant was not that fun. I knew it was a rhythm game but I didn't know the game play was that basic. It honestly reminded me of a flash game my sons would play when they were toddlers.

While the music that I've heard is very catchy and charming, I will skip this game with no afterthought. I will only give this game another try if it's free through Playstation Plus someday. I apologize if I sound too harsh to fans, and I appreciate the fact that they are releasing this for fans of the original.....but this is clearly not for me.

Re: April PlayStation Plus Games Revealed

dkxcalibur

@GlynCR I tend to play online in chunks. I'll play a particular game online for a week or two and then not touch it for a couple weeks. I was playing FIFA 17 & Battleborn but I'm finally playing through all the Uncharted games since I never owned a PS4 until recently.

Re: Japanese Sales Charts: Monster Hunter Makes a Peach Beach Splash

dkxcalibur

I believe Capcom has already said that the games that use the current graphic engine are done, meaning that a new and improved one is already on the way. Now whether that's on a Sony or Nintendo system or both, who knows besides Capcom. All I know is that I'm covered. I have the PS4, Wii U, & "New" 3DS; and at some point within the year, I'll buy the Switch.

All I know, is that the MH series on the 3DS is one of my current favorite series on all consoles. There's a learning curve that you must get over first but once you do, the series gives back sooooo much.

Re: The Disney Afternoon Collection Brings Childhood Classics to PS4

dkxcalibur

The name is fitting since that's what they called the block of cartoons that played every weekday that these games were based off of. Every single one of those games was fun to play. Although I never played the Darkwing Duck game or the NES version of Tailspin. I owned the TG16 version of Tailspin but that was a platformer, not a side scrolling shooter. Looking forward to playing these again.

Re: Review: Disc Jam (PS4)

dkxcalibur

I've had fun playing so far. I have issues with my thumb accidentally slipping and hitting the "Playstation button" and jumping me out to the console home screen. That sucks when you're in a heated match online.

Re: PS4 Is Still the UK's Biggest Ever Console Launch

dkxcalibur

@ShogunRok I looked for a Switch "casually" on Friday night and I couldn't find one. My younger brother who lives in a more rural area about 3+ hours south of me in another state, couldn't find one either. He looked all weekend.

I think they should have sent more to the US!

Re: Poll: Will Your PS4 Gather Dust Now the Nintendo Switch Is Out?

dkxcalibur

@stevie85 I just recently got a PS4, but prior to that, our primary console was a Wii U. We have absolutely no regrets buying that system and I don't feel that there were any time when I personally said, "there are no games to play". Yes, maybe there was physically less games, but I feel that some of those games IMO, had a longer playability for me then what I own so far for my PS4. But this is also personal taste I feel. Honestly, if I had no responsibilities and unlimited money, then I would own every system! But I don't so it doesn't make sense for me.

On the topic of the Switch though, I'm leaning towards waiting till this fall to pick one up.

Re: Poll: Are You Buying Horizon: Zero Dawn?

dkxcalibur

I almost preordered this the other day but held off. I'm on the fence about the Switch and there are so many PS4 games that I've yet to play that I can buy at a fraction of the cost of Horizion. However, this game looks terrific. I can't wait to play it at some point.

Re: Review: For Honor (PS4)

dkxcalibur

After playing the beta a couple weekends ago, I honestly felt it was like a lot of Ubisoft games....a rental or "wait for sale" game! It was really fun learning the fighting system at first but it grew repetitive to me by the end of the weekend.

Re: Which PS4 Exclusive Is Zelda Producer Eiji Aonuma a Big Fan Of?

dkxcalibur

While playing through The Last Guardian, I couldn't help but think that I wish it was on a Nintendo system. The graphics would have been worst, but they would have fixed the horrible camera & control issues that I experienced while playing through the game. Oh well, it was memorable and I couldn't put it down once I started it.....I just wanted to spike my controller into the floor on multiple occasions because the issues I had.

Re: Review: Horizon: Zero Dawn (PS4)

dkxcalibur

I thought that after reading the review about this game, I would be able to say "buy" or "wait" but I still can't decide. There are so many games I've yet to play on the PS4 and I'm still on the fence about the Switch.

....I'll probably hold off on both and play through the lengthy backlog.

Re: For Honor's Single Player Campaign Lasts Around 6 Hours

dkxcalibur

I took part in the Beta this past weekend and while I won't come out say that it's bad, I also don't think it's that great either. In my opinion, I found it very unbalanced and very repetitive....but I thought it was a unique take on online multiplayer.

I don't think the 5-6 hour campaign would be an issue if the general gameplay and multiplayer was better. In the past, I've logged many hours of COD because the online multiplayer was fun in spite of the short the single player was. I gave this Beta a good try on Friday & Saturday but come Sunday I was done.
