Re: Sony Is Successfully Attracting Non-PS4 Owners to PS5

cburg

I am part of this group. I bought the PS5 in August. I didn't buy anything from the last generation. But I also am lucky enough to own the Switch and a Series X. After reading the comments in this thread, I am not sure why people pump their chests when one console is in the lead over the others. Does the gratification of owning of what they perceive to be the "best" console really make people feel that better about themselves? It is just mind baffling to me. I just do not understand this logic. All three systems are great in their own ways despite sales numbers, games, etc. All three systems doing well is best for everyone because in the end we are all gamers.

If you are trying to win over regulators this is not the tactic I would use. Such sensationalism and drama in the statement. She does have a point though. With that being said, Jim Ryan is doing the exact same thing but only behind closed doors, lining the pockets of regulators, crying that COD owned by MS is a Playstation killer while raising prices of consoles, games and keeping content from all platforms including PC.

Re: Game of the Year: Best PS5, PS4 Open World Game of 2022

Elden Ring is definitely number one for me. I have to say though I am playing through Forbidden West right now. Despite an Ubisoft type open world with markers, quests, etc and a huge glut of things to explore (too much really), I just cannot put it down despite it being a grind. The graphics and music are great. I really like the game play and fighting. I even think it is better than the first one. It is a really good game that has me hooked. I do want to finish it soon as I have The Witcher 3 waiting in the wings.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing The Witcher 3's PS5 Upgrade?

cburg

I bought the complete edition about a year ago for $8.99 in the Microsoft store and I have waited for this update to come out. $8.99 is a steal!! I started playing it last night after the update came out on the Xbox. The only problem is I am in the middle of Forbidden West so I guess I will have to go back and forth between the two if I can. Looks like I am going to be tied up for awhile.

Re: All The Game Awards 2022 Winners

Elden Ring definitely deserved GOTY. It was an absolute masterpiece. I am actually playing HFW right now and I think it is much better than the first, although looking at the map and markers is quite daunting with all the undiscovered locations. It is quite Ubisoft like. With that being said, the graphics and music are absolutely phenomenal and the game is a lot of fun despite a lot of grind. I think HFW should have won something.

Re: October 2022 NPD: PS5 Stock Improvements Take Sony to the Top

@Art_Vandelay Should PS Plus go away as well? I subscribe to both Premium and Game Pass. Both are great in their own ways but there is no way that Game Pass is a cancer. There are countless interviews of developers that have praised the game pass model. I think unfortunately that you have bought into the Sony marketing hype.

Re: PS Plus Premium Members Bemused by Sony Once Again

cburg

I paid for a year up front for Premium. I should have just went with Essential. Premium really is a bad deal unfortunately. Essential on the other hand, especially for me since I haven't had a PS since the PS3 is great as I am catching up on all the games I missed. A lot of value there for me at least. I am not sure what Sony is doing at this point with Premium. It makes no sense.

Re: Soapbox: God of War Ragnarok Is a Real Game of the Year Rival to Elden Ring

cburg

I have played many open world RPG's in my life and Elden Ring to me is hands down the best game I have ever played. And I never played a souls game before. I have no doubt that GOWR will be great (I still have never played the first one but I will be playing it soon) but I cannot think of any game even coming close to what From Software has done this year in Elden Ring or many years for that matter.

Re: As Long As There's PlayStation, Call of Duty Will Release on It

cburg

@Ravix Not fair? Why? You pay $70 for games anyway from both Sony and 3rd party developers. Oh wait, it is because it is Microsoft. How dare they charge us $70 for a game because they are anti-competitive and slimy. But, I am all for Sony paying to keep games off Game Pass, locking down exclusive content for Playstation only while blocking it from every other platform out there including the PC market, locking down timed exclusive after timed exclusive as well as 3rd party exclusives and of course buying other companies.

Re: Assassin's Creed Valhalla Reaches an Impressive 20 Million Players

cburg

At first I could not get into it. But then I played Odyssey, then Origins and then Valhalla. I could not put it down then. The graphics are incredible. It was actually my favorite of the three. I really enjoy the time period and the viking lore. I still have to play the newest DLC. My backlog is so large though.

Re: The Outer Worlds Is Totally Coming to PS5, Even if Its Sequel Won't

cburg

@UltimateOtaku91 I have no problem with anyone saying anything negative about XBOX. XBOX needs more first party friggin' games!! This year had been abysmal. My problem is the console war mentality or the us vs. them mentality. I see no reason for it. It is just petty. The other issue with your argument is that I am lucky to own all three consoles. I am a Playstation fan. Otherwise I would not have bought the PS5. And like you, I will continue to post what I want on this site.

Re: The Outer Worlds Is Totally Coming to PS5, Even if Its Sequel Won't

cburg

@UltimateOtaku91 Of course it is a different scenario because it involves your beloved Playstation and you are drinking the koolaid. What about Deathloop, Skyrim Anniversary Edition, Ghostwire Tokio, etc.? They are owned by Microsoft. Who cares if Microsoft or Sony or Nintendo owns the studio. What about Minecraft, MLB The Show. A good game is a good game and Obsidian has made a lot of them. Plus as Liam pointed out the Private Division still owns the rights. Stop being so salty and rigid. Your incessant fanboy slobbering is ridiculous. You need to grow up and understand that there is life outside of your beloved Sony. And by the way, it is ok to like other things.

Re: The Outer Worlds Is Totally Coming to PS5, Even if Its Sequel Won't

cburg

@UltimateOtaku91 You mean how Playstation charges $10 for upgrades to the PS5 version of games, $70 for the Last of Us remake and $50 console prices increases, among other things. Take of your blinders. You know, if you saw the gaming world outside of your PS lenses you might find there is a lot more out there you might like.

Re: Elden Ring Update 1.07 Buffs Magic and Abilities, Rebalances PvP Damage, More

cburg

I bought this when I was in the middle of playing Skyrim for the first time on Game Pass. At first I thought the game was ridiculous but once I got the hand of it everything clicked. I ended up playing Elden Ring four times and am now at level 350. It is my favorite game of all time. The open world, lore, etc is awesome. I can't wait for the DLC. I had to take a break though. Just finished the main story in Zero Dawn which was really good. Now time for the Frozen Wilds.

Re: Microsoft Says PS5, PS4 Would Still Be Bigger if Every Call of Duty Player Switched to Xbox

cburg

Lots of comments from both sides on the issue. The fact of the matter is Jim Ryan is a cry baby hypocrite. He is anti-gamer/consumer and wants to milk the PS customer out of as much money as possibly. Losing the exclusive content advantage on COD is all about the billions not going into Sony's coffers. The behind the scenes sneaky deals to keep content and games off other platforms, timed exclusives, upcharges for remasters of games, new games costing a whopping $70 and increasing the price of the console just add to this notion, among many other things.

What perplexes me is why so many loyal PS fans buy into this nonsense. "What Sony does is different because Sony buys the smaller studios and cultivates, grooms and loves them. Microsoft just wants to buy everyone because they are a trillion dollar company and this acquisition is different because it is huge. They have no games and that is the reason why they are buying everyone. It is not fair. It is not good for gaming."

The Sony arrogance is just unbearable. Let's face it. Microsoft has a vision and is on the cusp of revolutionizing gaming. Sony and Jimbo are complaining because they have to work harder now instead of using their position as market leader to manipulate their sheep. And I say this as a person lucky enough to own all three consoles. All three are great in their own ways.
