Re: UK's GAME Stores to Stop Accepting Trade-Ins from Next Month

TheOldHunter4K

Get real physical money with Facebook Marketplace.
No getting fleeced by a bricks and mortar store mark down.
And no eBay and PayPal taking their chunk if using that either.
The price is the price, you get what you list it for, or the 'buyer' doesn't get the item, in this case, game.

I bought FF16 for £30 and sold it 105 hours later to someone else for the same.

Re: Game of the Year: Sammy's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2023

TheOldHunter4K

@get2sammyb
Hugely off topic and probably not the best way to contact you or a member of the editorial team, couldn't find a private message option, but thought I'd run this by you.. since Christmas Day, purchases made on the playstation network have not been rewarding stars to a number of users.
A few forums have a bit of chatter about it, I just wondered if anyone else has had a similar problem and if so, is there enough traction for an article on Push square to investigate and reach out to Sony.
Cheers.

Re: PS5 Slim Doesn't Come with a Vertical Stand, Needs to Be Bought Separately

TheOldHunter4K

Had my launch disc drive PS5 vertical since day one, never used the stand, it cannot topple over, it's too heavy and the left side broad enough to distribute it's weight to negate such a thing.
The original stand could do both vertical and horizontal, the redesign has been done just as a take from Sony to bleed a bit more from the consumer.
Saying that, I'll probably sell my original stand, just sitting in drawer somewhere.

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection: All Games Included and What to Play First

TheOldHunter4K

Settle in for another boring story from a gaming old timer, (46).
I remember when metal gear solid first came out, me and my partner at that time, had a flat, you know, young couple, not too shabby, 28 inch TV that was the envy of friends lol
30 kilos plus!
Anyway, she toddled out with a group of our friends, and sent one of the lads back to get me cos I had committed day one to play it.
Anyway, long story short, too late, he knocked just as I was starting it.
Said was I coming out I said nope, playing new game, he sat down on the floor in front of me to have a look and I kid you not, he was transfixed.
Every now and again I'd say, do you want a go mate, and he'd say no, I'm loving just watching it.
It was probably 5 hours, the two of us, me with the wired controller on the sofa and him sat on the floor.
2 am rolls on, the door goes and my partner walks in with friends and kebabs in tow, (remember, this was before mobiles were absolutely everywhere), and said where you 2 been all night!!!

Gaming. Sometimes, just sometimes, it's special.

Re: Red Dead Redemption Revival Looking More and More Likely as Evidence Mounts

TheOldHunter4K

For me, I would love, absolutely 'love' for it to be a RDR remake. The storytelling was so good.. SO GOOD, it stayed with me for ages after.
And after playing RDR2, I still preferred the first one, the second was from a technical standpoint better, but a lot of bloat.
And I didn't really care for Arthur, I just wanted more John Marston.
The caveat is, that as mentioned above, the point to point gameplay could sometimes be a chore, not able to flank a target if they go down a little canyon/crevasse and I go highground, thinking outside the box, while chasing on horseback cos "they got away" and so on.
But the story beats, hunting the old gang, first going to Mexico... and the ending... Superb.
Better than many of the films and books that it took inspiration from.
And yes, I'd welcome a GTA4 remake too, I hardly remember it, but I remember that I enjoyed it.
Russian fella. Nico? I could look it up🤔

Re: Poll: Was Capcom Showcase 2023 All Killer, or Mostly Filler?

TheOldHunter4K

I was very interested in the 40th capcom museum thing, then when it was browser based I thought, nope, so that was that.

Exoprimal, to me, dirge.
Ok, there loads of people out there that will love it.
But not for me. And they are putting a ***** ton of marketing and time on it.

Pragmata. Good to see it isn't vapour and it's delayed. Better than silence.

And, erm, that's it. Dragons dogma, not even a year given, so I'm guessing mid 2024 at earliest.

Edit: ok, just had a look at the capcom town thing. Meh, each little hub just takes you to another capcom site.

I would have much preferred an actual app/game on the ps5, my interest was purely all the old archival stuff.

Nev mind.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 480

TheOldHunter4K

I played the Lies of P demo...
Good grief, all of the systems used are lifted straight from the souls games, which I love.
I did enjoy it though👍

But this is cut n paste.
Even down to the woman with quest in window, which I just KNEW was coming way before it actually happened.

Wasn't keen on some of the clockwork enemies though.
Prefer a more visceral target.

Can From sue for blatant copyright?

Re: PS Plus Subscriptions Discounted by 25% for a Limited Time

TheOldHunter4K

Further to what others have said about getting discounted codes, I just got an £84 code from ShopTo for £69.
I had Premium since it launched, paid about £83 for the discounted code at that time, and for me, Premium simply isn't worth £100 a year, it wasn't worth the £83 I actually paid.
So I will go with Extra.

The price is not that much higher than extra, but I will not support that tier for the dross it has had, and game trials and streaming games do not interest me.

I played just one Premium game in the past year Ghostbusters Remastered.

Re: PS Plus Premium More Popular Than Extra, 30% of Subscribers Upgraded

TheOldHunter4K

I paid less than the asking for Extra and got the Premium, using discounted network codes from either cdkeys or Shop. To, don't remember which.
Had I not done that, and with hindsight, Extra would have been my go to.
To me, Premium simply isn't worth £99.

I've never paid full price for any subscription, or game, for that matter if getting from the PSN, I always get a code from somewhere and apply that first.
Usually works out at 15% less than normal price.

Re: Next Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Patch Is Out Today, Focuses on Bug Fixes

TheOldHunter4K

Just to add my 2 penneth.
I have in the past been a day one gamer.
Something I really wanted, that was it, day one purchase. End of.
But steadily into the mid to late PS4 era, I tuned out of day one purchases.
I WANTED to play the games so bad, and therefore to support the developers, but it became more and more of a guessing game who would release a game that was buggy, and who would release near, if not in a perfect state.
As others have stated, it has become the industry norm;
They set a date to please shareholders, release in whatever state it's in, then patch or patches to follow. I'm all for quality of life patches, but not when they are to fix that which is broken.
It's not what I paid all that money for, (for a PS4 then ps5), to be an unpaid QA tester.

Re: Final Fantasy 16's Jaw-Dropping PS5 World Will Make You Say Wow

TheOldHunter4K

2023 looking to be the twilight year for PS4.
Burning Shores is the start, and with PS5 stock levels way up, FFXVI and Spiderman 2, developers not held back by old tech.

To quote FFXVI producer Naoki Yoshida:
"At that time, we were developing the game with the possibility of releasing it on PlayStation 4 in mind, so we were worried about not being able to raise the quality."

Although there are ALWAYS compromises between vision and commercial reality, it's getting to a place this gen where developers can get that bit closer with less holding them back.

Re: Hogwarts Legacy PS4 Version Delayed to May 2023

TheOldHunter4K

12 million sold on current platforms.
Conservative revenue of over £600,000.
Wouldn't be surprised if they cancel it.
Yes, they probably CAN get it to run on older systems, with a lot of compromises.
Not exactly their 'vision' I'm sure.

And the Switch version....🤦🏼‍♂️
