Re: Hands On: Monster Hunter: World Is Already a Game of the Year Candidate

dkxcalibur

This game looks great. I love the series. I think it's going to be really good.......but I'm still wishing that the series stayed with Nintendo. I've always preferred playing Monster Hunter on the go. I was always able to find time to play it. Dedicating time to sitting in front of my TV at home will be difficult.

However, there are some definite positives to playing on the PS4. The most obvious has already been talked about, but the feature that hasn't been talked about is the simple fact that you can easily talk to your team while hunting! No more simple built in messages. A simple, "hey guys, there's a Rathalos over near the water fall" in the mic will easily get the job done. It will also be nice to remind people to not attach while a teammate is initiating a rodeo attack. Communication will be great!

Re: Nintendo Switch Not Affecting PS4's Sales, Says Sony

dkxcalibur

I personally think this is a stupid article. I think the PS4 base is so much larger at this point that any success the Switch is seeing will have no effect on the PS4. What are we expecting to see? Are we expecting Sony to say, "well the Nintendo Switch is currently out selling our system....I guess we should totally stop making games for it even though 60 million people own our system? On the same note, do you think Nintendo cares that the PS4 install base is as big as it is? This entire, video game company battle is dated. Articles like these make me feel like I'm back in the 80's or 90's.

Each gamer has his/her preference and that's what it's all about. I personally think that Microsoft has the best online experience and community, and the new ability to play some games on the PC, but the Nintendo Switch's portability and first party games are the best, while Sony has balance; and by balance I mean awesome first party titles, great support from third party developers, great indie titles/library, and descent online. It also helps that the PS4 had a "HUGE" library of awesome games....and stuff for every type of gamer. If I had time and money, I would own all three and play the best from all three!

Re: Review: Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite (PS4)

dkxcalibur

I've always swayed to the Capcom side when it comes to fighting games (except for maybe the NeoGeo fighters and Soulcalibur), but I've also always felt that the games weren't worth the full price they charge.

Re: First PS4 Pro and Xbox One X Comparison Fares Unfavourably

dkxcalibur

I'll be honest, you can see a difference but it's not that big of a difference. But that's where we are with the gaming industry. It's always that battle. I hope the Xbox 1 S, or whatever it's called now sells. I really do. It's good for the industry to have all three killing it.

As for me and my family, we've always been Nintendo first and then support it with either Sony or Microsoft (or NEC/Panisonic/Sega back in the day). We finally were able to pick up a Switch about a month ago and that's all we've been playing. I may have touched the PS4 2 times in that time period and my sons might have played the PS4 once. However, I have not regretted my PS4 purchase. I've got to play some great titles that I missed out on the PS3 and there are some real gems on the horizon.

I will admit that Forza will be terrific on the new Xbox though. Easily the best racing simulator on the market and racing games are where you show off your console's power. I don't doubt for a minute that it won't be better than GT, but that's just my opinion.

Re: PS4 Is the Best Place for Sports, Claims New Commercial

dkxcalibur

I think they have a good case about the PS4 being the best place for sports games.

I'm not sure about it being the best for children though. My sons have not touched our PS4 since we got a Fire Stick and a Switch. Actually, I almost forgot that my oldest son and I played FIFA about two weeks ago while my youngest was hogging the Switch. In all seriousness, we loved (one of my favorite games on the PS4) Ratchet and Clank but that's a reboot that came out 16 months ago. The only other two games that I think my kids would even give the time of day to would be the golf game and Crash. I'm thinking that they would play the golf game for about 2 weeks and be done with it. I think we'll look to pick Crash up when it goes on sale.

Re: Poll: Should Sony Allow EA Access on PS4?

dkxcalibur

I really enjoy EA's games. I have especially liked FIFA this past year and I'm planning on picking it up again when 18 is released.

I've been wanting to pickup both Battlefront and Titanfall too.

....but I voted "no" despite the subscription having some decent value at the current moment. I guess I'm fearing the unknown or the possibility of a company who basically created the "every year iteration" of games corrupting their own subscription. It starts out great but eventually you need their subscription to fully enjoy games that you purchased. Like, you buy the new Star Wars game but in order to play these 4 maps you need our EA Access Subscription; or you can play these 3 modes with Playstation Plus, but you need EA Access to play this new mode; or Star Wars comes out in November for EA Access members to buy but it won't come out to everyone else until April. Now I just used Star Wars as an example and none of the stuff I said has been announced but that's what I fear I guess.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on the PlayStation Plus Price Increase?

dkxcalibur

Wow, I keep seeing the "blame Microsoft" for the online service fees comments. Blame them for beating Sony to the punch? I find it hard to believe that Sony didn't already think about it before Microsoft actually did it. This just seems like a petty argument. Plus, didn't Sega kind of do this before both with the cable thing?

Uh oh! I just mentioned Microsoft!

Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on the PlayStation Plus Price Increase?

dkxcalibur

@sketchturner I think this is a brilliant idea. Nintendo once did something kind of similar with digital downloads on the Wii U. I thought it was awesome and purchased games that I would have not purchased otherwise. It would also combat what stores and Amazon are already doing. I would also consider upping my membership again too.

But I'm doubtful we'll see any changes or additional content for the price increase.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on the PlayStation Plus Price Increase?

dkxcalibur

This does not affect me but I already came to the conclusion that I will not be renewing my membership once it runs out. I don't really play the free games that I download and most of the games I play on the PS4 I play for the single player experiences. In fact, the only time we utilize online features is on FIFA or MLB.

If Sony hikes the price up in the US, I wouldn't even think about renewing again.

Re: Feature: All the E3 2017 Press Conferences Rated and Reviewed

dkxcalibur

You should have included both Nintendo and Xbox; and made it into a poll. That would have been awesome!

Also, an overall grade for E3 in general would have been cool too.

EA=D (but Anthem looks cool)
Ubisoft=B (variety!)
Bethesda=C- (maybe nothing new but their presentation was cool and the games look good)
Xbox=C+ (may have lacked exclusive games, but they did announce a new system and their show was good)
Sony=B- (show was boring and had audio issues, but had the most games that I want to play)
Nintendo=C+ (Don't mind the "direct", had best game of show in Mario Odyssey, but I'm not getting excited for their 2 big games when they can't even show art, trailer, or short clip.....the games title and/or director saying it's in the works is not cool.
E3=D (one of my least favorite E3 cons in a long time. It lacked the big surprises and announcements.)

Re: E3 2017: Want Crash Team Racing? Buy N. Sane Trilogy

dkxcalibur

@booshy89 Good call on the value. I can appreciate that!

I just remember back in the mid/late 90's playing Crash at a friend's house after they said how great it was, only to play it and feel that it wasn't that great. Maybe I'll give this a second try. I now have two sons and the youngest may like it.

Re: E3 2017: Want Crash Team Racing? Buy N. Sane Trilogy

dkxcalibur

This may be true but I've also seen it go the other way many times. A company makes a promise based on sales, it does well, and we still don't see the promises.

I'm not buying Crash. I thought it was a mediocre game back in the day and it doesn't look improved enough to warrant the price IMO.

Re: Talking Point: Is PSX Now More Important to Sony Than E3?

dkxcalibur

I think they're both important. I feel like in recent years they set stuff up at E3 and then show more at Experience. I feel like this year at E3 we got a new trailer for God of War and I'm predicting that at experience this December we'll get a firm date and a good 5-10 minutes of gameplay. Same with Spiderman.

Re: Talking Point: Did Sony PlayStation's E3 2017 Press Conference Crush the Competition?

dkxcalibur

I don't know why I'm even doing this...but here we go.

As far as games go, and that's what it's ultimately about, yes Playstation has more games that I want to play than Xbox. Also, if playstation snapped Monster Hunter away from Nintendo then that's another win for their system. I know Nintendo is also getting another Monster Hunter but it's more of a compilation than a new iteration of the series.

As for actual shows, I thought Xbox's show was better as far as entertainment goes. Also, Xbox's show had no technical hiccups like the Playstation's did with the poor audio for the first 12 minutes of the show. The Nintendo Direct has not run yet. We'll see if they can steal E3.

Re: Reaction: Sony Fails to Score an E3 Hattrick, But Still Brings the Best Games

dkxcalibur

I thought it was a good show as far as games go. I want to play most of them and personally I thought the quantity was fine.

There were not many surprises though. Most of the games they showed, they showed at one and/or multiple shows in the past. Yes, Shadow of the Colossus was a nice surprise, but it's another HD remake. The best surprise for me was the announcement of Monster Hunter World. But after those two, there weren't many others that I cared for.

As for Shadow of the Colossus, I hope they don't plan on selling it for $60. Even though I bought it day one on the PS2 and enjoyed it, it's not a very lengthy game and the replay factor is kind of low IMO. I am very excited to see how good they can make it look though. Also, I hope they fix the controls too. That would be nice.

Re: Reaction: Xbox Is Still Two Steps Behind PlayStation

dkxcalibur

@dark_knightmare2 I guess we're different. I only own the PS4, many 3DS systems, and a Wii U at the moment but I know I'll pick a Switch up at some point. I'll probably not get a X1 because I can't justify buying it. However, if I had more time and money, I would definitely own an X1 too. I have to admit that I did not watch the Microsoft presentation yet, but the last time I saw a clip for the Rare Pirate game, it looked really good. Plus, I've always thought the Gears of War games have been excellent ; and the Forza games are the best in console racing games.

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think of Bethesda's E3 2017 Press Conference?

dkxcalibur

I never really got into the Wolfestein games before, but the trailer for the new one looks awesome. That comes out on my birthday! It kind of looked and reminds me Bioshock in a way. Not necessarily the gameplay but the atmosphere of the game. The VR games looked cool but I don't have VR and I'm not really planning on shelling out the money to get it either. I never played Dishonored but it looks cool. I thought the presentation had a cool feel to it with the amusement park theme and the opening video.

Re: Reaction: Xbox Is Still Two Steps Behind PlayStation

dkxcalibur

@get2sammyb No I get it, "it's just video games".....that's kind of the point I was trying to get at.

I guess I've grown board with the discussion at this point. I've been playing video games for a very long time and every generation has the "which system is better discussion". Personally, I'm done with it.
