Re: Soapbox: We Need to Talk About Font Sizes in Games

Topov81

It doesn't help that there's such a variety of screen sizes these days... anything from 21" to 75" so font size options are definitely needed in-game.

I actually prefer smaller fonts, the PS home menu looks a bit childish compared to the original XMB on PS3 (before Sony forced bigger fonts).

Re: Cloud Saves Need to Improve on PS5, Says PlayStation Community

Let's be honest, having to backup one console's save data manually when you've got two PS4 in the house does scream of first world problems, but hey I'm in the same boat. With PS5 promising full backwards compatibility I'm planning for it to replace one of them, so this shouldn't be an issue for me in future as both will be primary (unless Sony change things again).

Re: SingStar Servers to Go Offline Early Next Year

Going offline is fair enough, and PS4 players will still be able to download songs previously bought. However the big issue is the PS3... only around 50% of the tracks available on the SingStore made the jump to PS4, and worse still PS3 downloads were tied to one console per account. After 31 Jan 2020, if that PS3 fails (or you upgrade/replace the HDD) you won't be any to re-download ANY songs. That's a bit harsh and I don't know why Sony have chosen to do this... personally I still prefer to play SingStar on PS3 because of the bigger library.

Re: PS Plus Cloud Saves Are Restricted to 1,000 Files

I forgot about the increase to 100GB. Is that just for PS4 or is it shared across PS3 and PS Vita?...

I ask because I have 16.68GB of saved data on my PS4 (all of which is backed up via auto-upload) yet on the PS+ screen it says only 9% of cloud saves are used.

Part of the discrepancy will be SingStar and SingStar Celebration which share the same 1.79GB save data, but I think it's calculated twice.

Re: Soapbox: I'm Collecting Every NFL Game Ever Released on PlayStation

Great stuff @get2sammyb... for me it's no coincidence that some of the best Madden games were released at a time when EA had competition with the 2K series.

Over the years I must have played a good chunk of those 121 games, but typically only kept two or three on each platform.

The core gameplay of NFL 2K3, ESPN NFL Football, ESPN NFL 2K5 and All-Pro Football 2K8 holds up well... you should definitely try to play them in that order to experience how 2K fine tuned what, as you say, most believe was the pinnacle of the genre.

I do miss the variety of American Football games, particularly back in the days of the C64 and Amiga. Great memories of TV Sports Football and 4th & Inches, but also more obscure title likes Tom Landry Strategy Football, Head Coach and Super Bowl Sunday.

Re: Guide: All Free EA Access Games Available on PS4

The hub states 35+ games, then provides a list of exactly 35 lol

It's worth a one-off £3.99 to play the few I'm interested in, but they need to add more or figure out a way of offering the PS3 titles (an EA-only PS Now?) to make it worthwhile longer term.

Re: PS Plus July 2019 PS4 Games Changed After Fan Backlash

I can't see this being a licensing issue - surely they'd have that sorted BEFORE the reveal last week?... I've also seen conspiracy theories about PES having a negative impact on the launch of EA Access which will include FIFA 19. Personally I would have preferred PES over Detroit but it was always a strange inclusion given the Lite version is already free.
