Star Wars: Galactic Racer, the very promising racing game set in a galaxy far, far away, has been confirmed for global physical release.

Publisher Secret Mode has partnered with Plaion for the physical edition of the game. The company will handle the distribution of the boxed copies when the arcadey sci-fi racer launches later this year.

It means that fans of physical media will be able to add one more PS5 game to their collection.

Given this is Star Wars, it feels right that it'll be available on disc; it's certainly a big enough brand to warrant the extra step beyond a digital release.

"We are delighted to partner with Secret Mode to bring Star Wars: Galactic Racer to the global physical market," says Plaion Partners CEO Craig McNicol. "Securing the mandate for worldwide physical distribution of such an exciting title underscores the strength of our retail relationships, our expert teams around the world and our extensive experience within the physical games space. We are committed to delivering top-tier products to players everywhere and look forward to a strong global launch."

Whether there will be any physical special editions or other benefits to buying a boxed copy remain unknown for now.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer is currently available to wishlist on PS Store, but if you'd rather hold the game in your hands, you'll be able to do that too.

The game comes from Fuse Games, a new studio that includes among its ranks ex-Criterion Games staff, and that's plain to see when you watch gameplay trailers.
