Re: Bill & Ted Rock Out on PS5 in New Side-Scrolling Arcade Adventure

WaveWitch

@Ken_Kaniff I love me some Bill & Red: Bogus Journey, but does this developer have a smooth track history?

My interest might of peeked more hade it been developed from the guys that did TMNT Shredder's Revenge, Marvel Cosmic Invasion, the upcoming He-man: Dragon Pearl of Destruction & Mighty Morphin Power Ranger's Rita's Rewind. As is, it looks alright I guess?

And we really need a The Real Ghostbusters beatem up(Using Proton guns but with different types of projectiles/sub-weapons). Think Alien Storm, but more optimized and varied for modern times.

Re: Sony Seemingly Winding Down PSVR2 Sales, Gone from USA Store

WaveWitch

@Old-Red
I had the globular cluster mod kit, but because i us prescription lenses, it ended up creating a bit of light breakage inside the headset and it was less comfortable, just because the leather itself is more firm(And more comfortable) vs the stock garbage which squishes in-ward into hard plastic. I found that replacing just the front-head stock rubber instead vs the front piece and back, with the replacement Globular Cluster leather piece did the trick. The fabric based front piece that's also included was pretty awful though.

It still doesn't address PSVR2's main issue, the cheap thin flimsy rubber interface/gasket which provides zero comfort. You can find silicone based interface replacements on Aliexpress & Amazon, but i havent tried them yet.

My Quest 3, with the official Elite Strap and optional Silicone interface accessory is definitely more comfortable(Vs the PSVR2''s stock padding.) PSVR2, out of the box, usually always winds up hurting to wear at about an hour in. It digs into your forehead, including the interface area. Those two need to be replaced stat with better options!

Maybe these VR naysayers that keep trashing VR, thinking it's just some screen on your head, should maybe...Ya know, try the bloody thing to get a gist of how incredibe it is and what it's all about. It's always the same old same old. "VR is a gimick!" Oh ya? What games have you played? "I've never tried VR" sigh. Just ignore them. They want the tech to die off, while completely dismissing the passion and enthusiasm from those who love the platform. Screw that childish attitude.

They're acting like they're going to be rewarded with a badge of honor in the afterlife, if there is one, for melting in their recliners and sticking to playing games with a traditional controller on a Television.

Re: Sony Seemingly Winding Down PSVR2 Sales, Gone from USA Store

WaveWitch

@MrGoodkat
PS comes across like they have some kind of vandetta towards PSVR2, and yes, they're allowed to not like it. But, they forcefully treat it like it's some kind of alienation, like it's this evil boogie man device that's set to destroy traditional gaming.

They've failed to review so many great PSVR2 games in the last year or more > Subside's Makoa Shelf, Roboquest VR, the recent Unmourned, WRATH: Aeon of Ruin etc.

I guess the clicks just aren't there unless they're trashing the platform which is easy work compared to dumping hours into playing quality VR games for review. Anyways, I'm super excited for the upcoming Crystal Pro, if it gets released in earlier 2027. But it's Pimax, so...PCVR is where it's at this days, and that's where I'm heading. Resident Evil Requiem VR here i come, on a 5080 clocked at 90fps with PSVR2, or any headset i wish to use.

Playing Requiem on a Flatscreen failed to win me over. It's a total regression compared to experiencing RE in VR.
You completely lose that sense of scale, level of immersion, visceral feeling, the jump scares completely fail to land vs VR, it's not as fun using Gyro aiming vs Sense motion controls, you just feel boxed in, in what feels like another going through the motions experience. There's zero wow factor, that all resides in VR.

Most VR haters, have no experience whatsoever with VR/MR. They're close minded simpletons that scoff at the technology because it's not how they grew up gaming. They don't know what they're missing. But, to be fair, for the people that have genuinely given Quest 3, PSVR2 or even PCVR a chance, and it's just not for them, that's totally cool! Some people are just prone to motion sickness, or VR is just too terrifying and immersive, maybe they're not too keen on so many games using motion controls or having junk on their head in order to play a game. All fair points!

But to slap it as some silly gimmick, without any experience is beyond cringe. Especially when they trail on about 'bulky heavy headsets' will forever be the default form factor for VR. LOL They clearly haven't been keeping up with VR news, nor have they seen the 2027 Meta VR Glasses. 100g light, in the shape of actual glasses(Using a tethered Cable Puck that's 300g, which clips on to your belt). The FOV is the biggest compromise, at just 70d. But it's going to be great for Immersive 3D movies. James Cameron is already on board.

With Quest 4, if it happens for 2027 or 2028, in order to get it smaller and lighter, at least in the shape of VR 'goggles' with a large enough FOV(110d), they'll have to use an advanced form of Pancake Lenses, and mimick the external cable Puck of Meta's VR Glasses which will cut down 300g of weight since the puck houses the Battery, Processor & Storage. All that's left is the Visor(Steam Frame's visor for example is just 185g not including it's headstrap, battery etc)

Re: Sony Seemingly Winding Down PSVR2 Sales, Gone from USA Store

WaveWitch

@SoulChimera
So many people keep saying there are barely any good VR games, haven't really experienced what PSVR1, PSVR2, Quest 3 & PCVR have to offer. Wild, factoring in the plethora of recent PCVR mods that keep cranking out. Resident Evil Requiem, Titan Fall, Gears of War, Bioshock etc.

There's plenty of amazing experiences. I'd rather have have access to small handful of INcredible VR games than 50 great flatscreen games any day.

Blows me away that people would rather play Resident Evil Requiem, even on a 65" QD-OLED 4K TV, with an amazing Surround sound system, Vs the the finalized PCVR mod with lets say PSVR2, Quest 3 or Steam Frame locked at 90fps, on something like a 5080 PC, if they had access to it. it's a huge investment, i get it. But if the option were readily available, and they didn't sucumb to VR motion sickness, there would be NO turning back. Playing Resident Evil on a TV is just another video game, but in VR it's a whole different ball game. I'm interested in NextLevel entertainment, not another 'going through the motions experience' or what now feels like a regression.

Then again, i sound like a total hyporcite because i still love modern retro stuff that harkens back to the 80's and 90's. They're just more tactile, in and out, challenging and don't require a life time to complete if you're good enough.

Re: Sony Seemingly Winding Down PSVR2 Sales, Gone from USA Store

WaveWitch

@Art_Vandelay
Agreed. I'm not huge into flatscreen gaming anymore, at least on PlayStation. it just feels so played out most of the time. No sense of scale, depth, it's like a painting in motion, with zero wow factor since we're officially now in the land of graphical diminishing returns, with NS2 being the last ticket for Nintendo. Although, i do love me some NewWave retro. That's my bread and butter.

NS2 aside, I'm moving on over to PCVR with PSVR2 & Quest 3, until Crystal Pro arrives, which looks to be what the PSVR3 should of been, minus the form factor(Damn aespheric lenses, but they can at least offer 2x the brightness vs Pancake)

Have you checked out Compound or WRATH VR by any chance? or the Makoa Shelf DLC from Subside? Too many people are passing up on so many wonderful indie VR experiences simply because they're indie. VR when it lands is simply mind blowing.

Some of the gooberheads on here are trashing VR for being big a bulky, as if that will be the 'forever default'. They clearly havent seen 2027 Meta's VR Glasses. The specs and form factor are amazing, but it's biggest compromsie comes with FOV, at just 70d.

VR is like a spiritual successor to the Wii & 3DS. Where as PS5 & NS2, in ways, feel like a regression. TV's still don't have Stereoscopic 3D, sample & hold motion blur even with OLED's, VR still has the best in-class motion controls, and it can simulate both VR and a virtual/S3D Screen. VR feels this amazing little underground secret that keeps evolving, and with so much room for growth. People say it will never take off, but they're just closed minded simpletons. Meta VR Glasses are just 100g light, and look like glasses with a 300g external tetehred puck you clip on your waist. If that form factor or even just some slightly larger could hit about 110d FOV than would offcially cream the weight/form factor barrier.

Re: Sony Seemingly Ends VR Ambitions by Selling Patents to Meta

WaveWitch

@symmetrian
Did you check out Subside + Makoa Shelf(It's one of the greatest showcases for PSVR2)? Compound(Brilliant boomer shooter), WRATH: Aeon of Ruin, MADiSON(Scariest video game of all time), Propogation Parodise Hotel, Moss 2, Vacation Simulator(The Beach section's Ocean floor is such a trip), Resident Evil 8 & 4? There's plenty of great games, but they're 99% indies!

The promise of AAA hybrids unfortunately never came to be, and we obviously didn't get RE7 VR, Astro Bot: RM or Ocean Desicent, and more PSVR1 ports. Heck, Sega just released House of the Dead: Reawakening VR Arcade, and we probably wont get that on PSVR2 either.

It's such a shame! The headset had so much potential. But it's form factor, ring-controllers, cable(etc) all held it back. Sony should of went for Pancake lenses with an RGB QD Mini-LED instead of Fresnel + 'Pentile' OLED(Pentile is less clear than RGB) since Fresnel packs on the weight and bulk. Plus, Ring-less Controllers, option for 6g wireless connectivity to PS5/PS5 Pro. This is where a PSVR2 Version 2 comes into play, but Sony couldn't be bothered taking the risk at this point.

And it just kills me knowing that we didn't get RE Requiem for PSVR2 either. I've had it on the back burner several months now and i refuse to play it flat. Thankfully i'll be able to experience it on PCVR(5080) with the PSVR2 & PCVR adapter, or whatever headset of my choice clocked at 90fps too.

Anyways, we've got Crystal Pro on the way which looks like a total Steam Frame Killer, Meta VR Glasses(hundreds of 3D Movies, Quest 3 library is fully compatible etc) and hopefully Quest 4, and especially PSVR3 + PS6, which would be the most powerful and impressive plug n' play affordable option period vs PCVR which is a massive investment.

Re: Capcom's Classic Console Games Could Be Coming to PS5

WaveWitch

@GirlVersusGame
You're better off playing the Arcade version of Ghouls n' Ghosts in the Capcom Arcade Stadium 1 or 2 Collection(Low latency, great CRT filter options and Cabinet Boarder/wallpaper etc, and the arcade version just looks and sounds better than the Genny' port.) on PS5 or NS1/NS2.

Same thing applies to the original Ghosts n' Goblins Arcade, which is included in one of the two Collections rather than settling for the choppy uglier NES port. one of the few NES games that runs at 30fps. blugh!

Have you checked out Ghosts n' Goblins Resurrection on PS5/NS1 by any chance? It was initially a Nintendo Switch 1 timed exclusive(as was Blaster Master Zero and couple of others), that manged to wiggle it's way onto PS5 around a year later.

The days of 3rd party console exclusives feel like a total rarity these days. They were in total abundance during the 80's, 90's and 2000's. When you strip that away, consoles just wind up losing a bit of their character and identiity.

Re: Capcom's Classic Console Games Could Be Coming to PS5

WaveWitch

Mega Man Soccer. Hah! nice.
Still flabbergasted that they still haven't bothered porting over Mega Man & Bass (Super Famicom version, with english translation) over to modern consoles. It's easily one of the best in the classic series.

But if you have an SNES, CRT and a quality MM&Bass reproduction cart than it wouldn't matter of course.

And I really need to play Gargoyle's Quest 2 and Demon's Crest already. Loved the original GQ on GameBoy, and I remember Demon's Crest being one of the most impression looking SNES games for it's time. My best friend rented it, but i must of went hands on with it for maybe 20-30 minutes tops.

Re: Sony Seemingly Ends VR Ambitions by Selling Patents to Meta

WaveWitch

@symmetrian
Right? Even though I kind of feel like PS5/flat screen gaming can feel a blit played out here and there(not always of course), i don't undermine somebody else's great experience over whichever flatscreen title they had a blast with. It's like pissing on somebody else's happy parade. People love what they love at the end of the day.

But plenty of the VR haters, those who have zero experience with the tech, i'm sure, would love nothing more for the platform to bite the dust because to them it's a foreign alienation-like attck towards how they grew up playing video games, while completely ommitting VR fan's wonderful VR experiences and acting is if they're wrong for enjoying it. They'll slap it with a gimmick because it completely deviates away from a traditional controller & TV screen. That's where it all ends for them, I guess.

It's beyond close minded, childish and simpleton-like, man baby behaviour, and it comes cross like they're partaking in some gate keeping hive minded cult. lol With or without PSVR3, VR is going to thrive with the amount of PCVR mods, The Crystal pro(2027), Quest 4, Steam Frame OLED and even Meta VR Glasses for stand alone etc. VR/MR is inevitable, and will break into the mainstream most likely by the earlier 2030's. It will 100% coincide, or be a companion piece, basically an alternative way,to to play flat screen games. With a virtual mixed reality size adjustable stereoscopic 3D MR screen for ex. S3D and VR makes everything better.

Re: PS6 Costs $200 Less to Make Than Xbox Helix, Snoop Claims

WaveWitch

@11001100110zero
I'm a total PC noob at this point, I don't know speak the language, but thanks for taking the time to explain and fill me in. Appreciate it. I'd be more than happy with PS6-tier power fueling the PSVR3, if one ever came to fruition. But i have to take a different route now since PSVR3 isn't set it stone, PCVR mods are piling up in droves now, i can use whichever headset i desire, and the 5080 rivals the PS6 in power and it's available now.

PSVR3 might not become a thing in another 1-2 years after PS6 arrives anyways going by Sony' spast history with PSVR1 & PSVR2's release dates. Times of the essense and I'm not getting any younger either. Do you think a PS6 Pro would be able to match or rival a PS6 'Pro'?

Yet at the same time, it also comes down to weather certain titles are games are prioritized and optimized with PS6 in mind, that may happent to bug out and perform worse even with a more capable graphics card & CPU. But, i don't plan on using my soon to be PC for flatscreen gaming, just VR, so.

Re: PS6 Costs $200 Less to Make Than Xbox Helix, Snoop Claims

WaveWitch

Just give me 12-Axis Gyro(if it even exists.lol) that completely elminates gyro drift and 100% matches the reliability of the Wii Remote & Sensor bar, if possible, with that ultra smooth 500-1000hz polling rate. Haptics 2, Adaptive Triggers 2, a traditional styled NS2 Pro Controller-like D-pad, get rid of the tacky LED touch pad & speaker lights, multi-colored face button shape accents, and bust out a couple of new unexpected controller innvoations while we're at it.

Also, $1000 US for a PS6, which is about $1500 CAD, doesn't bother me personally in the slightest. That's like 1/3 of what I'd have to pay Vs a pre-built PC with a 5080 & 9800X3D. I'd rather roll with the former and a PSVR3, but neither are here nor there.

Even if the PS6 launches in Nov 2027, that's still around 1 year away, which isn't even worth anticipating, and we all know good and well if PSVR3 actually happens, it might not see the light of day until 2028(best case scenario) or 2029. It took PSVR2 slightly over 2 years to come out after PS5 launched, after all if Sony's past history is any real indication to go by. Things could be different this time around and it could come out sooner than expected. Here's hoping.

Re: Worried About PS6 Price? Next Xbox Could Be as Much as $1,800

WaveWitch

The next XBOX definitely won't support VR or S3D MR Glasses. I guarantee it will be another safe/vanilla predictable spec jump with a generation+ behind controller that's too afraid to get ballsy with the likes of 9+ Axis Gyro, or NextGen Haptics & greater Adaptive Triggers etc.

MS just feels like they have zero identity at this point. PS5 has PSVR2, DualSense Controller Haptics(An evolution of NS1's HD Rumble), Adaptive Triggers and gyro with a 250hz polling rate which is 2x as smooth and responsive than NS1's gyro.

Where as NS2 has '9'-Axis Gyro, HD Rumble 2, Dual HD Rumble 2 Mouses, new Smooth Gliding Analog sticks, and offers hybrid handheld gaming once again. Plus, detachable JCN2's(Better yet Hyperion3 Ultra's) for Wii-like controls.

Owning 3 different consoles is overkill anyways. Right now, my ideal modern gaming set up would be NS2 & PCVR(Using whatever headset i want)

Re: Poll: Would You Pay $1,000 for a PS6?

WaveWitch

@Llamageddon
So what exactly is it about games or the state of modern gaming that he's complaining about? The economy really blows chunks right now, and pricing can often be a tough pill to swallow, but that's still no excuse to steal from somebodelses hard work. Why not just wait for the game to go on sale, or buy it used?

The PS6 is at least 2x as powerful as PS5, will have advanced AI Upscaling, PSSR3, and other feature upgrades with the PS6 controller. How is it surprising that the PS5 may be priced at $1000(US) when you factor in the current price of PS5 Pro?

And a bit random, but PS5's UI interface is soooo dated and cumbersome(Aside from feeling soulless and depressing with the default PS5 UI style and awful 'Dystopion funeral music for dying robots' UI music. It's like Sony's trying to put everybody in a state of depression with that trash. lol

Anyways, the UI itself already feels like it's nearly 2 generations behind Switch 1's. NS1's may feel kind of vanilla in terms of simplicty, but it's so zippity, in and out and wonderfully organized, especially after the recent eshop layout update from last month or so.

Re: Poll: Would You Pay $1,000 for a PS6?

WaveWitch

@Llamageddon
Thieves only have a problem when they become a victom of theft. lol Imagine working full time, busting your butt off as an indie dev with a small team of passionate dedicated and driven artists, pouring their heart and soul into their baby, just to have it stolen/pirated and losing more than half the amount of sales that could of been. Talk about gutting.

So many people don't care until it happens to them. And when it does, than it's a piss party.

Re: Poll: Would You Pay $1,000 for a PS6?

WaveWitch

If PSVR3 is confirmed, absolutely. If not, I'll most likely pass and just stick with PCVR(5080) & Switch 2.
Sony's going to have to do something really innovative this time around, if not VR, to lour me back in.

I've said this before, but Stereoscopic 3D Glasses(MicroOLED or QD Mini-LED) with a size adjustable MR S3D display that turns every single PS6 game you throw at it in S3D(With dev implementation, not Automatic/reinforced), as if you're peeking through a window into the gaming world would totally get be on board.

With the controller, how cool would it be if Sony pushed for lets say 12-Axis Gyro, that would officially bypass any drifting completely, with a 500hz polling rate(Even smoother and more 1:1, instantaneous than 250hz)? Haptics 2 will most likely be a thing, and i wish they'd cream their iconic detached styled rubbery-weird D-pad design and do something more traditional like with NS2 etc etc.

Re: Hellraiser: Revival (PS5) - Faithful Adaptation Let Down by Severe Gameplay Woes

WaveWitch

@GirlVersusGame

And I could of sworn you mentioned earlier that you were more of a Halloween/Michael Myers-gal in regards to the the wide boquet of retro horror slashers. The best one in that franchise, aside from the original at least for me was part III. Bringing back Michael Myers was so redundent because he's such an uninteresting killer.

It would of been so much better had they went with their original vision and created individual original and unique stories for each Halloween sequel. Season of the Which is the real Halloween 2. It's such a good film, Carpenter even holds it in high regard. But it's depressing as heck. It's got one hell of a soundtrack though!

Then you've got Child's Splay, Hellraiser, Sleepaway Camp, Candy Man, and so much more. A bit random, but can you imagine If prime/peak Dario Argento created his on ANOES sequel with Goblin composing the OST? I would of paid top frikkin dollar to see his interpretation!

Re: Hellraiser: Revival (PS5) - Faithful Adaptation Let Down by Severe Gameplay Woes

@GirlVersusGame
You know what? I kind of liked Jason X back in 2002. i enjoyed it more than 8: Jason Takes Manhatten, Most of Jason goes to Hell(That movie shines during the first 1/4 only imo) and Platinum Dunes Remake.

My bread and slasher butter, would definitely be the A Nightmare on Elm Street films. I'm a huge fan of part 3: Dream Warriors and I'll never forget experiencing Freddy's Dead on VHS when it was brand new, and in the now back in 92' . I remember peering out my living room's big window, waiting for my dad's Red Toyota car to zip down the road and pull up in our drive way back from our local Mega Videos with a rental copy of FD. The anticpation was just killing my 7-8 year old self. lol And boy did it live up. Domino's Pizza included haha. Including that epic ANOES death sequence/compilation montage once the credits started rolling.

It's not a fan favourite as everybody knows, by any means, but i loved it. I was just a kid and it felt like it was my freddy movie for my time. Watching the Elm street films always felt right on VHS, and maybe DVD depending on which film. But Blu-ray & 4K? Nadah.

As for FT13nth, i was exposed to part 3 & Jason Goes to Hell when the latter first came out on VHS in the early 90's, but i had not seen the rest of the films, other than curiously gazing at their VHS cover art in the older horror isles at BlockBuster(etc).

It wasn't until my mid 20's when I finally watched them all from beginning to end on DVD, on my spiffy FullScreen 32" Sony WEGA CRT. 4 was my favourite, followed by 2(Loved the cast of characters in that one), 6 was a lot of fun and I'd say it's the definitive FT13nth for spooky Halloween October, meanwhile 7 was heavily censored(But props for trying something more unique with the entire telekenesis-thing) and 5(as much as i like it now. It's the funniest FT13nth and I've grown a whole new appreciation for it) was a collosal let down coming from Part 4.

Are you a fan of the Nightmare films? I still need to buy a bootleg copy of Freddy's Nightmares, which had 2 seasons back in 89' when Freddy went all MTV. I've only seen 2 episodes which were included in that lousier older ANOES Blu-ray Collection, and they were such a good time.

If you're looking for something a bit more cheesy, light, campy & sprinkled with a bit of whimsy. Other than that, that series is practically brand new to me and that's exactly what I'm looking for. New experiences, be it old and new!

My love for the original ANOES films has died down drastically. I over did it. I can't watch the original anymore, I'm so over it. Same thing applies to part 2, even parts of 3, dare I say Freddy's Dead, i can't stand new Nightmare(It felt so squeeky clean and WB), Dreamchild is a mixed bag(Although Dan's uncut death during that motercycle dream sequence in the 4K set is superb). I tend to fall back to the first half-ish of 4: Dream Master.(DVD version only. Because the Blu-ray transfers have duller colder colors)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGSMSuI34Tk&list=RDFGSMSuI34Tk&start_radio=1

I love Tuesday Nights 'Running from this Nightmare' track. The opening to that film, and that goofy beach sequence with Freddy's razor fingers stitched together like a shark fin, blazing through the ocean. lol

Re: Mini Review: Toy Story: Retro Roundup (PS5) - This Fun Toy Box Provides a Nostalgic Buzz

WaveWitch

I'd only buy this for the Genesis version of Toy Story(95). Then again, why bother with all of the emulation lag & disappointing CRT filters, paired with an OLED TV(Sample & hold motion blur), on an overly large 4:3 Aspect ratio, instead of like a 27" Sony CRT Tube TV?

Convience and affordability are in check, but definitely a much crappier way to experience these games.

And yet, i still keep buying many of these retro compilations on Switch. lol Stupid Nostalgia!

I remember getting a burnt copy copy of A Bugs Life, along with Parappa the Rappa, Cool Boarders 2, Rugrats: Search for Reptar and a couple of others.)in the later 90's as a Christmas Eve present, all for PS1. lol Definitely skip A Bugs Life. it truly is a product of it's time, and even then it was very average at best. I can imagine it being torture to the eyes in this day age.

So many 32-bit 3D polygon based titles that graced the Saturn(especially...), PS1 & N64, look soulless and hideous in this day and age. You have to use serious jedi mind tricks and create a 'future' mental blockade and imagine yourself back in the mid to late 90's before the Dreamcast came out to enjoy these. Ya, good luck with that!

Re: Study Finds Almost Half of PS5 Disc Backlash Came from Fake Accounts

WaveWitch

Grifting bait clicking YouTube Pirahna's trying to capitlize on the latest trend or outrage gaming news. Many of them don't even care anyways about PS5 going disc-less. I don't. lol I love 'stuff', sure, but the reality is we don't own anything. In the end, we can't take any of this stuff with us when we bite the dust.

Have fun doing what you love while you're still here with the time you have left, and if that means amassing tons of plastic & cardboard(I'm in the same boat. that brings you plenty of joy and happyness than go to town!

PS6 going digital doesn't phase me in the sligthest, personally. I've been digital with PS since PS4 Pro and i vastly prefer it. I don't like their boring soulless physical media-clutter. The biggest gut punch, at least for me and the nichey' VR crowd will be no PSVR3, or even Stereoscopic 3D Glasses that can project a size adjustable(55", 65" & 77") S3D MicroOLED screen, as if you're peering through a window into the gaming world, with pop included. Either, would get me to buy PS6 day one, but if neither are supported I'm just sticking with Nintendo & PCVR.

I might buy the PS6 controller though if it's packing some cool innovations and use that for PC if all of it's features are supported properly.

Re: Sony Reveals Slick Midnight Black PS5 Model, But It's a Japan Exclusive for Now

WaveWitch

Boring and safe as expected. I actually had a midnight black DualSenes controller and I still have the official midnight black PS5 Slim faceplates.

The Midnight black controller looks good, but soulless. There's no pop or anything to contrast against the all-black finish, simply because the DualSense doesn't have those once iconic almost neon multi-colored 4 Shaped button accents.

I would of given the original white Dualsense, a bright white finish(Instead of it's ugly off greyish-white color), with a glossy black middle exterior, and brought back the multi-colored(Pink, Green, Blue & red)shaped buttons. It would of made the controller look so much more fun and whimsy, but alas. We're living in a corporate minimilistic bland a** hellscape. here's your black or white box and DualShock or XBOX styled controller. It's been this way since the 2010's.

I'll give Sony props though for releasing the Hyperpop DualSense lineup. I wouldn't mind getting all three, but why would when i only ever use my PS5 for PSVR2 like 99% of the time these days. lol

https://assets-prd.ignimgs.com/2026/01/16/ps5-controller-preorders-1768572369404.jpg

And sure, the Sega Genesis(Model 1) may of been nearly all black, but it had those awesome vibrant red controller Accents topped with it's batarang style design(Although i hate the 3-button GEN controller these days, just because of ridged sharp d-pad, and the once snappy buttons are now old and mushy due to the silicone membranes being old as heck.), and that awesome 1989' Sega Genesis logo/font smack dab on the machine and Controller, with an entirely unique futuristic design. Different breed of console designs, back when they were fun, diverse, flashy and totally ballsy.

Re: Castlevania: Belmont's Curse (PS5) - The Classic Series Returns in a Perfectly Fine Metroidvania

WaveWitch

The Art direction is really disappointing. It doesn't look anywhere near as appealing as lets say SOTN, or Dawn of Sorrow. Looks like they drew inspiration from a bargin bin 1 dollar comic that crawled out of the late 2000's. Besides, my MetroidVania days are pretty much over. I'd rather play Curse of the Moon 3 or a prequel, or a brand new traditionalVania that freshens things up instead of being another predictable nostalgia-driven retread. I need that linearity, but something that feels new.

We got Haunted Castle Revisted in the Dominus Collection, but unfortunately the unlimited checkpoint/lives system crippled the challenge. Never once did i ever feel like i was on my toes and had something to lose. It robs the experience of any exhileration, suspense, sense of reward and prevents you from having to re-do stages, to the point of mastering them because lives are infinite. You don't get that oppurtinity.

On the flip side, the remixed OST was wonderful, and i liked it's Castlelvania: The Adventure ReBirth-styled graphical overhaul. Just a few tweaks(Limited Lives, Being able to press R1 to use your Sub-Weapon etc) would of made all the difference, even though it feels painfully formuliac and derivitive in terms of traditional Castlevania games...But to be fair it is technically, what?, like the second Castlevania game ever made(Released back in the late 80's in Arcades) and the remake is trying to stay somewhat faithful to that.

Not a big fan of this one, as is. It has potential, but i highly doubt Konami will ever make those much needed changes. Rondo of Blood(PC Engine CD...Skip the laggy emulated version present in the Castlevania Requiem collection.) is still the Castlevania GOAT imo.

Might want to check out Full House too! All 8 seasons, with the exception of maybe the first are all winners. But don't watch it via' streaming on Netflix or whatever the latest Streaming service it's managed to seep into, since they reduced and altered the shows original frame rate, for the worse, to make it appear more cinematic just so it can 'fit in' with modern day sitcoms.

But by doing so it also introduces weird motion artifacts & jank, plus the image looks overly blurry. It's awful, the same thing happened with Boy Meets World on Disney+....I've got the first season of BMW on DVD and you can't even compare it. On DVD, it's just like i remember it when it broadcasted live on TV, except it's clearer because it's not on cable or VHS. Not sure if Saved By the Bell suffered the same fate, but going for the complete DVD series is always a safe bet, which I used to own before selling 95% of my DVD collection in my mid 30's. Including...Suspiria. Sniffles* lol

I also have the first 3 seasons of Fullhouse on DVD, and they're all presented like they original were when they initially broadcasted on TV in the late 80's & 90's. Except they're clearer thanks to being on DVD while still retaining the shows original 30fps frame rate, which has an almost in-person stage play like presentation. Same thing applies to both Saved by the Bell, Fresh Prince of Bell-Air & Boy Meets World, and many other 80's & 90's sitcoms. Family Matters on the other hand was always 24fps. So there are exceptions.

Being a kid and coming home from elementry school and loading up on junk food, be it microwaving Mcain pizza pockets(When they actually tasted great, unlike the completely altered cheap garbage state they're in now, with their cheap fluffy outside dough and disgusting pizza-speghetti paste in the inside. Pop tarts are terrible now too.)90's Mcdonalds was always a win, or anything fun that we could get our hands on, and being there on time for an episode when it premiered live, with the likes of Saved by the Bell and so much more that was in the now was something else. I'm a total health-freak in terms of my diet now, but when i was kid anything went! lol

Plus, when you're that young you view those actors as the characters they're playing. I don't think any of those actors were really doing anything else beyond SBTB during it's time. So aside frome being a kiddo, that made it all the more easier to suspend your disbelief beyond 100, fully digest it all and believe what you were seeing, rather than catching a glimpse of Tom cruise play Tom cruise over and over again. Every time i see that dude come out with a movie, i make sure to not watch it. The real mission impossible is Tom cruise being able to play a different character other than himself. Sure there are a couple of exceptions, like Interview with the Vampire and whatever else, but they're rare and few and far between.

I wonder how well PSVR2 would of done if Sony had opted for Pancake Lenses(Which would of reduced the size and weight of the headset into a Quest 3), Ring-less Controllers, better stock comfort(The stock interface is awful, including the front forehead silicone padding), and had Astro Bot: Rescue Mission VR, Resident Evil 7 & Ocean Descent right there at launch, with RE9 Requiem VR and more exclusives on the horizon. Plus, most people will not jive with a cable. Having a detachable cable connection, and wireless to PS6 connectivity should of been there. But how do you achieve all of this at an affordable price point. Even Meta has subsidized Quest 3, and that thing initially went for like $679 in 2023 before the economy got icky.

PSVR2's form factor is dinosaur-tier at this point. Heck, it already felt ancient the moment i got my hands on Quest 3 in less than a year later.

The best they could do with PSVR3, is something slightly larger than the 'Dream Air'(under 200g with a solid 110d FOV) with an external cable Puck(housing the wireless battery) and have that wirelessly connect via streaming to PS6.

but eh, PSVR3 will most likely not happen. Sony wont take yet another gamble until VR becomes more mainstreamy' some time in the 2030's. I think PSVR3 is inevitble....At least with PS7. I mean, the Meta VR Glasses(2027) are a landmark in terms of form factor, but it's comprimised purely for VR gaming due it's small 70d FOV. In the future, we'll probably get that form factor with a much larger FOV as technology improves over time. I think this is what Nintendo is waiting for as well before the eventually jump in.

@symmetrian
It's like a hive minded cult. lol Forget that close minded 'think like i do, do as i do' herd mentality. It's pathetic when somebody sacrifices their own individuality to fit in and become a part of 'some thing' VR, imo, is amazing at it's best, and most people that trash it have never experienced it before, let alone the good stuff. I've had PSVR1, PSVR2 and Quest 3, and I've been enjoying the platform on and off for the past 6 years.

I perfectly understand that it's not going to be for everyone though and that's totally fine. Motion sickness can be a thing, the discomfort of sitting up instead of having back support with your couch because most games make use of full-range motion controls and you most importantly you need to look around with your head, can be uncomfortable and taxing for many in just under an hour. Plus you have 'stuff' on your head, and some people just don't like how isolating it can feel. All justifiable, for sure. Ultimately, it's just far more demanding vs chilling on a sofa with a controller staring at a TV.

But ya, If somebody has played a good deal of VR and quality titles(Be it Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, Resident Evil 7 & Village, Subside, just to name a few) and they don't like it, that's totally cool. What i don't like, is when people sh** all over the tech without any experience whatsoever and completely shun out fans of the technology like they're a clan of aliens. it's chilidsh and close minded as hell. They're total simpletons. I can't imagine being that person who who won't accept anything that goes beyond a traditional controller and TV screen. That's where it ends for them i guess.

BTW, this is coming from somebody who adores Retro & NewWave retro games with a traditional controller on a TV, with lets say NS1. That's my bread and butter, but I'm super open minded to all forms of innovation, and I'm willing to give it all a chance. if it lands, it lands, and if it doesn't at least I can say I gave it a proper shot.

Re: Sony Seemingly Ends VR Ambitions by Selling Patents to Meta

@4fold
I'm with ya 100%. If PS6 doesn't support PSVR3, or even Stereoscopic 3D mixed reality glasses that can simulate a size adjustable S3D in your living room, for any PS6 title you throw at it, than I'm most likely out, and on to PC, with whatever VR headset I choose with PS6+ power to match.

It's why i haven't purchased the Switch 2 just yet either. I look at, and in terms of innovation what does it offer over the PS5 Pro? HD Rumble 2, 9-Axis Gyro(Far less drifting, but it still exists and it's a regression vs the Wii remote plus + Sensor bar), Dual mouse HD Rumble 2 Mouses(Might be cool for Mario paint 2 or a WarioWare sequel, but i'll most likely barely use them) and those smooth gliding analog sticks.

And yet, i can't help but imagine how incredible Zelda OOT 3D Remake would be in '3rd' person VR, using the NS2 Pro Controller to play it, even DK Bananza in 3rd person VR, along with Kirby Air Riders, and a first person Metroid Prime 4 VR mode.

As is, i'm restricted to a 2D 55-65" QD-OLEd to play them on. It's frustrating, because back in the 2000's & early 2010's, Nintendo was so experimental and ballsy, the DS Lite, Wii + Virtual Console & launch 3DS were a trio of innovation. yet 9-Axis gyro is still behind the WIi remote in terms of reliability, the 3DS's Stereoscopic 3D & MR have been abondined, and Nintendo still isn't dabbling in VR.

Switch 2 feels like a direct sequal to the Switch 1, instead of feeling we've entered a new world of gaming like we did back in the day with NES, Genesis, TGFX, SNES, Saturn, PS1, N64, Dreamcast etc.

I feel like I'm reinforcing my NS2 excitment, when the reality is I'm more curious as to how well it's 9-Axis gyro & HD Rumble 2 fair more than anything else. Nothing has me excited for the platform. My true excitement lies within VR. PCVR mainly, because it's getting all of these amazing mods(Resident Evil Requiem included, which I'm dying to play), with Quest 3(Using Virtual Desktop, wired) or PSVR2.

Probably going to pass on Steam Frame since i hear it's 6ghz wireless dongle still can't compete against a wired display port connection in terns of image quality, and Quest 3 over wired VD is even slightly better too. SF is an expensive bugger when you factor in the small handful of small upgrades over Q3. I am really excited for the new Crystal Pro though!

This is what the PSVR3 should of been, minus it's Quest 3-like form factor. But it's needed for full 110d FOV. But it shoul weigh less than Steam Frame since it's using an external cabled battery puck that clips on to your waist.

Re: Sony Seemingly Ends VR Ambitions by Selling Patents to Meta

WaveWitch

@Dodoo
No matter how many great games PSVR2 recieves, it's biggest barrier is it's form factor. It's heavy, it's bulky, along with those big dated rings encapsulating the controllers, Tiny sweet spot due to the fresnel lenses, the stock interface/gasket & forehead cushioning are none-exist(it hurts to wear after 40 minutes), it's tetehred only(No 6ghz adapter support), no spacial audio and not even an IPD number based dial.

It's pixels per degree & Pentile based OLED display are dated, and HDR in VR is the biggest scam yet. You want high brightness at 50-100%, you'll get it and it's amazing when you're head is still. But the moment you move it, get ready for motion blur! VR @100 nits SDR brightness = zero motion blur on Steam Frame & Quest 3, although the black levels, contrast & colors are a big step back.

Look at the latest 'Meta VR Glasses' The form factor and spec sheet are amazing. This is the next step in getting VR into the mainstream. but it's big problem is that it's restricted to just 70d FOV which makes it an awful fit for VR 'games'. They would of had to increased the size & weight to maybe 200g+ to accomodate nearly 110d FOV which is the current VR standard. We'll get there in the future no doubt.

Pimax's Dream air however, which are 170g tethered VR goggles with an FOV that's somewhere inbetween 100-110d like Quest 3, but slightly worse. Sony could go that route, with an external cabled' battery puck that clips on to your waist for wireless connectivity to PS6, as long as they're opting for Pancake lenses that is.

But they probably wouldn't even risk that at this point. They're going where the money is, and unfortuantely, VR just isn't it. PCVR is the way to go, with all of the PCVR mods coming out these days, having access to PS6+ tier power and any headset you want to use makes it a no brainer, for those willing to make the investment.

It always cracks me up when these VR naysayers who never experienced the platform, or the good stuff, instantly say 'good riddance'. Ya....Good riddance, lets completely sh** on and undermine what other people are passionate about and are enjoying because that other person has zero interest in the platform. They treat VR like it's alienation on their gaming-hood. lol.

That's like me telling them, flat screen gaming is played out and boring and they're wrong for enjoying it.

Just let me experience the cutscenes in VR with a PCVR mod and I'll be content. And there will be a PCVR mod, Silent Hill Townfall already has one a think.

I would of loved to of seen Dr. Chanard(From Hellraiser II) make his debut in this. I wonder how good of a fight Pinhead and the gang would of put up, if they weren't distracted momentarily, or weakened by remembering who they once were when they were human, right before dr. Haha, the name Spation is indeed ridiculous. Itdoesn't exactly roll off the tongue. Once i read the name i managed to miss pronounce and forget it multiple times through out the day. I miss when Video game companies would get ballsy and actually come out with unique and exciting console names back in the 80's & 90's, be it Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, PlayStation, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, GameBoy etc.

Everything now is just so by the numbers, safe and vanilla these days. Regardless, the name Spation sucks. It's just a riff of Play'Station'. Their VR headset names are much better > Crystal Pro & Dream Air for ex.

Re: Sony Seemingly Ends VR Ambitions by Selling Patents to Meta

WaveWitch

@Dodoo
You gotta give Sony major props for bringing VR to consoles. I always thought Nintendo would of been the first to do it, but it makes sense why they passed when you factor in VR's 2016 bulky heavy form factor and high sticker price. Nintendo's always been about affordability, form factor and ease of use and VR still isn't there yet, not even in 2026. It's made strides since then, especially with the upcoming VR Meta Glasses, but those are completely held back purely for VR because of small 70d FOV.

Light weight(Under 200g)VR Goggles with an external cable Puck(Housing the Battery) that wirelessly connects to a power console(PS6, Switch 2) would be the way to fly at this point, but still a big gamble nonetheless.

@Grumblevolcano
No Requiem on PSVR2 was the biggest gut punch ever. I've still held off since it's debut back in Feb, and i'm going nutty having left it this long on the back burner, in hopes of a PSVR2 version coming to fruition. Time to throw in the towel I guess! I held off almost 8 months for both RE Village VR & RE4R to arrive on PSVR2, but we knew they were both coming, when PSVR2 was fresh out of the oven.

The PCVR mod of Requiem i hear is incredible, and it's even better than the official RE Village Capcom VR mod, simply because you can run Requiem in VR at 90fps on PSVR2(Using a PCVR adapter) at 2K per eye. So say goodbye to reprojection/motion duplication. Or if you use Quest 3, you'll get much better clarity thanks to it's pancake lenses, 25 ppd, no mura, it's rgb display is clearer(etc)

PCVR is the place to be for VR run now, with better headsets, far more power at your disposal and with so many PCVR mods coming out(With the help of AI), including PSVR1 ports like Astro Bot Rescue Mission and more.

Problem is, PC is a huge investment, and you'll need at least 16GB of VRAM, ala' the 5070 Ti to handle PCVR mods properly. That will run you just over 3 grand(cad).

Re: Sony Seemingly Ends VR Ambitions by Selling Patents to Meta

WaveWitch

@Alps_Stranger
I hear ya. It's bizarre that Sony never decided to support even 72hz/fps, because on Quest 3, there's zero motion duplication/reprojection at 72fps. You have to hit 90fps on PSVR2 to bypass the effect.

Did you try out Resident Evil Village VR by any chance? Those VR Cutscenes are wildly impressive. Even with some of the dated specs of PSVR2(Fresnel Lenses, low PPD, heavy mura etc) and lack of power coming from base PS5. RE Village and RE4R especially are such visually demanding games. Only PS6 power would be able to get both running at 72-90fps and with higher resolution. PS5 Pro isn't enough, even if it was supported for better VR opimization.

You can re-experience RE Village on PCVR(thanks to preydog & Talessman's mod) @90fps without reprojection, higher resolution + SuperSampling with PSVR2 using a PCVR adapter, or Quest 3(Which will give you much better overall clarity for a handful of reasons, but it will trail behind PSVR2 in terms of blacks/contrast, color and 3D depth.)

Re: Sony Seemingly Ends VR Ambitions by Selling Patents to Meta

WaveWitch

My eye is on the new Crystal Pro & Pimax Spation(Which slightly edges out the PS6 in power). This is what the PSVR3 could of been. 2880x2880 per eye, 35 PPD, QD Mini-LED display(Much better than Quest 3 & Steam Frame's), 60ghz wireless(Rivaling Steam Frame, and also offers display port), ring-less controllers that form into one traditional controller, etc.

But all we've seen are renders and specs, with no solid release date in site. Hopefully it gets released in the first half of 2027. They'll be hosting an event and allowing people to go hands on with the headset, controllers & Spation around December this year at least.

Not all that interested in getting a PS6 now, but if Sony injects some note worthy innovations(Stereoscopic 3D mixed Reality Glasses for example) I'll probably jump on board. Once VR eventually takes off into the mainstream, Sony will absolutely jump back in with PS7. But that's a longgggg ways off. That's neither here nor there. Until then, before Crystal Pro releases, I'll be using Quest 3(Virtual Desktop, wired) for PCVR(5070 Ti) when i eventually scrounge up the cash and get one.

Based on the article, i think it's finally safe to say that PS6 will NOT be supporting PSVR3....heck, it may not even support PSVR2 backwards compatibility. But I'm ok with that, since PSVR2 in ways, is starting to feel like a bit fo a dinosaur. Time to move forward boils and ghouls!

Re: I Suppose PlayStation-Themed Blind Boxes Were Only a Matter of Time

WaveWitch

@GirlVersusGame
Yup! Pogs released some time back in the mid 90's. They were huge back in elementry school when i was in grade 5-6-ish. It was absolutely gutting though, when you'd spend money on the official pogs(Which were overrated imo) or any quality themed pog for that matter(Think Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Garfield & Friends, Spawn, etc) and you lost a game to some kid at school who used the most dirt cheap off-brand worn out pogs you could possibly find. Even when you won it still felt like you lost. lol

The worst thing about pogs is when you'd use metal slammers(The official pogs used plastic slammers, but plastic wasn't always ideal since they weren't packing enough weight to flip the pogs properly unless you were packing Macho Man-Hulk Hogan guns.) and it would rebound off the pogs, or ground, and hit you straight in the forehead. Metal Slammers would also damage the pogs over time too. Too much wear and tear. Playing with quality pogs, indoors, with plastic slammers with the official pog Stadium set was ideal.

The pog phase must of lastest just 1-2 years on my end. It was quick, but pretty enjoyable while it lasted. I had pog binders full of different themed pogs, but with like nearly everything you get into growing up, it comes to a point where you let it all go and move on to the next thing. before that, Creepy Crawlers were huge back in 92, Nickelodeon's GAK, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers took the world by storm in 93, The DIC NA dub of Sailor Moon debuts on YTV in 95', I could go on and on. So much quality entertainment back then.

I want stereoscopic 3D(Glassless or glasses) to make a comback with modern 4K Glossy QD-OLED TV's. That would actually get me excited for flatscreen gaming again.

PSVR3 especially. But if neither happen, I'll most likely be skipping PS6 and getting a PC PS6 powered adjacent and just use Steam Frame and hopefully Quest 4 which should 1UP for the former in Q4 2027 or 2028.

My ideal modern gaming set up as of now would be NS2(on Glossy 65" QD-OLED TV) and PCVR(5070 Ti, using Steam Frame, until Quest 4 drops.) Still, it's always exciting seeing the next big console unveil and new innovations that trickle inside the controllers.

12-Axis Gyro, if possible that completely eliminates drifting with a 500hz polling rate would be awesome, including Haptics 2, Adaptive Triggers 2, no tacky Touch pad & Speaker lights, Smooth gliding Analog sticks, the ability to switch between digital & Analog triggers with a switch, and a couple of new note worthy innovations that we've never seen before. Plus, bring back PlayStations iconic multi-colored button shaped Accents.

I never liked the DS4 Or DuelSense's touch pad either. It worked great for Astro Bot Rescue Mission in VR, but for everything else it just feels a bit tacky, unless I'm finger-swiping Shurikens. Console power wise, 40 teraflops translates to 20 apparantly in PS6's case, PSSR3, AI Upscaling, greater CPU & Rasterization I'm guessing will make it 2.5-3x as powerful as a base PS5. But i don't know, native 4K, more 120fps support and greater graphics won't be enough to get me back on board. I need VR & S3D in order for that to happen.

I'll happily play this while listening to Berlin - Take my Breath playing away in the background. lol The lack of music I can imagine completely hinders the vibe and fun factor. What's a racer without any music?

Also, i want a 3rd person & First person VR mode. one can dream. It's fun to live in my head. lol I mean, realistically, PCVR Modders will most likely get on it when you factor in just how many PCVR mods, with the help of AI are coming to fruition these days.

@MARl0
Right? I look at Zelda OOT Remake on NS2...And it even feels like Nintendo has officially hit a wall of graphical diminishing returns. It looks so beautiful and more than what i could of asked for. I don't need a better looking zelda than that. If that game ran on PS5 Pro it would nail a native 4K at least, but on NS2(PS4 Pro+) it's probably running at dynamic 900p or 1080 best case scenario.

More power however is much needed for either PSVR3(If it actually happens) or MRGlases with Stereoscopic 3D(Since 2x the resolution needs to be split for each eye).

Re: Rumour: PS6 Hardware Complete, Double the Power of PS5 with Handheld Model

WaveWitch

I don't know if I'll bite the bullet this time around, unless Sony does PSVR3, or at least offers Stereoscopic 3D MR Glasses to S3D-ify any flatscreen title you throw it's way. If not, I'd rather just get a PC with the same horse power, and use the PS6 controller on that, which gives me access to Steam Frame & Meta VR Glasses for PCVR.

40 terfaflops is pretty much a 5070 Ti. Damn! That's 4x the amount of a base PS5...But ya, another big pet peeve i have with modern display technology, including QD-OLED/OLED is that pesky motion blur. it really tarnishes and degrades the experience. But when i game at 120fps, it reduces the motion blur by 50% and makes a world of a difference.

And ultimately is about 25% away from being as good as the best plasma's, and 50% vs CRT. Without 120fps, motion clarity is awful! Wish these TV manufactures would finally adress this properly by developing internal high end Black frame insertion, instead of having to by thousand dollar external devices to get the job done, like with RetroTINK4K.

PS6 Controller wishlist >

  • Haptics 2
  • Adaptive Triggers 2
  • A traditional styled D-pad - (time to ditch the detached-style already)
  • Analog/Digital trigger 'switching'
  • Smooth Gliding Analog sticks similar to the NS2 Pro Controller.
  • No tacky touch pad lights or big orange speaker light
  • New Innovation or two
  • 500hz Polling rate, for even more 1:1 instantaneous Gyro aiming and lower latency
  • 12-Axis gyro, if possible with ZERO drift that finally replicates the accuracy/reliability of the Wii remote + Sensor Bar. At the very least they'll use NS2's 9-Axis, but with a higher 500hz polling rate.

Aesthetically, i really hope Sony gets a bit more funky and ballsy and pushes for a more 90's-esque aesthetic for PS6's console & controller design, like they did with the gorgeous and incredibly unique PS1 when that dropped back in 95'
Instead of another black or white box looking thing. And bring back multi-colored button accents. Even if they're different colors this time around, be it yellow, purple etc.

@GirlVersusGame
I've gotta be honest. I've got zero interest in politics. I'm all about art/entertainment. I couldn't even tell you the difference from the left and the right haha. Politics weren't even discussed in our home growing up. We were middle class and my parents never struggled once, they held their jobs down for decades. I got lucky and blessed with an amazing childhood, 2 great parents(Although my little brother was a hellion.) during an amazing time that i wouldn't trade for anything.

My adult years on the other hand have been very hit and miss unfortunately. My world is heck of a lot smaller than what it used to be, but this tends to be the case for many adults.

Also, we weren't nearly force fed or smothered by multiple news outlets scattered through out YouTube or the internet like we are now. I think we may of had like 2-3 news stations just to catch up with the news(At least with my parents) that would appear at certain times throughout the day that you had to be there on the dime when it broadcasted live. With 28 channels(29 if you had MTV....Beavis & Butt-head back in 93 for ex was glorious.

But ya, my brother and I were too busy thinking about cartoons, sports, video games, movies, board games, toys, rollerbloading, riding bikes, going to the movie theatre, the roller rinks, Mall shopping, arcades, biking it down to the corner store to load up on junkfood, swimming/indoor/outdoor water parks, hanging out with friends and cousins, the anticipation leading into Halloween, Christmas's & Birth-days etc. Like they say, there's nothing like having your youth.

Plus I don't recal anybody in our family ever discussing politics, and we had two huge families coming from both sides. I was oblivious to it all. Back then, you couldn't even say 'damn' on telivision and we weren't exposed to anything gruesome on TV. You had to go to the video store for that obviously. it was a far more innocent time that allowed most of us to retain and hold on to our innocence a lot longer compared to what the kids are exposed to today at the touch of a button.

I dont recal politics even being discusssed amongst students in highschool or even the college I went to. Nobody and i mean nobody talked about the big P. We were too busy talking about entertainment, poking fun at each other, hitting on girls etc. Highschool in the late 90's almost felt like the movie Superbad, minus the late 90's. They did such a fantastic job at capturing the awkwardness of many high school students, unlike 90210 in the early 90's. Loved that show btw. lol

And weren't you saying that you lead more of an isolated life style? Do you prefer your alone time and sollitude? Being at peace without any negativity and toxiicity being thrown your way can be oh so addicting. And I too am a bit eccentric(Being artsy fartsy and all, it comes with the territory). Somebody commented on one of your earliest posts and mentioned 'ignorance can be bliss' in regards to your situation. And they're right.

There's so much hate and negativity in the world we live in today that can easily break people down and rob them of that child-like wonderment and individuality. It's all about finding the right tribe of people that are actually trying to build you up, ,instead of those that are secretly competing against you and rooting for your downfall. Being alone when you are, allows you to grow, find yourself, and to embrace who you truly are.

The first half of CV, just everything that took place before the Antarctic base was fanfrikkintastic. The environments haven't stood the test of time though, and they look pretty bland vs the prerendered ones that came before it in the RE Trilogy. But prerendered = static JPEG looking images, vs the real-time cinematic camera panning 3D ones in CV had their perks.

Can't wait for RE Veronica/Remake...I'll most likely just play the PCVR mod with Steam Frame, which should be available just a month after the flatscreen Steam version releases, just like the PCVR mod for Requiem was, thanks to Praydog & Talessman.

Capcom says they plan on releasing a new RE game every year. Which means, RE Zero Remake is most likely next in line, and it's probably getting developed for PS6.

Nice! I think 36" was the largest Direct-View CRT's got, than you had to step it up to those lousier reprojection CRT's if you wanted something larger which weighed as much as a T-Rex's head.

Gaming on CRT's, feels instantaenous. You feel like you're one with the controller thanks to having zero lag, and the motion clarity is still the cream of the crop. But anything over 27" is a two man job for sure! But once you get it set up in your place, if you do have the room, than weight becomes irrelevant....Until it's moving day.

The JVC-D series was another solid CRT, which released back in 1999". We had the 32" model in our living room, just in time for the incredible Sega Dreamcast summer launch.

That was truly the last video game console to ever blow me away coming from Saturn, PS1 & N64. Such a massive generational leap in power, the NA(orange swirl) console & controller design were superb, the VMU was super neat, it just felt so ahead of it's time. Soul Calibur was mind blowing, House of the Dead 2, Power Stone, Sonic Adventure and more.

Ya, going with the flow and living in the now in regards to sticking with lets say NS2 or PS5 Pro bypasses all of that retro baggage which can lead to stress, you save space and a butt load of money, and allows you to focus and hone in on new experiences. it's that level of simplicty of rocking with what's in the now just as we were back in the 80's & 90's. We always sold our older consoles and games and put them towards the latest and greatest.

As much as i love retro, it's never the same. You can't recreate that perfect storm for numerous reasons. The people that you loved way back when may no longer be with you, You were a lot younger, the world/pop culture was vastly different, what you were playing was cutting edge and in the now.

As much as i love 80's & 90's retro gaming, it can painful to go back for the reasons i stated above. I think the best way to jump back into the games that you grew up with and loved is with your kids or nieces if you have them and that's if they're actually interested, or the people you grew up playing them with. I tend to flip flop myself. I still love buying retro-stuff from my childhood, but i tend to focus on modern consoles(NS2 & PS5 Pro + PSVR2), and there's pleny of amazing new wave/faux retro titles coming out.

Think Blazing Chrome, Shovel Knight, Super Mario Wonder, Curse of the Moon, Bomb Chicken and so much more.
Now if you'll exuse me, i gotta go bounce on eBay, score a Sega Model 1 Genesis with a copy of Ghostbusters & Michael Jackson's Moonwalker.

I agree with you on YouTube. I'm discovering 80's music that i would of never found out about otherwise if it weren't for the platform, period. You can watch compilations of 80s/90s commercials as well, recorded TV broadcasts stringed with Cartoons, commercials, you name it etc. If you YT didn't exist, all of that stuff probably would of been shoved on some website or potentially lost forever.

As far as modern OLED TV's go. Motion clarity is the technologies achilies heel(It's even worse for LED's, although they have less film judder), no doubt. Sample and hold motion blur is the name of the game and it's terrible compared to the CRT's we grew up with in the 80's, 90's & early to mid 2000's.

CRT's on average had a 1ms motion persistence, which essentially gives you blur-free motion clarity(OLED is too high at 16ms). Fast forward to OLED, and everything turns to a blurry mush fest once things start moving beyond a snails pace. It's like gaming though the eyes of a drunktard, and movies look artifiical in motion.

When i bounce back to plasma & especially CRT, movies 'look' like movies. But on OLED, not so much. You lose appreciation for what you're watching, because the motion blurs and obscures detail. OLED Black levels and brightness are terrific, and 4K allows you to go bigger, but the motion leaves a lot to be desired. And they suffer with some wild shadow detail crushing, and the chance of burn-in, like plasma. I had a far better time watching movies on my panasonic Plasma before it bit the dust. The motion was on another level, and it gave me a far greater appreciation for what i was watching, but i can equally say the same thing about QD-OLED, because of the true blacks & higher brightness. It's all personal preference in the end, neither tech is perfect.

The best TV i ever owned, especially for it's time, was a 2006 32" FullScreen Sony WEGA Trinitron SD CRT(using component cables). I primarly used that for DVD's, GameCube & Wii(Plus the Virtual Console). it was amazing. Perfect motion, Colors that rival WOLED, no shadow detail crushing, good enough black levels and zero input lag. I'm glad i grew up watching movies on VHS, watching TV and playing games on CRT. 4K is overrated for film unless you're shooting for 77" and above anyways.

That aside, the best overal current TV tech on the market are Samsung's glossy 'QD'-OLED's. Like last years S90F, or the S90D from 2024. Tandem OLED is an improvement over WOLED color, but QD-OLED is still the best, easily. But unfortunately, QD-OLED costs more to manufacture(It's plasma all over again.) and Samsung isn't selling quite as much as LG's WOLED's.

I hear Sony is bailing on QD-OLED for the reasons above, even though it's the best TV tech there is right now, and possibly Samsung(They're sticking with QD-OLED monitors instead).
Tandem OLED seems like the best middle ground solution for now until Micro-LED's arrive and are more affortible.

But ya, OLED motion sucks. lol At least when you game at 120fps, it removes 50% of the motion blur. It gets you half way there compared to a CRT, and 75% there compared to the best plasma's ever made. The 50% cut makes games look that much more playable. But 120fps is a luxory. Wish we could regain the glory days of CRT motion clarity, and for QD-OLED TV's to get stereoscopic 3D.

If i can't get summertime tropical beach vibes, than I'd usually rather just homebody it up! And I'm trailing a bit off topic here(I'm caffienated, so why not. lol), but I seriously cannot stand the modern times in NA. I'm not one to be fully yelling at the clouds, because there are certain things that i do love about the now(insert Video games, VR/MR, we're still getting some pretty good horror movies sprinkled here and there, you can literally find action figures based on anything these days, internet forums still exist as niche as they are, and i love how YT can be used as a nostalgic time machine for commercials, music videos, and more.) >

And I try and be optimistic and positive as much as possible, focusing on the things that I'm passionate about and that bring me joy, just as anybody should be doing.

But eh, Pop culture feels sooo dystopian and bleak compared to the later 80's & early to mid 90's. It was a completely different world back then to how it is now. My 2005+ memories are now completely overshadowing my late 80's & 90's memories. The passage of time will do that. lol The magic slips & fades.

But at least when you're at home, you can just build and create your own sanctuary and surround yourself with the things that you love. And really, we went from killer Saved by the Bell-like neon colored fun fashion, wild big hair & earings, amazing pop music that had so much soul, larger than life imaginative commercials, and more....To mop headed teens wearing mostly dark clothing, tatoo's, big beards, strapped with a smart phone listening to soul sucking trap rap.

Straight up, if somebody gave you access to a time machine and you had the oppurtinity to blast back to the late 80's & earlier 90's in NA or the UK, you would of had an absolute blast!

And as far fishing games go, have you tried Sega Bass & Marine(99') fishing for Dreamcast, with the official fishing rod accessory? Those were my two holy grails way back in the day. lol The 'trees and boats' quote was from Olive reed when he was interigated and mocked by letterman back in the late 80's btw.

I couldn't care less about a 1:1 live action adaption of RE at this point. it would never live up to the games, unless they opted for a high budget 10 episode-something series via streaming.

The idea of opting for a brand new original story within the RE universe, similar to what RE7 did for example was a smarter move on Greggor's end. There's a lot more left to the imagination and we have no idea where these characters are headed.

I've got no interest seeing RE's inconic veteran characters ever stumbling into an RE movie again, unless it's a cameo.
It's more fun when you're dealing with regular people that have basically stumbled or plummeted into a nightmare. New characters, new settings, new antoginists, new monsters(etc) aken to some of SD Perry's RE novels.
