I love the original Broken Sword, I'm glad I waited for this.
Also, Star Wars Outlaws, I wasn't ever going to buy it because I've lost faith in so much of the Disney-era content, but I will give it a go at some point.
@get2sammyb There is nothing wrong with Hookshot staff being supportive of / members of the LGBTQ+ communities. But there is something wrong with trying to shame people for not giving Mixtape the highest praise. This is a disconnect that can alienate YOUR most loyal people in your community.
Much of the games media is supportive of LGBTQ+ causes. Likewise much of the games media was critical of Hogwarts Legacy for being, in their eyes, anti-trans. It's okay for individual reviewers to have a connection to or to support causes, but the concern is that the games media votes, not on the quality of a game, but on how the cause matches with their ideological values.
I understand and share the concerns about AI being used to replace the uniqueness of human creativity. Hopefully the big publishers put in place systems so costs are not prioritised over real artists.
However I am disappointed with the kneejerk vitriol about any use of AI. Consoles are computers, machines that use cutting edge technology, AI is the next phase. How can you seriously want to play games and then demand that its newest innovation be abandoned?
GTA VI can't come quick enough for Sony - and by extension the entire gaming industry. The game will boost console sales and the bigger install base will have a positive effect on the wider games market as more sales are made.
I believe companies like Sony have to be honest with the statements it makes during fiscal briefings.
So, we are now at the half way point of 2026 is it realistic that it can start and ramp up production of a new console (and also get all the third party developers on board with games) in time for a Christmas 2027 release?
If Sony delays production for components to be cheaper, will it also update the spec so that it is improved or will it retain the original planned PS6 spec?
When will PS6 most likely release, Christmas 2028?
This is Shuhei Yoshida’s most open interview - he’s revealed so much about what was happening behind the scenes. It turns out Jim Ryan WAS behind the push for live service games! And Shuhei had proven experience and is strong willed so he disagreed with Ryan - at his cost. I thought Jim Ryan was okay but how dare he demote such a talented man! Personality clashes is why Shawn Layton left too.
Hopefully PlayStation behind the scenes is steering the ship back.
Other devs ship a game and all their staff then seem to have left for a holiday! Pearl Abyss launched Crimson Desert and seemingly have a full roster working on meaty patches with game improvements.
Compare with the recent launch of Starfield, there are widespread reports of crashes, Bethesda knows the cause, but it still hasn’t fixed it.
What Pearl Abyss is doing right is treating post-launch support as important to support people who’ve already paid, post launch isn’t just an afterthought!
@LiamCroft thanks for the explanations about the gameplay. I love Bethesda RPGs and even played about 2 hours of Starfield when it released. It’s disappointing to learn it doesn’t have that go anywhere sense of the other titles and is more gamey and tasks-based. Still, I believe I have it pre installed and am looking forward to playing it as soon as I finish Ghost of Yotei - hopefully soon!
I loved the rain effects in DriveClub and it felt good to drive too! But overall it just was a bit boring to play. I loved the Motorstorm games which felt so dynamic and kinetic. It’s a shame the dev team was dissolved although I have hope of another Motorstorm game!
Why is Microsoft releasing this just days before Starfield? Perhaps the thinking is that they appeal to different audiences. I’d love to play it but will wait.
It’s a big price increase for PS5 from launch to now. But maybe people looking to buy will see the price as one off and worth it? People don’t complain about the high price of smartphones so if the desire the expensive price might not deter purchases except from casual/ spontaneous buyers.
By all accounts this isn't a very good game, it's an indie game lacking polish. The Push Square review gives it 4/10, the low score is a clear recommendation to NOT buy it. However I don't understand why some people are criticising other players for not being interested in it; if you've bought it, paid money, played it and are enjoying it, then you have every right to express your enjoyment! However, if you haven't bought it and played it, you do not have hands-on experience so it is disingenuous to celebrate it.
@nomither6 I've heard this a lot online, that now the game is going to be released on PS5, PlayStation fans have stopped being critical and are now praising it. However, I remember the Starfield release, I even played it a bit, and the majority of the criticism was from PC and Xbox players and content creators who felt disappointed because the game did not live up to the promises made. Also, that the game relied on fast travel and did not have a proper space travel system - which is what the Free Lanes update will address.
If PSN name is removed what will you say the next time there is a technical problem, 'the PlayStation Online outage has stabilised?' I think PSN is a good description of the network infrastructure but can see why it might not be needed as branding.
The name is the least important part, the real question is what happens if PlayStation Online offers many different content types; gaming, movies, anime, does this make it better value or does the weakest element degrade the whole service and dilute its messaging?
In cases like this, would it be acceptable for a PlayStation website to review the PC version, or ‘preview’ it (don’t give a score) ? This would be to give a review on the gameplay, but obviously not PS5 performance. Then that way Push Square can be in on the conversation about what the game is like to play until its PS5 review is up.
@lazarus11 hi, the update wasn’t there when I first looked but it is now! I’ve been playing Ghost of Yotei so i wonder if I will see a difference with this!
I suspect Sony will release PSSR2 patches for its major first party games like Ghost of Yotei, God of War Ragnarok and Gran Turismo - but it really should’ve had them all ready for launch.
I have a suspicion that this will play like a single-player MMO, many different missions but a lack of a cohesive narrative. It looks so beautiful so I do hope there is more to it.
If I get the game then I’ll choose quality to enjoy the sumptuous landscapes! But only if it feels like it’s chugging in combat then I will go for performance. 😊
Two RPGs in the same month? And in the month when mega-fantasy RPG-ish game Crimson Dessert is released? If true it's folly as Sony should be coordinating with all its departments.
@AverageGamer As Microsoft explained during the ABK FTC appeal, consoles are NOT the same as the iPhone, Android or PC ecosystems. This is because the consoles are traditionally sold at a lost, and having a closed platform allows them to make-up their losses.
Oh my, this doesn't look very good! It looks like a BBC production of a children’s novel like Five Children and It or Narnia, very amateur dramatic. The kid, I don’t mean to be unkind, doesn’t look quite right, nor does Kratos. If most of the backgrounds are CGI this will just spoil any kind of illusion. I suspect this will make The Last Of Us TV series look like The Godfather.
I wonder if Jason Schreier is only saying this because he heard Digital Foundry’s John Linnerman speculate about this first?
The Ghost of Yotei release date on PC will give us an indication as to whether there’s been a change. If it’s released approximately after the PS5 version then it may indicate no change.
Of course the creator of the Kratos character and major IP’s views matter. No one has to agree with him, but why are so many people running defence for Sony? It’s because the creator understands the character best.
@Slayer25c I do make up my own mind! But the community shouldn't attack other players because they aren't hyped for a game like they are.
I love the Greek God of War games but I don't generally play Metrovania style games or pixel art games. I will get around to this but when the price drops from £25.
David Jaffe knows original Kratos better than anyone and I respect his opinion. He’s blunt and he doesn’t toe the company line but his observations on games are solid.
The reason I didn’t immediately buy the game is because the American 90210 accent in the trailer was immersion breaking.
I was questioning why Sony would release this so close to the rumoured PS6 release, just one year before. And it might be that this will also be able to stream PS6 games - there’s no reason why’d it couldn’t.
Sounds like a great idea to me. But one that is probably too late as many websites and magazines have shut down because the reviewers had already lost the trust of their readers.
Jason Schreier has a pet peeve - crunch, and he believes always covering it bestows him some kind of honour. However, if this game is at least a year and a half away, then any extra time the staff are doing is NOT crunch!

Re: Poll: Sony's Killing Its PS5 PC Ports - But Do You Agree with Its Decision?
Sony’s made the right decision.
I bought a Switch 2 for Nintendo exclusive games including Zelda - but if those games were released on PS5 I wouldn’t have.
With all Xbox games coming to PS5 there’s no need to buy a Series X or S to play Halo, Gears or Forza.
