Surely the solution instead of releasing a definitive edition which original owners are left out of, is to offer an upgrade offer.

However, the REAL problem is the perception that the launch version is not the 'full version' of the game, so instead of revising the original game it's better to offer a new, follow-up adventure.

It’s a made for mobile game so I understand why Sony didn’t want it to compete with its own Horizon multiplayer game. But a lot of the reaction to the Korean character models has been positive.

It’s going to be a branded PlayStation monitor but it won’t even be able to display PS5 games at their best because it’s not even 4K. And yes you can see the difference even on a 27” monitor. It seems a shortsighted move.

I don’t know if it was dynamic pricing or not but once I saw Forza Horizon 5 for £24.99 and I bought it immediately.
Another time I saw Gears of War for £24.99 and I didn’t get it, and the next time I saw it, it was £29.99.

Bullfrog would probably have succeeded better if managed by Sony rather than Phil Spencer. Now you have other studios profiting from the legacy of the Theme games his team created.

@kailun I do get what @Dalamar is saying, he means the third release from the studio is a remake of the first. I recently bought from PSN the second game Yooka-Laylee and The Impossible Lair, although I haven’t played much of it.

Here in 2025 I agree there's no real need for a PS6. However in 2028 I think I will feel differently.

I would guess that it would work similar to NMS with some kind of light speed /faster travel option!

The trailers depicted it as an open world (open planet) game but in fact it was a load to move between all the areas. The spacecraft was just an illusion, decoration. Players wanted to emulate No Man’s Sky gameplay of get in your ship and fly anywhere.

I’ve only played the start of Starfield on Xbox, but would love to play this new revised game.

The other story about the PlayStation job listing mentions ‘optimising title profitability.’ I think this could mean, making more money out of an IP by porting it to other platforms.

If Sony does start releasing single player games on other platforms I think The Last of Us might be first.

I'm not one of those people who hate Jim Ryan, but he is responsible for the half-hearted launch. PlayStation was releasing a brand new hardware product and the only thing it did to promote the launch was a blog post! There should have at least been a 30 minute State of Play going through its capabilities and highlighting games. People want to be sold to, and it would've helped create a greater launch momentum. Maybe Sony should wait until the PS7 generation to launch another.

This Xbox Showcase revealed almost all non-indie games would also be released on PS5 with the logo viewable. A sign of the times that Xbox has really gone third party.

I 100% agree. There is no need to be releasing a dead disc. It’s something I have thought about that Push Square has the influence to make Sony listen and set rules for all publishers.

I think it’s relevant to share the detail that 96% of game sales physical in the UK are on PS5.

Why not make it mandatory for Xbox players? As Microsoft does with its sign on for PlayStation players.

This just goes to show why EXCLUSIVES matter (and yes I know it's not exclusive but in Japan it effectively is, until Switch 2). PS5 did 4x its sales of 24,650 units sales in December (source: Gematsu).

When a game is so desired people will buy a brand new console just to play it.

The high preorders is a strong sign that Halo:MCC is coming this year.

I think Microsoft is testing the waters to see how high it can go with pricing for PlayStation users.

@DiscoStuUK Yep. The last episode was so rushed it lost the emotional weight of the game’s ending. Not enough infected in every episode. I get that the game was taken to another level by the quiet moments, but quiet moments without enough action or danger diminishes them.

I liked the ethereal music for a bit after I first bought my PS5 but turned it off soon after. Recently I even turned off the menu clicks.

FFVII Rebirth launched just 7 months after FFXVI.
There will have been an overlap of customers and buying two huge FF games and then completing them would’ve been too much for some people. The games should have been better spaced out.

@nessisonett There was no restriction or console exclusive arrangement to keep it off Xbox, however the reason it hasn’t been released there is because Black Myth is resource intensive, and Microsoft’s Series X/S parity clause meant a Series S version could not be completed in time for launch.

@Frmknst There’s a joy to be had from seeing old favourites but Obi-wan pretty much killed it for me. I will agree with you on Andor, I was surprised that I found it superb and it demonstrated what an original story in the universe could be.

The Disney sequels to Star Wars were sacrilege - however I’m looking forward to giving the Lego game a go. I have fond memories of playing Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga on 360 back before the characters could speak!
