The hardware is great (ugly but very good). The software lineup has been okay. 3rd party has been strong.

I’ve really enjoyed the PS5 this generation. Moreso than I expected to. Helldivers 2, ARC Raiders, Silent Hill 2, Stellar Blade, Astro Bot and others have been excellent titles. I’ve enjoyed it.

Robocop: Rogue City Unfinished Business, Helldivers 2 and a healthy dose of Ready or Not. Hope to get Donkey Kong Bananza in the next week or two.

Easy 9 for me. There probably needs to be a little better balancing of some enemies (in both directions) but overall it’s a load of fun. I genuinely enjoyed it and was sad to see it end. For every person that may not have liked the changes from Eternal, there might be a player that truly enjoys this style of combat and exploration.
Give it a shot. I loved it.

@Weebleman yes. I doubt 95% ever do it, but it needs to be done at least every 6-12 months, more in dusty environments.

@PaperAlien Microsoft pays the devs to put games on Gamepass.

@old_gamer74 no. The stealth is useful but it’s not oppressive. On a low to medium difficulty you’ll enjoy the game.

I played it quite a bit at launch, and while I don’t love some of the things you mentioned (NOC chatter mostly), it’s an incredible game.

If it’s not a 9/10 or 10/10, I don’t know what is. Gorgeous graphics, approachable gameplay, so much to do most could never finish it all. It’s one of the best arcade-ish racers in many years.

Rented a lot of games as a kid, but never a console. That said, in this world economy it’s understandable. A lot has changed for many folks since 2020.

Plus, in generations past the costs of consoles dropped by mid-Gen and I doubt we’ll ever see that again. Which is a crying shame.

I’ve rarely had more fun gaming than a session with my squad mates on Helldivers 2. I’ve made some great new online friends playing it, and I’ve rarely played a game that I looked forward to playing as much as this one. It was truly an unexpected surprise this year. One of the best experiences I’ve had in this hobby.

Picked it up day one.

Fantastic remake. I enjoyed it a lot.

I miss smaller titles that just focused on fun. Didn’t take years to develop. There are some GREAT AAA titles this Gen, but overall it feels like the big studios are just playing it safe and definitely lack creativity.

@Kidfunkadelic83 I know everyone is different in what “scares” them, but it’s really not too bad. A few “oh crap” scares but nothing too jarring. It’s mostly a sense of dread and unease more than “here’s horrifying monsters and gore” at every turn. Unless you’re just really sensitive I suggest you give it a shot,

@Fartingale not even being a smart aleck, that’s actually part of it as you descend deeper and deeper in to the “depths” of the game. I struggled to see in the later levels also, but it’s really just part of your journey in to the character’s own nightmare world. Darker and darker places.

My only complaints are similar to those of others I’ve seen - a couple of the areas drag on juuuuust a bit too long, and there were a couple minor technical issues. Other than that, it’s a wonderful game and one I’m very glad to have experienced in a modern form. Definitely 9/10 from me.

It will be a travesty if the sound design team and composer don’t win an award for their efforts. The sound design is incredible.

I have yet to play it, but curious if they’ve addressed the framerate on PS5 yet. I’d prefer to pick it up on PlayStation, but it’s definitely got more drops and stutters on PS5 from what I’ve seen.

HellDivers 2 came out of nowhere for me and has been so much fun. Looking forward to Stellar Blade.

It’s a really fun golf game. Obviously not everyone’s cup of tea, but I enjoy a round or two here and there.

I bought it cheap and it’s actually a solid game. Definitely worth trying out.

@Weebleman agreed. HellDivers 2 was a pleasant surprise and I’m excited for Stellar Blade.

@Ravensbane The Quasar Cannon is really good if you’re running with a well-equipped team. Can do a lot without needing to reload.

It’s definitely happening to a few players. Certainly not everyone, but it is a thing. I suspect it’s a combination of things. The PS5 can for sure accumulate dust and buildup in the internals. If your warranty is up watch a video and take it apart enough to clean out the heat sinks and fan. Not hard to do and will certainly eliminate one potential cause of problems like this.

I’m definitely intrigued, but having not played the prior entries AND knowing From Software, I don’t want to play a game so difficult if it’s beyond frustrating. I don’t mind some challenge, but don’t want it to be Souls hard. At this point in my life fun is most important. I guess that can mean different things to different people.

@Max_the_German yeah this site is the only one of the three that does it. Nintendo Life and Pure Xbox don’t fanboy, but lately Push Square has really gone in. I own them all so I don’t have to miss anything, but it’s weird to feed the toxicity. Corporate slavism has always baffled me. Sony isn’t paying the average fanboy’s bills, but you’d think they have personal stakes in PS5 success.

Hoping Robocop is great

Yeah, it will definitely top 50 million total this fiscal year. I’m more an Xbox guy than PS5 fan (have both), but Sony has already won this generation handily.

I’d settle for a Sony Blue controller. Not a fan of the pastels. Right now I’m rocking black factory plates and a black Dualsense.

I immediately pointed that out to my wife, laughed and said “that’s nowhere near Boston.” 🤣

I’m sure it will affect only a small percentage of consoles, but having watched many, many repair videos, this IS a thing on the PS5. Whether or not it becomes a more widespread issue over time remains to be seen, but to scoff or ignore it would be just as silly as panicking. It has happened and multiple repair shops have reported it. It’s a very unique design and with so many out there, there WILL be a few issues crop up here and there. I’ve never had any issues with mine and I’m hoping it stays that way.

I appreciate the sim aspects of these games, but would love one with more arcade-style handling. I don’t have the skills. 😄

Really easy to get now. Even the Digital Edition stayed on Direct for HOURS. It’s good when things are easily available for purchase.

Absolutely sad to see DIRT go. I loved DIRT 5.

Top Gear holds up very well. Was fantastic on the SNES.

I own an Elite 2 controller for Xbox as I got a sale price, but just don’t see the point in this one yet. The Dualsense is already really feature-rich, and I have two of them. I might get one at some point but am pretty happy with the standard controller. $200 is a bit high.

A new Motorstorm would make me happy beyond words.

@Eran not sure what country you’re in, but in the US they drop PS5’s every week somewhere. Anyone in the US that doesn’t have one yet can’t afford it or doesn’t really want one. They sat available for purchase on Sony Direct for hours last week.

Will keep an eye on this one. I enjoyed MX vs. ATV All-Out.
