One of the highlights in the Direct. I always love me some Metal Slug.
Amazing. Can't wait.
I was just watching arcade cabinet gameplay from one of the MS games during my lunch break.
Very excited for this. Love Metal Slug, love big retro collections like this, and love lost beta builds being preserved officially!
The best thing to come from the Nintendo Direct today. I just a big fan of the series.
Seeing a test build added on any collection means the publisher really understands it's fans. If they do a physical I'll definitely pick it up, I like big hefty collections like that.
Metal slug games are legendary so I will definitely be getting this.word up son
X & 3 are the best ones
I already owned MS 3 and MS Anthology. So buying a collection that handles by M2? Well why not lol. Hopefully there's a physical release.
last time i even played a Metal Slug game was when the local Pizza Hut place many years ago had the arcade game machine of one of those Metal Slug games
I have 1-5 along with X for Arcade Archives on NS1, but I need this obviously for 6, 7 and the GBA entry, and because they actually give you options for different background artwork, rather than an ugly black void with a grey streak like with every single AA release.
Hopefully the latency either matches or gets lower than the AA emulations, and there's quality CRT filters to tinker with. 😚 Then again, this is M2 we're talking about, so we should be in good hands!
And I never got around to playing MS3 during it's time in the Arcades back in the 2000's, which seems to get the most praise of the original trilogy. That or X. The Arcade scene felt like it was shrivling up by the mid to late 2000's. Heck, i haven't been to an actual arcade(aka, Playdium at my local mall when it existed) since 2005. I just don't care anymore.
Think I’ll pass on this as i’m eyeing the AES+ metal slug cartridge instead, and Ive got most of these elsewhere
I wanna give the series a go
@Fake-news You'll be waiting until at least late 2027 for that now.
Best news here is that the Metal Slug (Location Test Build) roms will get dumped and preserved.
**Also, your [PREORDER ON AMAZON] button is kinda silly since there is no Metal Slug to be found.
I wish Metal Slug gets yearly release.
but we get COD and other garbage.
@Futureshark you get it.
@Fake-news I was interested in the AES+, until I saw that new third-party games are like $500. If they release updated carts like AoF3: R or The Ninja Masters (new modes, characters, etc) then maybe.
@LikelySatan
New 3rd party games are $500? it's bad enough that they're re-selling Neogeo 90's AES+ first party Cartridges new for $119(Cad) a pop. Metal Slug 1, X & 3 still run at 30fps with mountains of slow down. Thankfully AES+ includes an overclock mode which I'm guessing will either remove or mitigate the slowdown and lock it at a perfect 30fps. That's a big win, if that winds up being the case.
but whatever, AES+ isn' dropping until 2027 Sept now. it's neither here nor there, I'm not even going to waist my time thinking about. I'll just stock up on Neogeo Arcade Archive releases instead on NS2. Better yet, for those that have a MiSTer, you can just download the entire catalogue, play them on a 27" CRT with a premium arcade stick or Neogeo wired gamepad(Using a SNAC adapter) and get less than like 2ms of lag total. lol
You bypass emulation lag thanks to MiSTer being FPGA-based. CRT's have zero lag, and the SNAC adapter will give you less than 2ms. That's the way to go, but it's technically illegal and I'm too lazy to install whatever it is that's needed to get it all up and running.
I don’t like that this is missing the Neo Geo Pocket games and specially XX, but I am glad it is including 7 for the first time since the DS and also Metal Slug Advance.
Great I can remove Anthology from the wishlist
@WaveBoy I am planning on doing the MiSTer thing next year. I play a lot of Evercade stuff rn for my retro fix.
