Re: The Skylanders Series Will Live to See Another Day

dkxcalibur

My kids play these games too, I don't think they're horrible by any means. I feel there's a bit of over-saturation though. Maybe Activision finally figured out that pumping out games from their franchises every single calendar year is actually a bad thing. They've managed to turn all of their big franchises into dust because of greed.

I'll call it now, in two holidays we'll see a reboot of the series. I don't know if it'll do the figure thing anymore but the characters are really cool and they've built up an army!

Re: Feature: The Best Games on PS4 - Winter 2017 Edition

dkxcalibur

Well I just jumped back into the Playstation world after a hiatus after the PS2. I have only played 3 games to this day (FIFA 17, Ratchet and Clank, and The Last Guardian - I also own Uncharted 4 & I just picked up Battleborn for $10 brand new; but I've yet to play either of them). In my honest opinion of the 3 that I played, I think I enjoyed Ratchet and Clank way more then The Last Guardian. I think if the horrendous camera and controls were fixed in TLG, I might have picked that game instead but I can't get over how bad they were.

Re: Sony's First-Party Lineup Is the Most Impressive Right Now

dkxcalibur

@johncalmc

Wii U: 3D World, Kart 8, Smash, Tropical Freeze, Splatoon, Bayonetta 2, Mario Maker Switch: Zelda, Mario, Splatoon 2

Xbox One: Gears 4, Halo Wars 2, FORZA!, Sea of Thieves, Sunset Overdrive, Killer Instinct, Quantum Break

PS4: I don't think I need to point out the great games on a PS4 website.

You guys get the point though. Can't we give up the ghost on this topic?

Re: GameStop May Be Lying to You About New Games

dkxcalibur

My first thought was that this wouldn't be that bad if the price of used games was fair. For most games, there's only a $1 difference between used and new games. If it's only a $1, I'll always want the new copy instead of someone else's copy complete with "bite mark in case" or scratches. However, I don't get when people whine about how much credit they receive when they trade games in there. If you don't like the price they give you, or the eventual sale price of the game compared to what you got, don't trade your games in! I'm happy I have the option to trade in games I don't play anymore. I'm not a collector and at some point enough is enough when it comes to owning stuff. But this is also why I kind of prefer downloading games now.

Now my second thought was that these are some very low tactics.....but welcome to Corporate America....I mean, Corporate World! This isn't the first time a corporation has pulled a stunt like this and it won't be the last. All they care about are the numbers, employees mean absolutely nothing.....in fact, you as an employee are just a number.

Re: The Last Guardian Is Now More Affordable in USA

@rjejr I own both TLG and R&C. TLG was the first game I finished on the PS4. TLG has a lot of character, the story provides a lot of emotions, and the interactive gameplay between Trico and "Boy" is very unique. Those three aspects make the game very enjoyable.....but I have to be honest, the camera and controls make you want to stop playing at times. I was kind of shocked at how bad the camera and controls were in this game. I guess I expected more from a 1st party game of this caliber. I kept thinking that maybe they should have worked on it a little longer!

I understand your point you were trying to make in your comparison to R&C's price point of releasing @ $40. In all honesty, I feel that R&C is waaaaay more polished then TLG. I think the new $39.99 price tag is okay, but I would wait until it hits the $19.99 price point.

Re: PS4 Pro Is a 'Half-Assed Upgrade' Compared to Scorpio, Says Xbox Dev

@Rafie @RustyBullet The Last Guardian was a system seller for me. It was the first PS4 game I beat. Unfortunately I couldn't help but think that some parts of the game were awesome, and others were garbage. The emotions, story, world, and unique gameplay aspects were some of the best I've played over the last couple years, but the controls and camera made me want to quit playing at time. The controls and camera were so bad! I thought the graphics were fine. They were not PS2 graphics, but nowhere near the best on the PS4 either. It is a very memorable game though.

Now, back to the topic at hand; I think there are plenty of good exclusives on the Xbone too. Not as many as PS4, or even the Wii U, but enough to justify a purchase. I don't own the Xbone but I would love to play any of the Forza titles (best racing sim, period), Gears 4, Sunset Overdrive, Ori, Quantum Break, KI, & Rare Replay. Also, the upcoming games Cup Head, Halo Wars 2, and Sea of Thieves look promising too. I didn't say Halo 5 or Crackdown 3 because I've never really liked either of those series. Back in November I started looking at buying a second system to compliment my Nintendo systems and thought very hard about it. The last Sony system I owned, the PS2, left a sour taste in my mouth despite providing me with great gaming memories. I went through 2 systems because they each broke. I owned the Xbox 360 and loved it. The games were a blast and the community/Xbox Live were really good. I actually know more people locally with the Xbone then a PS4 too. But ultimately I went by the games I want to play....and not quantity either. I basically came to the conclusion that The Last Guardian, Spiderman, and Horizion looked more appealing to me at the moment then Forza, Gears 4, and Sea of Thieves. If I had more time & cash, I would own all three home consoles, portables and a nice gaming PC....but I don't.

Re: Sony Gaffer Shuhei Yoshida Spotted Testing the Nintendo Switch

dkxcalibur

We're a Nintendo first family but we typically buy one of the other systems for the obvious reasons. I think the Switch has a ton of potential, I just don't think it's worth waiting in lines and buying it overpriced on Ebay to own one in March. I think we'll see that the unique tech will offer unique game experiences long term (year 2 forward). Being able to take the Switch to a party and just jump into playing games with people sounds exciting. Being able to meet somewhere with friends and do some old school multiplayer sessions in person sounds refreshing.

Someone over on nintendolife.com said it best. "The more I read about the the Switch, the more it feels like a giant micro transaction in physical form." So not everything is good. Also, the launch lineup is horrific. I'm excited to play Splatoon 2 and the new Mario game looks fantastic too, but they're both a ways off. Zelda looks cool but I can play that on the Wii U if needed. Of course I totally anticipate the next new Monster Hunter game to make it to the Switch.

Re: Micro Machines: World Series Tours PS4 in 2017

dkxcalibur

I had it on the NES and thought it was a blast. I'm hoping this one makes it to modern systems and is just as fun.

Anyone else enjoy the toys when they were younger? I had the gas tank that opened up to form a mountain playset with tunnels. Played with that thing until it fell apart.

Re: Talking Point: What Sort of Story Do You Want Out of Spider-Man PS4?

dkxcalibur

I would like to see a gritty Spiderman game where he takes on organized crime so maybe Kingpin or The Enforcers. Maybe some of the more obscure villains like The Tinkerer or Hammerhead.

If it goes with "big" villains then I want the Sinister Six for sure.

I think Venom and Carnage are both overused so I would be okay with them both not being in the game.

Re: Talking Point: Has Holiday 2016 Devalued New Games?

dkxcalibur

I can't play games fast enough any more. These days, I tend to gravitate towards games that can be played in multiple short play sessions. I have room for 1 big game at a time or I run the risk of buying games, playing them for 2-6 hours and then shelving them. I currently have my eyes on Fallout 4, The Last of Us (I just got my PS4 and never owned a PS3) and Titanfall 2, but with new copies of FIFA 17 & The Last Guardian, and Uncharted 4 which came with the system, I think I'm going to wait before buying another game. Add those to my newer 3DS and Wii U games and I struggle to give each game it's deserved playtime. Plus, there are games like Horizon that look fantastic coming out soon. That game looks like an open world Monster Hunter game!

Re: PSX 2016: Sony Boasts That the Best Games Are on PS4

dkxcalibur

I always buy a Nintendo system to play their games and then pick 1 of the other 2 systems. Last gen I went Wii & 360, this gen I'm going Wii U & PS4. I was going to hold out for the Switch.....but I'm tired of waiting. But I believe there are some awesome games for the XBone. I think the Forza series is the best video game racing series. Gears looks awesome and I've played every one up till the new one, and the new pirate game by Rare looks very interesting. Ultimately The Last Guardian pushed me off the fence and Horizon looks really good (just hope it plays good). Hopefully the PS4 holds up better then the PS2. I had to buy 3 of those because they died on me.
