Re: Why Is Everyone Acting So Weird About PS5 Game Mixtape?

VenomUK

@RatmCky I couldn’t have said it better.

@get2sammyb There is nothing wrong with Hookshot staff being supportive of / members of the LGBTQ+ communities. But there is something wrong with trying to shame people for not giving Mixtape the highest praise. This is a disconnect that can alienate YOUR most loyal people in your community.

Re: Why Is Everyone Acting So Weird About PS5 Game Mixtape?

Much of the games media is supportive of LGBTQ+ causes. Likewise much of the games media was critical of Hogwarts Legacy for being, in their eyes, anti-trans. It's okay for individual reviewers to have a connection to or to support causes, but the concern is that the games media votes, not on the quality of a game, but on how the cause matches with their ideological values.

Re: PlayStation's AI Push Raises a Bigger Question: Where Do You Draw the Line?

VenomUK

I understand and share the concerns about AI being used to replace the uniqueness of human creativity. Hopefully the big publishers put in place systems so costs are not prioritised over real artists.

However I am disappointed with the kneejerk vitriol about any use of AI. Consoles are computers, machines that use cutting edge technology, AI is the next phase. How can you seriously want to play games and then demand that its newest innovation be abandoned?

Re: PS6 Release Date and Price Not Decided Yet, Says Sony

VenomUK

I believe companies like Sony have to be honest with the statements it makes during fiscal briefings.

So, we are now at the half way point of 2026 is it realistic that it can start and ramp up production of a new console (and also get all the third party developers on board with games) in time for a Christmas 2027 release?

If Sony delays production for components to be cheaper, will it also update the spec so that it is improved or will it retain the original planned PS6 spec?

When will PS6 most likely release, Christmas 2028?

Re: 'I Didn't Listen to Him': Ex PlayStation Boss Shu Yoshida on Why Jim Ryan 'Fired' Him

VenomUK

This is Shuhei Yoshida’s most open interview - he’s revealed so much about what was happening behind the scenes. It turns out Jim Ryan WAS behind the push for live service games! And Shuhei had proven experience and is strong willed so he disagreed with Ryan - at his cost. I thought Jim Ryan was okay but how dare he demote such a talented man! Personality clashes is why Shawn Layton left too.

Hopefully PlayStation behind the scenes is steering the ship back.

Re: Poll: Do Crimson Desert's PS5 Patches Put Other Devs to Shame, or Is the Game Simply Unfinished?

VenomUK

Bethesda needs to take notes.

Other devs ship a game and all their staff then seem to have left for a holiday! Pearl Abyss launched Crimson Desert and seemingly have a full roster working on meaty patches with game improvements.

Compare with the recent launch of Starfield, there are widespread reports of crashes, Bethesda knows the cause, but it still hasn’t fixed it.

What Pearl Abyss is doing right is treating post-launch support as important to support people who’ve already paid, post launch isn’t just an afterthought!

Re: Starfield (PS5) - Better Than Ever, But Still No Space Skyrim

VenomUK

@LiamCroft thanks for the explanations about the gameplay. I love Bethesda RPGs and even played about 2 hours of Starfield when it released. It’s disappointing to learn it doesn’t have that go anywhere sense of the other titles and is more gamey and tasks-based. Still, I believe I have it pre installed and am looking forward to playing it as soon as I finish Ghost of Yotei - hopefully soon!

Re: Mini Review: 1348 Ex Voto (PS5) - An Intriguing But Disappointing PS5 Console Exclusive

VenomUK

By all accounts this isn't a very good game, it's an indie game lacking polish. The Push Square review gives it 4/10, the low score is a clear recommendation to NOT buy it. However I don't understand why some people are criticising other players for not being interested in it; if you've bought it, paid money, played it and are enjoying it, then you have every right to express your enjoyment! However, if you haven't bought it and played it, you do not have hands-on experience so it is disingenuous to celebrate it.

Re: Xbox's Starfield Rockets to the Top of the PS5's Pre-Order Charts

VenomUK

@nomither6 I've heard this a lot online, that now the game is going to be released on PS5, PlayStation fans have stopped being critical and are now praising it. However, I remember the Starfield release, I even played it a bit, and the majority of the criticism was from PC and Xbox players and content creators who felt disappointed because the game did not live up to the promises made. Also, that the game relied on fast travel and did not have a proper space travel system - which is what the Free Lanes update will address.

Re: Opinion: Why Is Sony Scrapping the PSN Name?

VenomUK

If PSN name is removed what will you say the next time there is a technical problem, 'the PlayStation Online outage has stabilised?' I think PSN is a good description of the network infrastructure but can see why it might not be needed as branding.

The name is the least important part, the real question is what happens if PlayStation Online offers many different content types; gaming, movies, anime, does this make it better value or does the weakest element degrade the whole service and dilute its messaging?

Re: Site News: Where's Our Crimson Desert PS5 Review?

VenomUK

In cases like this, would it be acceptable for a PlayStation website to review the PC version, or ‘preview’ it (don’t give a score) ? This would be to give a review on the gameplay, but obviously not PS5 performance. Then that way Push Square can be in on the conversation about what the game is like to play until its PS5 review is up.

Re: PS6 Rival Xbox Helix Could Cost as Much as $1,200

VenomUK

@AverageGamer As Microsoft explained during the ABK FTC appeal, consoles are NOT the same as the iPhone, Android or PC ecosystems. This is because the consoles are traditionally sold at a lost, and having a closed platform allows them to make-up their losses.

Re: Here's Your First Look at the God of War TV Show

VenomUK

Oh my, this doesn't look very good! It looks like a BBC production of a children’s novel like Five Children and It or Narnia, very amateur dramatic. The kid, I don’t mean to be unkind, doesn’t look quite right, nor does Kratos. If most of the backgrounds are CGI this will just spoil any kind of illusion. I suspect this will make The Last Of Us TV series look like The Godfather.
