@naruball Significant graphical leap is quite subjective and imho a stretch. It will probably take a couple of years before we see a game with a real "wow" factor for the graphics. If you buy a PS5 only for that reason, you'd be better staying with a PS4, at least for a couple years. I'm way more excited for the SSD.

NBA 2K2 ugly PS4 face models looks like they were made for PS3. A lot of PS4 games do better characters.

Also, the contrast is washed out for the PS4. Very dishonest comparison.

The graphical difference between ps4 and ps5 is minuscule compared to the difference between ps3 and ps4.

@Stocksy CTR was a very good game even after the microtransactions were added. It was dishonest of Activision, but very minor in the end. I mean, they are only cosmetic and the game was supported with load of new contents for over a year after launch.

@DotM I agree with you. About the checkpoints, if you die enough, new checkpoints will be added to help you just like in the old games. I think you need like 5-10 deaths at the same part for that.

@BlueOcean I remember it too. I was pretty disapointed by it when I found out. It made me look for DS games to collect instead. It is also a nightmare for my PS3 collection. I have to watch unboxing videos to know if my PS3 games are missing something (manual, instruction booklet, promo card for others games, downloadable codes... I mean most of it was just crap, but I like having CIB, you know. Also, I don't recommend paying 5 to 10$ each for very thin ps3 manuals either like I did lol.

I know of at least one game, the Legend of Legacy, that have a clever use of the perforated plastic. They printed small portraits on the back of the cover so every hole is filled by a beautiful character portrait artwork.

@get2sammyb How are those games cheaper? Did Activision mess with the exchange rate?

I mean in Canada, TLOU2 was 80$ new (the equivalent of 60 us dollars) like every AAA new release.

It's preposterous that people pay 60 usd for what is basically an annual sport update (fifa, madden, nhl current year) or 60 usd for the same yearly basic crap (every year cod / battlefield) or paying full price for the same game ported multiple times on other systems (Skyrim, Nintendo many many times) while they criticize the first non spinoff new game in over a decade for a classic and beloved franchise.

I paid 80 canadian bucks and the game deserved it.

Also, the game is only 15 hours if you are really good at platformers and if you don't go for 100%. I'm easily going to quintuple that amount going for 106% and the plat.

@Makina I'm a big fan of physical media but there is no incentive to buy physical anymore (except in rare exceptions), so most of my PS4 collection is digital (and I have hundreds of PS2 and PS3 physical games).

I mean, there are no manuals anymore, the cases are made with extra cheap plastic and you need to install the disc but you still need the disc so basically PS4 blurays are just very expensive drm now.

The only incentive nowadays is that you still can find used games at cheaper price than digital sometimes.

I will also probably try Odin Sphere Leifthrasir for the first time tomorrow. Never had the chance to play the original. I have it on PS2 but I bought the remake during the last sale so I'm going with the remake.

I'm in a Vanillaware mood with the launch of 13 sentinels but it was not reasonable for me to buy 2 new 80 $ games at the same time. Will probably succumb when my next paycheck will come lol.

@johncalmc If they do that, they will probably do it after several months/a year to justify the increase in difficulty.

Case in point, I was a 1st month player of Pokemon Shuffle (a match 3 game with pokemon as powerups) and initially they added new stuff quickly but at a sustainable pace.

Many months in, probably to squeeze out at once all the remaining cash they could before quitting updating the game, they cranked the difficulty to 11. The game was then really hard but still doable for veterans, but it probably weeded out all the casuals and noobs.

How are the trophies? Any trophies locked behind getting lucky with the microtransactions?

Yes, for the most part the ending is what people hates the most (it's obvious why, you'll see when you'll get there). BUT, a lot of the complain is about the bad characterization of all 3 main characters, especially Joel who do stupid mistakes he would never do in the 1st game just so the plot can advance.

@NEStalgia I played the original DQXI on my PS4 slim; it is gorgeous and runs smoothly.

The sound quality of the music don't bother me to be honest. It is quite nostalgic. What bother me though is the variety (not enough tracks and some tracks are way overused). This can't be fixed by the new orchestral soundtrack of the definitive edition.

I'm not arguing for more nudity in T rating games... what is the point of a M rating existing if you censor things that are already censored on other labels?

Btw, DMC5 was censored on PS4 and a lot of others games, fanservices or otherwise, are censored too. People are saying, "like it's just some T&A, who cares" but it's the hypocrisy that irks me (gore and violence is allowed, nudity and sex is not).

Several reasons I think Tekken 7 sold very well (in no particular oder): it's an easy platinum, it is the end of the Heihachi story canon, it is on sale often, the graphics are great.

He's obviously full of crap. When I go to my local store, the only new games I buy are the smaller budget ones, like Spongebob or mega man zero/zx compilation. When I see a 40 canadian bucks brand new game in a sea of 80$ I jump on it. I buy a lot of games, so I will wait for sales 99% of the time.

Anyway, I think the industry push for a price hike as a sneaky way to get rid of physical media (by making digital sales and subscription services more appealing). The industry hates the used market.

Sega is japanese. A buy-out by an american company is highly improbable. Microsoft could buy timed exclusivity of some hot properties from Sega/Atlus though.

@1_W1NG3D_4NG3L Steam is full of games that are extremely difficult to 100% so it doesn't bother me too much on PS4 'cause I'm used to ***** achievements.

On Playstation, for most games, I'm satisfied with a B or C rating on psnprofiles (C meaning I got the average).

I look more for meta stats to motivate me. Stats like "trophies per day", "number of trophies" and "game ranks".

The next big technological leap better be with storage optimization. Better compression shouldn't be that hard to figure out.

IMHO, it would have been more useful that the 4k push.

@theheadofabroom If you want to know, I live in an apartment. It's not just a question of money but of limited space. I own and play Sega and Nintendo consoles too and I have a computer. I have a smart tv for modern and a CRT tv for old. I already have to switch several of my consoles due to space restriction.

OG PS3 cost way too much now and they overheat easily. They are very rare nowadays to find in good condition.

Also, the major advantage of playing PS3 on PS5 would be the performance and graphical update just like Xbox does with xbox 360 playing on Xbone.

@Arnna Well, the thing is I did not mention gender dysphoria because it is kind of controversial in some areas of the Internet.

DSM-V already switched GID to gender dysphoria and there is already talk for the next edition to cut it all together. Some would argue that gender dysphoria is akin to the homosexuality label of the old DSM.

I would have pre-ordered it if they had offered PS3 backwards compatibility. I still have hundred of PS2, PS3 and PS4 games to play and I don't have infinite space under my tv.

@DeepSpace5D Fair enough, but if I'm not mistaken, Sony has more 1st party studios than ever before. I think they can pulled this off and offer both (some exclusives 1st party games and some crossgen).
