Re: Movie Review: Resident Evil - The Best Resident Evil Film Ever

@Gamer83
Never cared for the RE movie sequels, but seeing the first RE movie(2002) when i was just 18 back in the theatres was an absolute blast. One of my favourite theatre experiences ever. Beltromi & Manson's synth based score was phenonemal, and did such an amazing job at capturing the cold chlostrophobic isolated sterile and eerie atmosphere. And the laser room sequence? I mean, c'mon!

It's even one of Jame's Cameron's guilty pleasures. One of the last movies in the theatre to ever have me on the edge of my seat. I remember actually fearing for some of the characters(Caplin taking the crown) when they were first introduced and ambushed by swarms of zombies in that giant room full of canisters. Paul Anderson said he wanted to inject an almost hammer horror 70's-like vibe into it, and i can definitely see and feel that during certain key moments.

It was the first Zombie combeback film too, a genre that felt like it had been laying dormant for about a decade, with Return of the Living Dead 3(93') being the last, and prior to that was Tom Savini's Return of the Living Dead Remake. Ya, the 90's was definitely not the year for zombies.

Meanwhile, RE2 appocalypse felt like a glorified high budget cosplay convention, Extenction was a poor man's Mad Max and then after that the quality went straight down the toilet. 4, 5 & 6 were god awful, and it's crazy too because they were all directed by Paul A who did the original. Meanwhile, Welcome to Racoon City actually started out pretty promising, at least with the first 20 minutes, but it dissolved into mediocrity pretty quickly!

It's charming, campy and kind of fun. Maybe. I guess? They really dropped the ball with their interpretation of Lisa Trevor. That was rough!

Have you experienced VR before with PSVR1, PSVR2 or Quest 3? I'm telling you, the VR cutscenes in Resident Evil Village VR are mind blowing. Subside's DLC 'Makoa Shelf' (The Tiger sharks are just terrifying)is another must-play that's a wonderful showpiece for the technology.

And yes, it's totally ready. Just not the form factor, weight and cable getting in the way. Steam frame rectifies most of Q3 & PSVR2's issues. Makes sense sense being a 2026 headset and all.

Steam Frame + PCVR(that has a bit more juice than a PS5 Pro) is where' I'm headed. it's a big investment, but i need new hardware after owning both Q3 & PSVR3 for a few years now. As awesome as they've been, the blemishes are starting to show.

I'll take your word for it. I haven't bought anything beyond 65" just yet. If anything, I've heard some people say that PS5 games look a touch softer at 77 vs 65", but are they actually feeding it native 4K content?

5K - 8K is extremely important for both VR & Stereoscopic 3Ding' flatscreen games, since the resolutoin has to be split in half for each eye in order to perceive 3D depth & pop. You've got to double the resolution to 8K in order to get the image as clear as it would be with a native 4K PS5 game being displayed on a 4K OLED TV, which is twice the load!

So that's where 5-8K is absolutely benificial if Sony decides to whip out a PSVR3 or 3D MR based glasses, even if they decided to give PSVR3's resolution 2.5K per eye which equals 5K, unless I'm mistaken?

Re: PS6 Could Be the Last PlayStation Console Designed by Iconic Architect

WaveWitch

PS6 predictions >

  • 2-3x the power of a base PS5 - (In between a 5070 & 5070 Ti)
  • PSSR3
  • Haptics 2
  • Adaptive Triggers 2
  • 500hz polling rate (less controller & Gyro latency)
  • 9-Axis Gyro
  • Another controller innovation or two
  • For Sony to finally ditch their detached-styled D-pad and go traditional like NS2's Pro Controller. here's hoping!

Still, if PS6 doesn't get PlayStation VR3, or glasses that injects Stereoscopic 3D(As if you're peering through a window into another world, with 3D pop, similar to 3DS but on a 65" Screen for example.) into a size adjustable MR display than I think I might just pass.

Also, supporting resolution beyond 4K would be benifical exclusively for VR & stereoscopic 3D. Since both require, lets say, 4K to be split into each eye which equals 1080p per eye. if it supports 8K, than you'd get native 4K per eye for an S3D screen for example.

Nobody cares about 8K TV's. it's completely out of the realm. PS5 Pro still struggles to get modern games clocked at native 4K. it's serious diminishing returns unless you're opting for a 77"- 83" OLED. But most people can't afford nor have an 83-incher. Even 77 is pushing it.

4K still looks the best on a 55" imo, it's just a little more tack sharp, but 65", depending on the title is more immersive and epic, like with Resident Evil 2&3 Remake, or Requiem running on PS5 Pro at 120fps. It's so funny to think that a 50" TV for ex, back in like 2009 was huge....Now 65" feels like the norm, with 50" looking tiny.

@LikelySatan
New 3rd party games are $500? it's bad enough that they're re-selling Neogeo 90's AES+ first party Cartridges new for $119(Cad) a pop. Metal Slug 1, X & 3 still run at 30fps with mountains of slow down. Thankfully AES+ includes an overclock mode which I'm guessing will either remove or mitigate the slowdown and lock it at a perfect 30fps. That's a big win, if that winds up being the case.

but whatever, AES+ isn' dropping until 2027 Sept now. it's neither here nor there, I'm not even going to waist my time thinking about. I'll just stock up on Neogeo Arcade Archive releases instead on NS2. Better yet, for those that have a MiSTer, you can just download the entire catalogue, play them on a 27" CRT with a premium arcade stick or Neogeo wired gamepad(Using a SNAC adapter) and get less than like 2ms of lag total. lol

You bypass emulation lag thanks to MiSTer being FPGA-based. CRT's have zero lag, and the SNAC adapter will give you less than 2ms. That's the way to go, but it's technically illegal and I'm too lazy to install whatever it is that's needed to get it all up and running.

Re: Metal Slug Ultimate Collection Brings All the Classics to PS5, and a Brand New Game Is in the Works

WaveWitch

I have 1-5 along with X for Arcade Archives on NS1, but I need this obviously for 6, 7 and the GBA entry, and because they actually give you options for different background artwork, rather than an ugly black void with a grey streak like with every single AA release.

Hopefully the latency either matches or gets lower than the AA emulations, and there's quality CRT filters to tinker with. 😚 Then again, this is M2 we're talking about, so we should be in good hands!

And I never got around to playing MS3 during it's time in the Arcades back in the 2000's, which seems to get the most praise of the original trilogy. That or X. The Arcade scene felt like it was shrivling up by the mid to late 2000's. Heck, i haven't been to an actual arcade(aka, Playdium at my local mall when it existed) since 2005. I just don't care anymore.

Re: You Barely Saw Sony's Zelda Movie During Today's Anniversary Direct

WaveWitch

Hysterical. All that build up for some plain jane Legend of Zelda title font. Either way, OOT Remake, visually speaking, looks outstanding. Nintendo has officialy pretty much hit a wall of graphical dimishing returns with NS2, at least for most of their own franchises. With Metroid being the exception maybe.

Surprised to see it running at 60fps too factoring in how graphically intensive it looks given how much power the NS2 is boasting, which is like a PS4 Pro+ when docked.

And what drives me up the wall about modern Nintendo, is just how overexplanitory they are with literally everything they present. And why didn't they just unveil OOT's 2nd trailer before showing the hands-on gameplay & narroration?

That was an odd move, but I guess it's expected by this point. I can imagine most people getting a lot more excited by first experiencing that trailer, instead of some low key hands on gameplay footage with the lead director slowly discussing the QOL improvements and visuals overhaul etc.

I'm going to be pretty choked if Capcom doesn't include an option for limited lives. When it comes to gaming, i want to be challenged and punished for my mistakes.

I want that feeling of exhiliration, honed in eye cordination and mastering each and every stage etc. Just that senes of reward, which will be mostly absent if there's unlimited lives only. PuppetMaster said it best.

I understand Capcom's trying to gain a broader audience by making MM more accessible, but they still shouldn't cut the MM veterans short. I'm definitely more of a masochistic gamer myself. I love difficult video games. Ninja-Gaiden 1&3(NES), Castlevania III, Ghosts n Goblins, Adventure Island, Mega Man 10(Hard mode) etc. Bring it dude. lol

The sea of text aint finished yet. And as far as not being able to get a 'feel' or full appreciation for many of those 80's & 90's arcade games, due to zero nostalgia on your end. I totally hear you. It would be the exact same scenario for me if i were playing Arcade cabinets from the late 70's like Asteroids, Space Invaders, Joust etc.

That stuff is boarderline alien to me, just like the Atari 2600. The earliest stuff i dabbled in, when i did, was with Burger Time, Donkey Kong(etc) at my local Chuck E Cheese's first floor where all of the 5+ year old arcade machines were in like 1990-ish. I was more into The Simpsons, TMNT 89, Street Fighter II, Primal Rage, X-Men, Neogeo, Mortal Kombat and more. They kept the new stuff on the 2nd floor and that's where most of the kids flocked to.

And it doesn't mean your a fraud for trying too hard to fit in or enjoy the retro arcade stuff. Anybody who labels themselves a 'real gamer'(I'm obviously not directing this at you btw) needs to kick rocks. I don't care if somebody started gaming since the NES or the frikkin Coleco Vision, that doesn't make somebody superior than sombody else who started gaming in the 2000's or onwards. That's what a lot of these older gate keeping 'yelling at the clouds' zoids do. We don't get to pick and choose when we're born after all. Besides, how cool would it of been to be a kid and start out with lets say the DS Lite in 2005 or so, or the 3DS in 2011?

Or maybe even the GameCube, or dare I say Wii, which is actually one of my favourite consoles of all time. It's all generational, circumstantial, and we tend to be biased towards our childhood and think 'we had it the best' But I'm over that. Videogames, in the end, are entertainment, and if you're enjoying yourself with whichever game you're playing(new or old) than that's what it's all about.

Making great memories, with the people you surround yourself with and care about. Just like the kids of today are doing with Switch 1&2, which is their time, this is their NES or SNES. They'll look back fondly at their first gaming memories, be it Donkey kong Bananza, maybe Kirby Air Riders or Super Mario Odyssey, etc whatever, and they'll cherrish those times forever as they should.

@GirlVersusGame

But was Genesis as earth shattering as SNES was in 1991? Naddah. Not for me. Going from the NES, or even from the Genesis and then to the SNES was like enterting a whole new world of gaming, and it had that brilliant diverse orchestrated sound, the SNES controller was so intimdating for it's time(First controller to have shoulder buttons, and a diamond-styled 4 face button layout). Super Mario World blew our little minds away. We couldn't believe what we were seeing and hearing, and that's just one example of the many.

Also, back in the early to mid 90's, you'd go over to a friends or cousins house, and they'd have NES, SNES(etc) cartridges usually scattered on the floor around their living room's 27"-whatever CRT, same thing in the late 90's, with PS1, N64 & Dreamcast. The convience factor was better too, since everything was within reach, controllers always worked because they were wired, and because the CRT's were usually around 27" large we weren't sitting farther back like we all do now on a couch, with our 55, 65 & 77" OLED 4K TV's. The number one area that TV's have gone completely backwards with is motion clarity. CRT's had that amazing clear blur free motion, unlike the sample & hold 4K OLED's of today. The difference is pretty jarring!

And wow, I completely forget about DiscWorld for PS1. It was a trip back then, but i doubt I'd have the patience for it now. A bit wordy and pretty obtuse. And when you mentioned Looney Tunes, do you mean Tiny Toons 1 for NES? And have you had any luck with the Sony Trinitron CRT's from the 90's? They're sketchier to buy since they've aged more. I guess it all comes down to the tech-junk inside aging and how much hours have been poored into them. I play it safe and go for the 2005/2006 Sony WEGA Trintirons. the 32" models are the perfect size for the 6th generation > Dreamcast, PS2, GameCube, XBOX and Wii since it's technically the final SD Console, using component cables. Everything prior to Dreamcsat, I'd go for a 27" CRT.

And yes, i have plenty of memories going down to my local video store(Ahem Mega Videos. And it was called Mega Videos, it was 1990 afterall. lol) with friends and family, and gazing at the isle of NES games lined up the shelves for rent. Physical video game box art was at it's peak during that era imo. People always trash Mega Man 1's NES box art, which I totally get, but seeing it in person around the time it came out with that Tron-styled Capcom bezel/boarder actually saved it haha.

I loved MM2's box art especially, but MM5's is probably the best designed overall and really captures the essence and look of what 90's Mega Man was all about. Even though the game itself is so painfully vanilla. Man, do i miss the late 80s and ealry 90's. Such a killer time for Fashion, pop music, Malls, home interior/decor, just the simplicity of it all pre-social media and internet. You really honed in to what you enjoyed, as there was less distractions, and you really appreciateed what you had. People in general just seemed a lot happier and more optimistic back then. David Hasslehof said it best, it was like living in a world full of imagination. Mind you, the later 90's, which i still enjoyed, were nowhere near as good as the earlier 90's. The 90's moved too fast imo.

I actually sold most of my SD retro consoles back in my early 30's, and as expected I totally regret it. But at the same time, it's not like they were my original childhood systems, which would of been irriplaceable on a sentimental scale. That had already happened in the 90's. Sometimes i wish my parents would of just boxed it all up and stored it all in a closet, so I'd have access to it later on in the future, but alas'. I still have a few retro consoles, a 27" CRT and VHS player. Definietly going to stock up and re-buy some of what i sold in the past.

But ya, back in the 90's we basically moved on to the next cutting edge console or two, and typically sold off whatever we had from the previous console generation, and rolled with what was in the now. By the later 90's the SNES was old news. It was all about PS1 & N64, until the all mighty Sega Dreamcast paved the way in 1999, which imo, was the last console to have such a massive next generational leap in power, having grown so acustom to PS1 & N64 before it.

it was like having the modern day arcade experience right in our living rooms. Everything from it's whimsical beautiful console & controller design, Tomogachi-styled VMU accessory, pastal colored face buttons(etc). The PS1 and Dreamcast launches were just magical, as was SNES.

I didn't get my NES until 89'(It technically dropped in 86, but I was too young to be gaming at just 2 years old) which was absoutely transformative as it was for millions. Sega Genesis rocked too. it had it's own edgy vibe, and a lot of weirder quirkier odd ball titles, topped with that brilliant synthasizer sound chip which was outstanding when helmed by the right composer, like with Streets of Rage 2, Lightning Force, Shadow Dancer, Decap Attack and so much more. >

I'd love to play this....with a 3rd person PCVR mod, using Steam Frame and a DualSense Controller with practically the exact same tradtional controls. I Need that sense of scale, immersion and wow factor, and that just simply isn't possible on some flat depthless 65" QD-OLED 4K TV, with a killer surround sound system, as much as absolutely love the latter.

Audio is just important as image quality that's for sure!

Re: Mega Man: Dual Override Is Legit, and I Know Because I Died 100 Times

@GirlVersusGame
If you plan on getting into the Classic MM series, i highly suggest avoiding the Mega Man Legacy 1 collection for PS4, on PS5, with the exception of 9 & 10 which are included in the MML 2 collection. Since those two aren't emulations. they're direct WiiWare eshop/PSN ports without any additional latency or other issues, that are present in 1- 8.

Playing the NES emulated versions in the MML collection makes it feel like you're jumping around in metal pants with a ball and chain strapped to your ankle. That's how bad the latency is. Plus, the colors are desaturated and dark, and Capcom completely flubbed the CRT filter.

If you want the best possible experience, I'd get the original NES cartridges for 1-6 on eBay, 7 on SNES, and then 8 on PS1, obviously with the original hardware, paired with a 27" Sony CRT. There's also SNES reproduction carts sold online for Mega Man & Bass, which is one of the stronger entries in the franchise. It's basically MM 8.5. And then get MM Legacy 2 for 9&10, digitally.

And I gotta say, MM11 is so much more fun to play with either a Nintendo Switch 1 or 2 Pro Controller, simply because of the traditional D-pad. Sure, the PS4 version has anti-aliasing, no weird occasional frame rate hiccups and it has a slight edge in visuals, like with character model helmet reflections(etc), but the DualSense's detached-styled rubbery D-pad, at least for me, really compromised the experience, and made it that less enjoyable to play. Plus, for whatever reason, the PS4 version has more lag, so the controls dont feel as instantaneous or light compared to Switch 1&2.

I'm really hoping Capcom gives Mega Man vets' the option to have limited lives. Taking them out and having you automatically start at the last check point is just going to greatly, if not completely, diminish that exileration, suspense, just feeling like you're constantly on your toes and that you have something to lose. As is, Baby-fied MM is right. I hate easy video games. Those were great points you made!

Visuals and art direction look fantastic(Minus the generic design of Twinkle Girl. Lets get real, she's no Splash Woman. ) .Plus I love the idea of 3 smaller stages per Robot Master, 2 of which have their own sub-boss(With returning classic Robot Masters).

Still, Twinkle Girl's stage theme is pretty forgettable. Anyways! Capcom we'll probably unveil 2 or 3 more robot masters and their stage themes during their Sept 16nth Showcase. Crossing my fingers for some RE Veronica in-game footage, and an RE9 Gold Edition unveil that includes a PSVR2 mode.

Playing Maneater 2 in 3rd person VR using the DualSense controller with the same exact traditional controls present when playing this game on a TV would be an absolute trip.

This game looks like Eco the Dolphin on Acid. Sign me up for a 3rd person PCVR mod, using the Steam Frame for 2027. I'm still going to throw it up on my PS5 wishlist. I mean really, it was easily the most imaganitive, creative and ballsy unveil during that awful SOP.

Re: GTA 6 Limited Edition PS5 Controllers Revealed, Out 19th November

@TheDarts
Most of these DualSense colorway/editions look uninspired and too vanilla. I think Sony doing away with the iconic multi-colored Pink, Green, Square & Red font shape-based buttons was a big mistake with PS5. By taking that away, the DS just looks sterile and soulless.

I do like the Hyperpop lineup in regards to Rythem Blue, Remix Green & Techno Red. Midnight Black would of looked great too if it had Sony's rainbow colored face buttons, giving it that much needed pop, but alas. As is, it looks so generic and bland.

Hopefully the PS6 controller looks a little more unique, fun and intersting. But based on the way things have been progressed since the 2010's, I'm just expecting another bland white or black corporate box that fails to really differentiate itself from the steady flow of Sony & MS console boxes were constantly being hawked these days. They're doing the bare minimum, in fear of change, and to be none-intrusive, because the world is boring now and we're living in a corporate hellscape.

Feels like the Sega Dreamcast was the last amazingly beautiful, fun and ballsy looking console, combined with it's controller & VMU, that screamed 'this is the future'. It looked and felt magical back then. It was, after all the last console to come out of the 90's and it showed. But one could also argue the same for the GameCube controller. The GCN console itself was nothing to write home about in the looks department, albeit still somewhat unique with the lunch box styled design & mini-discs, but the controller design was easily the star of the show.

Since then, we've been getting XBOX360 & DualShock styled controllers with minor alterations along the way.
Video game console & Controller design has been uninspired and oh so boring for the last 15+ years. And it's funny, what completely saves the look of the NS2, are the neon orange & Blue analog stick underlay accents & colored side rails, otherwise it would look like a seemless slab of boring black plastic. It almost gives me Sega Genesis vibes, but in a more minimal less loud and flashy kind of way.

Re: Sony Still Hasn't Decided When to Launch PS6, Says CEO

WaveWitch

@rjejr
If i could enjoy stereoscopic 3D on a 55 or 65" Glossy QD-OLED, giving me the effect of peering through a window into another world, and with pop just like the 3DS but in 1080p - 4K per eye with the power of a PS6, I'd be fully on board.

Stereoscopic 3D and blur-free motion clarity are the big two missing ingredients to the modern 4K TV QD-OLED puzzle.

I'm expecting PS6 to have a higher polling rate as well. At least 500hz(PS5 is 250hz, and you can tell that it makes gyro feel more 1:1 and precise and reduces DualSense controller lag as well) 500hz would drop gyro latency down to just 2ms from the already 4ms). Plus I'm sure it will adopt NS2's '9'-Axis gyro too.

And i wish Sony would finally do away with their detached-styled rubbery D-pad, and just mimick with the NS2 pro controllers D-pad, but make it slightly larger and more accurate.

Haptics 2, Adaptive Triggers 2, PS6 having 2-3x the power of a base PS5(In between a 5070 & 5070 Ti according to rumours), PSSR3, but I'm not expecting flatscreen PS6 games to exceed 4K. Higher resolutions beyond 4K would be really benificial for VR though, since 4K is spliced in half for each eye to gain Stereoscopic 3D in VR for PSVR2. and it would also be needed for S3D on a TV screen or 3D MR Glasses.

And if PS5 supports 240hz/fps, combined with future 240hz capable 4K OLED TV's(They're currently restricted to monitors), and with 240hz BFI implementaion, that would reduce OLED motion blur by a whopping 75%...Slightly edging out the best plasmas ever made, and it would get 25% closer to a blur-free CRT.

Modern 4K TV's, even OLED, have awful sample & hold motion clarity, it's blurry mush and artificial. We've gone backwards big time in that area. But if you game at 120fps, than you cut 50% of the blur down, but 120fps is a luxory at this point.
Meanwhile, Quest 3 & Steam Frame have zero motion blur. Their LCD displays have the exact same motion persistence of the CRT's the graced the 80's, 90's and early to mid 2000's. They're way ahead of the game in that area, and while also obviously including S3D, VR, best in-class motion controls that surpasses 9-Axis Gyro etc.

I was recently watching a 4K trailer of Mega Man Dual Overide for PS5 on a 40" sized Mixed Reality screen using my Quest 3, and i couldn't believe how amazing the motion clarity was. It's perfection, seeing Mega Man manouever around without any motion blur with all of that 4K detail remaining in tact just like when everything is static was like catching a glimpse of what a 4K CRT would be like today. Playing it on an OLED TV, will just have motion blur animation cascading and yadah yadah, just like it does with MM11. It sucks, but most people have adjusted to it and don't know any better. They just don't realise what they're missing.

Maybe if Sony brought back cartridges, and not teeny little mini-carts like with NS1 & NS2. I'm talking SNES or N64-sized the pop into the top of the console, with Full Cover/sticker art. That would be a lot more appealing and fun vs the chinsey cheap throwaway boring plastic that they're currently hawking.

If not, digital all the way. Then again, if PS6 doesn't get PSVR3 or any real note worthy innovation that shakes things up, I'll most likely pass, and just stick with PCVR(With Steam Frame or Quest 4) and NS2.

I support an all 'quality' physical future, and that unfortunately will never come to a fruition. It's over. If PS6 physical media was every bit as fun, meaty, beautiful, eye catching and exciting as it was with NES, SNES, GameBoy & Genesis for example, than I'd be all for it.

I've said this before, but modern physical media from both Sony & MS is chincey cheap plastic, with awful cover art, splattered in too much legal text agreement, it's all bland boring clutter, at least in my eyes. The artistry is vaccant, and do the discs even have the actual game data on them or do they have to be downloaded online? Nintendo Switch carts actually have the game installed on them(Key Card releases aside).

Anyways, Sony & MS are doing the bare minimum just to apiease a smaller crowd, and now they're finally done with it. Heck I've been done with PS physical media since PS3(Which was basically my DVD player during the Wii & DS Lite era, to be fair. lol). I still buy NS1 physical releases here and there, becase they look that much more appealing, especially the LRG releases.

I wish somebody would perfectly replicate some of those iconic PS1 Long box releases and sell them at an affordable price. With the likes of Battle Arena Toshinden, Resident Evil, Jumping Flash, Rayman, just to name a few. Sure, they're available on ebay, but the cases are all scuffed up, brittle and chipped etc. It really felt special seeing and buying them new/sealed during the launch/Window of PS1 back in 95'

In general, I despise how so many people out there expect them to think like they do, do as they do and if whomever doesn't live by their rules they're pretty much outsted and pinned to the cross. Cult-like hived minded behaviour drives me nutty. Nothing more frustrating than dealing with a crazed control freak that reinforces 'their way' on to other people. But the moment you try and gain control over that very person it becomes a total piss party.

They're not having it. It's annoying when certain people expect you to act a certain way or be a certain way. You''ve got to be true to yourself at the end of the day, and accept who you truly are and persue what you love. We're all going to have our share of haters, no matter how good of a person you are.

I wish more people would be kind and respectful towards what other people are passionate about, even if it's not their thing. Maybe we should feel inspired and happy when we se somebody oozing with enthusiasm towards whatever it is that brings them joy and happyness in life, even if you're a stamp collecting historian. lol Variety is the spice of life as they say, if all of our opinions alighed 100 what a boring world it would be.

And the video game stigma is still well and alive. It's so wild how movies & watching sports always get a pass, but with video games, depending on who you're around, it's almost like you have to keep it on the down low. I don't think we'll be handed shiny medialians or brownie points in the after life, if there is one, from the man upstairs for chosing one form of entertainment over the other. Some people seriously need to get over themselves and stop casting judgement over other people for enjoying something may may not like.

Then you've got the peeps who get older and lose that child-like spark, wonderment, they become cynical and boring and don't have a single hobbie to their name. One of my favourite slogans from Nintendo was from a 1989/1990 Game Boy Commercial that said > ,"You don't stop playing because you get old, but you might get old if you stop playing"

And if it doesn't, I'll just get a PC that edges it out a little in power(5070 Ti should do the trick with the best CPU available) and roll with the latest and greatest VR headset(or Glasses), be it Steam Frame OLED(Here's hoping in a couple more years) or Quest 4 etc, and enjoy the onslaught of incredible PCVR mods, list of upcoming VR titles from Flat2VR and other indies.

NS2 shall be my main, with PCVR(+ Steam Frame or Quest 4) and then stand alone VR/MR with Pheonex & Quest 4.

I couldn't even get into the flatscreen version of RE9 Requiem. Which is a scary sign, since RE is pretty much my favourite video game franchise of all time. But I've experienced 4 entries already in VR and there's no going back to RE Flat. I want that realistic full scale, visceralness, just that impact, wow factor and insane level of immersion which you simply cannot get when playing it on, lets say a 65" Glossy QD-OLED, on a PS5 Pro with an amazing surround sound system. For me personally, it's just getting stale in most cases, in a gaming landscape of graphical dimminishing returns.

As for NS1/NS2. I still enjoy some of Nintendo's exlusives, but i mainly play Faux/NewWave retro, as it feels home on Nintendo and it's controller layout and D-pad with the Pro 1/2 is just a lot more natural and tactile, vs the Duelsense's detached-styleld rubbery D-pad.

Switch 2, and PSVR3 + PS6 would be such a fantastic combo, but the latter may not come to fruition, but I've got other options, it's just a much bigger investment, but it give you the freedom to experience PCVR mods like with Resident Evil Veronica, ILL, Bioshock 1&Infinite, N64 VR(3rd person VR) titles, and so much more.

@GirlVersusGame
Love that top shelf with the sealed row of VHS tapes and action figures. Looks great! Suspiria is an absolute masterpiece, as long as it's watched on either DVD or VHS on a big CRT TV, or good Plasma. 1080p and especially 4K, imo, doesn't do it any favours and that can be said for so many movies that graced the 80's.

I watched it back when i was 26 for the first time, and it felt like I was almost partaking in a living breathing nightmare caught on film. From the brilliant extravagent set pieces, candy colored nightmarish lighting, and master class cinematopgraphy. What an experience that was. It's funny, when you're THAT young and a movie lands, you come out of it feeling like a different person. And don't get me started on that brilliant OST from Goblin. 10/10, minus the weird abrupt ending. Lamberto Bava's Demon's 1 is another one of my favourites!

And ya, It's always important to switch things up and take different avenues wiithin whatever hobbies you may have, and that's exactly what i did when i took the plunge into 80's itallian horror back when i was 26 in 2010-2012. I tackled everything from Lucio Fulci, Dario Argento & Lamberto Bava.

Suspiria & Demons are the king of the crop imo! Sigh. I wish i could be 24 - 28 again. At that age it was just so much easier to suspend my disbelief, take it all in and truly appreciate it all, films had such a larger impact on me when they landed and i felt like i had retained that child like-spark and wonderment in spaids, vs being nearly 42!

We're living in an age were so many peoples attention spans are fried thanks to TT, YT Shorts and the never ending multi-tasking and doom scrolling by the millions of social media worshipping smart phone warriors. lol

I'd be more than happy bouncing back to a Nokia, but my Smart phones camera definitely comes in handy. I'm all about the forums, having conversations, not these pathetic half baked 2 sentence replies you often see on YT or even website talk back sections that are spat out solely for attentions and likes.

The upvote/downvote system needs to be removed already, because it's just designed to lure in the attention seekers that are frothing to give themselves a big pat on the back.

@Tasuki
Well I'm sure this new He-man Brawler will be a lot better than that god awful 2026 Masters of the Universe Movie. Still haven't played Terminator 2D No Fate yet. It just looks kind of cheapO', and doesn't seem like it's really doing anything all that unique.

Looks like it's riding off those iconic moments in the film and translating them into stages, while borrowing heavily from the likes of Contra and whatever else. Sprite work looks impressive at times, just the level of detail and animation that's been poured into some of the in-game cut scenes, but the running animations look horrendous.

Re: Furious PS5 Players Unplug Their Consoles in Protest as Blackout Gets Underway

WaveWitch

@Bettyswollocks
Agreed. You couldn't pay me to keep modern PlayStation physical media at my place. They're ugly, clinical, have lousy unappealing cg stock cover art, splattered in too much legal text agreement all over the back and even inside the case, the discs look boring, the cases are cheap flimsy plastic, topped with a boring white corporate top label and all black PS logo/reguritated generic spiderman inspired PS5 font. The artistry, uniqueness and substantialness are all long gone. They're not even trying and havent been since PS3.

We had it made back in the later 80s and most of the 90s, with NES, Genesis, GameBoy, SNES, PC big box(ect) physical media. I really liked some of the long box 1995/1996 PS1 releases before they quickly transitioned into CD jewel case. And who could forget the white label 99' Dreamcast releases too.

I miss the ballsy, hand drawn illustrated, outlandish, beautiful, colorful and zany cover art from the 8-16 bit generations. You cant even compare it.

Re: Sony Still Hasn't Decided When to Launch PS6, Says CEO

WaveWitch

@rjejr
lol I hate the idea of getting a PC. Huge investment, with all of that friction/barriers. I'd much rather get a PS5 Pro for VR power IF i could magically pair it with the upcoming Steam Frame, but alas', that will never come to frution so I'm forced to go PC. Ya know, I haven't had a gaming PC since 2000. Was never my thing.

Resident evil 2 & 3 Remake(Runing at 120fps) were my final PS5 flat screen 'hurrahz' I need Stereoscopic 3D & VR moving forward with PlayStation.

I could of sworn i read Sony saying that they refuse to release just another predictable by the numbers PS5. They know they're wandering around in land of now graphical diminishing returns and that yielding more horse power won't be enough or interesting enough, and they're right! PSVR3 is the ticket. Or even coming out with Stereoscopic 3D Glasses for our TV's that feel as if we're peering through a window into the gaming world and with pop out effects.

I hope they shake things up, because it's all starting to feel played out and super samey these days. VR has so much more room for growth. I still love new wave retro indie stuff to, and I'm really looking forward to stuff like Mega Man 12, LOZ: OOT Remake and more, but that's all pretty much NS2 stuff.

Re: Sony Still Hasn't Decided When to Launch PS6, Says CEO

WaveWitch

@rjejr
8K? They can't even get 99% of PS5's library with the pro running at 'native' 4K.

I think resolution is overrated, especially when you're dealing with modern 4K QD-OLED/OLED TV's that suffer from sample and hold motion blur. No amount of resolution will corrent that headache. We've gone backwards in that area.

120fps will cut down 50% of the motion blur, but 120fps is also super demanding and piling on 60 more fps on top of 60 isn't suitable for every game, but it does make the motion clarity clearer by 50% and reduces input lag by half, which makes the game itsel feel more responsive. Perfect exmaples would be DOOM Eternal, or playing RE2 & RE3 Remake in 'high frame rate mode' on PS5 Pro.

Native 4K & 120fps support should be more porminent, and I'm guessing Haptics 2, Adaptive triggers 2, maybe a new controller innovation or two. I don't know. TV manufactures will continue to sweep OLED motion blur under the rug and will not offer any form of Black frame insertion settings to improve upon it. to get us back to the glory days of blur free motion like with CRT.

If PS6 doesn't get PSVR3, i dont think I'll bother. PCVR modders are doing god's work. I'd rather stick with the latest and greatest VR Glasses or headset(Think Steam Frame) and pair it with a PC that's got a bit more power than a PS6, and keep NS2 as my main for nintendo exclusives and new wave retro releases.

RE Veronica will have a PCVR mod up in running around a month after it releases in flatscreen on Steam, with QOL updates along the way that will make it just as good as a capcom developed VR game, which is already the case with RE9 Requiem PCVR. I can't even go back to playing RE on a TV anymore. Not even Requiem's PS5 demo could win me over.

Re: System Shock, High on Life, More Are Breathing New Life into PSVR2

WaveWitch

@Northern_munkey
I always assumed that Eye Tracking + DFR was an added bonus to help out greatly in terms of performance. Why would that be required in order to get games like Astro Bot: RM over?

And ya, High on Life VR & System Shock may be coming. But High on Life is slated for 2027, i can't get excited for anything that far off and we don't have a release for SS either. Then there's Out of Sight, Postal 2, Bootstrap Island, and maybe Grimlord on the way this year. I just wish i could play all of these on Steam Frame wirelessly connected to PS5 Pro.

Re: System Shock, High on Life, More Are Breathing New Life into PSVR2

WaveWitch

@Bizzy
Hopefully Sony gets it right with PSVR3 for PS6, and uses Steam Frame, or better yet, Quest 4(light weight Glasses design with cable puck) as a template and improves upon it. I'm not too interested using PSVR2 on a PS6 driven by indies if it even winds up being compatible, since by that point in lets say Q4 2028, PSVR2 in most ways is going to feel like a dinosaur when stacked up against Q4 & SF.

Sure, a PS6 will be able to run most PSVR2 games at a native 2000x2040 per eye + SuperSampling @90fps, but you still have to deal with frensel lens clarity, low 18 PPD, Mura, PenTile OLED(Which is less detailed and clear vs RGB MicroOLED or LCD), and the form factor. Won't be getting PS6 if PSVR3 doesn't happen. I don't play my PS5 anymore unless it's for VR. PS flatscreen gaming, in most cases, at least for me, feels so played out and samey'. Not even RE Requiem's demo is winning me over, and RE is my favourite video game franchise of all time. I need it in VR.

Anyways, I'm desperate for new VR hardware, and that's where the Steam Frame comes in. But, I'm still supporting PSVR2 until i finally get around to scoring a good PC, which will be a place holder until PSVR3 for PS6 happens, if it does happen.

Re: System Shock, High on Life, More Are Breathing New Life into PSVR2

WaveWitch

@Northern_munkey
Astro Bot: RM's only issue for PSVR2 would be the need to alter the DualShock 4's touch pad/motion based mechanics and translate that stuff over to the Sense Controllers. Shouldn't be too hard. RM should of been there at launch for PSVR2, which has been said abizzion times already, i Know. It's just mind boggling to omit that one, including RE7 and Ocean Descent.

And no, Max Mustard does NOT fill the void, at all. lol That game has one of the worst soundtracks ever.

Re: System Shock, High on Life, More Are Breathing New Life into PSVR2

WaveWitch

@Art_Vandelay
It's so funny. Even just 3 years in, both PSVR2 & Quest 3, as much as i love both, have lost that newness, the magic is fading(like with any new piece of shiny hardware) and the shortcoming/blemishes are started to really show. PSVR2 with it's cable, bulkyness, discomfort(No silicone padding), low PPD, Mura, none RGB OLED, Persistence Blur, those chunky annoying rings encapsulating the controllers, no IIPD 'number dial', No spacial audio.

On the flip side, black levels are fantastic, colors look great, it has the best in-class controller haptics, head haptics, adaptive triggers, backed by PS5 Pro plug n' play Console power.

And then Quest 3 with no Eye Tracking + DFR to help out with performance, much lower Binocular overlap(About 70%, PSVR2's is 85% and Steam Frame's is supposedly 90%. Meaning Quest 3 has less stereoscopic 3D depth...), no 6ghz dongle for unoticeable PCVR image compression & low latency, and weak stand alone power.

Where as the pro's would be wireless, slimmer form factor, more ergonomic ring-less controllers, Pancake Lenses, higher 25 PPD, no Mura, RGB based display, exclusive stand alone apps like Theatre Elsewhere and more, it goes beyond VR gaming and offers so much more.

Still, i need to new Hardware at this point. This is where Steam Frame + PCVR(5070 Ti) comes in.

Re: System Shock, High on Life, More Are Breathing New Life into PSVR2

@CaptD
Loved that segment, but I was really hoping for the first unlocked vault title to be a hybrid, a popular retro-like title from either the 6th or 7th generations of consoles, or optimized ports for left for dead PSVR1 titles(Like the incredible VR universal studios-like theme park attaction 'Ocean Descent' from PSVR Worlds)...Mind you, PSVR Worlds is owned by Sony and possibily London Studios though, so I'm guessing it would of been pricey bringing that one over to PSVR2.

Still, super grateful for Flat2VR with High on life VR, System Shock, plus FlatOut & Postal 2 and more are on the way. Along with the string of mystery future vault VR titles on the horizon.

meanwhile, those lucky funkers' with high end PC rigs are having a ball with Resident Evil 9: Requiem VR. Ugh, I really hope a PSVR2 mode gets included in the upcoming Gold Edition. If not, it's time to finally throw in the towel at the possibility of it ever coming to PSVR2, and just save up the koopa cash and play it on PCVR with Steam Frame or PSVR2.

Oh, and we've got Bootstrap Island, Total Chaos, Out of Sight(The better VR little nightmares experience), Grimlord. PCVR gamers are getting RE Veronica about a month after it launches for Steam in 2027. 2026 has been a semi dire lumpy ride, but now things are looking hopeful again. Combined with the launch of Steam Frame any month now, including Meta's Connect which is slated for this Sept 23-24, which may unveil Quest 4. meta Pheonex will most likely be the main focus.

Re: Rumour: LEGO Astro Bot Sweetens the Deal on Leaked PS1 Set

In this case, Astro should be replaced & PS1 Lego-bundled with either Jumping Flash!'s Robbit, Sweet tooth from Twisted Metal, 1995 Rayman, or Eiji from Battle Arena Toshinden. Heck, I'll even take the red car from 95' Ridge Racer over Astro.

Astro Bot: Rescue Mission for PSVR1 is one of the most incredible gaming experiences I've had in my entire life, but Astro's Playroom & AB for PS5 ? They're a total bore by comparison imo.

@ButteredCrumpet

If PS6 physical media came in a different shaped case(Make it an oval shape for all i care, and not flimsy.), had a different styled colorful PS6 & PS logo and banner thats just as original as PS1's, with outlandish hand drawn/illistrated cover art that captures the imagination, minimal legal text agreement(etc) on the back, with inside artowrk and artwork all over the disc itself(etc) I'd be 100% on board with physical, even without a manual.

PS1 long boxes, at times, were like this. I think Resident Evil 1 has got to be one of the prime examples. With Chris on the front who looks like he's having a bat sh** crazy mid life crysis surrounded by mirror'd turantulas, the backside looks fantastic with plenty of screen shots, You get a big manual, inside the case there's art work based on the mansion & lab, and the disc itself is all black with that iconic Resident Evil eye.

Sure Sega CD & Saturn did the long box design first, but they were all transparent plastic. PS1 in 95, had Long baxes that were solid black plastic with a grid on the side, combined with sony's brand new multi-colored PS1 Logo and PlayStation branding. Catching a glimpse and getting a hold of a brand new sealed copy of RE1, Rayman and more in 95 felt like a big deal. Same thing applies to Battle Arena Toshinden and more. Plus fun flashy neone colored mid 90's style paper Adds or Mag Subcriptions.

Here's an old worn out crusty 30 year old used copy of RE1(96'). Back then when it was mint & sealed, it was a sight to behold.

Re: Save $100 on PSVR2 Now, Sony's Underrated PS5 Peripheral

WaveWitch

Also, if you play PSVR2 with Subside + Makoa Shelf on PS5 'Pro', it adds dynamic shadows & increases the SuperSampling resolution vs base PS5. But if your PC surpasses PS5 Pro, you should be able to get similar if not better results @90fps, if Eye Tracking + DFR is supported with the Steam/PCVR version of Subside. Not entirely sure! And yeesh, I'm still struggling to 100% Makoa Shelf(DLC) just because of how terrifying it is spotting or getting blind sided by those giant tiger sharks. lol Talasaphobia eventually kicks in 100, anxiety levels up and i start to panic!

And Steam Frame is going to be fantastic(minus the black levels), i just wish it had MicroOLED but the price would of skyrocketed. As is, thanks to the wonderful state of the economy it's already going to be over a grand(cad) and there are already plenty of people complaning about it's rumored sticker price, so MicroOLED would of been the nail in the coffin.

But ya, Micro-OLED isn't the end all be all anyways. it doesn't have the near perfect motion persistence that Quest 3 & Steam Frame's LCD has. Meaning, practically CRT-like blur-free motion clarity when moving your head around. OLED is a touch slower, especially at just 100 nits brightness. So it's all a matter of preference really until a future display tech can give you the best of both worlds.

Steam Frame + PCVR(5070 Ti, with 16GB of VRAM and an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D) is where I wanna be. I cannot wait to finally get my hands on the latest Resident Evil Requiem PCVR Mod with both Steam Frame & PSVR2. Ugh. I've put that game on the back burner and it's just driving me nutty, since RE is my favourite video game franchise and all.

I tried playing the Requiem demo on PS5 on my 65" OLED, with a great pair of headphones(And Amp) but i just couldn't get into it.What can I say, RE7, RE8(especially) & RE4 Remake spoiled me in VR. A TV by comparison is flat/depthless, you lose that true to life scale in terms characters and environments, it's nowhere near as immersive, visceral and it all just feels like one big 'whatever' at this point. That wow factor resides only in VR imo.

Gotta experience that bad boy in VR, including RE Veronica next year. And thanks! Yeah, the entire physical media ordeal is wild. I completely understand it, but i'm looking at it threw the lens as an artist, and PS5 physical media has lost it's artistry. They're corporate left over table scraps for the masses. Ownership is there including resale vale and tangibility. But i want unique substantial and awesome tangibility. Not boring clutter. And because of that, i just don't care anymore. Back in the 80's and 90's it was a different story.

Re: Save $100 on PSVR2 Now, Sony's Underrated PS5 Peripheral

WaveWitch

@ButteredCrumpet
Once you Experience Subside's DLC 'Makoa Shelf' and Resident Evil 8: Village's VR Cutscenes, i promise you, you will be blown away. you'll feel like you're rediscovering video games for the first time all over again.

Still, if money isn't much of a concern, you're going to get the best results with a PCVR rig that surpasses PS5 pro, with the upcoming Steam Frame(In terms of clarity, form factor and being wireless. PSVR2 will have the edge only in terms of deep inky blacks which IS a big deal, and more vibrant colours), but it loses in every other area.

Re: Save $100 on PSVR2 Now, Sony's Underrated PS5 Peripheral

WaveWitch

@ButteredCrumpet
If you pick up PSVR2, i highly recommend RE8 Village(The VR cutscenes are absolutely mind blowing) & Subside including it's DLC Makoa Shelf.

Village will have reprojection unfortuntely, since it's locked at 60fps(you need 90fps, like in Subside to by pass the effect). But because RE8 is so visually demanding, as is RE4Remake VR, Capcom had no other choice.

Re: Save $100 on PSVR2 Now, Sony's Underrated PS5 Peripheral

WaveWitch

@Discol76
Gotta love some of the absolutist, extremist hyperbolic peeps on here. They say ,"Nobody asked for PSVR2, it's a gimmick!"

Ya, without ANY experience whatsoever with the platform, while completely disregarding and undermining fans of PSVR2 that have had wonderful experiences with games like RE Village VR, Subside and so much more, that extends all the way back to PSVR1.

That's like me saying "flat screen gaming is played out and stale, and you're wrong for enjoying it" I most likely won't even be touching PS6 unless it gets PSVR3 myself. But I guess I'm wrong for having an absolute blast with a niche platform that the VR virgin naysayers want nothing to do with. Oh well, Steam Frame is just a month away, and it's going to be INcredible for PCVR mods.

Re: Angry PlayStation Fans Propose PS5 Blackout in Protest of Sony's Disc Decision

WaveWitch

@tangyzesty
Physical die hards are in the minority either way. Digital Sales are up at around 85% for PS5, and 15% for physical. Sony wants to make money, not lose it. They'd be catering to a smaller group of people. Basically 30-50 year olds. The new generation doesn't really care about physical media anyways. PS5 physical games look like total garbage too. I had a few and I couldn't believe how cheap the cases felt, and how soulless they looked. Then again, it's been this way since PS3.

If PS6 doesn't get PSVR3 i probably won't bother. I'll just get a high powered PC that's a PS6 adjacent or slightly better and use the latest and greatest VR glasses to play PCVR mods and yadah yadah, and to have NS2 as a console. Gotta have that Nintendo.

Re: Angry PlayStation Fans Propose PS5 Blackout in Protest of Sony's Disc Decision

WaveWitch

@XenonKnight
Steam Frame is coming next month, i expect to pay more than that(Cad), and I will. The real problem for me is going to be investing in a good PC(5070 Ti), because there's no way I'm settling for it's stand alone power.

But I'm guessing Quest 3's specs, or at least some, will best it. There's no way in hell Meta will release another 'headset' with everything self contained, like the Steam Frame is. They want to wipe away that barrier to get more people on board. people want light VR/MR glasses, which is why i wouldn't be surprised if Quest 4's adopts Meta Pheonex's wired puck which clips on to your waist, which will house the compute power & battery.

Re: Angry PlayStation Fans Propose PS5 Blackout in Protest of Sony's Disc Decision

WaveWitch

@XenonKnight
People have said the same thing about Quest 4, and now Boz hinted at it, and it most likely will be revealed this Sept during meta connect. nobody on here has a crystal ball and can forsee the future. The potential for PSVR3 + PS6 would be unreal. Once they pin point the form factor similar to the meta pheonex(which uses a cable puck housing the battery & compute power), to the point where it's not longer a headset, and instead 100g light glasses.

I've heard the same pretend crystal ball bs from gamers all before. There will be NO PS5 Pro. there will be no PSVR2, Quest 4 is not happening. Well, it's all happening!

Re: Angry PlayStation Fans Propose PS5 Blackout in Protest of Sony's Disc Decision

@ButteredCrumpet
I'd rather protest if there's no PSVR3 for PS6.
Nah, even then I wouldn't. And I like i said prior, i couldn't care less about the dull ugly modern physical media plastic of toda y anymore. Sony's vacaant throway soulless plastic looks hideous. I wouldn't want that stuff in my house period. Besides, i won't care to play any PS5 game in 5-10 years time anyways, just like i don't care to play anything on PS4 either. Revoke my digital liscene in 10-15 years time for all i care.

If i went physical and beat said game, it would just rot on a shelf or in a tub, or I'd sell the plastic. Yet i hate going through the trouble of selling my stuff anyways. Digital just fits me best.

So Gyro Aiming is out? I'm allergic to playing anything in first person with analog stick aiming only. Then again, I'm mostly over the entire genre when played on a TV, now that I've spent my fair share of time with VR since 2020, with PSVR & PSVR2. Resident Evil 7 VR, RE Village VR, Compound, just to name a few.

I'm sure we'll get a PCVR mod shortly. Once that gets completed, I'll just buy this on Steam and play it in VR with the Steam Frame.

As amazing as Astro Bot: RM was, it's showing it's age purely in terms of PSVR1's low resolution(Putting aside the cumbersome octopus-wired crazys setup, move controllers and stupid PS4 Camera resting on a TV), but it's still a phenomenal experience nonetheless. Still, I'm not into collecting old dated VR headsets, i want RM and the following below on PSVR2, but it aint happening.

Ocean Descent from PSVR Worlds, Everybody loves Golf, Resident Evil 7, Monsters of the Deep(Final Fantasy Fishing), Skyrim VR, RE7's 'Kitchen'(demo disc 3). All left for dead on PSVR1, and should of been there day one at launch, with PSVR2 opitmization in check as an additional fee.

This is old news, and has been said numerous times. but how could they not release Rescue Mission & RE7, including that magnificent Ocean/Great Shark cage dive with PSVR Worlds 'Ocean Descent' It's completely insane. Clearly the leadership/or team changed at the last minute and proper funks' weren't given towards PSVR2.

I'm nearly 42 and i can still pass for my early 30's. Eating mostly healthy, exersise, barely drinking(etc), plus genetics and not over doing it in the sun goes a long long way. But, the reality is most guys seem to drop in their later 70's. Cancer doesn't descriminate. You can work out and eat healthy all you want, which is a great way to evade heart disease for ex, but who knows what could happen! Terrence and phillip could blast through my living room window in a bus and pancake my butt and it's game-over. lol

Trying to retain that child like spark and wonderment(Video games is a great way for ex, re-experiencing child hood nostalgia with action figures, board games, cartoons, commercials ect) and 'playing' is what makes like fun, instead of growing old, bitter, cinical and abondening all of the wonderful things we enjoyed during our younger years. Like Nintendo says during that 1990 game boy commercial "You don't stop playing because you get older, but you might get old if you stop playing"

Anyways, I only really care about 80's & 90's video game physical media. Be it Sega(Genesis, maybe Saturn), Nintendo(NES, SNES & GB), PS1 & Dreamcast physical media, and maybe the occasional Nintendo stuff from the 2000's and onwards.

But yup. Team digital all the way! I just feel bad for the kids these days who won't eventually get to enjoyable the substantial physical media that graced the 80's & 90's. As for Digital, Sony and Nintendo need to pop out a 2 hour return window policy just in case we're unhappy with our purchase, and reduce the price a little since there's nothing tangible, there's nothing to resell and there's a chance that they'll revoke the game's liscense or whatever and prevent us from playing it down the line.

I feel like WLSI is the Wii's 2D platforming magnum opus that most people have completley overlooked. To get the most out of it you really need to shoot for 100% of the objectives, which makes it ridicuously challenging. Also, sprinting back through the stages to get to your time traveling device after rescueing a Merfle is basically 'Sonic done right'. lol

Also, i loved the motion tilt controls, either using Wario's Rocket Bucket when flying around, and his Boxing glove mobile when facing off against the first boss. Completly breathed new life into the platformer genre, as did the Wii remote pointer aiming & nunchuck controls did for the revolutionary Metroid Prime 3.

I wish I could feel indifferent, but most of these big AAA flat screen heavy hitters on PS feel so played out and boring most of the time. There are exceptions, but they're few and far between. I guess I'm just more into the Retro/NewWave retro stuff and the NS2 handles those kind of games perfectly. I've felt this way ever since the mid 2000's.

Thank god for Steam Frame and the upcoming Quest 4 in 2027. I'll be paring both with a PC that has more power than a PS6, be it the 5080 or 5070 Ti. And then I've got Switch 2 for everything else I need, plus my PC can run the rare occasional 3rd party multiconsole release at it's best, unless it can play it with a PCVR mod.
