Sony’s putting that new FIFA 18 deal to good use, launching a new advertising campaign that claims the PlayStation 4 is the best place for sports. To be fair, when you’ve got exclusives like MLB The Show 17 and Gran Turismo Sport in your arsenal, that’s kinda hard to argue against. The clip also includes NBA 2K18 but is missing Madden NFL 18 due to Microsoft’s partnership.
This is another example of PlayStation marketing widening the net so to speak. We’ve already seen how it’s advertising the machine at kids, and this sports commercial also has a lot of mainstream appeal. It’s smart stuff from the company, as it covets a more casual audience in search of the 100 million units milestone.

I mean I guess that is true if your sport is being represented but I have yet to see a competitive welly throwing or soggy biscuit sim on the PS4.
The best place for sports depending on if its represented by a video game and you arent going for portability or the highest visual fidelity.
Actually that doesnt roll off the tongue.
Actually @Rudy_Manchego where is my game about eSports?
I think they have a good case about the PS4 being the best place for sports games.
I'm not sure about it being the best for children though. My sons have not touched our PS4 since we got a Fire Stick and a Switch. Actually, I almost forgot that my oldest son and I played FIFA about two weeks ago while my youngest was hogging the Switch. In all seriousness, we loved (one of my favorite games on the PS4) Ratchet and Clank but that's a reboot that came out 16 months ago. The only other two games that I think my kids would even give the time of day to would be the golf game and Crash. I'm thinking that they would play the golf game for about 2 weeks and be done with it. I think we'll look to pick Crash up when it goes on sale.
The PS4 'could' be the best place for 'Sports' because it has MLB. GT Sport doesn't really count as the Xbox has its own Racing series 'Forza'. I don't know if Fifa is any different now its on PS4 but the card thing (I am not a Fifa gamer) I believe, the one thing that MS 'had' before it jumped to Sony is now universal.
From a European perspective, having the marketing rights to Fifa and the fact Sony sponsors the Champions League will give it an 'edge' over MS but to say its the 'best' for Sports is, I feel, clutching at Straws.
In the US, Madden may well be the 'bigger' franchise and so does that make MS the best place to play 'sports'? What about the PC that has games like Football Manager?
Maybe I am missing something - not that I am into 'sports' games to know, but apart from MLB, what advantages does Sony offer over the alternatives? a few marketing rights?
As I said, they may have GT Sport, but the competition has Forza - and more of those too with '7' being the 3rd Motorsport edition to launch compared to 'Driveclub and GT Sport'. Project Cars looks like the most 'accurate' racing Sim and Codemasters offer F1 and Rallying to all platforms.
@BAMozzy It's just marketing, it's not meant to be taken literally.
@adf86 When Sony, for example, said the most powerful console on the market - it was backed up by fact. Marketing nowadays cannot be accurate and honest. MS can 'for example' say they have the 'best online experience' because it was backed up by independent studies.
'For the players' for example is just a byline although now, Sony probably could use its 'user install base' to justify it if they were challenged on that. If someone were to 'challenge' that in a court of law, what could Sony use to justify that statement? As someone who doesn't really play sports games, I don't know where Sony are coming from to make that claim. Like I said, it was clear why, for the past 4 years, they could claim to have the most powerful console on the market but I don't understand why they can claim to be the 'best place for Sports' games...
